Due to some technical difficulties we join this session a little bit late… but in it, Dr. Ann Coker presented on the need to publish prior to pursuing grant funding and how to obtain funding through various agencies. Specifics on funding mechanisms was presented and are available on the mcBEE website under 2018 meeting materials Day 2 PowerPoint presentation.

Work-Life Balance - 2018 mcBEE Mentoring Meeting
Dr. Danielle Davidov gave personal stories on her struggles with work life balance as a mom to a six month old little boy and offers examples on what has worked well. Dr. Sarah McMahon also talked about the struggles and successes of being a working mom in academia.

Nurturing Interdisciplinary Collaborations - 2018 mcBEE Mentoring Meeting
Drs. Suzanne Swan and Bonnie Fisher gave experiences and examples with interdisciplinary collaborations that have worked well and not worked so well for them in the past. A common theme was that recognizing that the field of violence prevention cuts across multiple areas and therefore requires some flexibility.
