Mirika - Live The InBrighton Live music show from Saturday 2nd March 2013 on RadioReverb - Community Radio for Brighton and Hove, UK Wordy, rhythmic with a dash of kitsch, Canadian/NZ chanteuse Mirika expertly walks the line between infectious pop and indie chic. She's had national airplay on the likes of BBC6 and industry awards including Quebec Canada’s Songwriter of the Year. Now based in Brighton, Mirika sings us 3 of her songs live, in the studio, accompanied by JJ on the guitar. She also accomanies herself on the African thumb piano on one tune. A multi talented mulit-instrument artist - I am looking forward to another session where she will also play her electric bass. Will Mavin + Zoe Hazel - sessions The Actually Live music show from Saturday 2nd February 2013 on RadioReverb - Community Radio For Brighton and Hove (UK) Two live sessions from young singer/songwriter/guitarists based in Brighton Zoe Hazel brings us original songs, bitter-sweet lyrics, sultry singing and tuneful guitar picking, all creating an air of melancholy mystery that is both poignant and uplifting - some of her songs are sung in Spanish and Catalan ( a regional language spoken in the area around Barcelona - that's where she used to live ) Will Mavin, with a style reminiscent of James Taylor or Jackson Browne ( both good things to be reminded of! ), brings his own original and authentic guitar sound and a rich and emotional voice to modern folk. 2 Sessions: Amity and Mee The Live Virtually Show from Saturday 19 January 2013 on RadioReverb - Community Radio For Brighton and Hove (UK) Live music sessions from two great singer/songwriters/multi-instrumentalists both once residents of Brighton and Hove Mee - combining tuneful vocals with lyrical passion and dexterity, and acompanying herself on guitar - Mee shows why she was a finalist in last year's Live and Unsigned UK showcase competition at the 02 in London - and tells us about her journey there Plus Amity - Recent live tracks recorded by Amity on a visit to Brighton. She lived here for some years but now moved away. Trip to Dover, Live The Live Actually show from Saturday 15th December 2012 on RadioReverb - community radio for Brighton and Hove, UK Olga, Ruud and Johannes, who collectively are this Brighton based group, rock the RadioReverb studio, mostly unplugged. We hear about their musical journey from Holland, originally, to being here now. And about where they are going - with tunes from their recent EP - Vegas and Berlin, and some new ones. The session is preceeded by pre-recorded tunes from Brighton musicians Sharon Lewes and the group; Tied to The Mast and followed by Trip to Dover's current single, Where Was I?, in proper studio form and also a tune from Suriname in South America (where people speak Dutch); Danny Kasanramellan and The Rhyntjangs with Pae Matjol Produced and presented by Donald Shier 58 minutes in length

Zoe Hazel + Stark (band) The Live Actually show from Saturday 8th December 2012 from RadioReverb Two live sessions from the RadioReverb studio She's tri-lingual (sings in three languages), is easy to recognise by her flower and is generally very nice - and she sings and plays her quiet but catchy songs beautifully.  A relative newcomer to the worlds of music, and Brighton, she is one of the few, if not the only, Scottish/Catalonian singer/songwriters in town Plus Stark - a trio now based in Brighton with an original sound for their self penned folk blues tunes Produced and presented by Donald Shier 58 minutes in length

Ham Legion and The Stars Down to Earth The Live Mostly! show from Saturday 24 November 2012 on RadioReverb, Community Radio for Brighton and Hove, UK One session Actually Live in the studio (as it was broadcast) and one with just tunes recorded in our studio previously (but still very good!) Actually Live this week; the mighty Ham Legion - a trio based now here in Brighton, and quite possibly Hove. They rock, and in this instance I mean that 'quite literally' - They describe themselves as heavy and for this session, due to the landlord living next door and being sensitive to loud music, they have toned themselves down. Rocking but tuneful is what I say. They are on second on the show While we got ready for the above ( I was late for the soundcheck!! ) you can hear three great tunes from The Stars Down to Earth. They are also are based in Brighton and Hove, or were, as they might still be on a break. I hope they do get together again, tho as these tunes are well worth hearing. Hatful of Rain and Eva from Apples and Eve, live in the studio The Live Actually! show from Saturday 17 November 2012 on RadioReverb, Community Radio for Brighton and Hove, UK Two popular music acts, (from round these parts but possibly bound for global, or bigger, recognition!) on this week's show: All of great foursome; Hatful of Rain preceeded by Eva; singer/songwriter/guitarist/accordionist with fab group; Apples and Eve Hatful of rain bring us folk with some subtle influences from american country tunes. They have an album out now of all but one original compositions - some of which you will hear on this podcast. You will also probably be seeing more of them in the future, which is a good thing, and also hearing them on some other radio stations! Eva from Apples and Eve, is proudly born and bred in Brighton, but we are the ones who should be proud. With great songwriting, singing, guitar and accordion, and art, skills, she is a youngster to watch out for, and listen to. Performing solo on this show, we hear two songs from her band's new EP CD. Ratbag + Hanna Burchel live in the studio Great Brighton band: Ratbag, live in the studio preceeded by marvelous singer/songwriter/multi-instumentalist: Hanna Burchell - both playing live in the RadioReverb studio, as the show is being broadcast (for the first time on Saturday 29 September 2012 from 5 to 6pm )  'not so much a music session, more like a game of sardines!'  Hanna Burchell performs songs from her new CD album; Lullabies, accompanying herself on guitar. The album is mostly traditional songs with one of her own, and Ratbag return for another blast of their accordion led gypsy/punk/ska/rock, backing up the powerful and poetic songs of Vita, who plays the acoordion and sings 55 minutes in length - the show also includes one studio track from each of the above Produced and presented by Donald Shier

Dirty Scavenger - Live The Artist Known as Dirty Scavenger, live in the RadioReverb Studio on InBrighton - Live Actually! from Saturday 21 July 2012 - Originally broadcast on RadioReverb Produced and Presented by Donald Shier A brilliant guitarist and singer/songwriter; Dirty Scavenger has been bringing her amazing and individual playing style and original songs to stages in Brighton for some years now - recently wowing the main stage at the Hanging Gardens of Brighton festival. But here she is, live at RadioReverb with songs from her several albums and EPs [So that the first part of our chat will make more sense (hopefully!), a tiny bit of a previous live band session, included in the broadcast show, to allow for soundchecking (don't ask me why we have to do that! ), has been left in the podcast; otherwise it's all Dirty Scavenger] This podcast is 45 minutes in length
