WhistleKick's Jeremy Lesniak Interviews TW Smith

KFP 161 Over the past year, I had the opportunity to get introduced to Jeremy at WhistleKick.  I found him to be extraordinarily sincere, polite and professional.  In fact, I plan to have WhistleKick print some KungFu Podcast Tshirts. Trey, One of the listener's to the Whistle Kick Program wrote: July 11, 2018 at 10:17 pm "I had the opportunity to listen to this episode on the way to work this morning and it was a welcome start to the day. Among the many great guests you have had on, this one & Jesse Enkamp have been my favorites. As a student of the Chinese martial arts myself i saw much of my own journey & many of Shifu’s ideas resonated with me. I look forward to listening to some episodes of his podcast as soon as i have the chance. Thank you for the work you are doing for the community. All the best." - Trey You can download the entire transcript of the interview as well.

4 Steps to Cut Through the Chaos TKF 09

Getting through the Fog of Chaos in 4 steps is a Podcast that resonated with me as a Maritime Meditation long ago. It is the narrative story of facts how SeaMen navigated the sea’s before 1100 AD. The magnet compass was created in 206 BC, but not implemented into sea navigation until 1107 AD. KungFu was practiced upon ship decks, particularly in Southern China. With visibility less than 100 yards, knowing how to survive when you were lost at sea wasn’t just theory. I will share the stories and point out questions to ask and to avoid asking until later. Also I will share with you what real illusions that you must be aware of when you get lost in a fog at sea. Chained to the Body

KFP 214 A consensual fight took place in south China in the summer of 1872. Alfred Lister was introduced in the last podcast as an European writer, translator, politician and more, but not a martial artist. He witness this Martial Art's challenge match and the fallout afterwards. Thank you for you patience! Changing vendors with the mountain sized library I have is a big undertaking, and I not done yet. Can Tai Chi Make My Karate Better?

A recent question, "Can Tai Chi make my Shotokan Karate better", really peaked my interest. My personal response was 'of course' I have seen it many times over, and better yet, I have seen it make other things better. Golfers and swimmers both have used it, but .. why? I pulled out my old texts biomechanics, physical education and the motor learning theorem, to draft a solid response based in research and not just my opinion. https://twsmith.us/meetme https://kungfupodcasts.com

    BaGua 1930 Training Manual Pt1

Nearly 100 years ago, there were several martial art institutes designed to stamp out the 'magic' and 'non-sense crap' that was running in several systems of martial arts. This concise Bagua training manual was released by an excellent practitioner, who was also a son to one of the best Bagua practitioners known. Yin Fu also became the equivalent of the secret service for the Emperor's circle, and was successful during battle testing. This 24 minute episode of part 1 lays the frame work of understanding of the core principles of the book and the art. Members receive early release and personal notes of the episodes. The First Steps of Yip Man

Private Lineage stories are not history. Characters are added and removed, while other character relationships are altered. Not to mention that most lineages are a marketing tool, tilted to who-ever is being marketed. If you want to get a snapshot of the 'bigger' picture, you have to look into broader sources. Which is why we are going to look into the environment that Yip Man was walking into when he started his professional career in Southern China in 1950. **Spoiler Alert** This will fly in the face of some common lineage stories. https://kungfupodcasts.com/young-wing-chun-professional-in-1950/

Professor Judkins is going to take both arguments and give them a twist to consider, to make your messages more inspiring. Laying the framework for the next 2 episodes.

New Breed 1 Swimming in Quicksand

Sometimes, the harder you try, the worse it gets. That can happen in many things, take 'creative art', someone takes an old bed box spring, welds an old bucket and a chair on it, gives it a name and paints it.. calls it art. Someone else sees junkyard material that is in the middle of a campus. Martial Arts can take the pressure. Does it include weapons? If you don't practice self-defense, its not martial arts at all could be another argument. Before you start swimming in the quicksand, lets take a moment to see the trap, BeFore we get in it.
