On this ep I speak with re-occurring guest Kip K as mentioned he's an Emmy award winning producer and he has worked on some massive shows in the entertainment industry. Such as "Ted Lasso" , "Shrinking" , "Bad Monkey" and my favourite all time show "Scrubs" and many more. All the shows mentioned are still in production "Shrinking" is currently airing on apple , and the rest have new seasons coming out and we speak about new show with comedy star Steve Carrell as the main character in the new show "Rooster" and the highly anticipated reboot of the comedy cult classic "Scrubs". Kip has been on a few times before and we chat about what he's been up to since our last chat (About 15 months ago). He shares some highlights of his work and shares some stories of being on set of these shows. Kip also answers my questions as to what his roles are and goes into detail as to some of the challenges he faces on a daily occurrence at work . Dear Listeners please forgive the long title and bio but it is appropriate in this instance because it's not often you meet a larger than life humble human with a story like this one ! Meet Asif Sultani as the title suggest he has done ALOT not all by design . He was Born In Afghanistan he is of Hazara heritage was exposed to things no child should have to face. He and is family had to cross the border into Iran to try and live a better life . Exposed to gunfire being separated from his parents and forced to seek a life for himself at the age of 16. He arrived to Australia as a refugee seeking asylum by boat and after being moved around the country settled in the Hunter Valley of NSW where he was given the opportunity to have an education , He also met his now lovely wife (As they were high school sweet hearts) and fell in love with Mixed Martial Arts. After over a decade he obtained his permanent visa and due to this he was able to start the process to try and bring his mother over in an attempt of a better life. He unfortunately lost his father and wasn't able to say good bye. He was in two viral video one of which was shared so much it received over 100 million views (yes I typed that correctly to which there is a link below.) The videos captured moments that were both heartbreaking and heart warming one was the first time he was able to visit his fathers grave to which he made the promise to bring his mother to Australia. After 12 years the moment was captured of him falling to his knees and holding his mother tight both videos bought me to tears. Asif recalls what it's like for someone actively seeking asylum and shows his sincerity and humble nature to those who have aided him on his journey along his journey he explains he wanted to learn how to fight to keep himself safe and fell in love with mixed martial arts. He is so talented he was offered a scholarship to train and possibly compete for the refugee group at the Japen Olympics. I can't do Asif justice despite all the adversity he and his family have endured he does good work raising money and awareness for refugees all over the world he truly is a remarkable human. On this episode I have the incredible opportunity to speak to an extremely brave Australian woman Simone O'Brien. WARNING this episode contains references to domestic violence which could be triggering for some listeners if you or someone you know is suffering, please find resources to help down below In 2012 she suffered a horrific domestic violence attack at the hands of a perpetrator who would not take “no” for an answer. It started with emotional and psychological abuse, including telling lies, stealing money and insults. And it ended with her being beaten with a baseball bat to within inches of her life. She lost eyesight on her right side and her sense of smell. Her skull is currently held together with screws and titanium plates. The ripple effect of this on her children has been unimaginable. I became aware of Simone's story at a workplace comms day where she presented her story and had an audience of hundreds of people speechless and in awe of her presence ... 53 Surgeries , Court Cases , Medical Treatment every week for the rest of her life are bit some of the hardships she has had to face from experiencing a truly traumatic experience. Yet despite this she offers help freely on a mission to break the stigma of DV , raising awareness , helping identify red flags and educating individuals on ways to help break and end the pandemic of DV. It was an honor to host such a selfless kind person and have a very important conversation . 1 in 4 women suffer from DV in Australia and 1 in 14 men suffer . Also we lose a womans life on average every 4 days due to DV which is a truly alarming statistic. I encourage you all to listen to this conversation as its a current relevant topic in the world at present and help end the horror of DV. He has won premierships , played state of origin , Represented not 1 but 2 nations , In Australia and Ireland , Played Country Rugby League Rep footy , Represented Two First Grade clubs (Melbourne and Canberra) After his 10 year career as a player he has gone onto various successful coaching roles for another 10 years and still going strong. He is currently an Assistant Coach at the Gold Coach Titans and has been apart of the coaching staff of the Australian Side , The Canberra Raiders and will join the coaching staff in the 2024 State of Origin Series for NSW. It is of course the extremely humble , kind , tough and talented Brett White . He opens up about his stellar career revisiting some of the highs and lows . We talk about premiership titles he won as a player and even the controversial salary cap scandal in the 2009-2010 seasons and plenty more as he offers a rare insight as both a player and coach.
