Loz Youngs
by Loz Youngs
[email protected] moved to Leeds almost 20 years ago to study at Leeds College of Music from the rural lands of Anglesey in North Wales. It was the nightlife which became truly inspirational however, and experiencing DJs such as Fatboy Slim and Darren Emerson at the legendary Back To Basics night at Mint Club proved to be formative indeed. Producing as one half of Soundex - a huge break came in 2004 when James Zabiela used the track “On/Off” on his Utilities mix. This paved the way for the two-piece to become Speculum (Loz, Vince and Tom). The lads went onto release tracks on a variety of labels and tour the Country with their live blend of Breaks, Techno and all-out Electronic Filth! It was during this time that the night Technique was a huge influence.

DREAM_BASS
This melody came to me in a dream and I hummed it into my whatsapp on awaking. Ableton helped me turn it into midi and use trillian to make the bassline. I then utilised Ill Gates' "Unbeatable Drums" to create the beats then processed the sections through Cableguys' Shaperbox. Had some great...

BANAL_RETENTION_PREVIEW
Futuristic funky and prime dancefloor fodder! Built around a rolling dirty subbass with a slick tripped-out guitar line. This alternates with a processed vocal/synth line from Minimal Audio's Current.

So I once again submitted an offering to the mighty Dave 'Columbo' Jenkins of One More Thing fame for his DEMO DROP show [email protected] if anyone has fresh music and wants feedback. The main points Dave made were that it needed to be louder and wider. Also, I could hear it didn't come...

Kill The Buddha Promo Mix 2021
My first mix in a little while! I wanted to take a fresh approach to this collection of music, putting together a list collated using Soundcloud tracks I found as well as it's algorithms, then hunting Bandcamp and Beatport further. I then made a playlist with a rough order and set to work making…

Gratitude
This tune started as an experiment in chopping many loops up and having them trigger sections of the others, sometimes at random. I then edited the results and built the rest of the sounds around the twisted-up base! The BLine is gated to these beats which provides a lot of variation even when...
