Lundin War Crimes Trial

After more than three years in court, 346 hearing days and over 80,000 pages of court documents, the trial against Lundin Oil has come to an end. On May 28th, the doors of Courtroom 34 closed for the very last time. But even though the hearings may be over, the case is not. The judges will spend the coming months reviewing the evidence before delivering their verdict in early December.In this episode we go over the final arguments of the defense. In early April, the prosecution delivered its closing arguments and presented its sentencing requests: ten years in prison for Ian Lundin and six years for Alexander Schneiter. How convincing was the prosecution’s case, and what did it choose to emphasizeTo discuss these questions, we are joined by two guests who have each spent nearly 20 years working to support the victims of Sudan’s oil war.
