We Grew Up Calling This ‘Catholic’… It’s Not

This isn’t CatholicThis video is a serious conversation about Mexican Catholic culture, cultural Catholicism, and the difference between authentic Catholic faith and practices rooted in superstition. Many Catholics grow up surrounded by devotion. Prayer, candles, saints, and deep love for Our Lady of Guadalupe. But at the same time, many are also exposed to beliefs like mal de ojo, limpias, tarot cards, zodiac signs, and other spiritual practices that are not part of Catholic teaching. So where is the line between faith and superstitionIn this video, I talk about Catholic teaching versus superstition, mal de ojo and evil eye beliefs, tarot cards, astrology and zodiac signs, limpias and folk spiritual practices, and devotion to saints like Saint Anthony of Padua. This is not about attacking Mexican culture. It is about understanding the truth, growing in faith, and recognizing what actually comes from God.If you are Catholic, grew up in Mexican culture, or are trying to understand your faith more deeply, this video is for you. What do you think Have you seen these practices in your own life or familyChapters0:00 - Intro0:33 - Vírgen De Guadalupe2:15 - Mexican Catholic culture and faith4:15 - Mal de Ojo7:07 - Faith vs superstition explained9:19 - Why this confusion matters11:50 - Outro#catholic #faith #virginmary

He Should Have Died... (Brown Scapular Miracle)

I used to think the Brown Scapular was just a tradition until I experienced what I can only describe as protection I cannot explain away. This is my true story.Today I share two deeply personal Catholic testimonies that I believe reveal the power of Our Lady’s intercession and Brown Scapular miracles in modern life. The first testimony involves a night when my drink was spiked and my safety was at risk. In that moment of vulnerability I believe the Blessed Virgin Mary protected me through the Brown Scapular and called me back to purity, prayer, and obedience as a daughter of God.The second testimony is about my father’s car accident involving his truck, an event that should have been fatal. What followed is a near death experience that I can only understand through faith, prayer, and the protection of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Brown Scapular is a sacramental of the Catholic Church given through Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a sign of consecration, grace, and spiritual protection. This is not superstition. It is a true story and a testimony of God’s mercy working through Mary in real life.If you pray the Rosary, follow Catholic teachings, or are interested in Catholic miracles, Marian devotion, near death experience testimonies, or modern day faith stories, I hope this video strengthens your faith.Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/juliannarvivas/0:00 - Intro0:42 - Catholic Modesty and Authority Structure3:17 - My Drink Got Spiked9:30 - Brown Scapular Miracle15:36 - Why I Never Take This Off18:20 - OutroVIDEOS ABOUT THE BROWN SCAPULARThe Brown Scapular & St. Joseph : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8R6GWhf4PwThe Promises & Requirements : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm9sZmxY25kMiracles (Listen like a podcast) : https://youtu.be/s-x9o3rko18This video is a personal testimony shared in faith and reflection on Catholic devotion and the Brown Scapular.#catholic #prayer #faith

What is truth? Where is the authority that Christ gave to His apostles? And why are so many people rediscovering the Catholic faith after years in non-denominational or Protestant churches? We also talk about the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Co-Redemptrix and Mother of God, and why Catholics honor her as the greatest example of obedience, purity, and spiritual motherhood. Her intercession and cooperation in salvation history reveal the beauty of authentic Christian devotion that has existed since the earliest days of the Church. You will hear about the power of the Eucharist, the continuity of apostolic authority, and the beauty of sacramental life that cannot be found anywhere else. If you have ever asked what separates the Catholic Church from other Christian traditions, this episode will give you clarity. For those seeking the truth about Church history, worship, Mary, and faith, this is a conversation worth hearing.Spotify : https://open.spotify.com/show/4C0MIygIMhwJrcHC3pfntP?si=4a4c59bd96674e39Apple Podcast : https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/lilies-among-thorns/id1815927361Contact us : https://linktr.ee/liliesamongthornsInstagram : https://www.instagram.com/liliesamongthornspod/Julie's Instagram @juliannarvivasFran's Instagram @franccescasevilla0:00 - Intro4:00 - Trying Out Different Churches16:46 - What is Protestant Church21:10 - What is the Protestant Reformation?31:10 - The Power of the Holy Name of Jesus38:34 - What is Worship?41:35 - Do Catholics Worship Mary?45:15 - We Love Mother Mary47:00 - Worship Like the Early Christians51:20 - The Danger of Laying Hands Without Authority54:00 - Faith Without Compromise56:19 - Why Catholics Ask the Saints to Pray for Them58:22 - She Cruses The Head of the Serpent 1:04:35 - How To Start Loving Mother Mary1:07:33 - Outro#catholicwomen #latinmass #howtobecomecatholic

I gifted him my missal with a third class relic of Our Lady of Fatima with the image of St.Jacinta with a note i had wrote for him a year before i saw him that i had under sleeping St.Joseph, part of the confidence i had was a child like joy that note read "Im giving you this because i'm confident it'll end up back with me under the same roof as me when i become your wife"When i met him we drove his mom back home, and she asked me to come in, and he said no, i think he had his mind made up then in that first hour after meeting me, he later apologized for not wanting me to go in, i really thought he must've thought i was ugly or my breath stank haha.He wasn't all that cold, at the end of the night of the wedding, (He had called me prior to my arrival saying it wasnt prudent for us to dance) so he never wanted to dance closely at the wedding, but when he drove me back to the hotel, he slow danced with me in the parking lot to a song he told me he wanted to dance with me 2 years earlier (little things i found romantic he remembered and didnt seem cold)I saw what i needed to see, God showed me and i blocked & unblocked his new girlfriend reason why is because sometimes i go back to my blocked list to check it & i dont want to go through it one day and i see her & him on a profile picture, id appreciate if she blocked me instead. I only ask God for my own sanity i never see a picture on my algorithm of him proposing or getting married. Ive seen enough. God's Will VS My Will | Lilies Among Thorns

In this episode, we talk about what it truly means to surrender to God’s will when it doesn’t align with our own plans. Obedience isn’t easy when your desires feel so strong, but trusting God’s will over your own leads to peace, freedom, and deeper faith. We explore obedience in God’s will versus our own desires, how to surrender when God says no, and trusting God’s timing and plan for your life. We also discuss letting go of control, embracing spiritual humility, discernment, and seeking authentic spiritual direction for clarity. This episode touches on why birth control and cultural lies disconnect us from God’s design and how to find your true identity, purpose, and peace in Him. We also encourage you to seek authentic spiritual direction from Priests. If you’re struggling to trust God’s will in your dating life, marriage, career, or daily choices, this conversation will encourage you to let go of control and surrender completely to Him.Subscribe for more Catholic and Christian content on faith, femininity, and spiritual growth.Shop Sunshine's Rosaries by Angelica on Etsy : https://www.etsy.com/shop/sunshinerosaries/?etsrc=sdtInstagram Updates on Sunshine's Rosaries : https://www.instagram.com/sunshinerosaries/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ%3D%3D#Our Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/liliesamongthornspod/Julie's Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/juliannarvivas/Fran's Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/franccescasevilla/For More Ways to Connect And Stream Our Podcast : https://linktr.ee/liliesamongthornsTimecodes :0:00 - Intro2:04 - The Culture is Against God’s Will13:35 - From Secular to Practicing Catholic18:20 - A Letter to the Friends of the Cross19:37 - Surrendering to God’s No - Wrestling with God’s Will22:35 - God’s Perfect Will Over Control24:16 - Trust God’s Shepherds not Catholic Influencers29:55 - Seek Spiritual Direction and Obey The Church Not Regular Laymen32:35 - The Power of Confession Healing Mercy and True Freedom in God’s Grace35:14 - Outro

From Culture Catholics to Practicing Catholics | Lilies Among Thorns

In this powerful episode of Lilies Among Thorns, Franccesca Sevilla opens up about her journey from being a Culture Catholic to rediscovering the beauty of the traditional Catholic faith. Raised in a lukewarm environment, she thought checking boxes was enough—Mass on Sundays, Catholic in name, but distant from the heart of Christ. Until everything changed.Hear how God pursued her through the chaos of modern life, how the Latin Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and a deep hunger for truth led her back home. Franccesca shares the raw truth of walking away from worldly comfort, healing from past wounds, and embracing a faith that’s not just cultural—but convicting, countercultural, and rooted in sacrifice. If you’ve ever wrestled with your identity as a Catholic woman, felt stuck in spiritual lukewarmness, or wanted more than surface-level faith—this episode is for you.Franccesca's WebsiteFitForHisGlory : https://fitforhisglory.la/Our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/liliesamongthornspod/?hl=enJulie's Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/juliannarvivas/?hl=enZeneth's Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/juliezeneth/?hl=enFor more ways to stream the podcast, and connect find details here: https://linktr.ee/liliesamongthornsTimecodes : 0:00 - Intro1:00 - Late Have I Loved You3:00 - Searching in protestant Churches but Found Him in the One True Faith6:45 - Finding the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) - A Return to True Reverence12:25 - Attack on The One True Faith : The Catholic Church Always Under Fire19:44 - Delaying Baptism is A Sin26:30 - Leaving the World for Christ34:33 - Our Obsession with Praying Novenas36:53 - Too Shy to Make Christ Centered Friends45:03 - Our Lady of Guadalupe, Saints, Our Lord...Our Faith Can Not be Mocked49:08 - All Eyes on The Catholic Church57:47 - Outro#catholicwomen #latinmass #howtobecomecatholic

God Sees You in the Waiting | Lilies Among Thorns

In this episode of Lilies Among Thorns, we talk honestly about what it’s like to wait—without the filter. We share the quiet insecurities that rise when you feel hidden… the ache of wondering if God’s forgotten you… the doubt that creeps in when His timing doesn’t match your hope. And then there’s the comparison— Not just of who’s “moving forward,” but of beauty, worth, love, calling, purpose. When it seems like everyone else is seen, chosen, flourishing—and you’re still in the silence. This isn’t a pep talk. Not every episode ends on a high note. Sometimes, God invites us to stay in the ache. There are seasons of joy, but also seasons of sorrow—and even that is part of our purification. If you’re in a waiting season where everything feels uncertain… if comparison is stealing your peace… if you’re tired of pretending you’re okay—this episode is for you. We don’t have all the answers.
