Part 1 - An Unconventional Journey from Music to Law with Yvan Guy Larocque
My next guest is Yvan Guy Larocque, a Red River Métis citizen, Indigenous Business Lawyer, and University professor. However, his journey to becoming a lawyer took unexpected turns.I first met Yvan at a Red River Métis business conference in Winnipeg. Despite his polished appearance and charm, what surprised me was his deep connection to the local music scene. As co-owner of The Good Will Social Club, I was taken aback when Yvan mentioned that his band, PIE - a tribute to Cake, had performed there numerous times. This juxtaposition of lawyer and musician challenged my preconceived notions. But there's more to Yvan's story than meets the eye. Yvan's journey is anything but conventional, from his roots in a small Métis community to military service, activism, and musical endeavours with a dream team of local musicians. Join us as we connect the dots of his extraordinary life.

In our next episode, I'm thrilled to welcome not just one, but TWO special guests – the dynamic duo behind Winnipeg’s own @flowwithus.ca, Monica and Liane! 🌟I first met Monica 15 years ago through a mentorship program at @rrcpolytech. Even as a student, her star quality was undeniable, and it's been a joy to watch her journey. Fast forward to today, she’s making waves with her good friend and fellow dancer, Liane, as they co-founded the vibrant company Flow Design & Social Media. 🚀This interview revealed so much about them. While they share an infectious energy, creativity, and passion, diving deeper, I discovered the unique synergy that makes them perfect business partners and great friends. 🤝Given the richness of our conversation, we’ve decided to split this episode into two parts! Konekt the Dots Podcast - Intro
Join me as I, your host Donavan Robinson, give you a sneak peek into the essence of the Konekt the Dots podcast, a podcast about entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. It's a fun and exciting journey into the minds of today's most passionate entrepreneurs, thinkers and creators. It's about the unconventional paths we walk – or sometimes sprint, stumble, or the times we go off the beaten path and run through the bushes, climb the trees, pick the barriers. As someone diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I've become an advocate for those who think differently, who may get overlooked because they don’t follow the rules, and who challenge conventional ways of thinking. I channel my energy into creating spaces and resources that cater to the people who make this world fun and exciting, and who create experiences and environments that allow everyone to succeed. So, whether you're just starting out, scaling up, or simply seeking a spark of inspiration, this is the place for you. The Konekt the Dots Podcast is home for stories of, well the people I want to talk to because they are doing some cool stuff. Each journey is as unique as the individual. And hopefully, by tracing these paths, we help konekt the dots for you.
