The police call Grace Hunter's death a suicide, but the client doesn't buy it. He's her brother—or is he? After his murder, police find multiple driver's licenses, and his real identity is a mystery. He, too, hires the pair to solve Grace's death and reveals some darker facts. Neither the lovely beaches of San Diego nor the enchanting desert of Arizona can conceal the brutal danger that exists there. They no longer have badges, but they are still detectives—the night detectives.

Even being the adopted daughter of a revered cop couldn’t keep Abbie’s troubled past from making her a misfit in the working-class Irish American enclave of South Buffalo. And now, despite a Harvard degree and a police detective’s badge, she still struggles to earn the respect and trust of those she’s sworn to protect. But all that may change, once the killing starts. When Jimmy Ryan’s mangled corpse is found in a local church basement, this sadistic sacrilege sends a bone-deep chill through the winter-whipped city. It also seems to send a message—one that Abbie believes only the fiercely secretive citizens of the neighborhood known as “the County” understand. But in a town ruled by an old-world code of silence and secrecy, her search for answers is stonewalled at every turn, even by fellow cops. Only when Abbie finds a lead at the Gaelic Club, where war stories, gossip, and confidences flow as freely as the drink, do tongues begin to wag—with desperate warnings and dire threats. And when the killer’s mysterious calling card appears on her own doorstep, the hunt takes a shocking twist into her own family’s past. As the grisly murders and grim revelations multiply, Abbie wages a chilling battle of wits with a maniac who sees into her soul, and she swears to expose the County’s hidden history—one bloody body at a time. With Black Irish, Stephen Talty stakes a place beside Jo Nesbø, John Sandford, and Tana French on the cutting edge of psychological crime thrillers.

Title: Guilt: An Alex Delaware Novel Series: #28 of Alex Delaware - Abridged Series Author: Jonathan Kellerman Narrator: John Rubinstein Format: Abridged Audiobook Length: 6 hours 57 minutes Release date: February 12, 2013 Genres: Suspense Publisher's Summary: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER  Jonathan Kellerman’s “psychology skills and dark imagination are a potent literary mix” (Los Angeles Times), and this intensely thrilling blend has never been so powerful as in the acclaimed author’s new novel of murder and madness among the beautiful dreamers, seductive predators, and doomed innocents adrift in the glare of Southern California’s eternal sunshine.   A series of horrifying events occur in quick succession in the same upscale L.A. neighborhood. A backyard renovation unearths an infant’s body, buried sixty years ago. And soon thereafter in a nearby park, another disturbingly bizarre discovery is made not far from the body of a young woman shot in the head. Helping LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis to link these eerie incidents is brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware. But even the good doctor’s vast experience with matters both clinical and criminal might not be enough to cut down to the bone of this chilling case—and draw out the disturbing truth.   Backtracking six decades into the past stirs up tales of a beautiful nurse with a mystery lover, a handsome, wealthy doctor who seems too good to be true, and a hospital with a notorious reputation—all of them long gone, along with any records of a newborn, and destined for anonymity. But the specter of fame rears its head when the case unexpectedly twists in the direction of the highest echelons of celebrity privilege. Entering this sheltered world, Alex little imagines the macabre layer just below the surface—a decadent quagmire of unholy rituals and grisly sacrifice.   Before their work is done, Alex and Milo, “the most original whodunit duo since Watson and Holmes” (Forbes), must confront a fanatically deranged mind of such monstrous cunning that even the most depraved madman would shudder. Praise for Jonathan Kellerman and Guilt   “A solid, poignant tale of violence against the innocent . . . cool, brisk and polished.”—The Washington Post   “Action-packed . . . Kellerman proves he can keep readers entertained and engrossed in a story that keeps them on the edge of their seats to the final page.”—Wichita Falls Times Record News “Certainly one of [Kellerman’s] best offerings to date . . . Do not miss this one.”—Bookreporter   “Jonathan Kellerman’s psychology skills and dark imagination are a potent literary mix.”—Los Angeles Times   “The combination of Alex Delaware [and] Detective Milo Sturgis . . . makes for the most original whodunit duo since Watson and Holmes.”—Forbes   “Jonathan Kellerman’s novels are an obsession; once started it is hard to quit.”—Orlando Sentinel   “Kellerman doesn’t just write psychological thrillers—he owns the genre.”—Detroit Free Press

Jack realizes that if he reports the crime - and his self-defense - he will have a guardian appointed because of his young age, and the event will haunt him for the rest of his life. So he "disappears" his family and the killer by incinerating and disposing of their bodies. After that traumatic event, Jack's other life challenges seem easy, as he roars through high school, college, and then joins the NFL's San Diego Chargers, starting as strong safety and punter, and backing up the quarterback as number 18. Along the way, he gains MBA and entrepreneurship training. Jack's business dealings will be better than an MBA for listeners who want to learn how to launch a business and have it prosper. This audiobook is perfect for people interested in business, football, and modern-day dealings between male and female. The insights incorporated range from the wisdom of Plato and Thoreau to Jefferson and Ali. The quotations are worthwhile on their own! The fast-paced scenes flash by, conveying both sagacity and great fun. Jack's "above average mediocrity" (to cite his own self-analysis), leads people to trust and rely on him. This is a modern saga of someone whose destiny is decided by others and who is dragged backward while trying to move forward. The book has much the same attitude of a Patricia Highsmith novel.

Haunted by his experience with an ancestral ghost who saved his life as a child, and the recent murders of two previous teammates, Jackson can’t tell if Adam’s demoted him or given him an extraordinary opportunity. Despite his link to the realm of spirits, he’s well aware that the living commit the most heinous crimes, with spiritualist charlatans existing merely to fool and seduce the unwary. To counterbalance Jackson’s careful skepticism, Adam Harrison has paired him with Angela Hawkins, a young woman who learned the painful lesson of loss at an early age. A police officer utilizing her paranormal intuition in Virginia, she already has her hands full. But Adam’s call to New Orleans is strong. The case: In a historic mansion in New Orleans’ French Quarter, a senator’s wife falls to her death from a balcony. Most think she jumped, distraught over the loss of her young son. Some say she was pushed. And yet others believe she was beckoned by the ghostly spirits that inhabit the house—once the site of a serial killer’s grisly work.Whether supernatural or all too human, crimes of passion, greed and desire will cast the pair into danger of losing their lives…and their immortal souls.“Graham does a great job of blending just a bit of paranormal with real, human evil.” —Miami Herald“Graham wields a deftly sexy and convincing pen.” —Publishers Weekly“An incredible storyteller.” —Los Angeles Daily News Title: Phantom Evil Series: #1 of Krewe of Hunters Author: Heather Graham Narrator: Jeff Cummings Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 10 hours 10 minutes Release date: March 29, 2011 Ratings: Ratings of Book: 3.61 of Total 23 Ratings of Narrator: 3.5 of Total 4 Genres: Suspense

His savage spree ended only when he himself was killed by the last survivor of the last family, a fourteen-year-old boy. Half a continent away and two decades later, someone is murdering families again, re-creating in detail Blackwood’s crimes. Homicide detective John Calvino is certain that his own family—his wife and three children—will be targets, just as his parents and sisters were victims on that distant night when he was fourteen and killed their slayer. As a detective, John is a man of reason who deals in cold facts. But an extraordinary experience convinces him that sometimes death is not a one-way journey, that sometimes the dead return.
