    026 - The Dark Knight (2008) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, we're continuing with Cody's Birth Month by reviewing The Dark Knight, directed by Christopher NolanSet 9 months after the events of Batman Begins, Batman has done great things in Gotham City. Criminals are now afraid to go out at night in fear of running into the caped crusader, but a new threat now shows up in the form of a man calling himself The Joker. The Joker works with Gotham's mob bosses to get Batman to come out and reveal his true identity to the world. As Bruce Wayne struggles with the threat that Joker poses, he's also looking to Gotham's new District Attorney Harvey Dent to be the face of Gotham's justice system. The Dark Knight came out in 2008, and was a smash hit at the box office, grossing over $1 Billion. The movie was also critically acclaimed, even earning actor Heath Ledger a posthumous Academy Award for Best Actor. But does the movie still stand above all the other superhero films that have come out in the past 18 years? Listen to Cody and Nikki's review to find out.

    025 - 12 Angry Men (1957) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, we're continuing Cody's Birth Month by reviewing 12 Angry Men, directed by Sidney Lumet.An 18 year old boy is on trial for the murder of his father. as the 12 men on the jury go back to deliberate, the verdict seems very clear; the boy is guilty. One of the jurors disagrees, and argues that the evidence presented is not sufficient enough to give a guilty verdict. It is now this one juror against the other 11 men, and as the movie goes on, revelations about the case start to have everyone in the room question what they were so sure about the case.12 Angry Men was released in 1957, and while the movie wasn't a huge success in theaters, the film was met with critical acclaim. It is now considered one of the best films of all time, but do Cody and Nikki share that same opinion? Listen to their review to find out!

    024 - John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, we're continuing on with Cody's Birth Month with his and Nikki's review of The Thing, directed by John Carpenter.It's the first week of winter at U.S. Outpost #31 in Antarctica, when two Norwegian piolets show up hunting down a dog. Before the Americans can figure out what's going on, both Norwegian men are killed. Two of the Americans, MacReady and Dr. Copper, go to the base the Norwegians come from, and find the entire base destroyed and everyone else dead. They find the melted remains of an alien creature and bring it back to their base to study. One night, the dog that the Norwegians were hunting turns out to be a shapeshifting alien creature, and the Americans kill it before it can imitate the other dogs at the base. Paranoia now starts to set in, as each member of the base starts to think that anyone can now be this thing.The Thing came out in 1982, and became a box office bomb. Audiences at the time did not respond well to the movie's grim tone and overuse of gore effects. Over the years, however, the movie has gained a cult following, and is now regarded as one of the best Sci-Fi Horror films ever made. But do Nikki and Cody agree with that sentiment?     023 - A Clockwork Orange (1971) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, we are celebrating Cody's Birth Month by reviewing his Top 5 Favorite Movies of All Time, and we're starting it off with A Clockwork Orange, directed by Stanley Kubrick.Alex is a troubled youth living in a dystopian future. Alex goes around with his fellow Droogs (friends) committing various crimes. During one of their outings, Alex accidentally kills a woman, and his Droogs betray him. Alex is sent to a prison, where he learns of a new and controversial method to reform criminals. Alex signs up and is subjected to a torture method that forces him against his will to behave like a good citizen.A Clockwork Orange is considered to be one of Kubrick's most controversial films, having been banned in several countries over the years. But does the film have a deeper meaning behind the controversy? Listen to Nikki and Cody's review to find out.

    022 - Candyman (1992) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are reviewing Candyman, directed by Bernard Rose.Helen Lyle is working on her thesis on urban legends when she comes across the myth of Candyman, the son of a slave from the 1800s who was murdered over falling in love with a wealthy man. After Helen's findings at Cabrini Green come up with nothing, she stumbles across the real Candyman. Candyman has fallen in love with Helen, and is now using his powers to bring the two of them together, while also ruining Helen's life by framing her for a series of murders.Candyman was released in 1992, and was a commercial and critical success. Even after over 30 years since its release, the film manages to stay relevant in modern times. But what do Nikki and Cody have to say? Listen to their review to find out.

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are ranking every Child's Play film. Child's Play is a long standing horror franchise, spanning from 1988 to 2019. Infamous for introducing Chucky the killer doll, the franchise has had a ton of love over the last 40 years. But do these films stand the test of time?     020 - Five Nights At Freddy's (2023) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies.Today, Nikki, Cody, and special guest Jade are reviewing Five Nights At Freddy's, directed by Emma Tammi.Mike is struggling to keep a job down to help support himself and his little sister Abby. While job recruiting, Mike is offered a job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. Mike's job is to keep an eye on the place and make sure that no one breaks into the place. But, as Mike spends the week at his new job, he learns the animatronic mascots of the pizzeria come to life at night. Mike now has to unravel the mystery behind the animatronics, while also solving the mystery of his kidnapped little brother.Five Nights At Freddy's opened to a very successful box office, but was heavily panned by critics. But what does Nikki, Cody, and Jade have to think of it? Listen to their review to find out.

    019 - Creep (2014) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki, Cody, and special guest host Jade are finishing off Found Footage Month with their review of Creep, directed by Patrick Brice.Aaron is a videographer who has been hired for a job by a man named Josef. Josef is dying of a brain tumor, and wants to leave behind a tape for his unborn child as a memento. Over the course of their day of filming, Aaron slowly comes to realize that Josef isn’t the man he says he is, and that the reasonings behind hiring Aaron have sinister reasons.Creep premiered at the South by Southwest film festival in 2014, and gained a wider release on Netflix in 2015. The film received critical praise at the time, and went on to spawn a sequel and a Shudder Original Series, but does the film hold up over a decade later?     018 - Chronicle (2012) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody continue Found Footage Month with their review of Chronicle, directed by Josh Trank.Andrew is a high school kid living an awful life. His mother is sick with cancer, his father is a drunk and abusive, and his fellow classmates constantly bully him. The only friend Andrew has in life is his cousin Matt, who convinces Andrew to go to a party. At that party, Andrew, Matt, and popular kid Steve find a hole in the middle of the woods that has a giant, glowing crystal-like object. After touching the object, all three of them gain telekinetic powers. As the trio expand their abilities to use these powers, Andrew slowly becomes more isolated and dangerous.Chronicle debuted in theaters in 2012, and became a huge hit at the box office. With its success, it launched Josh Trank’s career, leading him to direct the Fantastic Four remake in 2015. While it was well received at the time, does the movie hold up 14 years later?     017 - Lake Mungo (2008) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody are continuing Found Footage Month with their review of Lake Mungo, directed by Joel Anderson.The Palmer Family have been struck by a terrible tragedy; Alice Palmer has drowned at the age of 16. As the family grieves Alice’s death, strange things start to happen around the Palmer house. Alice’s brother Matt starts to record these events, and captures Alice lingering in the background of these recordings. As the events of the film unfolds, we start to learn more about who Alice was as a person, and things surrounding her life and death aren’t what they seem.Lake Mungo debuted in 2008 in Australia, but didn’t make its way to the U.S. until 2010. The movie flew under the radar for years, before having a resurgence around 2020. The movie has since gained a cult following, and is considered one of the scariest movies ever made, but is that actually the case? Listen to Nikki and Cody’s review to find out.

    016 - Cloverfield (2008) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are kicking off Found Footage month with their review of Cloverfield, directed by Matt Reeves.Rob has found himself a new job in Japan, and his brother Jason decides to throw him a goodbye party. During the party, a massive explosion happens that causes them to leave the building. They soon come to realize that Manhattan is being attacked by a monster. While evacuating the city, Rob gets a call from his ex-girlfriend Beth that she is injured and unable to escape from her apartment. Rob decides to face the dangers going on in his city to find and rescue Beth, while Rob’s friends Lilly, Hud, and Marlene go with him.Cloverfield premiered in 2008, and was a massive success at the box office, kicking off Matt Reece’s career in Hollywood. The movie was supposed to be J.J. Abram’s way of creating an iconic movie monster in the same way Godzilla is to Japan, but did he succeed in doing so. Listen to Nikki and Cody’s review to find out.

    015 - Misery (1990) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody conclude Stephen King Month with their review of Misery, directed by the late Rob Reiner. Writer Paul Sheldon gets into a car wreck while driving home in a snowstorm. Unfortunate for him, he is saved by Annie Wilkes, who is a former nurse and Paul’s Number 1 Fan. As Paul is recovering from his injuries, he slowly discovers that Annie is unhinged, and tortures Paul while under her care. Annie forces Paul to write a new book just for her; a continuation of the Misery book series that Paul is famous for. As Paul is writing this book, he starts to plan on how he can escape from Annie’s care.Premiering in 1990, Misery was a big success at the time, and secured an Oscar win for lead actress Kathy Bates. But does the movie hold up 36 years later? Listen to Nikki and Cody’s review to find out.

    014 - The Langoliers (1995) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody are continuing Stephen King month with their review of The Langoliers, directed by Tom Holland (not the actor).On a red eye flight to Boston, pilot Brian Engle wakes up on an airplane that all but nine other passengers have disappeared. Brian flies the plane to Bangor, Maine and discovers that whatever happened on the plane has happened everywhere else. The airport is deserted of people, and everything around them seems strange and unnatural. Fearing a terrifying noise approaching from the distance, the group must find out what is going on, and how to get back to where they came from. The Langoliers was one of many mini-series based on a Stephen King book released in the 90s following the success of IT. While the mini-series did well when it premiered in 1995, The Langoliers have mostly faded into obscurity over time. Does the series deserve a second chance? Listen to Nikki and Cody to find out.

    013 - IT: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 (2017-2019) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are continuing Stephen King Month with their review of both IT: Chapter 1 and IT: Chapter 2. In the summer of 1989, a group of teenagers are haunted by an evil entity known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Pennywise is responsible for the disappearance of Bill Denbrough’s brother Georgie, and Bill is dead set on finding him. With the help of his friends, the self-named Loser’s Club find Pennywise and put a stop to his murderous rampage. 27 years later, Pennywise returns to wreak havoc on the town of Derry, Maine, and the Loser’s Club once again reunite to take down the evil clown once and for all.Both IT movies were huge financial successes at the times of their release, with IT: Chapter One being the highest grossing horror film of all time. The movies were well loved at the time, but do they still hold up almost a decade later? Listen to Nikki and Cody’s review to find out!

    012 - Stephen King’s IT (1990) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are reviewing Stephen King’s IT, directed by Tommy Lee Wallace. During the summer of 1960, a group of teens encounter an evil entity that goes by the name of Pennywise the Dancing Clown. This entity terrorizes each of the teenagers by taking the form of what they fear the most. These teens join forces to defeat the creature, and they seem to succeed in doing so. 30 years later, Pennywise has returned, and those teenagers, now adults, must go back to their childhood town and try to defeat It once and for all.Stephen King’s IT debuted as a mini-series on ABC in 1990. The series was a huge success, and terrified a whole generation of people for years to come. But does the series hold up 36 years later? Listen to Nikki and Cody to find out.

    011 - Slither (2006) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!This week, Nikki and Cody are reviewing Slither, directed by James Gunn. In a small town in South Carolina, a meteor crashes down, bringing an alien parasite with it. The parasite takes ahold of Grant, and slowly morphs his body into a horrifying slug-like creature. This new creature births thousands of slug-like parasites that start to take over the minds of the townspeople. It’s up to Grant’s wife Starla, Chief Bill Pardy, and Mayor Jack MacReady to put a stop to the invasion.Released in 2006, Slither marked James Gunn’s first directing gig, which would lead him to direct such films as Guardians of the Galaxy and Superman. Although flopping at the box office, the movie went on to become a cult classic, but does the movie hold up 20 years later? Listen to Nikki and Cody to find out.

    010 - Super 8 (2011) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody are reviewing Super 8, directed by J.J. Abrams. In the summer of 1979, a group of teenagers are filming a zombie film, when they witness a pick-up truck run head straight into a train. Their lives get turned upside down when they realize the crash was no random accident, but a ploy to let free an alien being from government containment. As the alien tries to construct a ship to leave Earth, the kids try to find out the government cover up.Super 8 was released in 2011, and managed to become a moderate success at time. The film has since been lost to memory, but does the film deserve a second look? Listen to Nikki and Cody to find out.

Spanning from 1979 to 2024, the Alien franchise has managed to evolve and stay relevant for nearly 50 years. But which of these films stand out to be the best, or the worst? When step-siblings Andy and Piper are orphaned after the death of their father, both children are placed into foster care, with Laura as their new guardian. Laura also fosters a mute child named Oliver. Over the course of a few days, strange things start to happen around both Andy and Piper, all tying into the strange relationship between Laura and Oliver.Bring Her Back has received both financial and critical success, with most critics and audiences calling it one of the scariest horror films of 2025, but what do Nikki and Cody think? At 2:17 in the town of Maybrook, Pennsylvania, a group of 17 children randomly leave their homes and run into the darkness of the night, with no clear explanation as to why they ran or where they ran to. The town’s eyes turn to teacher Justine Gandy, because all the students who disappeared came from her classroom. As events unfold, we learn more about the mystery surrounding the kid’s disappearance.Weapons was a massive hit at the box office, and has received critical acclaim from both audiences and critics.     Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, Nikki and Cody are reviewing Krampus. When Max is forced to spend the holidays with his dysfunctional family, he loses his Christmas spirit and wishes his whole family would go away. Unbeknownst to Max, this wish has summoned The Krampus; an ancient folklore creature that punishes those that lose their Christmas spirit. As the days go on, Max and his family have to survive the onslaught of Krampus and his various minions.Krampus earned a decent amount at the box office when it was released in 2015, but got mixed reviews at the time.     005 - Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 1 & Part 2 (1984-1987) Review

    Welcome back to Midnight Movies!Today, your hosts Nikki and Cody are reviewing Silent Night, Deadly Night Parts 1 and 2. In Silent Night Part 1, Billy is a normal child, when one day his parents are killed by a man dressed as Santa. This experience causes Billy to grow up with a severe phobia of Santa. Paired with a rough upbringing in a Catholic orphanage, Billy eventually goes on a murderous rampage dressed as Santa, an event that effects his little brother Ricky. In Part 2, we follow a grown up Ricky as he recounts his violent past to a psychiatrist. Ricky eventually breaks out his mental facility to seek revenge on the nun who raised him and his brother.Silent Night, Deadly Night was highly controversial at the time, drawing negative backlash towards the premise of a killer Santa. It has gone on to become a cult classic, with its sequel being crowned as one of the best worst films of all time. But do these two films hold up after all this time? The movie was a massive success at the time of its release, and frightened a whole generation of moviegoers for years, but does it hold up 26 years later?
