In early April, the prosecution delivered its closing arguments and presented its sentencing requests: ten years in prison for Ian Lundin and six years for Alexander Schneiter. How convincing was the prosecution’s case, and what did it choose to emphasizeTo discuss these questions, we are joined by two guests who have each spent nearly 20 years working to support the victims of Sudan’s oil war. Petter Bolme is a journalist and project manager at Global Idé, while Egbert Wesselink is a former senior advisor at the Dutch peace organization PAX and now an advisor to Global Idé. Wesselink also wrote the report that ultimately led to this trial.Together, they reflect on the trial’s final phase: How strong was the prosecution’s argument?
