Yesterday's Heroes (Haco & Terre Thaemlitz) - Yesterdays Heroes (excerpt)

from the album "1979" (CD 2004) by Yesterday's Heroes (Haco & Terre Thaemlitz) 「1979」 イエスタデイズ・ヒーローズ (HACO & テーリテムリッツ) A special duo project featuring Haco (vocals, effects) and Terre Thaemlitz (electronics, voice). Yesterday's Heroes' debut album 1979 (released on La Louche in 2004) is an ambitious and unique pop collaboration between two artists who are better known for their experimental work. The concept called for the two of them to form a 1979-early 1980s new wave group and perform as younger, inexperienced versions of ourselves. Not quite Thaemlitz, not quite Haco, but a kind of "after-school" album. The songs, which have been described as "New Wave opera," recall classic techno-pop and industrial beats, but also seem to overlap with the coolness of today.

Diane Labrosse + Martin Tétreault + Haco - What Is Today's Recipe? (excerpt)

from the album, "Lunch in Nishinomiya" (CD 2005) by Diane Labrosse
 + Martin Tétreault
+ Haco 「ランチ・イン・ニシノミヤ」 ディアン・ラブロッス + マルタン・テトロー + HACO "In Lunch in Nishinomiya, Haco (contact microphones, oscillators, effects) joins forces with two leading Montréal improvisers known for their innovative playing: Diane Labrosse (sampler) and Martin Tétreault (turntable, surfaces, small electronics). When Labrosse and Tétreault came to Japan in 2003, they found a kindred spirit in Haco. The three recorded an improvised music session at Haco’s studio in Nishinomiya (near Osaka), and later completed the construction and mix through e-mail exchanges between Canada and Japan. This is not Haco the songstress. With exquisite balance, the trio combine a variety of grating, explosive, scraping, vibrating sounds (noises) with precise breathing and dynamism, tension and relaxation. The result is extremely delicate electroacoustic sound. —Improvised Music from Japan (JP) ■ Label / レーベル ■ Improvised Music from Japan (IMJ-527) (JP) ☁ Details / 詳細 http://www.japanimprov.com/indies/imj/nishinomiya/index.html

    Haco - Bugfield 1 (excerpt)

from the album "Stereo Bugscope 00" (CD 2004) by Haco 「ステレオ・バグスコープ 00」 HACO The name "Stereo Bugscope" refers to a performance system that detects oscillating sounds emitted by the circuitry of electronic devices. It also signifies the act of listening to the electromagnetic world that emerges from the inside of devices such as computers, cell phones, MD players, and wireless routers through the use of two inductive microphones (pickups). The oscillating-circuit sounds come from the IC board and clock, and the electromagnetic noise comes from the electrical current that turns the fan and drives the motor. Waveforms similar to the audio frequencies of electromagnetic leakage, which is faintly emitted from machines, are also released by the inductive coil in a pickup. The sound is then electronically amplified to magnify these signals which are ordinarily so faint as to be inaudible. According to one's position in relation to and distance from the source, changes in the sound can be observed. Awarded Honorary Mention in digital music category at Prix Ars Electronica 2005 (AU) 2005年アルスエレクトロニカ (オーストリア) 受賞作品 ■ Label / レーベル ■ Improvised Music from Japan (IMJ-523) (JP) ☁ Details / 詳細 http://www.japanimprov.com/indies/imj/stereobugscope/index.html
