“Pentecost: A New Beginning” Sermon. Sunday, 5/24/2026.
The Fruit of the Spirit Living in the last days The anniversary of Christ in 7 years. Scripture Title: Pentecost: A New Beginning Scripture Reading: Acts 2:14-21 “Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” Scripture Summary: Today we celebrate Pentecost, the day when the Holy Spirit was first given to all the believers in that first church in Jerusalem. The sound of a violent wind filled the room and tongues of fire appeared over the heads of the disciples. They began to prophesy and speak in languages that they had not learned. Peter told the crowd outside that this was the fulfillment of the words of the prophet Joel that in the last days God would pour out his Holy Spirit on all people who called on His name and became His follower. We are in the last chapter of human history which is the age of the church and will culminate in the return of Jesus. Before the coming of Christ and the birth of the church, the Holy Spirit was only given to a very few exceptional people such as Moses, Abraham, David and the prophets. With the coming of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is given to all of His followers. In our Scripture passage, the spectacular signs of the Holy Spirit were full on display. Today, the presence of the Holy Spirit is mostly evidenced by a change in attitude, values, and behavior. Paul gives the characteristics of a Christian when the Holy Spirit has begun the work of transformation. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. When these qualities appear in the life of a believer, you know that the Holy Spirit is present and at work in that person’s heart. They become different than the world around them. We receive the Holy Spirit the moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ. Christ’s coming is sooner than ever before. Isaiah 11:12 called for the return of Jewish people from all over the earth to Israel just before Christ returns. That prophecy has mostly been fulfilled in our lifetime. In Matthew 24, Jesus said that the Gospel would be preached throughout the world before His return which has become a reality in our lifetime. And Jesus said that in the last days there will be a great turning away from the Lord just before His second coming. This is happening in the West. In these last days, believers should stand firm by studying and becoming rooted in God’s Word, rejecting and battling against evil, serving the church, and proclaiming the Gospel until Christ returns. Christians have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to see us through. Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Sin in the Camp” sermon. Sunday, 5/17/2026.
Church Discipline Tolerance in Today's World Fellowship in the Church Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: I CORINTHIAN SERIES Scripture Title: Sin in the Camp Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 NIV “It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”” Sermon Summary: Today’s sermon is about church discipline. In the church, the goal of discipline is correcting ungodly behavior so that the church member can become spiritually healthy and have a better relationship with Christ and their fellow believers. Church discipline is only exercised with sin that is publicly known and deeply immoral, and where the person committing it is ongoing and unrepentant. The church exercises discipline so that the church can be healthy and accomplish its mission of bringing people to faith in Christ and helping them to be better disciples of Jesus. Disobedience on the part of Christians in the church distracts from and sometimes impedes the mission. Ultimately, the goal of church discipline isn’t to punish, but to bring people back to Christ and to restore fellowship with the church. “A Sure Foundation” sermon. Sunday, 5/10/2026.
The True Foundation in life The Temple of God Manhattan Banana Good News Club Scripture Series: I CORINTHIAN SERIES Scripture Title: A Sure Foundation Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:10-19 NIV “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”;” Sermon Summary: The foundation of what you're building your life on matters. The foundation for any Christian and for the church is Jesus Christ. It begins with believing that Jesus is the son of God who died on the cross for your sins and was resurrected, and then putting your faith in him and becoming his follower. This basic faith in Christ is what anchors every life of every believer and it anchors every church that belongs to Christ. People can choose to build their lives on other foundations. Some people choose family and sometimes family isn’t dependable and can let you down. Some build their life on a career which may not last very long. Some choose other philosophies and other religions as their foundation and maybe they help for awhile, but they're not the true source of integrity and strength. The only true bedrock is Jesus Christ. All who desire to build a life that will last and weather the storms of the life choose faith in Christ as their foundation for living. And as a church, Christ is at the core of all we do. On top of this foundation, the rest of our life in Christ is built up. Paul says we can either build with garbage, wood, hay, and stubble, or we can build with value, gold, silver, and costly stones. In the first instance, wood, hay, and stubble, a person comes to faith in Jesus, but instead of living for Christ, they live to themselves. Paul says, "Don't build your life with garbage that won't last and that will fall apart. Build with excellent material that matches that superb foundation in Jesus." If you have a foundation of faith in Christ, add regular worship as part of your life. Weave the words of God into the fabric of your life and of your heart. Make God's Word a part of who you are. Tell others about Jesus and disciple them. Serve in the church and further the kingdom of heaven. This is the gold and silver that's going to strengthen your life in Christ. “Wisdom of the Spirit“ Sermon. Sunday, 5/03/2026.
Cultural Christian Doing what comes natural Spiritual translator Knowledge and Wisdom Scripture Series: I CORINTHIAN SERIES Scripture Title: Wisdom of the Spirit Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 “We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” Sermon Summary: When non-believers are faced with spiritual wisdom and truths from God’s Word, they cannot understand what is being communicated. It’s like a foreign language to them. They need a spiritual translator to understand the wisdom and principles of God. When you put your faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within you. The Holy Spirit works to transform you from the inside out. Your desires begin to change to what God desires, and you no longer live by the flesh but by the guiding of the Holy Spirit. When we have the Holy Spirit, you are able to discern right from wrong and good from evil. The Holy Spirit makes God’s wisdom and truths accessible to your heart and mind. The process isn’t instantaneous. As you study God’s Word and apply it, you are building Godly wisdom within you, and the Holy Spirit urges you to do things God’s way. There are many brilliant unbelievers who are full of worldly knowledge, but they do not have the spirit of God and are not wise. They are blind to God’s truths and they lack discernment. As Christians, we need to be prepared to be misunderstood by our unbelieving neighbors. We should expect non-believers to act like unspiritual people because their hearts have not been changed. As a follower of Jesus, God has equipped you to be his servant, his light in the darkness. You are able to see the world as God sees it because of His Spirit. You have what you need to carry out the mission that God has planned for you. In Him, you lack nothing. Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“A Stumbling Block” Sermon. Sunday, 4/26/2026.
The Lifeboat Provided by God Human wisdom Titanic Scripture Series: I CORINTHIAN SERIES Scripture Title: A Stumbling Block Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 NIV “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”” Scripture Summary: Our Scripture passage says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing.” Popular culture has a way of portraying Christians as simple minded, unsophisticated, and narrow minded because of our singular focus on Jesus as the truth about life, death and eternity. The teachings of Christ are often country to the wisdom of this world. Human produced wisdom and knowledge will often collide with the word of God and the wisdom of God. Paul says the the Gospel of Christ which says that Jesus died not the cross for your sins so that you can be saved from the judgement of God, is an actual stumbling block to those who think they are wise. Many people do not believe that they are all that bad. That they really aren’t guilty before a righteous God and deserving of judgement and punishment. Many believe that they can save themselves by good works. And so they don’t really need Christ dying on the cross for their sins. So they either refuse God’s forgiveness in Christ or they are overly confident that they will be just fine with their own personal philosophy. One of the hardest things in coming to the Gospel is admitting that we can’t earn God’s favor on our own and that we are helpless and in need of forgiveness. Admitting that I’m fallen and in desperate need of help. The world’s wisdom says be strong and pull yourself up by the bootstraps. This is tough for those who are strong and accomplished in the world. This is why God often is able to reach people who are not much by the standards of this world. The poor, those broken by life, those who haven’t been big achievers, don’t have to get over themselves like those who haven’t accomplished something in life. This may be why most people who come to faith in Jesus before the age of 18. When you are young, you come before the Lord with empty hands and nothing to offer. God can use anyone poor or rich, with a PhD or no degree at all. But we’ve got to come to the cross empty handed. We’ve got to leave behind all of our preconceptions of how the world is supposed to work and how we think God ought to act. We simply come to the Lord and say Jesus, I accept you as you have revealed yourself to me in Scripture and through the Holy Spirit. I accept your forgiveness purchased for me on the cross and I will follow you. I surrender my will to yours. If you fully give your heart to Christ, he will save you and give you eternal life. And he will do great things through you for His kingdom. Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Undivided” Sermon. Sunday, 4/19/2026.
The Mission of The Church God in the Flesh Salvation Scripture Series: I CORINTHIAN SERIES Scripture Title: Undivided Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Don't Doubt” Sermon. Easter Sunday, 4/05/2026.
The Resurrection of Christ Facing death with coffidence Saint Thomas Scripture Title: Easter Sunday, Don’t Doubt Scripture Reading: John 20:19-29 “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“You Did Not Know Me” Sermon. Sunday, 3/29/2026.
Palm Sunday The Ark of Titus The Wailing Wall The Outer Darkness The Most Important Thing Scripture Title: Palm Sunday, You Did Not Know Me Scripture Reading: Luke 19:37-44 “When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”” Sermon Summary: In our Bible reading today, Jesus, the son of God, was traveling into Jerusalem for the very last time before he would die on the cross for the sins of the world. His disciples began to sing and celebrate his arrival into Jerusalem. People waved palm branches as a sign that he was the Messiah. Yet many in Israel did not understand that he was the Son of God. Jesus wept at the sight of the city because He knew that their eyes were blinded to who he really was. Only his disciples fully understood who He was. After the resurrection of Christ, that handful of disciples spread to all over the world. Today, 1/3 of the world, 7 billion people, claim Christianity as their central belief system. Christianity has spread to every continent and every island in the world. The Bible is now available in every major language group and through the internet, the truth about Jesus is available all over this world. In American culture, there is a church in every major town. In a theological study by lifeway research, 71% of Americans believe in God but 49% said Jesus was a great teacher but not God. Jesus is right before our eyes, yet there are still so many who have not recognized Him. God does not desire that anyone should perish. Christ’s desire is that every person would know Him as their Lord and Savior, be forgiven and have eternal life. Now is the time to respond by inviting Him into our hearts through prayer. Some of us are believers but we haven’t stepped out in faith. We haven’t joined the movement of Jesus and been about His work. Commit to being at His service, join a church and get involved in making Jesus known. Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Call of Abraham” sermon. Sunday, 3/22/2026.
Answering the Call Journey to Salvation Seeing Through Gods Eyes Fellowship as a Team Sport SermonSermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: The Call of Abraham Scripture Reading: Genesis 12:1-5 “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.” Sermon Summary: God called Abraham to leave his country and his extended family and journey to a new land. He called Abraham and Sarah to form a new nation, Israel, that would be a blessing to all the people of the earth. The Bible was written and preserved through the people of Israel. Through Israel, Jesus the Messiah came to earth, died for the sins of the world on the cross, and overcame death. Israel, the descendants of Abraham, have been the conduit for the voice of God, for God’s Messiah and for Salvation. Like Abraham, we are not just saved by Jesus for our own blessing, but we are saved in order to be a blessing to others. Christ calls some of us to teach, to serve, to visit the sick, to music, to administration. Some are called to prayer, to encourage, or to help those in trouble. Some are called to a life of ministry as preachers or missionaries. We are all called to use our skills and gifts for Christ. Jesus calls all of us to be His ambassadors to the world to invite people to leave the darkness and come into the light of Christ. “Human Pride” Sermon. Sunday, 3/15/2026.
Globalism Building a Life Tower of Babel The only true foundation Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: Human Pride Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 11:1-8 “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.” Sermon Summary: After the flood, everyone spoke the same language and settled in the same area on the plain of Shinar. They built a city and a tower to the heavens to make their name great. The Lord knew that with a sinful nation, a single language and a unified culture, human beings do terrible things to one another and would leave God out of the picture. They would replace God with themselves. So God gave them all different languages so that they could not communicate with one and scattered them over the earth. Humans still try to build their own towers to heaven by good works, by their own philosophies, by their own man made religions. But Christ says that he is the only gateway to heaven. In today’s world we think we can fix everything through our ingenuity and technology. We don’t think we need God. We think we are just fine all on our own. None of us are building towers of brick and mortar but we are building a life. And that life is based on what we believe to be true about the world and the reason for our existence. Some of us have a life build on material possessions. Others build a life based on achievement. Any life that we build that leaves out God is an idol to ourselves. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 3:11 that the only true foundation of any life is Jesus Christ. And on top of that foundation should be a life that is dedicated to the Lord It’s this kind of life that will stand the test of time, that will weather the storms that come our way, and receive that reward in heaven when Christ says, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Noah and the Flood” Sermon. Sunday, 3/8/2026.
The Ark Encounter Noah, Preacher of Righteous Lessons in Genesis Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: Noah and the Flood Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:9-22 “This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” Noah did everything just as God commanded him.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Days of Noah” Sermon. Sunday, 3/1/2026.
Lessons in Genesis The fallen ones Nephilim sons of God Supernatural Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: The Days of Noah Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-8 (NIV) Wickedness in the World "When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the LORD said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD." “Murder” Sermon. Sunday, 2/22/2026.
Lessons in Genesis Cain and Abel Persecution of Christians Northern India Nigeria Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: Murder Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 4:3-16 “In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The Lord said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.” Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.” But the Lord said to him, “Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

King David Repentance King David Repentance Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1-12 “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Sermon Summary: In Psalm 51, you can see that David was completely crushed by guilt and shame. He described himself as a man full of iniquity and sin. When you have messed up and have done things you know you shouldn’t have done, you feel that physical weight upon you and that crushing sensation of the emotions in the heart. Disobedience to God has a way of putting spiritual separation between us and the Lord. It's not that God has gone away from us, but there's a kind of an invisible wall that we’ve built between us and the Lord. And when we are guilty, when we've made a mess of our lives, when we've made serious mistakes or things that we've done to hurt other people, the only response is to throw ourselves at the mercy of God. The only way that we can make that guilt and sin and wrongdoing go away is to go before the Lord and say, "Lord, I have made a mess of things. Lord, forgive me. Help me to turn from this mistake and this way of thinking. The dust reminds us that we are broken finite creatures in need of God's mercy to sustain us not only for forgiveness of sin but life itself. So the act of putting ashes on your head is a dependence on God, but it's also a sign that Lord, I'm sorry and I'm repenting. And we put the sign of the cross as the a sign of where that forgiveness comes from. Through Christ's death on the cross, we're forgiven. The Christian life is based on grace, which means it anticipates that we're going to mess up and stumble. And when we do, God's ready to receive us back and forgive us, to set us back on our feet and get us going where we're supposed to go.

“The Fall” Sermon. Sunday, 2/15/2026.
Original Sin Paradise Lost Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: The Fall Scripture Reading: Genesis 3:1-13 “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”” Sermon Summary: Our passage today is historically known as the Fall of Humankind. It’s the day when sin enters the world. It’s the day the first humans fell out of grace and out of fellowship with God. Eve believed Satan’s lie that they could be just like God. They could be in charge. The lie that humans seem to buy into is to replace God with ourselves. It’s the arrogance of saying I won’t do things God’s way. I’ll make my own framework for living. We decide to leave God out of the picture and be the master of our own lives. Both Adam and Eve gave into the temptation from Satan to disobey God resulting in removal from the Garden and separation from God. Spiritual and physical death entered the world. Original sin, the desire to disobey God and rebel, was passed on to all of Adam and Eve’s descendants. We are born with a fallen nature that is self centered and rebellious. We are born broken by sin. The fall of humans from grace and fellowship with God explains why the world is as it is today with warfare, struggle, deception, disease, death and broken relationships. But God has repaired what was broken through His Son Jesus Christ. Restoration and renewal are available if we’ll put our faith in Jesus and surrender to Him. “In the Image of God” Sermon. Sunday, 2/8/2026.
The Moral Compass Social Justice In fellowship with God Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: In The Image Of God Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:26-31 “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.” Sermon Summary: Every one of us is made in the image of God. We are unique. We have free will. We have the ability to think and reason outside of ourselves. We are moral. We have a built in moral conscience that lets us know right from wrong and good from evil. We have an internal soul that will never cease to exist. In the final resurrection, all those who have died will awake some to everlasting life with God in heaven and some to shame and everlasting contempt separated from God in Hell. God made us in His image to be in relationship with Him. It gives God pleasure to be in fellowship with the humans He created. John 3:16 declares that “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God’s desire is that we live our lives in communion with him through faith in Jesus Christ. God created you and designed you to be in relationship with Him. He gave us purpose to be here on the earth. Every human is made in God’s image and every human is valuable and precious to God. We protect and value all human life. God created you and designed you exactly as you are supposed to be with a soul and a unique personality. Everyone matters to the Lord. And His desire is that we come into fellowship with Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“In the Beginning” Sermon. Sunday, 2/1/2026.
Intelligent Design Tale of Two cities The age of wisdom Sermon Series: Lessons in Genesis Scripture Title: In the Beginning Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:1-5 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.” Sermon Summary: In Genesis Chapter 1 we are taken back to the beginning of all things in the world. God is eternal with no beginning and no end. In the beginning God created the heavens in the earth. God created everything in the universe out of nothing. With just His spoken Word, God created light and caused it to illuminate the darkness. God simply says something and it becomes a reality. God brings order from chaos. God separates light from darkness and land from the sea. He creates some creatures for the land and some for the water and some to inhabit the skies. He provides food for all the animals. God made humans in His image. After each day of creation, Genesis 1 repeats the phrase that “God saw that it was good.” After God made man in His image, Genesis concludes in verse 31, “God saw all that he made, and it was very good.” Genesis 1 gives us a few guiding principles for navigating through Scripture and through life itself. First, everything begins and ends with God. God is sovereign and the causation of all that happens on the earth. Second, we live and have our existence according to God’s design. Life is precious to the Lord and also to us. Every human being matters to the Lord and we should view other humans as God sees them. Third, because God is the source of everything, he deserves our worship and adoration. We are to praise God and give Him all the Glory. Lastly, God brings light to darkness. If you are in spiritual darkness, God will bring you into the light and give you eternal life if you come to faith in Christ. “Make the Lord Visible” Sermon. Sunday, 1/25/2026.
Sermon for January 25 due to snow closure Discipling Children Self Identity Raving fans 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Scripture Title: Make the Lord Visible Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 6:6-9 "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Sermon Summary: Today’s message is about the importance of God’s Word and imprinting it on our hearts and on our children’s hearts. The context for our passage is that God had given the Israelites the Ten Commandments. They'd escaped slavery in Egypt and they were a nation of people coming out of a pagan culture. Living in the promised land, they would be surrounded by pagan Canaanite cultures that were saturated with evil and the occult. The Lord was reshaping them to live according to His principles and to become His people. The law was meant to help them live in a way that would help them to flourish and be blessed as a nation and as a people. Today, self-identity has taken center stage in American culture. Much of what our children are taught is confusing and it conflicts with God's Word and His framework for living. As Christians, our identity is in Christ. We need people to see that we belong to the Lord. We can make our identity visible by wearing a cross as a necklace or a bracelet, wearing one of our Got Hope church t-shirts, or having a Christian bumper sticker on our car. We want to build a Christian culture within our household. You could have the Bible and Scripture verses visible in your home. You should have daily family devotions, pray together, and talk about the sermon and the Sunday school lesson after worship. We want children and our families to know what is in the Word of God and how it applies to our lives. When we make God’s Word and his framework central to our lives, we're setting the foundation of following Jesus and living as He would have us live. “Training Children” Sermon. Sunday, 1/18/2026.
Discipling Children Obeying parents has to be learned Must be consequences for disobedience Kids natural sense is to disobey and get their way The most important task any parent or grandparent to do Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Title: Training Children Scripture Reading: Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Sermon Summary: The influence of parents on children can never be underestimated. They watch us and copy our behavior, our communications, our attitudes and our values. We set out patterns for living for our children. Our Scripture is about setting the right direction for our children in life. Making sure that they take a pathway that leads to life and fellowship with Jesus. The most critical thing that we can do is introduce our children to Jesus and invite them to put their faith in Jesus through prayer. We want them to understand that eternal life is only through faith in Christ and we want them to have that solid anchor of faith for when the storms of life come. Raising up a child in today’s world is a challenge. We need to build an inner resilience and a spiritual strength within them, so that they will be able to stand strong against temptation and the darkness of the world. We do this by bringing our kids to worship every Sunday and through daily prayer and devotions at home. We do this by raising up our children in Godly behavior through discipline. We teach our children to respect authority, to not use profanity, to be truthful, to apologize when they’ve done wrong, to be kind, and to help and serve others. We teach them a strong work ethic and help them to find their calling in life. As parents, we offer guidance and wisdom and help them to understand the Lord’s place in their calling in life. “A Generation That Forgot” Sermon. Sunday, 1/11/2026.
Discipling Children Building Solid Relationships Digital Natives Gen Z Pastor Greg Wiest Sermon Title: A Generation that Forgot Scripture Reading: Judges 2:10-12 “After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger” Sermon Summary: Gen Z has grown up during one of the greatest declines of Christianity in America. Today only 20% attend church regularly. On a positive note, the largest uptick in people coming back to church have been young men in Gen Z. The easiest people to reach with the Gospel of Jesus Christ are kids. People 16 and under are most open to becoming followers of Jesus. Our nation has become less Christian because we haven’t been as intentional as we could be in raising our children up in the Lord. The influences of the world on our children has been more profound than ever, especially with the digital world pervading every aspect of our lives. In our passage today, we are told that an entire generation grew up who had forgotten the Lord and what He had done for Israel. We forget our identity in the Lord, often because the generation before us did not teach it to us. This is what happened to Israel and what has happened today. There is a price to pay for skipping church and not teaching the Bible. Worship etches into our kids hearts and our own hearts the importance of God and His Word. Nearly 60% of kids who are in church drop out when they are old enough to decide for themselves. So how do we win the next generation back to the Lord. We need to teach them that the world and all that it has to offer cannot even begin to compete with Jesus. Jesus is the source of life and truth. He offers real love and joy to those who find Him. Gen Z has already seen what the world has to offer and found that the world is hollow and unfulfilling. They’ve come to Jesus because Christ has something real to offer. Real forgiveness, eternal life and a real meaning and a purpose for living. To reach the next generation requires building solid relationships with them as a bridge to the Lord. Parents need to begin at home by talking about the Lord and praying together. Befriend a Gen Z person and take an interest with the hope of sharing the Gospel with them. ”Jesus in Egypt” sermon. Sunday, 12/28/2025
Two Herod's Two years in Egypt Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Matthew 2:13-18 “When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

Christmas Eve Worship Service. Wednesday, 12/24/2025.
Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Matthew 1:18-25 “This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.” Sermon Summary: In the Bible, God used ordinary people, who believed in Him, to do extraordinary things. Abraham was a herdsman. David was a simple shepherd. Peter, James and John were ordinary fisherman. Joseph was a carpenter and both Mary and Joseph lived a poor, simple life. God chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus, the Son of God. Shepherds out in the field were the first witnesses to the birth of Jesus. Jesus grew up in an obscure village, handed over to His enemies, went through a mockery of a trial, nailed to the cross, and Roman soldiers gambled for His clothing. And today, Jesus is the central figure of the human race. Nobody has had more of a powerful impact on humankind. Because of Jesus, God in the flesh, this life is not all that there is. Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world. Those who have faith in Him will have forgiveness of sins and life after death. A life lived for Jesus is a life with purpose and meaning. When you join your life with Christ, your life will have an eternal impact on the world. God is looking for some ordinary men and women who simply trust in Him and are willing to say yes when He says will you live for me. Isaiah 6:8 said, “I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Whom shall I send? Then I said here am I, send me.” God knows you by name and everything about you and He wants to do something extraordinary in your life if you’ll just say yes Lord, here I am. “Like a Shepherd” Sermon. Sunday, 12/21/2025.
The Good Shepherd The Shepherds sheep dogs AI relationships Scripture Title: Like a Shepherd Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:9-11 “You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” Sermon Summary: According to the American Psychological Association, 1 in 3 Americans are lonely and disconnected from others. What is the answer to the deep question of feeling alone in the universe and not experiencing love and acceptance? The answer is a relationship with the God who created us. In our Scripture passage, the prophet Isaiah was addressing the existential loneliness and disconnectedness that Israel was experiencing because of their sin and rebellion against the Lord God. Thom Rainer in his podcast shares that the largest demographic of unchurched people are people who had a past connection with a church but something happened and they drifted away from the Lord into the darkness of the world. If you speak with these people, there is something missing. They are far from God and they have no eternal outlook into the future. Often there is loneliness. The good news from Isaiah to Israel and the good news to us today is that we are not alone. There is a God who loves you and cares for you and wants to be in relationship with you. Jesus, God in the flesh, came and lived among us beginning at Christmas in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago. Christ died on the cross for our sin and rebellion and removed all of the barriers to fellowship between us and God. If we put our faith in Jesus, He will forgive us. He will fill that emptiness that is within us and take away our loneliness. Isaiah describes Jesus, the Messiah, as a sovereign and mighty ruler of the universe who is able to solve the deep problems that plague humanity. He also describes the Messiah as the good shepherd who cares for His flock, protects us from the enemy, and when we are hurting, He carries us and holds us near to him. Jesus lifts us out of the pit of dark despair and into the light. Invite Jesus into your heart and draw near to Him because He cares for you. “Prepare the Way” Sermon. Sunday, 12/14/2025.
The Voice in the wilderness Pride and Arrogance Mercy and Grace Scripture Title: Prepare the Way Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:3-5 “A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”” Isaiah’s message to the entire nation of Israel was to repent of the sin that is preventing you from fully embracing the Messiah. They needed to remove the barriers and obstacles of rebellion for His arrival. Things like pride and arrogance. Being too tied up in this world. Lacking in belief that the Messiah was actually coming. They were saying one thing and doing another. Often the inroads to the heart are blocking Jesus the Messiah from fully entering in and bringing about salvation and transformation. More often than not it is sin that we refuse to let go of. For the unbeliever, repenting or changing direction begins by admitting “I am headed in the wrong direction about the meaning of life and what God desires of me.” This is the greatest obstacle on Christ’s road to your heart. Ultimately, the Lord calls you to follow Him. He wants to come into your life. But you have got to admit that he is right and you are wrong. You have got to get out of the way and let him come in. Once He comes in, He will do the heavy work of transforming your life. Sometimes there is sin in our lives that we aren’t even aware of. And when God brings it to light, he wants us to smooth out those rough pathways to our hearts. He wants us to straighten up the way for his presence into our lives. This involves changing our minds about the way we are doing things. Ultimately, you and I must surrender to the will of God in our lives. We have got to go along with the Master’s design for our life. The promise is that God’s glory will be reveled in us. We will see God in our lives today and will see him face to face in eternity. The message of Isaiah is repent, change your mind, change direction for the Messiah is at hand. Leave the darkness and come into the light. Spiritual Darkness Prince of Peace Advent Scripture Title: A Great Light Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9:2-6 “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. “A Righteous Branch” Sermon. Sunday, 11/23/2025.
The days of Noah Hope for the Future The Return of the King Scripture Title: A Righteous Branch Pastor Greg Wiest Sermon Summary: Many people in our nation seem to be feeling an uneasiness and even a sense of impending darkness. When times are dark because of the presence of evil in our culture or whether we have a personal crisis that is overwhelming, we need hope for the future. We need to haven an eternal perspective. Jeremiah offered a message of hope to the Israelites facing judgement from Babylon. That same message of hope, redemption and restoration applies to us today. At Advent, we celebrate the fulfillment of the promise of God sending Jesus, the Messiah, the savior of the entire world. When our immediate circumstances seem more than we can bear, we need hope that in the future joy and blessings will be restored. We need to remind ourselves that this world is not our home and that we are only passing through. As Christians, we know we will spend eternity in heaven with the Lord and all of our brothers and sisters in Christ. At Advent, we celebrate Christ’s coming at Bethlehem and we anticipate the imminent future return of the King. Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 33:14-17 ““ ‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. “ ‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’ For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel,” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“How Majestic Is Your Name” Sermon. Sunday, 11/23/2025.
The Image of God The Mind of Christ What does it mean to be Human? Scripture Title: How Majestic is Your Name Sermon Summary: Psalm 8 begins by saying, “Oh Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” God has dominion over the universe and stands above His creation with power and glory. The psalmist invites us to put ourselves in perspective and consider how small and microscopic we are to all of it. Despite seeming insignificant, God thinks about us, cares about us and is engaged in our lives. God created us in His image which means that we have an eternal soul. We can think, reason, and we carry the full range of emotions that reflect the character of God. We are born with a purpose. No human being is on the planet by accident or random chance. You were specifically designed by God for this time and place. Every human life is precious to God. We are created to be in fellowship with God. We are created to be stewards of God’s creation. Scripture Reading: Psalm 8 “Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Delighting in the Law of the Lord” Sermon. Sunday, 11/16/2025.
Two Choices No middle ground The Road to Destruction Scripture Title: Delighting in the Law of the Lord Scripture Reading: Psalm 1:1-6 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. “Taken to Heaven” Sermon. Sunday, 11/09/2025.
A Chariot of Fire. Crossing over Having a Mentor Elijah Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: Taken to Heaven Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-12 “When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal. Elijah said to Elisha, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel. The company of the prophets at Bethel came out to Elisha and asked, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?” “Yes, I know,” Elisha replied, “so be quiet.” Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho. The company of the prophets at Jericho went up to Elisha and asked him, “Do you know that the Lord is going to take your master from you today?” “Yes, I know,” he replied, “so be quiet.” Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them walked on. Fifty men from the company of the prophets went and stood at a distance, facing the place where Elijah and Elisha had stopped at the Jordan. Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up and struck the water with it. The water divided to the right and to the left, and the two of them crossed over on dry ground. When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?” “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied. “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise, it will not.” As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Mentor” Sermon. Sunday, 11/02/2025.
Mentoring others Discipleship Great Philosophers Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: The Mentor Pastor Greg Wiest Sermon Summary: God can use any person from any walk of life. Billy Graham grew up on a dairy farm. D.L. Moody started out as a shoe salesman. In our Scripture passage, God had told Elijah who he would train as God’s next prophet. Elisha’s dramatic response of burning up all his plowing equipment was his way of saying that he was fully committed to being God’s servant and he was burning all bridges to his past life. Following Jesus may mean making a radical break from your past life such as leaving behind old habits, sinful lifestyles, or friends who may keep you from walking with Jesus. Jesus wants his followers to be all in. Elisha became Elijah’s protege and trained under Elijah for several years. Mentoring and discipling others in Christ is central to the life of the church. It is how the faith and the mission of Jesus is passed from one generation to the next. Discipleship can lead others on the road to fulfillment and purpose. Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 19:19-21 “So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,” he said, “and then I will come with you.” “Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?” So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Not Alone” Sermon. Sunday, 10/26/2025.
Spiritually Flat Still small voice Pathway Forward Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: Not Alone Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 19:9-18 “There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” The Lord said to him, “Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to succeed you as prophet. Jehu will put to death any who escape the sword of Hazael, and Elisha will put to death any who escape the sword of Jehu. Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Fear and Flight” Sermon. Sunday, 10/19/2025.
Days of Elijah 1 Kings 19:1-8 Care for the Soul The Sabbath Lost passion Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: Fear and Flight Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 19:1-8 “Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.” Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

Revival Spiritual Death American Culture Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: Back to Life Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 17:17-24 “Some time later the son of the woman who owned the house became ill. He grew worse and worse, and finally stopped breathing. She said to Elijah, “What do you have against me, man of God? Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?” “Give me your son,” Elijah replied. He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his bed. Then he cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, have you brought tragedy even on this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?” Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried out to the Lord, “Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!” The Lord heard Elijah’s cry, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived. Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, “Look, your son is alive!” Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.””

Developing Friendships Words of Encouragement Spiritual Refreshment Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Scripture Title: God’s Provision Our Scripture is about running out of resources and God’s provision for those of us who are on empty. God’s resources are unlimited. If you are running on empty emotionally or you’re spiritually flat or you’re just burned out, trust God and ask Him for help and He will give you what you need to keep going. The place where we can go for refreshment immediately is God’s house. Worshipping together with brothers and sisters in Christ provides immediate spiritual refreshment and renewal. We are refreshed by the Word of God and by the worship, prayer and fellowship with our fellow believers. “Elijah and God's Judgment” Sermon. Sunday, 9/14/2025.
Charlie Kirk Freedom of speech Living in different days Time with nature Turning Point King Ahab Speak truth into our culture Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Sermon Series: Elijah and God's Judgment Sermon Summary: Just as God sent the prophet Elijah to pronounce God’s judgement against Israel for their evil and wickedness, God calls Christians to speak truth even if it goes against the current of culture. Charlie Kirk’s assassination shows us that we need to pray for our Nation and call out evil even when it’s being celebrated in our culture. Christians have to humbly be the truth tellers when all around you are lies. It may be costly and you will likely experience pushback or persecution from this world. But put your trust in the Lord. God will provide for you when you are faithful to Him. Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 17:1-6 Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

How Not to be a Leader Wisdom and Wives A house divided Elijah Solomon Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Days of Elijah Sermon Series: A Rotten Ruler Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 16:29-34 "In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab son of Omri became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria over Israel twenty-two years. Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him. He not only considered it trivial to commit the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, but he also married Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and began to serve Baal and worship him. He set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal that he built in Samaria. Ahab also made an Asherah pole and did more to arouse the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than did all the kings of Israel before him. In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

Spiritual adultery - The great prostitute Unfaithful to the one true God Mystery Babylon Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times Scripture Title: Babylon Scripture Reading: Revelation 17:1-6 “One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits by many waters. With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. The name written on her forehead was a mystery: Babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth. I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s holy people, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Beast Out of the Earth” Sermon. Sunday, 8/24/25.
Symbols of the End Times A Cashless Society The False Prophet Pastor Greg Wiest. Scripture Series: Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times Scripture Title: The Beast Out of the Earth Scripture Reading: Revelation 13:11-18 “Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Beast Out of the Sea” Sermon. Sunday, 8/17/25.
God in the Flesh The sea of Humanity Rider on the white horse Spotter cards Daniel 7 Pastor Greg Wiest. Scripture Series: Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times Scripture Title: The Beast Out of the Sea Scripture Reading: Revelation 13:1-10 “The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world. Whoever has ears, let them hear. “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

”The Dragon” Sermon. Sunday, 8/10/25.
Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times The Spiritual World The invisible Realm Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times Sermon Title: The Dragon Scripture Reading: Revelation 12:1-17 “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days. Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach. Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“The Four Horsemen” Sermon. Sunday, 8/03/25.
Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times. The Apocalypse of John on the Greek Island of Patmos A parallel of Revelation 6 and Matthew 24 when Jesus spoke at the Temple Mount. Greek translation of Antichrist is "Instead of Christ" Daniel 2 references A days wages to feed a family for a day. Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Series: Apocalypse, Symbols of the End Times Sermon Title: The Four Horsemen Scripture Reading: Revelation 6:1-16 “I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!” When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth. When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been. I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!” Lewes Presbyterian Church Website Lewes Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel

“Why Does God Allow Evil to Exist?” Sermon. Sunday, 7/13/25.
The Greatest Lie. Definition of Evil. A Spiritual Solution. The Spiritual Image of God in your Immortal Soul. The real answer to the problems in our culture. Suppression of the truths. Free Will. Sermon Series: When God Doesn’t Make Sense Sermon Title: Why Does God Allow Evil to Exist Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: Romans 1:18-25 “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. The Book of Job Testing of your Faith To shape and influence the life of someone else When God Doesn't make sense by Dr. James Dobson Questioning God Sermon Series: When God Doesn’t Make Sense Sermon Title: Why Does God Allow Suffering Pastor Greg Wiest Scripture Reading: James 1:1-8 “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
