Mick Oakley's Radio Demos

This is the story of my experience at Montebello ROCKFEST 2017. I met rock stars, rode on a private boat, and moshed with a sea of sweaty french Canadians... needless to say it was a wicked weekend!

This was a very exciting day for everyone involved. It was our first band interview on our Afternoon Drive Show. Amberwood were in another studio recording an interview for our "First Exposure" program. I walked by and heard them playing an acoustic set from the hallway. They sounded great and I asked if they wanted to play a song on air. It was a risky move, because we would have no way to censor anything if they got out of hand on air. We rolled the dice and it was worth it. Myranda and I pulled off our first interview without a hitch. Very exciting stuff!

I made this demo at school for a project. The clips are from our Afternoon Drive show on 88.3 CJIQ.

This was another school project. I had to create a 10 minute (+-30 sec.)feature on someone with a great personality, interesting career/hobby, or interesting story to tell. Craig Fee has all of those and more, and was kind enough to help me out with this assignment. Craig hosts The Craig Fee Show on 107.5 Dave Rocks in Kitchener, and has worked virtually everywhere in Canada. Such a nice guy!

This is a documentary that I completed for a school assignment. Huge thanks to Alan Cross, Angie Hill, Brad Moore, and Carey Nieuwhof for taking the time to share their insights with me. The documentary looks at FM radio in todays society, tries to predict its place in the future. With new technologies and mediums, is traditional FM radio still viable? Lets find out!

These are a few Music features that I created for 88.3 CJIQ FM to promote concerts in the area. All work was done by me.

This was an assignment for my radio production class. I was given the task of telling a story in 6-8 minutes using only field recordings. This was the result of my roommate and I driving to Detroit to see Kanye West in september. We also tried our luck at a casino on our way there. All in all, It was a great day.

This is a scoped version of my first LIVE ON AIR radio show. It was on April 14th 2016 from 6:00pm-8:00pm ON 88.3 CJIQ FM. I just finished my first year at Conestoga College, and this was my final assignment for the year. I am proud of how far I have come this year, and can not wait for the next.

This was a school project, but is also my very first on-air radio show. It was voicetracked ahead of time, but was live on air on March 15, 2016 from 2-4am. There were some audio issues, but overall I am proud of this.

This was a small group project that I completed in my radio Production class. The concept, rough script and edited final version were all completed by me. In the end, it is always a team effort! :)

This was an artist feature that I did for a school assignment. I wrote, recorded and edited the entire track by myself! Im particularly proud of this piece and I am excited to share it with you!

This was a project where we had to come up with a concept for a radio contest, and record it! I had a lot of fun with it and am looking forward to projects like this in the future!
