Greta checks in with local favorite Orgone about their upcoming shows!

Greta spoke with Darlene Spoor, the Executive Director of the Arcata House Partnership about all the meaningful services they provide Humboldt County. KHUM chose the Arcata House Partnership as our 2023 recipient of the Stop The Violence campaign funds because a lack of resources afforded to people experiencing homelessness and crisis is an act of violence, especially during this wet, cold winter and spring. KHUM proudly presents them with a check for $1280 and is using this opportunity to get the word out about the good work they do in the community. Chris Parreira, Rosalind Parducci and Amber Grimes came into the KHUM studio during Local Lunch. Hear them play some brand new tracks and perform a few songs off their new album 'Whispers.' The new album officially comes out this weekend. They'll be performing at the Works on Friday, Westhaven Center for the Arts on Saturday and the Siren's Song Tavern on Sunday. Local and internationally touring musician, Jenny Scheinman does so many rad things out there in the world. It's quite rare that she gets the opportunity to share what she's been up to with folks here at home, but that's about to change! Jenny talks to KHUM about her show "Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait" that'll be coming to the Arkley on Friday April 5th.

Local Ween cover band, The Stallions stopped by the KHUM studio to play a few and talk about their benefit concert tomorrow. They'll be playing at the Siren's Song Tavern and raising money for Humboldt Animal Rescue Team (HART).

This Humboldt band has been taking the world by storm recently! Diggin' Dirt is returning to Arcata after 5 months. They popped into the studio before the show to have a bit of fun.

KHUM was joined in-studio by The Pine Hearts from Olympia, Washington. They played a few songs from their brand new album, "Carousel," and talked about adventures to Antarctica and beyond.

Want to have fun and support a family who really needs it? For the last several years Lawnstock has brought together the community with music and lots of fun in order to benefit a local child and their family. This year they've chosen Marcelo Baker - a charming 7 year-old boy from Rio Dell who was in a car crash in 2014 where he sustained a major skull fracture. Earlier today Jamie Carroll, Zach Zwerdling and Jimmy Foot (aka part of Ghost Train) came in to play some tunes and encourage you to come out this weekend. This Saturday at Perigot Park come and see Ghost Train live with The Irie Rockers, Claire Bent & Citizen Funk, That Buckin' String Band, Belles of the Levee, Secret Club, The Paula Jones Band and Timbata!

They're back! Safari Boots aka John Howarth, Charly Eitel and now Marla Joy. They only play twice a year when John comes into town from England.

New York's Isle of Klezbos stopped at the station to chat and play a couple of tunes before playing Temple Beth El in Eureka as part of their 2018 West Coast Tour.

Michael Rault came in to play a couple acoustic tunes before his show at Richard's Goat Tavern.

The Mother Hips came by to visit and play some tunes before their show tonight at the Van Duzer. It was super chill. Make sure to pick up their new album Chorus when it's out on June 8.

Philip Deniz K, artist in residence at The Sanctuary in Arcata and former mastermind behind Humboldt County supergroup The Little Still Not Big Enough, stopped by the station to chat and play some original songs.

Fantastic Humboldt musician Melanie Barnett is releasing her album that she's been working on for a couple years tomorrow at the Santcuary (1301 J Street in Arcata) at 7 PM. She came in with her bandmates Cory Goldman, Nat Zwerdling and Gabe Lubowe to do an instudio yesterday. It was really great! Have a listen. The Joanne Rand Band is performing tomorrow at the Arcata Playhouse to raise funds for the Siskiyou Land Conservancy. Joanne and Rob Diggins came in to chat about the benefit and perform a few tunes.

Foxtrot came in to play some tunes and promote their highly anticipated CD release show tomorrow at the Sanctuary in Arcata (just down the street from the Vet's Hall at 1301 J Street).

Newly grown Humboldt Americana band Dead Bird Son came in to pick a couple tunes and show us their stuff.

Humboldt funk aficionados Object Heavy came in to chat and play some music. They spoke about some exciting things such as a new EP coming out called Transitions, a music video and much much more. Head out to the Jam on Saturday night to see them do their thang.

The Handshakers (fomerly Rogues' Gallery) has their debut show tonight, with the new line up and such, at Phatsy Kline's Parlor Lounge at the Inn at 2nd & C. Streets (Historic Eagle House). They came in to do a fantastic set beforehand on the radio. Check it out!

Altan came all the way from Ireland to spread traditional Celtic music and their love of the Irish language. They were kind enough to stop by the KHUM studio on the way to play tonight up at Humboldt State. Altan is: Dáithí Sproule- guitar, Martin Tourish- accordion, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh- lead vocals + fiddle, Ciarán Curran- bouzouki.

We always have a blast when Safari Boots pops in. Make sure to see them Saturday at Sirens Song Tavern in Eureka after Arts Alive (around 9:30 or so).

Abbie Gardner and J.P. popped in earlier for an instudio before the show at the Arcata Playhouse tonight.

No Pardon is just getting more and more fabulous. They're opening for Benyaro tomorrow at the Arcata Playhouse. Earlier today they came in to play a few songs with us to spread the joy. Check it out.

The Yokels will be paying tribute in the best way possible to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band tomorrow night at The Sanctuary in Arcata! It's the 50th anniversary and they've reimagined the album in full. They also have a little help from their friends with several openers playing a few of The Beatles other tunes. They came in to chat, play a bit and have some fun. Unfortunately, the show tomorrow is sold out. However, The Yokels will be playing at the Mad River Brewery on Saturday.

He has a show tonight at The Old Steeple in Ferndale with Lyndsey Battle, Colin Trujillo and Cam Trujillo.

Front Country stopped by before a show at Humbrews

Siren's Song tonight has a cool duo coming through. Nick and Luke are playing with locals No Pardon around 8:30PM. They came by the KHUM studios to give us a taste of what to expect.

Darren Weiss had an amazing duo called The Paper Wings on Chicken Scratch last night. Check out the performance and don't forget to head to the Sanctuary in Arcata at 7PM tonight (bring a dish, it's a potluck)!

Object Heavy (aka Humboldt funk collective) came in to talk about the addition of Johnny Woods (The Velvet Touch) as the lead singer. They also played some tunes to get you excited for their show with Absynth Quartet at Humbrews.

Sacramento bad ass Hannah Mayree and HSU student extraordinaire Jett Hagerty came in to play some tunes. We had a jolly good time. Check it out :)

Soul Jelly aka Marty O'Reilly and the Old Soul Orchestra AND Royal Jelly Jive did a fabulous instudio performance with Larry.

Cello player and all-around rad person, Ben Sollee, made a stop by the KHUM studio to play a few songs and talk with Lyndsey about bowing techniques, virtual reality and how technology is changing the way we communicate with one another. He played at Humbrews with percussionist, Jordan Ellis. Local band, No Pardon, opened.

7th Generation Rise, a project headed by Good Shield Aguilar, performed at Reggae on the River and they stopped by beforehand! Enjoy :)

A fabulous West Virginia band The Disappearing Man stopped by to play a few tunes before their show at Blondies Food & Drink tonight at 8 p.m.

The Good Homosapiens came in to play a few tunes and get you excited about the National Park Service's Centennial Celebration on Sunday. There will be bands, foodtrucks, activities, pony rides, speakers and more. The Redwood National and State Park's FREE celebration will be Sunday from noon till 6 p.m. at the bottom of Bald Hills Road, just off of Highway 101 north of Orick.

They're opening for another band that they are in, Flock of Foreigners. It's Flock of Foreigners two year reunion show. This morning, longtime friend of KHUM, John Berning stopped by the KHUM studio. John is in town visiting family and to play a set tomorrow night (Saturday) from 7 till 9pm at Old Town Coffee and Chocolates. We reminisce about the old days of KHUM's Gasoline Protests and the songs he wrote and performed. In fact, he even performed a couple of them live on this morning.
