The Bible in Hebrew: What Gets Lost in Translation? With Dror Ben Ami

What if some of the biblical stories we think we understand have meanings that are very different from what we have been taught?Today, I am joined by Dror Ben Ami, author of The Vineyard and The Final Jubilee, whose work explores metaphors, symbolism, and the language of the Old and New Testaments.Dror studied Comparative Literature in both the United States and Israel and was strongly influenced by the work of scholar and mystic Maurice Nicoll. His approach to biblical interpretation challenges a number of traditional understandings within both Jewish and Christian communities, with a particular focus on the importance of Hebrew and the role of metaphor in understanding ancient texts. In this conversation, we explore why Dror believes the Hebrew language is essential to understanding the Bible, how the New Testament can provide another lens through which to examine the language of the Old Testament, and what can happen when familiar stories are examined through their original linguistic and cultural context. We also discuss some of his unconventional interpretations, including his view of Jesus as a plowman and sower rather than a carpenter, and his understanding of the story of Moses and the rock. Whether you agree with his interpretations or not, the conversation invites us to examine how much of what we believe about ancient texts comes from the original words and how much comes from centuries of interpretation. This is a conversation about language, faith, history, metaphor, interpretation and the possibility that there is more beneath familiar biblical stories than we realize.Explore Dror Ben Amis work and articles: Dror Ben Ami on FacebookRead The Vineyard: The Vineyard on AmazonFollow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, relationships, money, faith, and learning to live more intentionally.

Life Is Messy: Finding Meaning in the Chaos with Houston Pierce

What if the questions we ask are just as important as the answers we are looking for?Today, I am joined by Houston Pierce, host of 1000 Crazy Questions, film critic, movie enthusiast, storyteller, and someone who genuinely enjoys exploring the big questions behind everyday life.Houston has taken a remarkably winding path through life. From studying mechanical engineering to working as a tour guide, university mascot, radio personality, driver, restaurant server, software testing engineer, janitor, construction professional, and wedding DJ, he has collected experiences and stories from almost every direction. Those experiences have shaped the way he sees people, culture, and the world around him. In this conversation, we explore curiosity, storytelling, movies, technology, science, philosophy, spirituality, and the unexpected lessons that can come from simply paying attention to the journey. We also talk about why movies and popular culture can be more than entertainment, how technology and artificial intelligence are changing the questions we ask, and why being willing to explore an idea can sometimes be more valuable than having an immediate answer.Houston brings a lighthearted but thoughtful perspective to the conversation, moving easily from nerd culture and pop culture to deeper questions about faith, meaning, human nature, and the unpredictable paths our lives can take.Because sometimes life does not follow the plan we started with. Sometimes the unexpected jobs, people, failures, and detours become the experiences that teach us the most.Listen to 1000 Crazy Questions and explore more from Houston Pierce: 1000 Crazy QuestionsInstagram https://instagram.com/1000crazyquestionsYouTube https://www.youtube.com/@Houston_PierceFollow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, relationships, money, and learning to live more intentionally.

The Reality of Autistic Adulthood: What Nobody Teaches You with April Ratchford

What happens when you grow up in a world that was not designed with the way your brain works in mind?Today, I am joined by April Ratchford, an autistic occupational therapist, writer, global podcaster, and host of Adulting with Autism. With more than 2.7 million lifetime podcast downloads, April has built a platform around helping autistic and neurodivergent adults navigate the parts of adulthood that are often overlooked or poorly understood. In this conversation, we talk about what autistic adulthood can actually look like beyond the stereotypes and assumptions. We explore identity, independence, masking, workplace burnout, mental health, emotional regulation, and the challenge of navigating systems such as healthcare, education, and employment.April also brings together two perspectives that do not always appear in the same conversation: her lived experience as an autistic adult and her professional background in occupational therapy. We discuss why being able to function on the outside does not necessarily mean someone is thriving, how masking can affect everyday life, and why practical support matters just as much as awareness. We also explore what it means to advocate for yourself, build independence, and create a life that works for you rather than constantly trying to fit yourself into expectations that were never designed for you.Whether you are autistic, recently diagnosed, supporting someone who is neurodivergent, or simply trying to understand autistic adulthood more deeply, this conversation offers an honest look at the realities that often go unseen.Connect with April Ratchford, explore Adulting with Autism, and find her current resources and platforms: April Ratchford and Adulting with AutismLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/april-ratchford-780283273/Instagram https://www.instagram.com/adulting_autism/Follow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, relationships, money, and learning to live more intentionally.

Why More Money Does not Always Create Safety, Fulfillment or Relief with Dr. Siobhán Ewert

Why Your Effort Is Not Producing the Results You WantHave you ever worked incredibly hard toward something and still wondered why the results do not match the effort you are putting in?Or maybe you achieved exactly what you were working toward, only to find that the sense of relief you expected never really came. Our guest today is Dr. Siobhán Ewert, she is a physician-scientist and creator of Money & Business Mapping. Her work looks beneath visible money and business patterns to understand the hidden conflicts and stressors that can influence decisions, behavior, and execution. We explore why intelligent and capable people can work relentlessly without getting the results they expect, how our own actions can sometimes move us away from what we consciously want, and why certain financial pressures can remain even when the numbers do not completely explain them.We also talk about the other side of the equation: what happens when success finally arrives but still does not feel like enough. Why can achieving the goal fail to create the feeling of arrival we thought it would bring?Siobhán shares how mapping these patterns can make something that once seemed confusing or irrational become much easier to understand. We also look at why the same business strategy can produce completely different outcomes for different people and what can change when the underlying pattern becomes visible. This is a conversation about money, business, decision making, self-sabotage, success, and the hidden patterns that can influence how we work toward the lives we say we want.Continue the conversation and explore Siobhán Ewerts work through her newsletter: Siobhán Ewerts NewsletterLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-siobhan-ewert/Website https://siobhanewert.com/Please don’t forget to follow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, relationships, money, and learning to live more intentionally.

You Are Not Under-Training. You Are Under-Recovering with Dr. Steve McGough

What if the reason you are struggling to recover has less to do with your muscles and more to do with your nervous system?Today, I am joined by Dr. Steve McGough, cofounder of Women and Couples Wellness, inventor of the hi® massage system, and a researcher and educator with a background in nutritional biochemistry, neuroscience, and clinical sexology. For more than sixteen years, Steve has worked with women and couples around nervous system regulation, pelvic floor health, intimacy, fertility, and recovery. In this conversation, we explore why people can exercise, sleep, eat well, and do everything they believe they should be doing, yet still feel like their bodies never fully recover.Steve explains the connection between chronic stress and recovery, why understanding stress does not always mean the body has actually released it, and where Eastern practices such as QiGong genuinely overlap with Western neuroscience. We also get into something many people struggle to talk about: what prolonged stress can do to relationships. Steve shares lessons from more than twenty five years of marriage, building companies with his wife Wendy, and navigating profound grief and serious illness together.Behind all of this is a deeply personal story. After Wendy experienced a life threatening infection during pregnancy and faced years of difficult recovery, Steve began working on the device that would eventually become hi®. That experience ultimately changed the direction of his life and led him away from an eight figure software company toward an invention that became central to his work. This is a conversation about recovery, stress, the body, relationships, innovation, and what happens when personal experience pushes you to find an answer that does not yet exist.Learn more about Steve McGough and his work: Steve McGough and hi® Massage SystemLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/steve-mcgough-dhs-0480591/Follow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, relationships, money, and learning to live more intentionally.

You’re Getting Attention, So Why Aren’t Clients Calling? The Gap Between Visibility and Growth

What happens after someone discovers you, likes what you do, and then…doesn’t contact you?In this episode of Mind, Money & Medicine, Favour speaks with Robbie Mould, Managing Director of Mativus and creator of the Interest-to-Client Framework, about a problem many established coaches face: getting attention isn’t necessarily the same as getting the right client conversations.Robbie works with experienced coaches, particularly ICF-accredited coaches, who may already be active on LinkedIn, appearing on podcasts, speaking at events, writing books, networking, and building strong reputations, but are not always seeing that visibility translate into the clients they want.We explore what happens in the space between someone first becoming interested in a coach and eventually deciding they are ready to have a conversation. Robbie explains why that journey matters, why asking someone to immediately book a discovery call can be too big a step, and how coaches can create a clearer path from curiosity to trust to action. The conversation also challenges some common marketing advice. Do coaches really need more leads? Is posting more content always the answer? And how can someone market their business effectively without becoming overly sales-focused or feeling like they’re being someone they are not?Robbie also shares his perspective on websites, content, LinkedIn, podcasts, and the growing role of AI search, as more people turn to tools like ChatGPT to discover experts and answers.Whether you’re a coach trying to grow an established practice or simply interested in how people make decisions before becoming customers, this conversation offers a practical look at what happens between being discovered and being chosen.Connect with Robbie Mould & Mativus🌐 MativusLinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/robertmould/Stay Connected with Mind, Money & MedicineFollow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more conversations about personal growth, health, career, money, relationships, business, and learning to live more intentionally.

When Your Family History Isn’t What You Thought: Cross-Examining Your History with Steve Jensen

What would you do if you discovered that someone you admired in your family history had participated in slavery and racial violence? In this episode of Mind, Money & Medicine, Favour speaks with Steve Jensen, a former trial attorney and author of Healing White History, who turned the skills he spent decades using in courtrooms toward a deeply personal investigation of his own family history.Steve discovered that his third-great-grandfather, Charles Arden Russell, was not simply the accomplished lawyer, surveyor, county judge, and family figure he had once admired. His research uncovered Russell’s involvement in slavery and the Knights of the Golden Circle, along with records connecting him to efforts to suppress Black political power and opposition to abolition.Rather than simply documenting what he found, Steve took a different approach. Drawing on years of research into family records, historical documents, speeches, letters, and other sources, he began writing imagined conversations with his ancestors—questioning them about their actions and the beliefs they used to justify them.We talk about what it means to confront uncomfortable parts of your family history, how families can preserve both love and harmful legacies, and why Steve believes understanding history becomes different when you can put names, dates, and personal stories to it.Steve also shares how his work on racial equity, his son’s marriage to a Black woman, and becoming a grandfather to three Black children changed the way he understood his family’s history—and his own responsibility toward it.This conversation isn’t about inherited guilt. It’s about looking honestly at where we come from, understanding how the past can shape the present, and deciding what we want to carry forward.Explore Steve Jensen’s Work📖 Healing White History on Substack: Healing White HistorySteve’s Substack includes his work on confronting family history and his framework for helping others begin examining their own.Stay Connected with Mind, Money & MedicineFollow Mind, Money & Medicine on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and subscribe on YouTube for more thoughtful conversations about identity, personal growth, relationships, health, career, history, and the experiences that shape who we become.

Embracing Imperfection: Creativity, Grief and Growth with Holly Gutwillinger

Creativity does not have to be perfect, and it is never too late to start. In this conversation, Favour and Holly B. Gutwillinger unpack how rescue dogs, grief, motherhood, and self-doubt can shape a more meaningful creative life - and why your most important work may begin the moment you stop waiting to feel ready.Holly shares the surprising origin of her debut novel, ‘North of Broken & Furever Home’, a story inspired by her senior rescue dogs and the moment she realized they were trying to teach her acceptance, patience, and healing. What began as a private reflection turned into fiction rooted in real emotion, with dogs, family, and second chances at its center. You'll hear Holly break down:- how writing from the heart unlocked her voice after just four years as a writer- what rescue animals reveal about patience, resilience, and unconditional love- why messy, imperfect stories create deeper connection than polished ones- how she manages creativity, self-doubt, and organized chaos in daily life- what motherhood taught her about presence, growth, and letting goFavour also explores the bigger question behind Holly's work - why people crave stories that reflect real pain, real joy, and real recovery. Holly's answer is both simple and powerful: we want to feel seen, and creative expression helps us do that. They also dig into Holly's podcast, ‘Ramblings from the Little Shed’, where she talks with guests about how animals influence creativity and daily life. That conversation opens up a bigger idea, too - creativity is not just for artists. It lives in the way you decorate a room, plate a meal, pick up a pen, or make time to try something new.If you've been putting off a creative dream because you feel unsure, unqualified, or not ready, this episode is for you. Understanding Destiny, Obedience, and Spiritual Patterns with Prophet Afolabi

What if the reason you keep hitting the same wall is not a lack of effort, but a misunderstanding of destiny, obedience, and spiritual timing? Prophet Afolabi Aduroja says many people are fighting battles they cannot solve with hard work alone - because the real issue is deeper than what they can see.Dr. Favour sits down with Prophet Afolabi Aduroja, a Christian minister and author whose ministry focuses on what he believes are the spiritual roots behind recurring patterns in health, relationships, purpose, and personal growth. He shares the personal experience that shaped his calling, the moment he says he realized he was being led into prophetic ministry, and the stories that convinced him this work was real. You’ll discover:- Why he believes a "carnal mind cannot understand the language of the spirit"- His view of destiny, bloodlines, and why some struggles repeat across families- How he distinguishes God’s voice from fear, ego, and personal desire- What obedience really means when life still feels unfair- Why he says jealousy, pride, greed, and unforgiveness can block spiritual progressProphet Afolabi also shares striking testimonies from his ministry, including a woman who conceived after years of infertility and a man who walked again after being brought to him in desperation. He frames these moments as evidence that faith, discernment, and surrender can change outcomes that seem fixed. This conversation challenges the idea that every delay is punishment or that every hardship is random. Instead, it asks a harder question: what if the answer to breakthrough is not more pressure, but deeper alignment?Essential listening if you’re wrestling with repeated setbacks, searching for clarity in prayer, or trying to understand why obedience sometimes feels harder than sacrifice.Featured guest:Prophet Afolabi Aduroja is a Christian minister, author, and prophetic voice whose ministry centers on spiritual discernment, healing, and uncovering patterns he believes shape people’s lives.Connect with him via his website http://www.windofchangeministry.com/YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@windofchange5029Facebook https://www.facebook.com/aduroja.afolabi/followers

From Heart Failure to a Second Chance at Life with Gaylen Wilson

A heart transplant saved Gaylen Wilson's life, but the bigger miracle is what he and his wife Heather built after it: a relationship system that turns conflict into connection and keeps love from slipping into silence. If you have ever felt your marriage drift, watched desire disappear, or wondered why the same fight keeps happening no matter how hard you try, this conversation will hit home. Dr. Favour sits down with Gaylen to unpack the life-or-death story behind his second chance, plus the relationship framework he calls the Monument Method. You will discover how a misdiagnosed illness spiraled into end-stage heart failure, why Gaylen was told he had only months to live, and how a call for a matching heart arrived just 30 minutes after he said goodbye to the future he thought he had.
