    Carlow Golf Pro Harry Ewing on following Rory McIlroy around Augusta as he claimed a second Masters

    Rory McIlroy's become only the fourth golfer to retain the Masters title after winning by one shot. The defending champion carded a final round 71 to finish on 12 under-par - just ahead of world number one Scottie Scheffler at Augusta. He follows in the footsteps of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods in securing green jackets in back-to-back years. Last year's runner-up Justin Rose was part of a group, including fellow Englishman Tyrrell Hatton, a stroke further back. Shane Lowry's final round 80 saw the former Open champion fall back to one-under-par.Carlow's Harry Ewing followed Rory around the course and joined us to discuss it.

    Promotion is still in Carlow's hands despite today's 1-19 to 1-14 defeat to Longford at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.Up next for Joe Murphy's side are home games against London on Saturday March 15th at 6 pm and then Leitrim at 1 pm on Sunday March 22nd. A win in either game is enough to earn a place in division 3 as well as a Croke Park showpiece.  The Carlow ladies winning streak continued beating Longford 4-16 to 3 points.

    Kilkenny's Seanie Maguire scored twice as Cork City beat Wexford 4-1  in the first division.In the Premier division Thomastown's Colm Whelan started as Bohemians beat  Derry 1-0 at the Ryan McBride Brandywell.Elsewhere Jimmy Keohane captained Galway to a 1-all draw away to Shels, Shamrock Rovers beat St Pats 2-0 and Dundalk drew 1 all with Drogheda.Padraig Amond skippered Waterford as drew nil-all with Sligo Rovers, after the game Amond spoke to us as did Johnny Dunleavy.

    Carlow made it 4 wins from 4 in the Allianz Football League over the weekend beating Waterford 1-26 to 15 points at Netwatch Cullen Park.It was also a great weekend for the Carlow Ladies who won a historic 5th match in a row beating Derry 2-12 to 1-7.Following Saturday's win Brendan Henessy got the reaction of Christopher Blake, Conor Crowley and Manager Joe Murphy.

    Carlow enjoyed a 2-15 to 3-9 win over Laois yesterday in the Dioralyte O’Byrne Shield semi final in Rathvilly. Ross Dunphy and Colm Hulton with the goals for Carlow. After the game we caught up with Carlow manager Joe Murphy and forwards Conor Doyle and Colm Hulton as well as Laois boss Justin McNulty. We also hear from Aaron Amond, Ciara Kavanagh and Bronagh Nolan who were winners at the Carlow GAA awards.

It was a special night for Paddy Doyle from the host club St Pats who came off the bench to score the second last point of the game on what was his debut. Joe Murphy's side will now face Laois in the semi final this Saturday at 2 in Rathvilly and the game will be live on KCLR.     Last week CK United were confirmed as one of the teams accepted into the FAI National League.The league will be the third tier of the League of Ireland and while it will be a truncated season with no promotion in 2026, it will be a full season to run alongside the first and premier divisions in 2027.     After making a positive impact during his spell as interim Manager Joe Murphy has been handed thew reigns on a full-time basis.Their first competitive game with Murphy as full time manager takes place on Saturday January 3rd when Offaly come to Eire Og. Regardless of the result Carlow will have a game on Wednesday January 7th in the O'Byrne Cup or Shield and that will be held in Brother Leo Park in Tullow.Ahead of the new season we caught up with Murphy for a chat.

Labour's Alan Kelly has become the latest to have his say and he's inviting the Camogie Association to the Oireachtas Sports Committee to deal with the issue 'once and for all'. It follows yesterday's protest at the Leinster semi-finals when players were ordered to change after attempting to play in shorts.
