CMA Fest Artist Spotlight feature Brian James On Air With DJ Jazzy Kat!

brian schramCMA Fest Artist Spotlight feature Brian James Schram is an artist many of you may already be familiar with. His successful background and vast experience with many popular artists have led him to step out on his own, taking his success to the next level. While watching him backstage at Alley Taps during his interview with the Iceman, I discovered there was a lot more to this impressive musician than I thought. I wondered how I would be able to get through our interview without asking him the same questions as the Iceman. Schram’s answers were so good. You will have to search for his interview with Iceman later, as I decided it would be best to have a completely different conversation with Schram. I am so glad I did. Watch our conversation now to learn more about this talented and very smart man. Check out a sneak peek of his bio (taken from his website) below.“Brian James Schram began his musical career at the age of fifteen. The son of a journeyman honky-tonk singer and musician, his earliest musical memories are the sounds of classic country music. Listening to the likes of George Jones, Lefty Frizzle, Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton, and of course the immortal Hank Williams with his Dad, Brian's love of guitar was influenced by the great country pickers he heard in his youth, and he knew he wanted to pursue a career in music at a very young age.As the lead guitarist for Uncle Kracker, Brian had the pleasure of performing on nationally syndicated TV shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, Regis and Kelly, and The Carson Daily Show. He has also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Colt Ford, Johnny Lang, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Dustin Lynch, Parmalee, and Granger Smith. Even with all his successes, Brian felt it was time to step out on his own and go back to his roots, where his heart lies, with Country Music. Known as a great rock guitarist and songwriter, the influences of country music have always been present in everything he has done, so it really isn't a transition; it's more like "Coming Home to Country.”Please follow Schram on social media, check out his website and watch our full conversation now. You will definitely be seeing a lot more of him. Feel free to send him a message and tell him hello for me.Katztracks.net With DJ Jazzy Kat. Support the show

DJ Jazzy Kat With Michelle Willson Talk all things Music and the world as we know it!

A writer in the respected Allmusic.com once put it this way: "Her singing is like a strong cup of Joe -- it beelines to the gut and jolts the system."And that's putting it mildly.Michelle is a force of nature -- an emotional ball of talent that inspires with her original songs but also takes you on a journey through what she calls "the lost music" of vintage soul/R&B legends like Dinah Washington, Ruth Brown and Etta James. Michelle has had a remarkable career. The Boston native made four albums with Bullseye Records (a subsidiary of Rounder Records) under the watchful eyes of producers Ron Levy (who also played keyboards with B.B. King for many years) and the Grammy Award-winning Scott Billington, who has more than 100 albums to his credit. Michelle herself has been nominated for the W.C. Handy Award for best blues vocalist (she lost to Etta James) and has toured internationally, with her own band and with (award winning blues pianist) Anthony Geraci’s Boston Blues all-Stars, with whom she appeared at The Lucerne (Switzerland) Blues Festival in 2018 and The Notodden (Norway) Blues Festival in 2019. She most recently performed in Switzerland with the Band Three Hours Past Midnight in November of 2024.In 2013, she recorded a live album, Fortune Cookie, at world renowned jazz club Scullers in Boston. 2015 offered her the opportunity to sing with “Night Tripper” Dr. John at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA. Michelle appeared on 2 of Anthony Geraci’s most recent recordings, as well as on 2 of Duke Robillard’s recent releases. Currently, she is writing new material and preparing to go back into the studio to record her own music for the first time in over 20 years.A couple of little factoids:Michelle dropped out of college to start her first band in 1978. In 2015, she returned to UMASS Amherst’s UWW program to complete her bachelor’s degree and graduated magna cum laude in 2019.Michelle works at a small, mostly jazz, NPR affiliate radio station, 90.5 WICN in Worcester, MA. She is host of an eclectic, wildly popular weekday morning music program (Morning Vibe Time - M-F 6-9am) and acts as the station’s production manager, overseeing all aspects of recorded programming. His father was a country music fan, played some guitar, and surrounded him with music. Braunagel's first experience on the drums was playing his cousin's drumkit as a child, before being mentored by his neighbor (now life-long friend) Willie Ornelas. At the age of 15 he bought his first drumkit from Ornelas and performed live for the first time shortly thereafter when Ornelas got him his first nightclub gig. Soon after, he became involved in the then-upcoming Houston R&B scene, honing his skills by playing in local joints and nightclubs.Performance careerBraunagel's early drumming career included playing in several local bands, such as Soul Brothers Incorporated, The Jokers, and Buttermilk Bottom. The latter got a record deal with Polydor and released a single. After the demise of Buttermilk Bottom, he then teamed up with Andy Chapman (vocals) Jimmy Don Smith (guitar) and then David Kealey (guitar), Michael Montgomery (keyboards), and Terry Wilson (bass) to form The Bloontz All Star Blues Band. The band also included Terry Wilson-Slesser on vocals and later John "Rabbit" Bundrick, who replaced Montgomery on keyboards following the release of the band's first album The Band Plays On (Atco Records). They recorded a further album 2nd Street prior to Kossoff's death in 1976 after which the band decided to stay together. They added Geoff Whitehorn on guitar, and shortened its name to Crawler. Country Rocker Stephen Styles Gets Raw and Reflective with New Digital Release With DJ Jazzy KatOn Air

Stephen Styles bio:Country Rocker Stephen Styles Gets Raw and Reflective with New Digital Release “Whiskey And Vinyl”NASHVILLE, TENN. — With his current radio single Bar By Now climbing the Music Row Country Charts, California country rocker Stephen Styles takes a more vulnerable turn with his latest digital release, Whiskey And Vinyl. This song is now available on all digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.  Solely written by Stephen, the track pulls back the curtain on the kind of late-night moments that don’t make it into highlight reels – when the room is quiet, the weight of the world feels heavy, and the only thing that truly understands you is music.  “There’s something different about vinyl — it’s raw, imperfect, and real — and that’s how emotions are too,” says Stephen. “For me, this song represents using music as a way to survive hard moments. It’s about heartbreak, reflection, and finding some peace in the pain. The song pays tribute to the artists who helped me through my own difficult times and I’m now hoping to be that voice for someone else.” Built on his signature blend of classic country grit and Southern rock edge known as “Zero to Hillbilly,” Whiskey And Vinyl leans into emotional honesty while maintaining the authenticity fans have come to expect. Released by Plow House Records, the track highlights a different side of Styles, one with more therapeutic confession. “For me, music is my therapy. I hope listeners feel like they’re not alone in whatever they’re going through. Everybody has those nights where the world feels heavy and you’re just trying to make sense of it all. Sometimes music is the only thing that understands what you're going through, whether it's healing, reminiscing, or just getting through the night.”His current radio hit, Bar By Now, has gained strong momentum across independent and regional markets and has an impressive track record to date. This release is officially charting on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart, was in the Top 10 most added song by country radio, charted #2 on PlayMPE’s Streaming Chart in the UK, secured airplay nationally and internationally in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, and Portugal, and has landed on over 500 Spotify playlists to date.About Stephen Styles: Rising California country-rocker Stephen Styles delivers a sound rooted in classic country grit with a southern rock edge, known as “Zero To Hillbilly.” The son of Wayne Moore, bassist for the influential ’60s musical group Nashville West — whose members went on to join The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers — Stephen carries forward a rich musical lineage while carving out a lane entirely his own.A standout at songwriter festivals throughout the West, Styles has shared stages with Brantley Gilbert, Drew Baldridge, Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols, Eric Paslay, Easton Corbin, Dustin Lynch, Thompson Square and more. Raised on outlaw country and Southern rock, he has built a loyal following drawn to his authenticity, unfiltered lyrics, and high-energy live show. With his previous radio release Burn and his current radio hit Bar By Now, Stephen is often compared to artists like Chris Stapleton, Eric Church and Whiskey Myers. He blends heritage influence with modern edge, honoring where he comes from while confidently defining where he’s headed in country music. https://stephenstylesband.com/homeKatztracks.net With DJ Jazzy Kat. Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps Talk With DJ Jazzy Kat!

Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps are on quite a roll. Her persuasive pipes slathered in honey and soaked in Texas-bred sass, keyboardist Teresa James and her band, the Rhythm Tramps, have long reigned as one of Los Angeles’ leading contemporary blues outfits, even though their uncommonly imaginative repertoire, much of it supplied by Terry Wilson, James’ husband, producer, and bassist, is by no means strictly limited to the 12-bar form.  Their 2019 CD Here in Babylon was nominated for a Grammy in the Contemporary Blues Album category. Rose-Colored Glasses, the band’s new release on Blue Heart Records, continues that proud tradition. It’s their 12th album and once again showcases Teresa’s enticing way with a lyric and Terry’s prolific songwriting talent, poured over grooves that’ll grab listeners and refuse to let go until the very last notes have rung. A coterie of Texas guitar greats guest on the set, including Anson Funderburgh, Lee Roy Parnell, Johnny Lee Schell, Snuffy Walden, and Dean Parks. “This new album is kind of veering a little bit more into soul,” says Teresa. “But to me, blues is more of a state of mind. It’s where you’re coming from. It’s the attitude and the heart that you bring to it.”  By any yardstick, Teresa got an uncommonly early start on her lifelong profession. “There was always music playing in my house. My dad was a huge music fan. He had all kinds of musical interests, so I was exposed to a lot of different kinds of music.” “I studied classical music until I was about a sophomore in high school. When I was like eight or so, my dad taught me how to play guitar.  Those were the seeds which would eventually lead to a musical career including recordings with Walter Trout, Eric Burdon, Spencer Davis, Tommy Castro, Stephen Bruton, Randy Newman, LeeRoy Parnell, Neil Diamond, and more; plus live performances with countless others, including Marcia Ball, Levon Helm, Lloyd Jones, Delbert McClinton, and Eric Burdon & the Animals.  She has been a featured act on Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches Cruises for more than twenty years.Teresa ultimately left Houston at the encouragement of Terry Wilson and his buddy Tony Braunagel, who had relocated to L.A. Terry proved the perfect musical cohort for Teresa. “His songs are brilliant. I think he’s a really great songwriter. And we’ve collaborated on quite a few, but I think what I bring to his songs in the interpretation is just a good match. He knows the kinds of things that I’m going to be able to put myself into to expand them,” she says. “Over the years, we have definitely developed a partnership that works.”  Her band, The Rhythm Tramps, consists of world class players that have toured or recorded with artists including Eric Burdon & the Animals, Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Reed, Lightin’ Hopkins, Jimmy Vaughan, Johnny Nash, Smokey Robinson, Tom Jones, Tower Of Power, and more.In 1998, The Rhythm Tramps released their debut album, The Whole Enchilada, on Jesi-lu, with Teresa and Terry’s studio cohorts including guitarists Watts, Schell, and Stephen Bruton. Braunagel and Herman Matthews manned the drums. Subsequent releases include Live (2000), Oh Yeah! (2003), The Rhythm Method (2004), and The Bottom Line in 2007. “The Bottom Line is a really good one,” says Teresa. “We still do most of the songs on that album, and that was the one where we got the BMA nomination.” Next up was Country by Request (2008), followed by 2010’s You Know You Love It, Come On Home in 2012, Bonafide in 2016, and the Grammy-nominated Here in Babylon in 2018, which was mixed by Ed Cherney with Jay Bellerose on drums. As if the band didn’t keep her busy enough, Teresa has also done considerable vocal work on film soundtracks and song demos in Los Angeles. One of her favorite composers to work for in the studio is Randy Newman; she was one of the background singers on “Putin” from his Katztracks.net With DJ Jazzy Kat. Support the show

“DJ Jazzy Kat Sits Down with Roses & Weeds and talks about there new music"

Tarren Keelie & Caleb Moses Roses & Weeds!Rooted in music. Grown like family. The band was born from a front porch, a garden full of roses, and the kind of musical connection you don’t find every day. It all started when Caleb was next door, strumming his guitar and singing, while Tarren, Jason, and his mom were tending to roses in the yard. That simple, down-home moment led to new friendships, shared music, and eventually, a band.Originally performing as Caleb Moses and the Guy Next Door, things shifted when Tarren Keelie—quiet and reserved in most settings—began singing a few songs during shows. Her voice, rich with a timeless tone that felt straight from the vinyl era, struck a chord with everyone who heard it. With Caleb’s expressive, soulful vocal style and Tarren’s classic country twang, their voices naturally complement each other—bringing an old-school heart with a modern edge.Together, they formed Roses & Weeds with their drummer, blending deep roots in traditional country with their own fresh, personal style. Their sound is built on contrast and harmony—just like the name itself. The name Roses & Weeds came to Lisa D., now the band’s manager, during a moment of reflection. She remembered that porch-side day and realized how perfectly it symbolized the group’s spirit: sometimes life is roses—bright, blooming, joyful. Sometimes it’s weeds—rough, unexpected, but still growing. Both need love, both can be beautiful, and together they tell a fuller story. The band often jokes about which of them are the “roses” and who are the “weeds,” but really, they each bring both. After numerous recordings in Nashville, Roses & Weeds is on a mission to bring back the kind of music that’s real—songs that make you feel something, tell a story, and leave a mark.https://www.facebook.com/rosesandweedsmusic/https://www.instagram.com/rosesandweedsmusic/Katztracks.net With DJ Jazzy Kat. New Guest Addis Luv Country-Soul Artist On Katztracks.net with DJ jazzy Kat

Country-Soul Artist Addis Luv Drops Performance Video for Latest Single Born To Roam-  Premiered on American Country Network  -(Watch Born To Roam Video HERE)NASHVILLE, TENN. — Country-soul artist Addis Luv continues to carve his lane in modern country music with his latest radio release, Born To Roam. The official music video recently made its broadcast and streaming television network debut on American Country Network’s Friday Night Live show and is now available to stream on YouTube.  This feel-good anthem is rooted in freedom, possibility, and the open road and is currently climbing the Music Row Country Breakout Chart. It is also available on all major digital streaming platforms. Directed by DareDevil Productions, and filmed in the iconic Starstruck Entertainment in the heart of Nashville’s Music Row, the video delivers a high-energy, full-band performance that mirrors the electricity of an Addis Luv live show. The blend of country and rock that he delivers is tailor-made for today’s country audience. Written by Kris Heaton and produced by Ray Hamilton, Born To Roam is powered by drivingguitars and an undeniable sense of wanderlust, celebrating the diverse beauty of America - from coastal highways and mountain peaks to wide-open western skies – serving as both a soundtrack for adventure and a declaration of independence.  Addis’ journey is anything but typical. Raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Addis grew up in humble circumstances, working in a grocery store to help support his family, and sometimes sharing a single room with three others. Country music was rarely heard where he lived until, one day, Dolly Parton’s voice came through the store speakers. Honest, tender, and fearless, it stirred something in him he had never felt before. In that moment, he knew he wanted to create music that spoke to people’s hearts the way hers did. Years later, Addis moved to the United States to pursue that calling — not just to sing country music, but to live it and connect through it. His seasoned voice carries a touch of gravel and a wealth of truth — the sound of someone who has lived what he sings. And no matter the setting, he is the same man. Whether he is performing on massive stages like Carnival 2025, singing at The Lincoln Center in New York, or sharing a song with someone he meets on the street, Addis shows up grateful, open-hearted, and fully present.Music isn’t just a career for him. It's a connection. Addis puts his thumbprint on every song he sings because he genuinely wants people to feel something real. His humanity shows up everywhere: in his work as a philanthropist, in the way he treats people from every walk of life, and in the way he carries himself onstage and off. Now signed with Angel Eyes Music, Addis plans to release additional singles leading into a full-length album later this year that fuses honky-tonk, country-soul, and country rock. “I feel I am finally settling into a sound that is honest to who I am,” says Addis. For more information and updates, visit www.AddisLuv.com and follow Addis Luv on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.About Addis Luv: Addis Luv is a powerhouse vocalist and rising country-soul artist whose journey began far from Nashville—in the vibrant Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Now based in the U.S. and signed to Angel Eyes Music LLP, Addis brings heart, soul, and world-class vocals to country music, fusing traditional country roots with global rhythms of the islands, and the authenticity of lived experience. From visiting radio stations in support of his music to headlining shows, Addis continues to captivate audiences with his magnetic energy, undeniable stage presence, and unmistakable voice. Behind the Mic: DJ Jazzy Kat Talks Music with Singer Bill Price

Bill Price is a singer-songwriter based in Indianapolis, Indiana. While Price sees songwriting, recording and performing as all having importance, he admits that the idea of creating something original is what drives him forward.Price says he was always drawn to the songwriting aspect of music. “I don’t know if it was the realization that I was always going to be just an average guitar player or the fact that I always have an opinion that got me headed in the songwriting direction, but for whatever reason, I just got that fire. I was inspired by certain music to try and do a similar thing, but as I’ve gotten older, what inspires me just as much are non-musical ideas and experiences.” Price continues, “I’m just fascinated with the entire creative process—the inspiration, writing, arranging, recording and performing of songs and how that process is connected to life itself.” Price says that he’s always tried to evolve. “I think trying new things is critical for any type of artist in order to continue to grow.”Price has released five full-length albums, three EPs and two CD singles to date, with several more projects in the works. His most ambitious project is I Can’t Stop Looking at the Sky, which, in addition to two full-length albums, includes a personal journal and a book of short stories, poems and essays. All are housed in an elaborate package designed by Price, who is also a graphic designer.Beggars Belief recorded with his side project band The Brains Behind Pa, is his most recent release. Bill Price releases have been met with positive reviews, especially in Europe. His music has also received airplay in Europe in addition to U.S. college and independent radio. In 2010 Price began to expand his performing area beyond his native Indiana, playing regional shows around the Midwest. He has toured the American Northwest seven times as well as playing a few shows in Canada. Mississippi Heat stands as one of the longest running bands in Chicago Live with DJ Jazzy Kat On Katztracks.net Radio Show!

Mississippi Heat stands as one of the longest running bands in Chicago, as well as a launching pad for many blues players who’ve gone on to successful solo careers. MH’s alumni reads like a Who’s Who of Chicago Blues past and present: Billy Flynn, Lurrie Bell, Carl Weathersby, Kenny “Beedy Eyes” Smith, Deitra Farr, Bob Stroger, Calvin “Fuzz” Jones, James Wheeler, Barrelhouse Chuck, Jon McDonald, Robert Covington, Bob Carter and more.Mississippi Heat’s personnel may have changed over the decades, but the heart and soul of the music remains with Pierre Lacocque, who directs the band with his highly creative, virtuosic harmonica skills, stellar songwriting and artistic vision. MH embodies the traditional Chicago blues ensemble style, but Lacocque sometimes adds in some zydeco, world beats, Latin and jazz for spice; it’s not surprising since the Israeli-born native (of Christian parents from Belgium) has lived in and traveled to many different countries. After playing harmonica in various blues bands in both Chicago and Canada (where he attended college) Lacocque formed his own  band in 1991 (along with Jon McDonald, Bob Stroger and Robert Covington). Since then, Mississippi Heat has become an internationally acclaimed, beloved band that always features Chicago’s top talent playing original music. MH has performed all over the world, including the U.S., Canada, Europe, Mexico, South America and Northern Africa.YouTube Page @mississippiheat–Linda Cain, Founder/Editor Chicago Blues GuideKatztracks.net With DJ Jazzy Kat. His music blends traditional country roots with honest, relatable narratives about love, loss, redemption, and the quiet moments that shape who we become. His approach allows space for reflection, connection, and discovery, inviting people into conversations about hope and purpose through music they can feel, not just hear. With a sound that balances grit and grace, Tony Reagan is carving out a lane for listeners who appreciate country music that’s honest, soulful, and rooted in something deeper.
