Last weekend, Peter Lynch reclaimed the Irish marathon record with a fantastic run at the London Marathon.Before returning to his training camp, he dropped into the KCLR studio for a chat about his latest achievement and what he’s planning next.

Rory McIlroy's become only the fourth golfer to retain the Masters title after winning by one shot. The defending champion carded a final round 71 to finish on 12 under-par - just ahead of world number one Scottie Scheffler at Augusta. He follows in the footsteps of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods in securing green jackets in back-to-back years. Last year's runner-up Justin Rose was part of a group, including fellow Englishman Tyrrell Hatton, a stroke further back. Shane Lowry's final round 80 saw the former Open champion fall back to one-under-par.Carlow's Harry Ewing followed Rory around the course and joined us to discuss it. 

Tullow are through to the Bank of Ireland Towns Cup Final following their semi final victory over Naas over the weekend.The game was live on KCLR Plus thanks to New Moon Indian Restaurant Tullow, afterwards Brendan Hennessy spoke to players, coaching staff and some stalwarts of the club. At the time of publishing the final is due to take place in Edenderry on Sunday April 19th.

Ahead of Championship 2026 we hear from Carlow captain Mikey Bambrick along with Mayo's Aidan O'Shea, Armagh's Oisin Conaty and Kerry's Sean O'Shea.

Carlow have secured promotion to division 3 following their 4-22 to 2-5 win over Leitrim in Netwatch Cullen Park.We went to Carlow to chat to Joe about completing part 1 of the 2026 mission and about what is coming next. Murphy is also part of the under 20 management team and they open their Leinster campaign on Wednesday night against Meath in Netwatch Cullen Park.

Promotion is still in Carlow's hands despite today's 1-19 to 1-14 defeat to Longford at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.Up next for Joe Murphy's side are home games against London on Saturday March 15th at 6 pm and then Leitrim at 1 pm on Sunday March 22nd. A win in either game is enough to earn a place in division 3 as well as a Croke Park showpiece.  The Carlow ladies winning streak continued beating Longford 4-16 to 3 points.  

All Star and former Mayo footballer Keith Higgins is now in charge of the counties under 20 side. At this weeks launch we caught up with him to chat about the new rules, coaching players with the new rules in mind and the emergence of Kobe McDonald.The under 20 championship begins for Carlow on Wednesday March 25th when they host Meath in Carlow, after that they play Longford in Longford before finishing their group with an away clash against neighbours Laois.

Kilkenny's Seanie Maguire scored twice as Cork City beat Wexford 4-1  in the first division.In the Premier division Thomastown's Colm Whelan started as Bohemians beat  Derry 1-0 at the Ryan McBride Brandywell.Elsewhere Jimmy Keohane captained Galway to a 1-all draw away to Shels, Shamrock Rovers beat St Pats 2-0 and Dundalk drew 1 all with Drogheda.Padraig Amond skippered Waterford as drew nil-all with Sligo Rovers, after the game Amond spoke to us as did Johnny Dunleavy.

Carlow made it 4 wins from 4 in the Allianz Football League over the weekend beating Waterford 1-26 to 15 points at Netwatch Cullen Park.It was also a great weekend for the Carlow Ladies who won a historic 5th match in a row beating Derry 2-12 to 1-7.Following Saturday's win Brendan Henessy got the reaction of Christopher Blake, Conor Crowley and Manager Joe Murphy.

It was a good Valentines weekend for the men's and ladies' footballers of Carlow with both teams maintaining their 100 percent records in the league.The men beat Tipperary 1-=17 to 1-14 in Semple Stadium while the ladies over4came Offaly 2-8 to 12 points in Kilcormac. The camogie team were unluck top miss out against Derry, losing by a point, that game will be covered by Camán Caint..

By the rime you listen to this the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup for 2026 will be over but before the game Dublin legend James McCarthy and former AFL and Laois star Colm Begley joined us for an evergreen and forever relevant conversation on the benefits of college football, handling retirement and facing Carlow. 

Chris Blake kicked 8 points as Carlow beat Wicklow 1-15 to 2-9 in last night's Allianz League Division 4 encounter at Netwatch Cullen Park.It's a second win in a row for Carlow. After the game we got the reaction from the Carlow camp and from Wicklow boss Oisin McConville who spoke about the standard of officiating in division 4 !

Last week we spotted a story in the Carlow Nationalist about Edel Hayen, who is now in her 25th season with thew Carlow Ladies Footballers. We invited Hayden on the KCLR Sport show to have a chat about her long service to the county and what keeps her going.

On Sunday before Kilkenny played Offaly in the hurling league, we met Kilkenny minor football manager Eoin Hennessy for chat about the work he is doing with his young squad.

Carlow opened their Allianz League division 4 campaign with a 2-16 to 1-15 win over Antrim at the Rogers Casements club in Antrim. We had the game live on KCLR and afterwards Brendan Henessy got lots of reaction from players, management and analysts.

Carlow collected silverware last night beating Wicklow in the O'Byrne Shield Final. 2-13 to 1-7 the final score. The game was live on KCLR and our match commentator Brendan Hennessy got all the reaction.

Last week Carlow's Niall Culleton earned his spot on the PDC tour where he'll mix it with the best including Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price and Gian van Veen.We had a chat with Culleton about what lies ahead and his journey so far.

Carlow enjoyed a 2-15 to 3-9 win over Laois yesterday in the Dioralyte O’Byrne Shield semi final in Rathvilly. Ross Dunphy and Colm Hulton with the goals for Carlow. After the game we caught up with Carlow manager Joe Murphy and forwards Conor Doyle and Colm Hulton as well as Laois boss Justin McNulty. We also hear from Aaron Amond, Ciara Kavanagh and Bronagh Nolan who were winners at the Carlow GAA awards.

Colm Hulton scored 1-3 as Carlow beat Wexford 1-13 to 0-13 in the O'Byrne Shield quarter final at St Patricks GAA club in Tullow. It was a special night for Paddy Doyle from the host club St Pats who came off the bench to score the second last point of the game on what was his debut. Joe Murphy's side will now face Laois in the semi final this Saturday at 2 in Rathvilly and the game will be live on KCLR. Last week CK United were confirmed as one of the teams accepted into the FAI National League.The league will be the third tier of the League of Ireland and while it will be a truncated season with no promotion in 2026, it will be a full season to run alongside the first and premier divisions in 2027. That will include promotion and relegation as well as a place in Sports Direct FAI Senior Cup.CK United Sporing Director Shane Dunphy called into studio for a chat.

26 year old Lando Norris was crowned F-1 world champion for the first time last week.A third placed finish in Abu Dhabi enough for him to pip Max Verstappen to the title with Oscar Piastri third.Thomas Maher of Planet F-1.com has been speaking all about it with Donagh Maher.

After making a positive impact during his spell as interim Manager Joe Murphy has been handed thew reigns on a full-time basis.Their first competitive game with Murphy as full time manager takes place on Saturday January 3rd when Offaly come to Eire Og. Regardless of the result Carlow will have a game on Wednesday January 7th in the O'Byrne Cup or Shield and that will be held in Brother Leo Park in Tullow.Ahead of the new season we caught up with Murphy for a chat.

On Sunday Muckalee will look to win an AIB LGFA All-Ireland Junior Club Final for the very first time, in their way are Cromane from Kerry.The game is on in Parnell Park and is live on KCLR's Kilkenny frequency at 2pm.Ahead of the game we heard from both camps including Muckalee captain Clodagh Hanlon.

Muckalee have an AIB All-Ireland Ladies Club Final to look forward to following their 3-6 to 1-4 win over Galway's Menlough/Skehana in today's semi final.Yesterday Fighting Cocks reached a first ever Leinster Final with a 3-11 to 2-10 win over St Brigids in Longford, their manager Gary Nolan discussed that win and the upcoming final with us.

Sligo and Wexford are in the bowl for the Tailteann Cup quarter-finals. Alan McLoughlin scored 1-3 as Sligo overcame Carlow by 1-27 to 2-19 . Paddy Mc Donnell scored 2 goals for Sligo while Ross Dunphy once again excelled and was named Detail Menswear man of the match by Willie Quinlan. Carlow manager Joe Murphy has praised the attitude of his players following their Tailteann Cup win away to Fermanagh. Mikey Bambrick netted twice while John Murphy also grabbed a goal as the Leinster side overcame the Ernesiders. 3-18 to 2-18 the final score in Brewster Park. Next Sunday at 2 Carlow get their Tailteann Cup campaign underway when they face Fermanagh in Brewster Park, that’s a game that will be live on KCLR thanks to Dan Morrissey and Co. After that it’s games against Wexford and Longford. Last Friday Club Carlow held their Golf Classic and we headed up to Carlow Golf Club to chat to Carlow manager Joe Murphy.

The Chairperson of the Oireachtas Sports Committee says 'it's bananas' that in today's day and age there are rules forcing our camogie players to wear SKORTS. Labour's Alan Kelly has become the latest to have his say and he's inviting the Camogie Association to the Oireachtas Sports Committee to deal with the issue 'once and for all'. It follows yesterday's protest at the Leinster semi-finals when players were ordered to change after attempting to play in shorts. Kilkenny's Katie Power was amongst those players and earlier today she spoke to Oisin Langan.
