    74: Chaos Dwarf Weapons & Warfare | Warhammer Old World Lore

    In our final episode on the Chaos Dwarf we look at their army design across Warhammer Fantasy editions, focusing on the transition from the 3rd to 4th edition lists, the focus of the episode, and closing out with the 8th and Old World lists. We look at the hodgepodge nature of their introduction to warhammer which included solid blocks of “Chaos Warrior Dwarfs” supported by a plethora of warmachines. We dive into the 4th edition list and some of the rules which combined heavily armoured Chaos Dwarf infantry, numerous Hobgoblin units, and goblinoid slave contingents. All augmented with Bull Centaurs, monsters, and crude but powerful artillery such as the Earthshaker Cannon.     67: Chaos Dwarfs History Pt2 | Warhammer Old World Lore

    We start this episode with a dive into the lore of Hashut (Ha-Shoot) and his role within Chaos Dwarf society. We then return to our trudge through their factional history. We rejoin the story with the Runesmiths finally being conquered by the newly empowered Sorcerer-Priests, but after months of fighting they were enslaved and sacrificed to Hashut, marking the birth of the Chaos Dwarfs. We discuss the Sorcerer-Priests raising Zharr-Naggrund, enslaving greenskins and humans, and triggering a great Orc, Goblin, and human migrations westward, weakening Karaz Ankor while concealing their own survival. Skaven also emerged, becoming a new source of slaves for the Chaos Dwarfs, who thrived on trade and exploitation.     66: Chaos Dwarfs History Pt1 | Warhammer Old World Lore

    In this episode we turn to the history of the Chorfs in some detail. We start with the tale of the inventor of the Whirlwind and Tenderiser warmachines and his rearing of Boar Centaurs. We discuss the lack of solid lore for the faction before diving into an apocryphal work from the 1st edition of WFRP. We look at the history of the Dwarfs of the Dark lands before Chaos came, the Dark Lands were fertile, roamed by Orcs, Goblins, and Hobgoblins. We describe the impact of the Warpgates collapse as the Dwarfs sealed themselves underground, seemingly betrayed by their own kin from the west. Now trapped beneath impenetrable rock they search for a route back to the surface, they uncover an obsidian gallery and a sealed door inscribed with arcane glyphs. The seals are broken by a Rune Lord, unleashing Hashut, Father of Darkness with hilarious consequences.     64: Bretonnian Weapons & Warfare | Warhammer Old World Lore

    In our final Bretonnian episode we take a look at the tabletop forces of the land of the Lady. We start with the 3rd edition army list which focused on replicating the real-world forces of medieval France. With the advent of 5th edition we start to see the “refined” list of Bretonnian troops and we launch into the ignoble and not so ignoble infantry the faction can field from Grail pilgrims to men-at-arms together with the newly-minted foot knights. We then turn our gaze to the mighty cavalry units and their unique land formation. Pausing briefly to once again mock the lance as a reliable weapon we then turn our faces to the skies to see the Pegasus Knights. Stepping around the field trebuchets we then run down the characters and named characters available to lead the army.     63: Bretonnian Royal Heroes | Warhammer Old World Lore

    In our penultimate Bretonnian episode, we look at the Royal heroes of the kingdom, beginning with the king. We follow the journey or Leuon Leoncouer from his early quests and combats to his “failed” grail quest and his efforts to kill a necromancer and his brief sojourn into the divine court of the Lady of the Lake herself. After drinking a suspiciously yellow liquid from the Lady’s hands he mercs the necromancer and, as a grail Knight, he secures his ascension to the throne. We have a brief examination of The Green Knight, mystical champion of the Lady with a quite familiar battle style.     In this episode we turn our attention to the dark reflection of Bretonnian nobility, not chaos but the forces of Undeath!. We return to the tale of Merovech d'Mousillon who has risen from his mausoleum  to find it ruled by a Varghulf. We track his progress as he seeks out worthy companions and ultimately sets the brothers Garamont against each other and seals not only his fate but that of a renewed Bretonnia.     We start with a mysterious mystery of the Herrimaults (Eh-ree-Mau) which Cral gets straight away and Dar loses his temper. We explore what it takes to become a Hairy-Mole and what their day to day life is like, their relations with other peasants and their local nobility their Leaders are desperate to hold to account.     57: Bretonnian History Part 3 | Warhammer Old World Lore

    Following on from the unification of Bretonnia by Gilles and his road men, we look at their eventual aging and death as they become legends. Gilles’ son Louis the Rash codifies the Code of Chivalry and we look at the creation of modern-day Bretonnia because of it… mostly turf wars, questing and problems with orcs. We join the Bretonnians on their crusade to free the old world from the forces of Sultan Jaffar (yes, we know) and follow them into Araby proper. We explore the key battles of the crusade and look at the sultan's increasingly chaos allied forces.     We cast our eyes back to the prehistory of Bretonnia and look at the exodus from the Southlands that led to the land's population and the challenges they faced there… mostly in shades of green.     Continuing our dive into the chaos gods and their champions, it is the turn of the martial  blood god Khorne. We start with an existential conversation on what drives mortals to become his champions and their violent relationship with other champions, using the former Knight of the Blazing Suns, Slaurith, as a prime example. We turn our attention to the murderous cultists of Khorne and the blood gods strained and confusing stance on magic. We dive into the continuing adventures of Aarball the Undefeated and his enormous flesh hound mount (Gabby).     What does it take to become a Warrior of the Dark Prince? We look at the type of culture that exists within the Hordes of Slaanesh and their Slaangor Beastmen allies. Two magic items are used to illustrate the corruption of Slaanesh that may lead many to the path of Excess. We then veer north and describe a number of Slaaneshi Chaos Champions. We start with two denied High Elves; Gilberion and Dechala.     In this episode we look at the campaign that never was, the Storm of Chaos ... aos ... aos... We start with the overly eager Chaos Zar Surtha Lenk as he invades the Empire and lays siege to the Wolfenburg. We detail the internal and External schism of the empire that is somewhat resolved by the Conclave of Light. We discuss the political genius of the Emperor Karl Franz in dealing with Sigmar Reborn and the titanic battles all factions on the Fated Place must endure.     In this episode we start with the great Scouring of the Dark Elves by the Phoenix King Tethlis and his descent into bloodlust and scorched earth tactics. This is followed by a dissection of the reign of Bel-Korhadris who with the creation of both the White Tower and the Great Hunt shaped the culture and society of Ulthuan, perhaps more than any other king, into what it is today. We define their relationship to the winds of magic and what makes their mages so powerful. The resulting sundering destroys 20% of Ulthuan and gives birth to the Dark Elves. Malekith’s evil machinations continue with the instigation of the War of the Beard resulting in both the death of Caledor the Second but also the loss of the Phoenix crown.
