KS 431 - Stewardship Over Ownership
Send us Fan MailThe pressure you feel might not be coming from your workload. It might be coming from a single belief: “It all belongs to me, so it all depends on me.” That idea sounds responsible, even admirable, but it can quietly crush Christian entrepreneurs, executives, and fathers who are trying to lead well while carrying the full emotional weight of outcomes they can’t control. I’m sharing a story that stopped me in my tracks, one I heard connected to David Green from Hobby Lobby. As he wrestled with succession planning while the business reached the billion-dollar level, a moment in prayer reframed everything: if he weren’t the owner, he’d focus on being a faithful CEO and let the owner handle ownership decisions. Then came the realization that changes how you lead a business, build a legacy, and sleep at night: God is the Owner. We’re the stewards. From there, we walk through the biblical framework behind stewardship, including Jesus’ parables about servants entrusted with resources and the parable of the talents. We talk about why God provides opportunities, people, and resources, and why we’re still accountable to multiply what we’ve been given. We also bring it home to leadership in the family, where stewardship creates both clarity and freedom without lowering the standard for excellence. If this connects with you, share it with a friend who’s carrying too much, subscribe for more marketplace Christianity, and leave a review so more leaders can find the show. KS 430 - Why Rushing An Inheritance Can Hurt Your Family
Send us Fan MailWhat if the fastest way to lose a blessing is to grab it too soon? We dig into Proverbs 20:21 and follow a true story of pressure, surrender, and a surprising 148% return that came from saying yes to boundaries and no to haste. It starts with a young couple chasing a first home, a quiet prayer that resets their pace, and a below‑market opportunity that only makes sense in hindsight. The twist: a small inheritance comes with strings attached—use it for a down payment, not the stock market. Pride flares, patience wins, and years later the numbers tell a better story than any hot tip. From there, we zoom out to the heart of generational wealth. Money alone doesn’t make a legacy; it needs wisdom, timing, and responsibility. We talk through how parents can stop keeping their financial lives in the dark and start mentoring their kids with practical, age‑appropriate steps. Think dinner‑table breakdowns of big purchases, letting teens co‑pilot a savings plan, and introducing a “family bank” with a clear purpose and rules that train real‑world decision‑making. Stewardship becomes a rhythm, not a lecture—rooted in faith, grounded in action, and focused on character as much as cash. You’ll hear how surrender opened doors that striving kept shut, why counsel beats gut feelings, and how to frame risk, liquidity, and purpose so your money serves a mission bigger than you. By the end, you’ll have a blueprint to teach your children earlier, structure your giving and saving with intention, and turn inheritance from a windfall into an apprenticeship. If this resonates, share it with one person who needs a nudge toward patient, purpose‑driven wealth. KS 429 - Why Fasting Can Shape Your Family’s Future For 150 Years
Send us Fan MailWhat if your next fast didn’t just change your week but shaped your family line? Tyler opens up about moving from a check‑the‑box approach to faith into a fasted life that reorders love, clarifies calling, and points everything toward legacy. From the first awkward seven‑day attempt to eleven years of 21‑day January fasts, he shares the surprising ways God used hunger to open doors, surface a life word, and move him from crisis management to multi‑generational vision. We talk about why fasting belongs alongside prayer and generosity as a core Christian practice—and why it’s not about legalism or spiritual theatrics. You’ll hear how a timely book cracked open a deeper love for Jesus, how the word arise reframed a hard season of handling family estates, and why this year’s theme, recover all, lands with courage. The turning point arrives at the gym, headphones on, hearing a chapter called For the Little Ones. That phrase redirects the entire fast: pray not only for personal breakthrough or current kids, but for grandchildren, future spouses, and great‑grandchildren we may never meet.Scripture stitches this vision together. Deuteronomy calls us to teach and remember. Daniel’s fasted life shows how consecration can ripple across centuries, shaping cultures even without direct descendants. We translate that into practice: pick a sustainable fast, anchor it in Scripture, set a clear timeframe, pray specific generational petitions, and reflect on what God highlights. The goal is a family culture that seeks God first, handles money and calling wisely, and stands unshaken in storms. If you’ve never fasted, start small and aim honest. If you’re seasoned, widen your target. Ask God for a word for the year, and let that guide your prayers for those yet to come. KS 428 - Building A Multi-Generational Culture Of Generosity
Send us Fan MailReady to turn generosity from a good intention into a family culture that lasts? We walk through a practical, faith-driven blueprint for building a multi-generational legacy—one that aligns your money, mission, and mindset so your children and their children can carry it forward with clarity and conviction. We start by reframing success through a family worldview: Scripture emerges from family and tribe, not isolated individuals, and that lens changes everything. Instead of raising kids to simply “launch,” we equip a team to advance together. From there, we unpack the tools that make legacy real: writing a family vision, mission, and values; holding regular family meetings; and creating a code of conduct for conflict and restoration. These simple rhythms protect trust, turn principles into practice, and keep everyone rowing in the same direction. Then we get tactical about generosity. You’ll hear why a dedicated giving account prevents hesitation, how clear guidelines focus impact, and how giving meetings help kids participate in wise decisions. We dig into a stewardship philosophy that starts with God’s ownership and ends with eternal impact, showing how stories and shared experiences make the lesson stick. Along the way, we highlight modern and biblical models—from the Green family’s structured generosity to King David’s catalytic gift—that inspire bold action without drift. By the end, you’ll have seven concrete steps to make generosity sticky: define stewardship, model it, fund a giving bucket, set guidelines, meet regularly, practice random kindness, and automate systematic giving. If this sparks your heart, share it with someone who needs a framework, then write your stewardship philosophy and open that giving bucket. KS 425 - Work With, Not For: The Divine Partnership
Send us Fan MailThe difference between working "for" God versus working "with" God might seem subtle, but it represents a revolutionary shift for marketplace Christians. Are you experiencing burnout, frustration, and diminishing returns despite your best efforts? The problem might not be your work ethic but your fundamental approach.Drawing from Proverbs 22:29 and the example of Bezalel in Exodus 31, Tyler shares how God values skilled craftsmanship combined with spiritual partnership. Through vulnerable stories from his college track career, Tyler illustrates how shifting from relentless self-effort to rhythmic partnership with God transformed both his athletic performance and academic success. This wasn't about working less—it was about working differently, with boundaries, intentionality, and trust. The divine partnership model offers a refreshing alternative to the exhausting cycle of striving that plagues so many professionals. When we invite Holy Spirit into our daily work, release control of outcomes, establish sustainable rhythms, and reframe our definition of success, we experience what Jesus promised in Matthew 11:28-30—an easy yoke and a light burden. The highest form of faith, Tyler suggests, isn't found in feverish activity but in restful trust that God is working through our competency.Whether you're an entrepreneur, sales professional, or employee seeking greater impact, this message offers practical strategies for moving from frustration to flow. The greatest testament to your faith might not be how hard you work, but how peacefully you partner. Ready to stop apologizing and start winning? KS 424 - Hope Is Not a Strategy: Family Planning for Christians
Send us Fan MailWhat's the missing element in your family legacy plan? Most successful entrepreneurs wouldn't dream of running a business without a strategic plan, yet we often leave our most important organization—our families—to operate without clear direction or purpose. The reason God chose Abraham reveals the answer. Genesis 18:19 tells us God selected Abraham specifically because "he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord." This divine endorsement of family planning serves as our foundation for creating lasting legacies that extend beyond financial success.A comprehensive family plan consists of several critical components. Start with a vision statement—a concise declaration of what your family stands for (mine is "Passion for Jesus, compassion for people"). Develop a mission statement outlining how you'll live that vision daily. Identify core values that define your family character—these become the filters through which you make decisions. Finally, create a family constitution establishing rules for handling conflicts, money, responsibilities, and time.Implementing this framework requires intentional family gatherings where everyone contributes to the conversation about what you collectively value. Document these discussions and revisit them regularly during family meetings. As Habakkuk 2:2 instructs, "Write the vision down, make it plain." My family has begun this journey by exploring what the McCart family should be known for—loyalty, family unity, generosity, and Spirit-led decision-making.The benefits are transformative: unity during challenges, clear decision-making frameworks, stronger identity in your children, and effective transfer of both wealth and values to future generations. Don't leave your family's legacy to chance. Start crafting your family vision today, and discover how this intentionality becomes the foundation for generational impact.Have you started developing your family plan? KS 423 - Your children deserve both spiritual and financial inheritance.
Send us Fan MailWhat if everything you've been taught about legacy is only half the story? Most Christians compartmentalize legacy into two separate silos: the spiritual (faith, salvation, values) and the material (money, property, inheritance). But Scripture paints a more integrated picture—one where resources and revelation work together to create lasting impact.Tyler McCart challenges the false dichotomy between spiritual and financial inheritance, using Abraham as the biblical model who both "commanded his children to keep the ways of the Lord" and was "blessed with flocks, herds, silver, gold, and servants." This holistic approach to legacy requires intentional action, not accidental happenstance.Through personal examples like his family's Sunday evening prayer and planning time, Tyler demonstrates how spiritual practices can naturally incorporate financial wisdom. He shares how he recently involved his children in understanding a business decision, explaining both the financial reasoning and the spiritual discernment that guided it. These intentional touchpoints create a framework where values and resources strengthen each other."If you leave money without values, it's just entitlement and waste. If you leave values without resources, your children struggle," Tyler explains. The biblical pattern shows that God intends for marketplace Christians to excel in both areas, passing down a comprehensive legacy that equips future generations to advance God's Kingdom.Whether you're just beginning to think about legacy or looking to strengthen what you've already built, this episode provides practical steps to integrate faith and finances in your family planning. KS 422 - The Paradox of Kingdom Success: Why Chasing Results Sabotages Your Blessings
Send us Fan MailHave you ever noticed how frantically chasing success often leads to frustration, while faithfulness seems to attract blessings effortlessly? This paradox forms the heart of our exploration in this thought-provoking episode.Drawing from Proverbs 28:20, we unpack a powerful truth that's easily overlooked in our achievement-oriented culture: "Faithfulness to God can't help but produce increase, but increase can't be the goal or it's out of order." This divine principle challenges the way many of us approach our work, businesses, and ministry efforts. When we invert God's order by making results our primary focus, we create pressure that ultimately sabotages the very success we seek.Through practical insights and biblical wisdom, we examine how faithfulness functions as the root from which all increase grows. Whether you're building a business, developing a ministry, or advancing in your career, you'll discover why the highest form of faith isn't striving harder—it's resting confidently in your faithfulness to God's principles while trusting Him with the outcomes. As Proverbs reminds us, "The horse is made ready for battle, but victory comes from the Lord."This message will transform your understanding of Kingdom success by showing you how to release the pressure of performance without sacrificing excellence. The blessings that flow from faithfulness aren't meant to be idols we pursue but tools that advance God's purposes through our lives. Ready to experience the freedom that comes from putting faithfulness first? This episode might be exactly what you need to hear right now.If this message resonates with you, consider whether someone in your circle needs this perspective too. KS 421 - Crafting Your Family Constitution: The Blueprint for Generational Legacy
Send us Fan MailDo you meticulously plan your business strategy but wing it when it comes to your family's future? You're not alone. In this powerful episode, Tyler McCart shares a wake-up call for marketplace Christians about the glaring disconnect between how we approach business planning versus family planning.Tyler recounts a story from speaker Randy Pope who, at a business conference, challenged executives on this very contradiction. These leaders unanimously agreed they would never invest in a venture without a comprehensive plan, yet when asked about their life and family plans, the room fell silent. This revelation becomes the springboard for Tyler's passionate call to create family constitutions—frameworks that unite spiritual values with financial legacy.Drawing from biblical principles and personal experience, Tyler explores how a family constitution serves as the North Star for generational wealth transfer that honors God. He outlines practical steps for defining family values, creating a shared vision, and establishing governance structures that can preserve both spiritual heritage and financial resources across multiple generations. Just as Moses documented Israel's stories in the Torah, Tyler encourages families to document their values and formative stories to guide future generations. This isn't about controlling your children's paths, but rather establishing a structure that can help pass along generational values and wealth for three generations or more. Tyler references the Rockefeller family's seven-generation success as an example of what's possible with intentional planning.Ready to stop compartmentalizing your faith and finances? KS 420 - Your Family Is Your First Ministry: How to Build a Nation That Lasts
Send us Fan MailYour calling as a Marketplace Christian extends far beyond professional success—it encompasses creating a lasting family legacy that influences generations. Drawing from Jeremiah 29:5-7, Tyler McCart unpacks the biblical mandate to "build houses, plant gardens, take wives, and have sons and daughters" as a strategic blueprint for kingdom expansion. The concept of "starting your own nation" begins with establishing roots. When you own property, build businesses, and create stability, you're positioning yourself for greater kingdom impact. But the heart of this mandate centers on family formation. As Tyler points out, "God specifically chose Abraham because 'he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the ways of the Lord.'" Your commitment to raising godly children isn't just a personal family matter—it's a divine appointment to extend God's kingdom through generations.Perhaps most provocatively, Tyler challenges the modern reluctance toward family formation with biblical perspective: "Grandchildren are a crown to grandparents." He shares practical advice for preparing your children to make wise marriage choices, emphasizing that "next to following Christ, the choice of a mate is the most important decision your children will make." Rather than leaving this to chance, Tyler advocates intentional coaching on character traits and relationship development. The blueprint expands beyond family walls to community engagement. Like Mordecai, Joseph, and Daniel who influenced pagan governments from within, you're called to "seek the welfare of the city" where you're planted. Your sphere of influence represents your unique territory for kingdom impact—relationships you build intentionally that establish Christ's presence in places that might otherwise remain untouched. KS 419 - Start Your Own Nation: Building God's Kingdom in Babylon
Send us Fan MailHave you been so focused on national issues that you've missed your opportunity for local kingdom impact? That's exactly where Tyler McHart found himself before a profound shift in his thinking about Christian engagement in business, family, and community.Drawing from Jeremiah 29's surprising instructions to exiled Israelites in Babylon, Tyler unpacks how believers are called not to retreat from hostile territory but to establish themselves firmly within it. "Build houses, plant gardens, have children..." wasn't just advice for ancient Jews—it's a blueprint for modern Christians seeking to create lasting impact in their communities.Tyler challenges compartmentalized thinking that keeps our faith, business, and civic engagement in separate silos. Through personal stories—including a powerful family gathering where he and his sisters intentionally passed down their mother's values to ten grandchildren—he illustrates what it means to establish a godly legacy that transcends generations. This episode explores how Christians can "start their own nation" by creating wealth through entrepreneurship, establishing family values that resist cultural corruption, and strategically engaging with local government and business networks. Tyler shares his journey from national-level political focus to meaningful local involvement, including developing relationships with state representatives and community leaders.Whether you're a business owner, employee, parent, or simply a believer looking to maximize your kingdom impact, this message offers practical steps for becoming more intentionally engaged in transforming your community from the inside out. As Tyler says, "The family is going to help change the world, and I believe that starts with strong fathers, men of God that have a vision for their life."Ready to plant your garden in "Satan's city" and create an oasis of godly influence? KS 418 - From Building Businesses to Building Cities: How Faithful Marketplace Christians Receive Greater Responsibilities
Send us Fan MailGod is looking for marketplace Christians who understand the power of partnership. Are you ready to expand your vision beyond your business? The Parable of the Minas in Luke 19 offers profound insights that most churches rarely address. Unlike the more commonly taught Parable of the Talents, here every servant receives exactly the same amount—one mina—and something fascinating happens with those who prove faithful. Their reward isn't more money or a simple "well done." Instead, they receive authority over cities. This spiritual principle reveals how God expands the influence of those who demonstrate faithfulness in business matters. We see the natural progression: faithful stewardship in business leads to community impact, which opens doors to city-level influence. The currency of the Kingdom isn't just financial success but expanded responsibility.Through powerful real-world examples—from a 21-year-old hotel manager whose faithfulness earned him significant responsibility to business leaders whose community involvement saved libraries and shaped town centers—we discover that marketplace ministry extends far beyond profit margins. Your business acumen, when submitted to God's purposes, becomes a launch pad for community transformation. Most Christian entrepreneurs think too small, focusing only on how their business can fund ministry rather than seeing their business AS ministry. When we break down the false separation between "spiritual" and "financial" realms, we position ourselves to create generational impact through our families and far-reaching influence through our communities.Ready to stop treating your faith and business as separate silos? Want to explore how your marketplace calling might be preparing you for greater Kingdom impact? This episode challenges you to raise your vision from making "baby minas" to influencing cities. The question isn't whether God wants to use you beyond your business—it's whether you're ready to partner with Him when He does.Support the show

KS 417 - Faithful Over Successful
Send us Fan MailWhat if everything we've been taught about success is backward? In this thought-provoking exploration of biblical principles, Tyler McHart challenges listeners to embrace faithfulness over success and consistency over spectacular outcomes. The journey begins with an examination of Proverbs 22:29 and a startling revelation: the word "success" appears only once in scripture, while "faithful" is mentioned at least 18 times in the Old Testament alone. This disparity reveals God's priorities and metrics for evaluating our lives and work. Through Jesus's parables about stewardship—both the Talents (Matthew 25) and Minas (Luke 19)—we discover that God rewards faithful consistency rather than mere achievement. Most striking is the realization that the reward for faithfulness isn't a comfortable retirement but greater responsibility. "I will put you in charge of ten cities," the master tells the faithful servant. This kingdom principle transforms how we approach our daily responsibilities, family life, and business endeavors. Success follows faithfulness when we're consistent in small things.Tyler shares personal examples from parenting his son, highlighting that faithfulness begins with simply showing up—to your Bible reading, prayer time, work commitments, and family responsibilities. Just showing up creates the possibility for something good to happen, while not showing up guarantees nothing will.Ready to shift your focus from chasing success to cultivating faithfulness? Just as that young athlete programmed himself for victory before he ever stepped onto the championship mound, we too must program our minds with God's promises before facing life's challenges. Most believers fall into the trap of "Sunday Christianity," never taking the time to truly internalize Scripture. KS 415 - The 90-Day Bible Challenge
Send us Fan MailA chance YouTube video about a 96-year-old pastor who had read the Bible over 1,200 times sparked my curiosity and challenge: could I read the entire Bible in just 90 days? Not only did I complete this challenge once, but I've just finished my second consecutive 90-day reading plan—essentially consuming the entire Scripture twice in six months. This accelerated approach to Bible reading revealed something profound that my previous annual reading plans never could. Rather than examining small portions of Scripture in isolation, reading large chunks daily allowed me to step back and see God's grand narrative unfold like viewing an entire painting instead of focusing on a two-inch corner. The chronological arrangement provided crucial context, especially when moving between historical books and prophetic writings. Witnessing Paul's missionary journeys in Acts alongside his epistles brought new depth to familiar passages. My method combined visual reading with audio input—following along in my physical Bible while listening through earbuds—which required 30-45 minutes of daily commitment. The dual-input approach helped maintain focus and improved retention. Throughout this experience, God's persistent faithfulness became unmistakably clear, even through the sometimes-depressing sections of judgment found in the prophetic books.Despite the tremendous benefits, I'm now feeling led to slow down again. The rapid pace left little time for meditation, journaling, and allowing specific passages to deeply penetrate my heart. There's a balance to be found between seeing Scripture's grand narrative and camping out in individual chapters where the Holy Spirit can speak personally.Have you ever read through the entire Bible? Whether you choose a 90-day sprint or a more measured pace, I challenge you to experience the fullness of God's Word in 2024. KS 411 - The Go-Giver Mindset: Transforming Your Business Through Giving
Send us Fan MailWhat does it truly mean to succeed as a Christian in the marketplace? Tyler McHart dives deep into this question, drawing from his 12-year journey as an entrepreneur and his transformative encounter with "The Go-Giver" philosophy. The pivotal moment came when Tyler was about 30 years old, working in corporate sales and desperately seeking a different approach to business. A simple yet profound quote from minister Mike Murdoch changed everything: "What you make happen for another, God will make happen for you." This single idea perfectly aligned with what Tyler discovered in the book "The Go-Giver" - that by focusing on creating value for others rather than yourself, success naturally follows.Tyler makes a compelling case that everyone engages in selling, regardless of their formal role. Whether you're a parent encouraging your child to eat vegetables or a minister sharing the gospel, you're selling ideas and choices. He shares the fascinating etymology of the word "sell," which comes from the Old English "sellan" meaning "to give" - a revelation that transforms how we understand sales entirely. The true definition of selling, Tyler explains, is "learning what people do want to do and helping them do that."Ready to transform your approach to business and life? KS 409 - Slow Down to Speed Up
Send us Fan MailHave you ever noticed that Jesus—despite carrying the most critical mission in history—was never in a hurry? This profound observation has been challenging me for years as the Holy Spirit consistently whispers: "Tyler, slow down." In our hyper-connected world where information bombards us at unprecedented rates, we've normalized a pace of life that runs contrary to how Jesus operated. After reading "The Relentless Elimination of Hurry" by Mark Comer, I've been confronting this tension between modern expectations and divine example. What if, instead of simply trying to imitate Jesus' character, we actually adopted His lifestyle—including His deliberate, unhurried pace? This episode explores a powerful principle I've been meditating on, borrowed from Navy SEAL tactical training: "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." These elite warriors understand that deliberate, controlled movements under pressure lead to superior outcomes compared to rushed, panicked actions. KS 408 - Decision-Making Without Pressure: Discerning God's Direction in Business
Send us Fan MailHave you ever felt pressured to make an important business decision right away? That uncomfortable feeling of being rushed or pushed may actually be revealing something crucial about the source of that guidance. The concept that "Holy Spirit is a gentleman" transforms how we approach decision-making in business and life. When faced with opportunities—even multi-million dollar ones—there's a profound difference between feeling pulled toward something and being pushed into it. This episode unpacks a powerful discernment tool I learned years ago that has saved me from countless fear-based decisions.Drawing from Ephesians 3:20-21, we explore how God works "not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us." This gentle wooing stands in stark contrast to the high-pressure tactics we often encounter in business negotiations. When someone says, "If you don't decide now, the offer's gone," that pressure rarely aligns with God's patient, drawing nature. For Christian entrepreneurs navigating complex business landscapes, this principle provides a reliable litmus test: if it creates anxiety rather than peace, if it demands immediate action through fear rather than confidence, it likely isn't divine guidance. Through personal stories, scripture insights, and practical application, this episode equips you to recognize the difference between the anxious push of human demands and the peaceful pull of God's direction.Subscribe to continue exploring how faith and business success intersect, and share your own experiences with discerning God's gentle guidance in high-stakes decisions!Support the show

KS 404 - FAITH AND BUSINESS: A JOURNEY FROM PULPIT TO MARKETPLACE
Send us Fan MailAfter years of picturing myself in the pulpit, I discovered my true calling wasn't confined to a church, but rather in the bustling world of business. What happens when faith meets the marketplace? This episode of "The Success Edge" reveals how embracing your God-given talents without apology can lead to a life of purpose and professional growth. Inspired by Proverbs 22:29, I share how integrating spirituality with work has transformed my journey from aspiring preacher to a marketplace leader, even amidst the challenges of election day anxiety. The road to understanding one's purpose is rarely straightforward. My college years were marked by unexpected challenges, like a fractured arm that abruptly changed my athletic path. These setbacks guided me toward a newfound passion in business, sparked by a marketing class and the influence of a dedicated coach. From decathlon athlete to hammer thrower, my evolution wasn't just physical. It was in these moments of transformation and a mission trip to Europe that I met my future wife, Amy J Ellis, underscoring the serendipitous beauty of life's journey.Mentorship played a vital role during times of personal struggle, offering guidance when I needed it most. Navigating relationships and maintaining purity were significant challenges, but a chance encounter at church led to transformative growth. With gratitude, I reflect on the profound impact my mentor had on shaping my path. Join me as I recount these pivotal experiences and affirm the belief that we are indeed blessed, highly favored, and empowered to prosper in our endeavors.Support the show
