    The White Ship Disaster v3

2 of my ancestors left this ship before it's sailed into disaster, Robert, the Earl of Gloucester, the illegitimate son of King Henry the 1st and King Stephen of England, so it was a close call for me being here. and the Anarchy which they lead. As retold by author Rachel LawsonWhite ShipMain article: White ShipThe White Ship DisasterIn the wreck of the White Ship, the evening of 25 November 1120, William of Malmesbury noted the fate of the countess:"the water having washed some of the crew overboard and entering the chinks drowned others, the boat was launched, and the young prince getting into it might certainly have been saved by reaching the shore, had not his illegitimate sister, the countess of Perche, now struggling with death in the larger vessel, implored her brother's assistance, shrieking out that he should not abandon her so barbarously. Touched with pity, he ordered the boat to return to the ship, that he might rescue his sister; and thus the unhappy youth met his death through excess of affection; for the skiff, overcharged by the multitude who leaped into it, sank, and buried all indiscriminately in the deep." Thus William Adelin perished trying to save his sister Maud." Quote from wikipedia. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Long Sword, The Half Blood Prince

My few times greats grand uncle on 2 sides and a direct ancestor. He was a knight from the Middle Ages, a half-brother to Kings Richard and John(my ancestor), and some barons who signed the Magna Carta (also my relatives). He was called Long Sword because he used oversized weapons and was tall. True story of his death He had been injured in a ship sinking away, thought dead, and my ancestor Hubert de Burgh asked the wife if she'd marry his nephew. She refused him. Long Sword returned as if from the dead to her, and as an apology de Burgh asked the couple for dinner. Long Sword fell ill and died, presumed poisoned, and lay forgotten for 200 years. They rearranged the cathedral he lay in and found a poisoned black rat in his skull. Bringing light to a gothic mystery was whether the rat was poisoned by eating Long Sword or not Sorry if it is a bit grim am a gothic poet as special treat I made 2 ai pictures of him from his tomb and pictures see it on playground ai link below https://playground.com/design/cmcad7jxy019901s6bosj6c22 https://playground.com/design/cmcaecpty01qf01s6f0jx8xre another acquaintance, knight of long sword William Marshal one of my other ancestor as he looked like apparently https://playground.com/design/young-knight-on-gray-horse-in-open-field-cmbpyp29400eh01s67un902r7 Hosted on Acast.
