005 The Energy You Feed Is the World You Build

In this episode Shirani explores something that doesn't get named often enough: the ways dominant systems sustain themselves through our energy — our attention, our anxiety, our engagement with what's burning rather than what we're building. Drawing on over two decades of experience in systems change work, Shirani examines the practical implications of this for people doing transformative work. What does it actually mean to stop fueling what we're dismantling? What does it look like to redirect that energy toward building something genuinely new? And why is nervous system sovereignty not a personal development luxury but a prerequisite for anyone serious about systems change? This episode is an honest, grounded transmission for people who are already awake to what's happening — and are looking for clarity on how to move forward without replicating the very patterns they're trying to disrupt. ___  Show Notes: In this episode Shirani covers: Why dominant systems rely on our dysregulation to maintain control — and how that shows up in our daily lives The difference between fighting the old world and building the new one — and why that distinction matters for your nervous system What nervous system sovereignty actually looks like in practice for people doing systems change work Why we cannot build the new world from the same energy as the old one An invitation to Liberatory Strategy: Foundations — liberatory pricing, $7-$67 Resources: Website and Social Media: Visit www.shiranimpathak.com to explore current services and offerings, including the Liberatory Strategy: Foundations online course.  Liberatory Strategy: Foundations Course: An online course designed to help reclaim sovereignty over the nervous system [starting at $7]. 004 Holding Two Truths at Once

Episode Summary: In this episode of the Liberatory Strategy Podcast, host Shirani M. Pathak delves into the complex art of balancing conflicting truths to create transformative change. The discussion revolves around how visionaries and leaders can effectively hold the "both and" perspective amidst a world that seems to be falling apart. Shirani outlines her approach to fostering this mindset, contrasting the traditional all-or-nothing thinking, which is prevalent in various systems of power, with a more evolved way of thinking that embraces multiple truths. This episode is a deep dive into understanding how to navigate personal and systemic challenges through enhanced personal development and mindful perspectives. Through a rich discussion filled with insights and personal anecdotes, the episode provides listeners with a framework for reclaiming sovereignty over their nervous systems. Shirani explores how systems and dominant powers often hijack our emotions and perspectives, thus impacting our ability to act effectively. By cultivating the skill to hold multiple realities simultaneously, individuals can break free from immobilizing fear or anxiety and take meaningful, micro actions towards societal and personal change. This episode not only emphasizes the need for personal reflection and growth but also highlights the importance of collective action in altering the course of humanity's trajectory. Key Takeaways: Cultivating the "both and" mindset allows individuals to hold seemingly opposing truths, critical for leaders and change-makers who aim to transform current oppressive systems. Systems of power exploit fear and anxiety to manipulate societal actions; reclaiming personal control over one's nervous system is essential. The importance of emotional sovereignty in avoiding the pitfalls of doom scrolling and societal division. Recognizing that small, mindful actions can lead to large-scale change when collective consciousness shifts. Transition from victim and warrior mental states to sovereign and creator states to foster deeper change and enhance personal empowerment. Notable Quotes: "We must be able to hold greater and greater capacity for the both and." "The powers that be want our nervous systems to be hijacked because when our nervous systems are hijacked, we are so much easier to control." "Start small and build and grow from there." "The dominant systems in power are causing the harm and then they're also going to sell you the solution." 002 Six Years of Unbecoming: Our Collective Journey

Six years ago this podcast was born in the middle of a collective reckoning. The world was on fire and so were many of us — finally awake to what had always been true, finally unwilling to keep pretending otherwise. A lot has changed since then. The name. The focus. The clarity about what this work actually is and who it's actually for. And a lot hasn't changed. The core conviction that we cannot build a new world from a dysregulated nervous system. That healing ourselves and healing our world are the same work. That the unbecoming — shedding everything we were told to be — is as sacred as the becoming. This episode is a reflection on six years of that journey. Mine, yours, and ours. Because if you've been here — or if you're just arriving — chances are you've been in your own process of unbecoming. Releasing who the dominant systems told you to be. Remembering who you actually are. Figuring out what you're here to build. That's worth marking. For all of us. ________________ Show Notes: In this anniversary episode Shirani reflects on: Six years of evolution — from Fierce Authenticity to Liberatory Strategy and what that journey actually represents The personal and collective unbecoming that has shaped both the podcast and the people drawn to it What remains unchanged at the core: nervous system sovereignty as the foundation of genuine systems change An invitation to listeners to mark their own journey — who were you six years ago, and who are you becoming? Gratitude for the guests, the listeners, and the community that has made this work possible. Key Takeaways: Evolution of the Podcast: From its inception as Fierce Authenticity to becoming the Liberatory Strategy Podcast, this journey represents a shift from personal narrative to systemic transformation. Collective and Personal Healing: Emphasis on the role of individual healing in contributing to wider societal change and subverting dominant power structures. The Power of Reflection: Shirani shares personal stories of growth and challenges, illustrating the ongoing journey of unbecoming societal expectations to embrace true self. Building a New Paradigm: Encouragement for listeners to engage in creating new, justice-based systems beyond existing oppressive frameworks. Future Directions: A look forward into expanding the podcast's reach and impact on listeners by providing resources and guidance for transformative change. Notable Quotes: "The day of this recording is Tuesday, June 2, 2026... celebrating the milestone of six years worth of suiting up and showing up." "It is time to share this medicine and to share the messages that had been coming through." "The journey of unbecoming and becoming is about peeling back layers to reveal your true essence that is not bound by societal expectations." "My capacity has grown so much, and I'm guided by the divine forces who desire for us to fulfill our potential." Interlude 02: Israel and Palestine part 1

It's been 8.5 months since we last spoke here on the podcast and boy oh boy, are we due for an update. What a wild wild world we're living in.   Here's another real, raw, unedited, unfiltered interlude from my heart to yours.    We take the first bit to catch up on what's been happening around here, including the challenges that come with being a changemaker doing counter-cultural work. Then we take a deep dive into the state of the world the last 40 days since the events of October 7 between Israel and Palestine.    We zoom out, take a big picture perspective, and then we bring in it.    I am no expert on matters in the Middle East, or on politics, or on religion, but what I am is an expert in human behavior, trauma, and relationships, so that's the perspective that I bring here.    There's a ton of shame out there in the world and in this part 1 episode, we are unshaming that for you and inviting you into the power of using your voice, even if it's only a small whisper.    In part 2 we will dive in a little deeper.    When listening to this episode, take your time and consume it slowly. It's a big, deep episode, and I guide you through it the way I would hold space in a private session - with lots of room for breaks and nervous system regulation.    [00:00:05]: Hello, welcome back, and the update [00:16:30]: On Israel and Palestine   Links mentioned:   Receive my 3-part email series on the shadows of oppressor and oppressed:  https://shirani.myflodesk.com/oppressionshadows   Receive my regular emails: https://www.shiranimpathak.com/connect   Links:  To connect with us on the complimentary private newsletter community, be sure to visit www.shiranimpathak.com/connect  Find Me on Social Media:  Our hashtags are #fierceauthenticity and #showupbeseengetlove  If you're loving the episode, take a screenshot, share it on social, and tag me in your post!  Instagram: @shiranimpathak  Facebook: @ShiraniMPathak  Donate to the work:  Shirani on PayPal  *Some of the links used may be affiliate links. S4E07 Legacy with Guest Riessa Monique

As I look back on the pandemic there is one thing that keeps coming to mind, and that is how it made a lot of us slow down and reevaluate our lives; how it made us aware that we were living on autopilot and that we’re not being our true authentic selves.   My friend and today’s guest, Riessa Monique, is no different. The pandemic made Riessa take a dramatic (yet long overdue) career pivot - from an IT manager to a life coach. Today, she is on a mission to help her clients to see themselves as they truly are - capable of whatever goal they want to accomplish. Now, living her true and authentic life, she is here to share her insights about legacy and why she believes you’re right on track - no matter where you are.     In today’s episode, we cover:  Riessa’s amazing career transformation  Living a life that is aligned with who we are  Why legacy is more than having children How to trust our inner knowing Understanding the impact we can make     Quotes  [00:06:53] The pandemic isn't the first time people were wearing masks. We are trained to wear masks, socialized masks and not be our authentic self. [00:11:46] The legacy is left in the thought process. That is where the true DNA is. And that can go beyond, because I can only birth so many children. But as far as the thought process being left behind and the DNA and how that can have been a trickle down effect, that is more than just having children.  [00:18:47] I really truly believe everyone was born with gifts and talents. But we have a tendency to play small and shy away from that as if it was scary and not understanding. Even with those gifts and talents, we can have even a greater impact. But we're already having an impact because someone else is watching our life. And we are being an example of something.   [00:35:02] If I compare the hammer to a microwave, it wouldn't make sense. But who am I to compare myself to anyone else because I, just like you - the listener, am made per my design  [00:37:21] As far as embracing your own design, even your own quirkiness, your own desires, just know that you are right on track. And for anyone else to tell you you're not on track - have them pull out your design. They don't have it.    Links:  To connect with us on the complimentary private newsletter community, be sure to visit www.shiranimpathak.com/connect  Find Me on Social Media:  Our hashtags are #fierceauthenticity and #showupbeseengetlove  If you're loving the episode, take a screenshot, share it on social, and tag me in your post!  Instagram: @shiranimpathak  Facebook: @ShiraniMPathak  For a transcript of this episode visit www.shiranimpathak.com/podcast  Donate to the work:  Shirani on PayPal  *Some of the links used may be affiliate links. S4E06 Deconditioning, Decolonizing, and Unbecoming

Today I want to share with you my thoughts on decolonizing, deconditioning and unbecoming. This topic of unbecoming and decolonizing ties nicely into my life right now, as I am leaving my therapy practice behind and stepping into the next chapter of my life. I am decolonizing colonial thoughts about having to stick to one career and putting education above all else  To me, deconditioning and decolonizing are very similar and in that process is also a practice of unbecoming. As we're doing our decolonizing work and as we're deconditioning, we're also unraveling everything that society has told us that we should be or that we need to be. We’re unbecoming everything that is not authentically us so that we can step into who we came here to be and who we are when we are not following societal expectations. That's what the process of unbecoming is.     In today’s episode, we cover:  The Trojan horse approach to dismantling supremacy culture  Defining decolonizing, deconditioning and unbecoming  Healing the collective by doing inner work first  How to give yourself grace in this process  Perfection is not required     Quotes   [00:24:22] each and every single one of us has a responsibility to do this inner work of decolonizing, deconditioning, dismantling, demolishing all of this internalized colonialism, the internalized supremacy, the internalized oppression. Each and every single one of us has a responsibility no matter what the color of your skin, because we live in these systems, and each of us has been impacted by it.  [00:26:23] We're building the new world as we're still living in the old one. So we're constructing from the ruins of what we're deconstructing.   [00:29:17] You're a human and I'm a human. And we're just trying to do this wild thing called life together, we're all working towards the same, common-shared goal.   [00:29:38]  We're not perfect, our perfection is not required. It's our progress that we must be making and how we're showing up. S4E05 An Alternative to New Year’s Resolutions

If you'd like a different alternative to New Year's resolutions, then this episode is for you.  Today’s episode is all about those New Year's resolutions aka additional lies that supremacy culture teaches you.  New Year - New You…ugh, that just irks me.   Most of us don’t get beyond the first 60 to 90 days of these “New Year's resolutions.” And here's why - because those are some of the additional lies that supremacy culture teaches you to keep you further oppressed. So, join me in today’s episode and start the new year as authentically yourself.     In today’s episode, we cover:  Here’s why New Year - New You doesn’t work   You need to want It for yourself How to take back your power Being authentically yourself     Quotes   [00:06:47] It wasn't until, of course, years after I quit doing the whole New Year's resolutions thing that I realized, and it clicked and it dawned upon me: “Oh, my gosh, this is because it's another way for me to beat up on myself, and feel bad about myself, and be little and berate myself, to judge myself and criticize myself, to compare myself with others.” That's all it was.  [00:08:18] You have to actually, intrinsically, inside of yourself, believe that whatever it is that you want to experience, you want to experience it for you. Not because someone outside of you told you how you had to look, behave, what your house should look like. S4E4 How to Prevent Holiday Overwhelm (re-broadcast)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But, is it really?  The holiday season, allegedly the most wonderful time of the year, may not be so wonderful for many of us. Because we've been conditioned under systems of supremacy culture and capitalism, for many of us this is the time to rush, to hustle and to do for others at our own expense.  Today’s episode is the beginning of a three-part miniseries that will help you get through the holidays in a way that goes counter to supremacy and allows you to experience this time as a time of true love, connection, intimacy and authenticity in all of your relationships!    In today’s episode, we cover:  The importance of slowing down  Giving yourself and others the gift of presence  Deep presence, deep connection and true intimacy    Quotes  [00:05:52] Because this is the time of year where we are sold every single lie and piece of BS about how we need these outside material possessions, that are really only fleeting and temporary, by the way...but how we need these external things in order for us to be happy, in order for our loved ones to feel loved, in order for everyone to feel appreciated and that they matter.   [00:10:54] I want you to think about what might happen if you were to allow yourself to follow what nature's rhythm was. What if you were to give yourself permission to slow down, to be more internally focused, to turn towards Self to see what you need or what your heart wants to share with your loved ones as opposed to what corporate, and big business, and consumerism and capitalism tell you that you need.  [00:16:20] When you slow down, when you connect with yourself, when you come into alignment with you, with the Divine Source of something greater than you, when you look to nature for your cues and when you move from there, that's where you'll make your greatest impact on your loved ones. And I guarantee you it is not going to be because you got them the latest iPhone, or the latest gadget, or the latest whatever and especially not if you did it from the energy of hustle and chaos and franticness and scarcity and lack.

S4E03 Word of the Year with Guest Dimple Mukherjee

As we’re approaching the end of this year, I think it’s safe to say that most of us are thinking about New Year's resolutions, evaluating how this year went and looking at what we want next year to look like. I am no different and that is why I’m so excited to have my first podcast interview of the season with none other than Dimple Mukherjee.   Dimple is an occupational therapist, word coach and author of "Word of the Year: True Stories About Intentional Living Using the Power of a Single Word," which is now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Her life philosophy is rooted in good health and wellness and she has dedicated the past few years to learning and understanding how profoundly words can shape our lives and boost our mental health. These days Dimple is embracing the art of slowing down, creating deeper meaning and connections, indulging in simple luxuries, while also endlessly parenting her three sons.    In today’s episode, we cover:  How to get intentional with your words and unlock their true power  Breaking free from the “hustle” culture  Why Dimple’s practice is so nourishing  How to know if you choose the right word The importance of being open to possibilities     Resources mentioned:  Word of the Year: True Stories About Intentional Living Using the Power of a Single Word  Take a Free What Should My Word Be Quiz   Free Live Your Word Journal  Call in Your Word Course Live Word of the Year 2023 Workshop with Dimple Connect with Dimple on Instagram     Quotes  [00:22:25] This is probably my favorite piece of the practice, connecting with other people over the words. Now imagine going to a dinner party, and instead of asking someone “So, how was your day? What do you do?”, how about asking “What's your word for this year?” and just watching that conversation go somewhere where it otherwise wouldn't have?    [00:31:48] The beauty of this practice lies in synchronicities. So be curious, leave your heart open to possibilities, big possibilities, and see where it takes you [00:33:54] Eventually when you continue with this practice, your words all tell a story of your life. [00:35:33] As we continue to evolve, our work and our stories continue to evolve, and our words evolve with us. Discover expert advice on prioritizing self-care, navigating complex family dynamics, and making the most out of your holidays. Don't miss out on this must-listen episode that will equip you with the tools to thrive during this joyful time of year.   In today’s episode, we cover:  Your boundaries are for you  Clear is kind; Control is unkind  What is and is not acceptable to you from you  Judgment and compassion can coexist Catch yourself before it’s too late     Quotes  [00:03:24] If you are trying to set boundaries and hoping that other people will follow through with them and then getting resentful when they don't, do you know what you're doing? You're actually participating in supremacy culture’s sneaky behavior of control. That is what you're doing; you are trying to control another person and how they engage with you. You're trying to tell another person who to be in order to be in a relationship with you. And when you do that, you are putting yourself in a position of superiority, the other person in a position of inferiority. You are elevating yourself to the status of some holier than thou type and you are dehumanizing the person that you are in a relationship with.   [00:06:20] Clear is kind. It is kind for you to be clear with yourself about what your boundaries and your parameters are when you are considering how you're going to do the holidays. It's kind to be clear with yourself what you will and will not accept when it comes to this season. Even if that what you will and will not accept relates to what you will and will not accept from yourself. And it is also kind for you to very clearly communicate what it is that you need to others and then let go of any expectations or any outcomes, because when you hold on to expectations and outcomes you fall into the behavior of “control is unkind”. So, remember that - clear is kind; control is unkind. Especially when we are directing it outwards towards another person or another outcome or something outside of us, because the reality is we are not God and we're not in control of other people, places and things around us. We are not in control of how other people choose to show up. S4E01 What Makes Change so Difficult

I am coming to you today as a retiring psychotherapist.   Being a relationship therapist has been my identity for a long time, but back in January of 2020 (we all know what happened in 2020) I decided to transition from being a relationship therapist into my coaching and consulting business full time.  This is a huge change, and change is hard. Why? The answer always comes down to the ways that we have internalized systems of supremacy and oppression. So, if you have been struggling with change, it is purely because of the systems under which we reside; the systems under which our brains, our bodies, our nervous systems have been programmed for millennia.   And in today’s episode, I am giving you the permission to change!    In today’s episode, we cover:   Why I am retiring as a psychotherapist  Making the decision to change and being fiercely authentic   How supremacy culture is keeping us in status quo Why it’s so hard to change How to give yourself permission to change    Quotes   [00:11:49] Go ahead and, if that feels right to you, just turn inwards for a moment and see - is there something that has been on your heart, that every time you close your eyes, you see a certain vision and you not been giving yourself permission to go there? Have you been withholding that permission? Or have you been denying yourself that which is truly on your heart, that which you truly desire?   [00:13:39] Why is it that supremacy culture has made it such that we deny that which we truly desire, that we don't give ourselves permission, that we withhold what it is that we really want? And well, the answer to that is, because it wants you to stay in the status quo.  [00:19:20] Fear and shame - those are the two biggest things that supremacy culture uses to oppress us. And what do each of those do? They often keep us stuck and frozen, especially shame - it keeps us small; it keeps us hidden, and it keeps us not wanting to be seen.  [00:19:51] This isn't even about me. There's no lack in me. There's nothing wrong with me that it is so hard for me to make change. This is literally the way the system is designed.  [00:20:02] When you remove the element of shame, what ends up happening is, because shame isn't shutting you down, you end up being better able to make micro actions and take steps towards that change that you are aspiring to make. S3E32 Don’t be Selfish - Season Finale

As we're wrapping up season 3 of the Fierce Authenticity podcast and celebrating our 2 year anniversary/birthday I'm coming to you with a heart that's holding space for the entire depth and breadth of the human experience. In this episode I share about how the murder of brother George Floyd is what led me to finally start this podcast 2 years ago, and that in 2 years we're still facing the senseless loss of lives, citing the Buffalo, New York shooting as the most recent example. Then, just a few hours after I finished recording this episode I learned of yet another preventable horrific massacre - this one of 19 babies and 2 teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. Though there is celebration in this episode, there is a serious call for you to stop being selfish and keeping the medicine we speak about here to yourself. At just about 5500 downloads of the podcast over the last 2 years, I'm both celebrating AND I know we can do better. 7 billion+ suffering people on this planet and 5500 downloads of the potent medicine offered here on the podcast… there seems to be something amiss here if you catch my drift. When you keep what you hear here to yourself and don't share these episodes with others, you're doing yourself, your loved ones, and the entire world a disservice. This episode is both a celebration and a plea, let's get the message of Fierce Authenticity™️out to more of those 7 billion people for whom this podcast is the exact medicine that they need. Rate, review, screenshot and share the podcast, your favorite episodes, and even the episodes that pissed you off. Tag me, let's grow this community. Together as a collective we have work to do. With that, our 3rd season ends and we'll be back in the Fall. In the meantime, come join me on Instagram @shiranimpathak where we'll be having "summer school" while the podcast is on break for the summer. S3E31 You are the Medicine with guest Asha Frost

I am so excited to introduce you to today's guest, Indigenous medicine woman and best-selling author of the book You Are the Medicine, Asha Frost. Our conversation was filled with such potent and powerful medicine, yet it is so sweet and gentle and nourishing in nature at the same time. That’s simply the energy that Asha brings to the work that she does, and how she helps us return to ourselves and be in relationship with ourselves and others. We explore everything from:   tokenization and how there's this very somatic feeling of tokenization that she experiences to how absolutely damaging it is,  how we can be conscious and intentional in the work that we're doing, in the spaces that we're creating,  how we're showing up in spaces  and of course, we also address trauma.     Asha Frost (she/her) is an Indigenous Ojibwe Medicine Person, mentor, space holder and seer. Her life's work is to help you connect to the medicine that has always been within you. The spark, the illumination, the power is all there waiting to be seen, felt and claimed. Asha is an enrolled member of the Cape Croker First Nation. She is an Anishinaabe medicine woman, spiritual mentor, ceremonial speaker, and best-selling author who believes wholeheartedly in the power within to heal our bodies, our spirits and our lives. As Wiida'adoon Aanimkikaa (she who walks with the Thunderbirds), she is able to clearly see one's presence, power and medicine, and invites people deeper into their wise knowing. As a member of the Crane Clan, her facilitation style empowers, uplifts and inspires with grace and deep love, which my friend is exactly what you are going to feel when you tune in to this conversation. For 18 years, Asha has practiced as a homeopath, medicine healer and soul seer. She is the best-selling author of You Are the Medicine published by Hay House and her Oracle deck will be released next year in 2023.    Tune in to the full episode to hear more.    Connect with Asha:  @asha.frost https://www.instagram.com/asha.frost  Website https://ashafrost.com/   Book You are the Medicine https://amzn.to/3MwAyhP    Links:  To connect with us on the complimentary private newsletter community, be sure to visit www.shiranimpathak.com/connect  Find Me on Social Media:  Our hashtags are #fierceauthenticity and #showupbeseengetlove  If you're loving the episode, take a screenshot, share it on social, and tag me in your post!  Instagram: @shiranimpathak  Facebook: @ShiraniMPathak  For a transcript of this episode visit www.shiranimpathak.com/podcast  Donate to the work:  Shirani on PayPal  *Some of the links used may be affiliate links. S3E30 A Big Huge F* You to Supremacy

I want to get really honest and really vulnerable with you today because that’s what Fierce Authenticity is all about. It’s about being in our wholeness and sharing openly, intimately and vulnerably.   In today’s episode I walk you through my “failure” with launching my new signature offer The Sanctuary, which in reality turned out to be a huge success. I share with you all the lessons I learned along the way and how supremacy conditioning tries to creep into our lives in the most sneaky and insidious ways.     In today’s episode, we cover:  Allowing yourself to experience sadness Why do we gaslight ourselves Hidden lesson that supremacy can teach us Freeze-Fight-Flight-Fawn response The importance of community in fighting supremacy     Resources mentioned:  The Sanctuary https://shiranimpathak.newzenler.com/courses/apply-for-sanctuary     Quotes  [00:07:00] I just got into that place where I was completely gaslighting my own feelings, gaslighting the feeling of sadness, gaslighting the feeling of disappointment, and I was trying to make myself wrong. And not that I was trying to make myself, I actually was making myself wrong to be experiencing these feelings.  [00:15:28] Supremacy culture has taught us, especially us high-achieving, bad-ass, over-functioning women and femmes, that we are only valuable and worthy based on what we can do, based on what we can achieve. And so without even knowing it, that starts to operate on a super sneaky fu*king unconscious level. And it impacts our brains, our bodies, and then our behaviors and how we start to act in the world.  [00:25:31] I want you to know how important it is that we learn to see and identify the ways supremacy culture shows up within us and in our relationships and develop the skills that we need, in order to be able to see it, to spot it, to work through it so that when it arises, we can spot it, we can catch it, and we can course-correct it.  [00:27:41] This is some sneaky f*cking insidious sh*t that we're dealing with. And this is why we need to do this work in community, this is why we need to do this work with others who can see the patterns, who can spot it and help you to shift from it so that you can dismantle it within yourself, so that you don't continue to go out there and replicate these patterns in all of the amazing work that you're doing and the powerful, beautiful life that you're living.    Links: To connect with us on the complimentary private newsletter community, be sure to visit www.shiranimpathak.com/connect Instagram: @shiranimpathak Facebook: @ShiraniMPathak For a transcript of this episode visit www.shiranimpathak.com/podcast Donate to the work: Shirani on PayPal *Some links may be affiliate links. S3E29 Intimacy: Into-Me–You-See

I used to be terrified of intimacy.   I'm not talking about intimacy in that sexual kind of way; I am talking about that very deep, deep level of knowing yourself and another person. I was terrified of letting people see me and know me as who I actually am, who I truly am, me as my fiercely authentic self.  In today’s episode, we are talking about intimacy as the antidote to supremacy. I truly believe that intimacy is supremacy's kryptonite that is going to truly get at the root of supremacy culture. So, join me today to learn how supremacy culture has embedded into us the fear of intimacy and what you can do to break free.     In today’s episode, we cover:  Intimacy aka Into-Me-You-See  Supremacy’s conditioning around intimacy  Putting up insta-wall out of fear  Why we feel that intimacy is dangerous How to break free of our fear of intimacy     Resources mentioned:  The Sanctuary https://shiranimpathak.newzenler.com/courses/apply-for-sanctuary     Quotes  [00:02:52] Because when the oppressor isn't out there, we end up doing it to ourselves. That's how the system continues to perpetuate itself, because we do it to ourselves and then we do it to our loved ones. So, it really hasn't gone anywhere in the world, it's just changing form and continuing to be transmitted from person to person, and therefore continues to create the world that's all fu*ked up, that we see today.  [00:07:54] Supremacy's conditioning wants us to stay disconnected from ourselves, from Source, from each other. And when we go into this space of disconnection, what ends up happening is we lose touch with our humanity, and the humanity of the people around us.  [00:11:30] This is one of the things supremacy culture has embedded into us, that we can't allow ourselves to be intimate and to be in these intimate relationships with ourselves or with Source or with another person. Because then there's a risk, there's a threat, like there's danger that will come upon us.   [00:21:43] We don't allow intimacy with ourselves either because it is terrifying, to open ourselves up to truly being seen, to truly being known, to truly being understood, to truly being received. And yet that is the very thing that we desire most. And that is the very thing that we crave as human beings. And that is the very thing that is essential to our survival. S3E28 The Strong Woman Syndrome with Taccarra Renee

Are you the type of woman who feels like she has to have it all together, all the time, otherwise she feels like a complete failure? If your answer is “yes”, you might suffer from the Strong Woman Syndrome.   In today’s episode, I am joined by Taccarra Renee to dive deeper into this topic and so much more!  Taccarra is a speaker, strategist, soon-to-be author and coach, who has made it her goal to help the high-achieving, strong woman live her most authentic life outside of the workspace. She believes that for far too long, women have been told that following the formula of going to school - getting good grades - getting a job = a successful life. Unfortunately, this formula has left many women unfulfilled and lacking critical knowledge. Taccarra bridges this gap by discussing all of the things that she wishes she had known surrounding self, relationships, money and careers on her weekly podcast, A Letter to My Sister. Taccarra pulls from her unique life experiences of being a military child turned military member and nurse to take clients through her dream and core frameworks, both of which we will be diving into today, to assist the strong woman in creating the life that she desires    In today’s episode, we cover:  How stress and emotions affect our health  Spreading ourselves too thin  The Strong Woman Syndrome  Taccarra’s D.R.E.A.M. and C.O.R.E. framework Changing the DNA for generations to come    Resources mentioned:  Connect with Taccarra on Instagram and Facebook Taccarra’s Free Journaling Exercise Taccarra’s podcast A Letter to My Sister    Deadly Emotions: Understand the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection That Can Heal or Destroy You by Don Colbert    Quotes   [00:11:20] As women, we're not allowed to express our feelings and emotions. we just have to be happy and pleasing and joyful and do whatever anyone wants, and do it with a smile on our face. That's just what stereotypically we're taught.  [00:26:00] We have to allow ourselves to dream and not be so logical about it. We're so logical that we'll talk ourselves out of our own dream before we can get it out on paper.   [00:23:48] Smiling, being free, being authentic, being playful, being feminine…once you have started to take care of “me”, that brings a totally different energy that will pull other people to you.]  [00:43:00] But really, it’s in our softness, in our femininity, in our ability to connect with others, that is where our strength resides. S3E27 Your Relationship Sucks. Here’s Why.

Your relationship sucks. Yes, you read that right. Your relationship sucks and here’s why.    We have been taught lies about who we are and who other people are. We think that we're these horrible, awful, terrible people. And because we think that we're horrible, awful, terrible people, we think others must be horrible, terrible, horrible, awful people too.    The system was designed in a way that does not foster intimacy, connection, communication and love, because the moment that we reconnect with love, all those shields, all those veils, all of those illusions disappear and the barrier of separation will no longer exist. And when that no longer exists, the system collapses and falls.     In today’s episode, we cover: Lies about relationships that supremacy culture has taught us   Why you believe that there is something wrong with you  You’re a child of the universe, it’s time you embrace it How to reconnect with love and expand your heart  You do not have to do it perfectly, but you have to do it     Quotes  [00:01:53] We think that we're horrible, terrible, awful people, and so therefore we think other people must be horrible, terrible, awful people, what happens? We start to defend ourselves against any potential attack. But first, we prepare to attack.  [00:05:43] Living under systems of supremacy, living under systems of oppression for the last five to six millennia have led us to believe, first of all, that we have to attack and defend; and second of all, that there must be something wrong with us.   [00:08:23] Our brains, our bodies and our behavior on an unconscious level, reflects a very deeply, deeply seated belief that there is something wrong with you, and that you're a horrible, terrible, awful person. And the more you spin around and around in this cycle, and the longer you spin around and around in that cycle, you begin to forget who you truly are. And you begin to forget whose you truly are.  [00:11:58] The system was designed in a way that does not foster intimacy and connection and communication and love, because the moment that we reconnect with love, all those shields, all those veils, all of those illusions, stories that we've created, the dances that we've been dancing in our heads that are no win situations, all of those disappear. And the barrier of separation will no longer exist.  [00:16:15] When you stand fully rooted, fully anchored, and grounded in the energy of love, you remind other people who they are. You remind other people that they, too, are loved, and then their illusions vanish. And now there's two of you in that energy, and the two of you go out and interact with others, who then interact with others, who then interact with others, and exponentially this ripples out. And that is exactly what we do here through the practices of Fierce Authenticity. S3E26 How to Calm the F*ck Down

We are continuing the conversation on your nervous system and relationships. Last week, we talked about the role of your nervous system in your relationships, and how one nervous system truly does impact all of the other nervous systems around it.   Today, I want to talk to you about co-regulation. One nervous system has the ability to impact another nervous system, because all nervous systems communicate with each other. So, today’s episode is all about how you can use that to calm the fu*k down when you are feeling dysregulated.    In today’s episode, we cover:  What is co-regulation and how it benefits us  Activating the polyvagal nerve to deescalate an activated nervous system.   The importance of hugs and cuddle time for our nervous system  Regulating our nervous system by ourselves: one hand on heart, one hand on belly     Quotes  [00:07:37] The best way for doing this and activating that part of our nervous system, the polyvagal nerve to help calm us the f*ck down, is a really great big chest to chest hug with someone, especially someone that you love, or you care for or have strong positive feelings towards.  [00:20:03] There's something so magical that happens when we connect with that space, the center of our body, up and down the front, between our heart space and our belly. Whether that's with another human in that really big hug and cuddle time, whether it's with our furbaby and just being present with them, whether it's with yourself by placing that hand on heart, hand on belly and breathing. And then as a result, that trickles out to every other nervous system around you and that you come into contact with. S3E25 Your Nervous System and Relationships

Our nervous system can make or break any relational interaction that we have with someone.  One nervous system will pick up whatever is happening with another nervous system. If one person's nervous system is activated, and your nervous system gets activated right there with them, it's not going to be pretty.   In today’s episode, I share with you how your nervous system impacts your relationships and how you can regulate your nervous system from a place of calmness and kindness, so that you don’t get pulled into that “fight or flight” energy.      In today’s episode, we cover: My 17-hours-long trip from New York to San Jose   Not allowing yourself to get pulled into activated nervous system energy  Regulating your nervous system from a place of calmness and kindness Why co-regulation is so important How our nervous system impacts our relationships     Quotes   [00:21:14] I contributed to a brief moment of pause and regulation, because I showed up with a calm, nervous system. And I was able to just be present and not get caught up in the attack energy. And that trickled out to every other exchange and interaction that I had.  [00:22:36] One nervous system will pick up whatever is happening with another nervous system. And if one person's nervous system is activated, and your nervous system gets activated right there with them, it's not going to be pretty. But if one person's nervous system is activated and another person's nervous system is not, there is the potential to help regulate the other person's nervous system. S3E24 Stop Denying your Dreams and Desires

For years and years now, there has been a desire that I’ve had really deep in my heart. It is a desire that I’ve written about and dreamt about over and over. A desire to have a career as an author, speaker, and transformational leader.   I’ve had this desire for years, yet I’ve denied myself permission to go after it. Why?   Well, if you know me then you know that the answer comes back down to supremacy and supremacy culture's impact on us. It comes back to the ways that we’ve internalized supremacy, the parts that tell us that we're not good enough, that we're not worthy enough, that we're not valuable, that we can't achieve our dreams, that we can't experience that thing that our heart truly desires.  In today’s episode we're talking about why it is that you hold yourself back from your desires and your dreams and how to break out of that cycle.     In today’s episode, we cover:   Why I am so over being a therapist  How supremacy culture has conditioned us to believe that we're not good enough Taking full ownership of your dreams and your desires Leaving fear, scarcity, and lack behind you How to say “yes” to yourself and your dreams     Quotes  [00:03:30] For generations and even thousands and thousands of years, we have been taught that we're not important, that we don't matter, and that we have nothing to offer. And even though on a conscious level, you may know how untrue that is, yet on your subconscious level because of the ways your brain your body and your nervous system have been conditioned by supremacy, on an unconscious level you truly do believe that you aren't important, you aren't worthy, you don't matter.  [00:20:45] That is what I have been dreaming of, envisioning and have wanted so deeply in my heart. But I didn't think that I was important enough, that I was worthy enough, that I was valuable enough to be able to take full out 100% ownership of that vision and that dream.  [00:23:48] The reason we withhold permission from ourselves, the reason we deny ourselves our desires and our dreams is because this is the way that we've been programmed and conditioned. This is what lives so deep inside of us. This is what that programming has been for millennia    Links: To connect with us on the complimentary private newsletter community, be sure to visit www.shiranimpathak.com/connect Instagram: @shiranimpathak Facebook: @ShiraniMPathak For a transcript of this episode visit www.shiranimpathak.com/podcast Donate to the work: Shirani on PayPal *Some links may be affiliate links. S3E23 Lies About Productivity

Today, we're busting the myth that you have to constantly be productive  Now that spring has officially sprung, it's a great time for us to talk about productivity and the natural seasons of rest.   Living in the culture that we do, we have been just conditioned to believe in this myth that we have to be productive all the time, that we're supposed to constantly be hustling. This is just another part of supremacy culture's conditioning on us that comes from toxic capitalism.     In today’s episode, we cover: How to follow the natural cycle of productivity  Being constantly productive is a myth  The natural rhythm that your body follows and you should too Don’t buy into the lie that wants you to stay oppressed     Quotes  [00:01:59] When we are constantly producing and in a state of perpetual “harvest”, what ends up happening is, we yield fruit, we have harvest, that's empty, and hollow, and devoid of all nutrients. And if that's what it does to our food, imagine what it does to us and our work in the world.   [00:09:45] I was equipped with both pieces of information. One: being able to spot my brain freaking out; and two: the evidence that my business income picks up as my energy picks up, as the sun is out more, as the days start to get longer. Because my soft, supple human body, which is a soft, supple animal body follows the natural rhythm of rest, of turning inward, of preserving my energy during those dark, cold, sometimes rainy, winter months.  [00:14:21] You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to turn inwards, you are allowed to snuggle up and to be in those fuzzy jammies and those fuzzy robes, you are allowed to do abso-freakin-lutely nothing at all. And anything that leads you to believe otherwise, anything that leads you to feel guilty or shameful around your need to rest, those are just the lies and the bulls*it the supremacy culture has been conditioning you to believe, so that you can keep yourself and your loved ones oppressed. S3E22 Nisha Interviews Shirani

Recently, I was a guest on Nisha Mody’s podcast MigrAsians. Unfortunately, MigrAsians is no longer releasing new episodes, but Nisha was kind enough to let me share that recording on our Fierce Authenticity Podcast. We dived deep into topics of supremacy conditioning, generational trauma and healing the system from within.    And that’s what you’ll hear today!     In today’s episode, we cover:  The story behind Fierce Authenticity   Coping mechanisms and the midfu*k that systems of oppression led us to   How to go from generational trauma to generational care  Dysregulation of our nervous system is in all of us  Changing the system from within     Quotes  [00:15:48] I still have family that talks about someone being fair or light in relation to their worth, and it's just really unfortunate, but it's a fact. It's a fact of the culture and the socialization as well.  [00:25:24] We really can make a difference as individuals. I do think that systemic change needs to happen, but the more people bring stuff up and start examining themselves, that can potentially push for a systemic change and potentially shift power dynamics.  [00:38:55] Systems out there will change once the people who make up that system change. This is an internal work. As a Trojan horse, this is how the work has to be done - in a really sneaky way from the inside out. Because it's not going to come from the outside in. S3E21 Family Legacies

As I am recording this, I am moving through the loss of a loved one.  The feelings that come up are so complex. That's what grief, loss and death bring up - complexities of emotion.   But, it can also stir up all of the anger, all of the resentment, all of the stories and all of the feelings that we have…and it can feel so conflicting because they're still our loved ones. It’s okay to can hold that the duality where on one hand, you know they were a good human with a generous heart, but on the other hand, parts of your experience with them fu*king sucked.   Today, I want to speak with you about this thought that came up for me as I was moving through all of this grief, anger, resentment and the complexities of all of the human emotions: One's spirit knows so much more, and has so much more wisdom than one's limited human form could have access to.    In today’s episode, we cover:  Complexity of emotions when you lose a loved one  Spirit knows so much more than our limited human form Are they really doing the best they can? Creating a new legacy for generations to come     Quotes  [00:04:06] One's spirit knows so much more, and has so much more wisdom than one's limited human form could have access to. And that was a thought that arose for me as I was sitting with the grief and sitting with the mourning and sitting with the complex feelings.  [00:13:39] To be fair, I do believe that this person really was doing their best when they said to me: Never be alone with such and such person or never be alone with men. I truly believe that that was the story that they believed. And so that is the story that they passed on.  [00:15:11] These legacies are going with them. They will not continue with me, I will not allow for them to be perpetuated and I will not allow for this abuse to be experienced in my family ever again. Because I am the ancestor who is creating a new legacy. I am the ancestor who is working towards dismantling all of the ways that systems of supremacy and oppression have been internalized within me and all of the harm that they have done. S3E20 Why You Don‘t Deserve Nice Things

Today’s episode is another loving truth bomb from my heart and soul to yours.  Do you deserve to rest only because you've worked yourself to pure exhaustion and are completely burnt the f*ck out? Do you deserve that raise or that promotion because you've been putting in all the extra hours and working yourself to the bone?  Supremacy has conditioned you to believe that your value and your worth come from external things when in reality you're inherently worthy and deserving simply because you exist. When you place your value and your worth on other people, places, experiences, achievements and things, you are putting a lot of power into the hands of others, instead of where it rightfully belongs - inside of yourself. It’s time to take that power back!    In today’s episode, we cover:  Why you don’t deserve nice things  Correcting your language and shifting your energy  Taking back your power and playing by your own rules  Don’t freak out, stay present Embodied and empowered in the truth of who we are - perfect, whole and complete    Quotes  [00:05:42] When you say: “I deserve that bag” or “I deserve those shoes”, or “I deserve that thing because I accomplished this other thing”, what you're saying is that your worthiness and your deservingness only resides in that which you are capable of doing.    [00:11:24] When you have placed your value and your worth on these worldly other people, places, experiences, achievements and things, then you sure are putting a lot of power into the hands of everyone and everything else, instead of where it rightfully belongs, which is inside of yourself.  [00:11:58. ]Living under systems of supremacy culture, supremacy has conditioned you to believe that your value and your worth does come from these external things because then you will continue to strive, you will continue to hustle, you will continue to do, you will continue to be overworked, you will continue to be exhausted, you will continue to be burned out. And as long as you continue to do that, then you are not a threat to supremacy. S3E19 How to Listen to this Podcast

“But Shirani these episodes are so deep and sometimes they stir up a lot of sh*t.”  If you ever have that thought while listening to this podcast, then I invite you to keep listening, because we are going to address that in today’s episode!  Today, I want to share with you some of my thoughts around what has come up and what I've heard from others as it relates to the podcast and the episodes that you hear here, how they might impact you, and ways to actually take care of yourself.    In today’s episode, we cover:  Exorcizing and extracting the lies and the conditioning   Using Fierce Authenticity to shift the way you see things  Taking it slow and allowing the words to sink in  Getting to the other side of being your authentic self     Quotes  [00:08:06] It's because the writing and what's being shared and the stories that are being told, are taking us into some of the deepest depths of the shadows in our human psyche. All of those things that we have shoved into the deepest, darkest reaches of our brain because they're too painful, too traumatic, too tragic to look at and to deal with, with the tools that we've had in place.  [00:09:39] I'm kind of like an agitator in terms of I am going to agitate those things in you that are lying there unaddressed but waiting for your attention.  [00:13:24] I encourage you to take it slow. To let these words really sink in. To let the messages land. To let these messages speak to parts of you that haven't been spoken to before or that haven't been given voice to. To allow what I'm saying here on the podcast, what I share on my Instagram and other social media channels, what I share in my newsletter, to let it all land and give voice to all of the things that you yourself have experienced or sensed or felt and you didn't have words for. And just allow yourself to be with it. Because that is how this process works. S3E18 People Don‘t Need to be Fixed

People don't need fixing.   Why? Because people are not broken.  Supremacy culture has created a system of standards, what things "should" look like or “shouldn't” look like. When we're operating under that system and if we're not meeting the exact standard in the exact way it was set, we're going to feel that there's something deficient in us.   This pattern is created by design, very specifically, to keep you thinking that there's something wrong with you, that you're not enough. Join me in today’s episode and lift the veil of supremacy to see the beauty in you and those around you.   In today’s episode, we cover:  A system of standards created by supremacy culture  The pattern that keeps you thinking you’re not enough You’re Divine Love in human form The place of greater love How can we all rise together?    Quotes  [00:03:25] When you don't show up to the standards, which supremacy culture has set based off oppressive, manipulative practices and tactics, you then have a tool to beat up on and oppress yourself because you think there is something deficient in you, when you are not meeting the standards that were set by that system.  [00:10:29] When we're in that place of greater love, and when we can understand that we aren't broken, and that the people that we love, or the people in our lives, aren't broken, then we can actually invite ourselves and them into remembering who they are at their highest expression of themselves. And as each and every single one of us begins to do that little by little, we invite every single person we come across to rise with us. And then we're not being something we're not, or at least trying to be something we're not. And then we're not fixing anything, because again, we're not broken. We are simply inviting others to remember the truth of who they are - perfect, whole, and complete. S3E17 People Pleasing is Manipulation

People pleasing is a form of manipulation.  Yes, you read that right - people pleasing is actually a form of manipulation.  Today's episode is going to be one of those truth bomb-uncomfortable-ouch feeling type of episodes. Go ahead and brace yourself because today we’re going to talk about how people-pleasing is a form of manipulation. Join me in today’s episode and learn how you can stop engaging in people-pleasing tendencies and reclaim your authentic self.   In today’s episode, we cover:  People-pleasing and codependency  Trauma responses in relational traumas  Please and appease as a form of manipulation  Reclaiming your authentic self   Quotes  [00:13:40] These were all super, super, important defenses in order to help us survive these painful and traumatic childhoods. What happens however, is that when we continue to carry these patterns into our adult lives and in our adult relationships, it can become really, really problematic.  [00:16:10] When you're not showing up in your relationships with who you authentically are, because you are trying to get something from someone else, then you're not in an authentic connection. You're not having authentic communication; you are not engaging in authentic relationships. Instead, you're showing up the way you think others want you to be. Or you're showing up the way that you think others want you to be. S3E16 HEAL Your Heart with Sherika Chew

My guest today is Sherika Chew. Sherika is a prayer counselor, inner healing coach and transformational speaker. She's co-host of the In Between Podcast and founder of Well Ministries. She helps men and women of faith address unchecked heart wounds that have the potential to completely derail their purpose.   Sherika is also the woman who planted the seed in my mind that the framework that I had been speaking about on the podcast, was actually a book. So, Fierce Authenticity 2.0 is happening mostly because of this amazing woman. Today, she is here to talk about finding your purpose and true joy through her H.E.A.L. method!    In today’s episode, we cover:  Why do we get off track?   Finding your purpose and true joy  Sherika’s H.E.A.L. method  Healing your heart wounds  Learning to trust ourselves and God     Quotes  [00:06:51] She and I are truly parallel in the work that we're doing in the world, and how we are helping people to really heal their hearts so that they can stay in alignment with who they are and who God wants them to be.  [00:13:37] I really, truly believe that true joy happens when you're on the track you were designed for. So, we get discontentment because we're just not in the right place, we're just not where we're supposed to be. We're trying to make something happen.  [00:16:08] As Brown people, we tend to feel like we need someone to tell us, just history has done that to us, you know, tell us which way to go, how to behave, how to look, how to fit into "what society is". And so, you can't fault our grandparents for the conditioning that they have, or the fear that they have when we decide we're breaking free of this. And we're just going to explore who we are and how we feel.  [00:29:58] All bodies of culture experience this fear of” what’s going to happen.” And so, it's not just contained to our home, it happens out there too. I know for me it has been leaning into and knowing that God did not create all the awful things that happen here. God did not create these systems and these structures, God did not create this fear, that is not of God, because to me - God is unconditional love.  [00:33:50] That bitterness comes from something, there's a root there. And when we're dealing with our heart wounds, if we find the fruit it will trace ourselves back to the root of that. And we can stop that fruit from growing, we can stop that bitterness from cycling over and over and passing down to our children and be free from that.  [00:55:41] But I've learned that I have to forgive myself for yesterday's me, the things I did with the tools I had, and the understanding that I had. I have to let go and grow into what God is calling me to do, and to be able to walk that track that it was designed for me. S3E15 An Alternative to New Year’s Resolutions

If you'd like a different alternative to New Year's resolutions, then this episode is for you.  Welcome to the final part of our three-part mini-series on how to get through the holidays, Fierce Authenticity style. S3E14 How to Have Good Boundaries During the Holidays

This holiday season, let’s talk about boundaries!  Welcome to part two of our three-part mini-series on how to get through the holidays in a different way this year. Today, we're talking about boundaries.   One of the biggest misconceptions that we have when it comes to boundaries is that boundaries are for other people. We create our boundaries; we communicate them with other people and then we get upset when they do not adhere to our boundaries. Do you know what that is? That’s participating in supremacy culture’s behavior of control. So, join me in today’s episode and learn how to break free while staying in alignment with your fierce truth! S3E13 How to Prevent Holiday Overwhelm

S3E12 How to Prioritize Your Relationships

If your relationships are not prioritized in the order of Source, self, spouse, then others, then this episode is for you.  We place so many burdens on our relationships. We put people in roles where they don't belong and we put ourselves into roles where we don't belong. We do this because supremacy culture has disconnected us from who we are and from who our divine source is. Join me today’s episode to learn a new way to prioritize your relationships!    In today’s episode, we cover:  The order of relationships   We cannot give from an empty cup  The transactional nature in our relationships  The shift:  Getting your guidance from a Divine Source.     Quotes  [00:09:30] Most of us, especially as high achieving badass, powerful change-making women put ourselves last on the list, if we're even on the list. And a lot of times - source, what's that? And we put everyone else before us. And when we do that we get burnt out, stressed out and overwhelmed. And quite frankly that's also when you start to feel really raggedy and torn down and you look in the mirror and there's bags under your eyes and all that other good stuff. That's what happens when you've got the order of relationships out of order.   [00:14:02] One of the biggest challenges that we see, especially in romantic partnerships, is that we try to make our significant other our everything. And so they need to be our partner, our spouse, our best friend or lover, our handyman or plumber. I mean, they need to be our everything. And that's too much of a burden to place on one person. And quite frankly, it's really not fair. And that's not their role. That's not their job. And yet, when you're putting them or others before yourself and God and anyone else, then what's going to happen is you're going to try to get something from them. That's the transactional nature that we often experience in our relationships.  [00:15:37] I know and you know, and your spouse knows that y'all didn't get married just to live like roommates. You got married to share this heart-centered connection, this heart-based connection with another person. But guess what? It's gonna be really hard for you to have that heart-centered connection with someone else if you're constantly trying to get something from them, that you ought to be getting from your Divine Higher Power instead. S3E11 Human Design with Christina De Los Angeles

Lately, we've been exploring how systems of supremacy and oppression teach us that we have to be either authentic or attached, when in reality - you can be both. In today’s episode, Shirani is joined by Christina De Los Angeles, a marriage and family therapist, Human Design enthusiast and relationship coach, to talk about the beauty of Human Design as a way to understand and as a way to connect, not just with our own authenticity, but also in relationships with others.    In today’s episode, we cover:  What is Human Design?  Breaking down your Human Design Graph  How you understand your Human Design Type The importance of your Centers, Strategy and Authority    Quotes  [00:27:30] This is what makes up our ecosystem and what keeps it balanced. Between the initiators and the visionaries and the leaders and the doers and the ones who are taking the barometer of what's happening in the community or in the world...when I put it that way, it just feels like actually it’s going back to ancient cultures and the wisdom that communities had before colonization. Because every member of the community really did have their role and their part.  [00:28:23] This is really honoring everyone's role in this whole. And it's not about who is more compatible. We have the opportunity to be compatible with each and every one if we're willing to see each other with different eyes and see each other for who we really are and who they really are.  [00:40:37] I'm always just filled with a lot of gratitude for those that I'm able to work with, Whether it's couples or individuals that I'm doing Human Design reading for, because truly I've learned so much from them. And it's a continual, just divine reminder of how unique we are and also it gives this reminder of having this perspective of expansion too. That's one thing I felt - Human Design is not constricting. In fact, every part of the Human Design can be experienced in a million different ways. S3E10 The Both And

Systems of oppression and supremacy culture teach us that we have to choose one or the other, black or white. When we do that, we miss the entire rainbow spectrum of colors that comes in between black and white, we miss the full potential that life has to offer. But, what if we could choose the “Both/And”?  Join me in today’s episode and learn how you too can have “Both/And”.    In today’s episode, we cover:  The binary way of thinking  Choosing to be attached over being authentic  Having the “Both/And”  Showing up authentically   Embodying and expressing your wholeness     Quotes   [00:15:14] That's the sad and unfortunate reality of a lot of us. A lot of us are moving through this life and moving through this world, thinking that we have to choose between being authentic or being attached. And when we do that, we stay in the place that supremacy culture wants us to stay in, that systems of oppression want us to remain in, which is not being authentically attached and authentically connected and authentically in relationships. Because when we're only bringing a part of ourselves to the relationship and leaving another part of us behind, we're not showing up in our whole and full selves.  [00:16:37] We have this huge God-shaped hole inside of us that we are seeking to fill with all of these things outside of ourselves. These experiences, these achievements, these accolades outside of us, because we're forgetting that we’re already whole. And quite frankly, that's what the practices of fierce authenticity are. It's to support you in removing anything that serves as a block or a barrier to you, fully owning, understanding, embodying and expressing your wholeness. Because your wholeness is your authenticity. S3E9 Authentic and Attached

For a lot of us, growing up under systems of oppression and cultures of supremacy, lead to questioning ourselves and our experiences. In this questioning, we start to disconnect from ourselves so that we can stay in connection and in attachment with those around us, because we’re taught that we can only have one or the other.  Join Shirani in today’s episode and find out how you can have both attachment and authenticity, how you can show up with love and compassion for others while also showing up with love and compassion for yourself.       In today’s episode, we cover:  Disconnecting from ourselves  Can we experience both attachment and authenticity? Binary vs Indigenous - there isn’t just one choice Don't get sucked into the illusion Show up with love and compassion     Quotes  [00:05:18] We're wired for connection, we're wired for belonging, and we're wired to be in community, whether that community is promoting safe and supportive cultures, or whether that community is supporting systems of oppression and supremacy culture and everything that comes with that including violence, hatred, chaos, anger, and all of that other stuff that we see primarily and predominantly in our world today  [00:08:30] When we're focusing on the binary, the one or the other, the black or the white, the yes or the no, the this or the that. the good or the bad...when we're only focused on two options and we have to choose one of the two options, meaning that one option is correct and the other option is incorrect, what we're doing is we're missing the entire rainbow spectrum of colors that comes in between. And this is what indigenous wisdom and other wisdom traditions understood - that there isn't just one choice. And more importantly that we can choose the “both/and”. S3E8 Healing the Trauma Caused by Supremacy

In today’s episode, Shirani dives into the connection between the trauma that originates from supremacy culture and the practice of fierce authenticity.   Supremacy culture has led us to the adaptation of disconnecting from who we are and suppressing our authentic selves. The disconnection from our authenticity is a trauma response. It is a survival response, it’s a way for us to survive the trauma of supremacy.   So, how do we heal?   By choosing to reconnect with ourselves and who we are. By humanizing ourselves so that we can start to reconnect with others and humanize them as well. This is what ripples out to heal us all. In today’s episode, we cover:  Trauma isn't only the big T traumas  The original relational rupture   Creating adaptations aka trauma responses  Attachment to others and authenticity  Healing by humanizing ourselves and others    LINKS AND RESOURCES:  Fierce Authenticity: Show up. Be Seen. Get Love https://www.shiranimpathak.com/fierceauthenticity    Quotes  [00:11:08] As I was moving through the process of learning and moving through my own healing, especially as I began healing through my own racialized trauma, what I realized is that what we're dealing with is so much bigger than the Euro-colonization and white body supremacy that began about 500 years ago. It actually goes back so far that we've completely lost touch with the fact that it started 5,500 years ago.   [00:16:19] The trauma of supremacy culture has led us to the adaptation of disconnecting from who we are and suppressing ourselves. The disconnection from our authenticity is a trauma response. It is a survival response. It is a hard disconnection from our authenticity, it’s a way for us to survive the trauma of Supremacy.   [00:17:18] Humans have only two survival needs: attachment to others and authenticity, which is our attachment to ourselves and our own gut feelings.  [00:24:01] The practice of fierce authenticity supports us in healing from the trauma of supremacy culture by utilizing scientific, psychological and spiritual tools so that we can connect with our fierce authenticity and live, love and lead from that space, rather than from a space that's still operating under systems of oppression and from systems of supremacy. S3E7 The Truth About Self-Sabotage

In today’s episode, Shirani expands on the topic of how supremacy culture shows up in our everyday life by talking about self sabotage.  There’s a misconception that if you just don't listen to that self sabotaging voice, you'll be able to just push through and do whatever needs to be done. Just. Push. Through. But that’s exactly what supremacy culture wants us to do; to force, to push against, to oppress. Because self sabotage isn't actually sabotage; what most people call self sabotage is actually self preservation. In today’s episode, we cover:  Supremacy culture's lies about self sabotage  Going down the rabbit hole of self sabotage   How to break the loop of self sabotage  Compassionate curiosity: create an alliance not divisiveness.  Quotes  [00:08:51] Self sabotage isn't actually sabotage. That's just one of the lies that has sprung forth from the well of supremacy culture’s lies in order to keep beating up on yourself. Because if supremacy culture is not beating up on you, and your parents aren't beating up on you or your boss isn't  beating up on you, well somebody has to beat up on you and that somebody is going to be you.  [00:17:07] If there is a part of you that has been conditioned to believe, whether that be personally, ancestrally, intergenerationally or collectively, if there is a part of you that has been conditioned to believe that is unsafe for you to be seen in this position of power, or for you to even have a position of quote unquote power, then of course, your protector parts are going to kick up, sound the alarm bells and activate self preservation, because it just wants to keep you safe.
