Coach Argenal assisted Eric Musselman at Nevada and Arkansas and has 19 years of collegiate coaching experience. He coached at Cal State San Bernardino the last two seasons and recorded 50 wins. During his initial season in 2023-24, Coach Argenal led the Coyotes to the D-II Final Four and a California Collegiate Athletic Association championship this past season as Cal State San Bernardino won the CCAA regular season in what is potentially the toughest D-II Conference in the game. Coach Musselman continually brings the Muss Bus through the "Marching to Madness" neighborhood. He is currently 238-111 in ten years in college basketball as he started at Nevada, where he took the Wolf Pack to the NCAA Tournament for three of four seasons, as he brought them to the Sweet 16, where they suffered a tough 69-68 loss to Loyola Chicago in 2018. Arkansas had not been to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament since coach Nolan Richardson retired, and Muss brought the Hogs to the Elite Eight in 2018. USC won 17 games last season as the Trojans fought the rigors of playing basketball in the Midwest and East in the Big Ten. USC made it into the Round of Eight in the inaugural College Basketball Classic in March. Coach Andrzejek came aboard the Buies Creek, NC, campus after working as the defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators for Coach Todd Golden in these last two seasons. Coach Andrzejek was the team's defensive coordinator as Florida finished sixth in the nation in defensive efficiency, according to kenpom.com. His defense was clutch as it played a key part in allowing the Gators to come from behind and win four of their six NCAA Tournament games. Coach Josh Pastner visits "Marching to Madness" once again as he is the first-year head coach at UNLV after two years at ESPN, where he was a solid color analyst in the studio and on the sidelines. Coach Pastner brings 276 career victories to the Thomas & Mack Center as he rebuilds the roster, where he added 13 new players to his first squad. He brought three CUSA Tournament championships and two regular season conference championships to Memphis when he placed the Tigers in four NCAA Tournaments. Coach Kevin Hovde recently cut the nets in San Antonio as he was coach Todd Golden's offensive coordinator at Florida, as the Gators took a 65-63 victory over the Houston Cougars for the NCAA Tournament Championship. Coach Hovde returns to Columbia, where he was on Coach Kyle Smith's staff from 2011-2016. He was an excellent hire by Lions brass with his definition of culture, the ability to build basketball players, and a deep knowledge of the game, of all facets of the game. Episode 1,012: Coach Mark Gottfried
Coach Mark Gottfried played guard at Alabama from 1984-87 and shot a high percentage as a playmaker. He followed basketball in his career when he was an assistant at UCLA for Coach Jim Harrick on the 1995 UCLA Bruins national championship team which preceded his skills as a coach. He won 498 games at Murray State, Alabama, NC State, and Cal State Northridge. He took the Crimson Tide to five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 11 years, which included the Elite Eight in 2004. He guided NCSU for six years, two in the Sweet 16. The UNC Asheville Bulldogs are once again poised near the top of the challenging Big South Conference. Coach Mike Morrell has produced one of the nation's better offensive teams since the Bulldogs average 82.5 points per game, shoot 47 percent from the floor, and find 62.7 field goal attempts per contest. Coach Padgett joins "Marching to Madness" actually on the Friday before the Oklahoma game and talks about the Bulldogs who have won three of its last five. Coach Padgett played on Kentucky's national championship team in 1997. He was first-team all-America in '97 and a first-round pick of the Utah Jazz in 1998, soending the next eight seasons in the NBA. Bulldogs head coach Chris Jans brought Coach Padgett with him as his assistant three season ago when he took over the program. According to kenpom.com, the Bulldogs are rated No. 29 and are in the top one-tenth in CBB in offensive and defensive efficiency.
