    The Obamas Stay Classy

Trump's ill-advised, badly executed Iran War is ending just as disastrously as it began. He's determined to block a Blue Wave election by cheating in every way imaginable. The grifting and corruption of his regime and its billionaire supporters is on an astronomical scale. And along came Michelle and Barack Obama to remind us all of what this nation once was - and can become again. MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about this week's dire political news, but also the joy and love and determination displayed at the opening celebration of the Obama Center.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Don't Forget the Epstein Files

On Tuesday, we learned just how much the Administration tried to keep that information under wraps, especially as it related to Donald Trump. (The URL above is a gift link, in case any of you still have not been able to read the whole thing).MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also discuss that monstrosity on the White House south lawn, midterm elections and trumped-up allegations of cheating in California, the new nominee for DNI and Hunter Biden’s masterclass in dealing with online trolls.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Bye Bye Billion Dollar Ballroom

MOMocrats Aliza and Karoli went at it alone this week while Donna cavorted in Paris on her birthday.  From the ballroom to the newly announced $1.776 Billion-with-a-B slush fund, it seems like this administration just tosses so many balls in the air it's impossible to catch them. But keep your eyes on the prize and stay alert, because we are actually winning some of these battles and November will be the Great Showdown. Aliza and Karoli called out leadership and called on leadership. Let's show people what it means to be American in these midterms.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Superpower Suicide Watch

Donald Trump brought along a whole slew of oligarchs (and his grifting family) for his meeting with Xi Jinping in China this week. He says he made “fantastic trade deals.” (For whom, we wonder.) But the Strait of Hormuz is still closed with no end in sight to Trump’s Iran debacle - and inflation continues to spike. The Chinese understand that we are a global superpower in decline. Tim Snyder coined an excellent description of what electing Trump a second time has turned out to be: Superpower Suicide. And our demise continues, every single day.People are understandably angry about the actions of a regime that are making us all worse off. Democrats have a lot of tools they can use to slow it down, make it end, and begin to reverse the decline. But MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills point out that it calls for bold leadership - from both the grassroots and the people we elect. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

That Ballroom is Gonna Cost WHAT?!

On Monday, the United States launched “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday, it was all over. We’re not any closer to ending Donald Trump’s foolhardy war against Iran. But the S&P 500 is up 11% since the bombs started dropping, and that’s really what it’s all about, right? This week MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also discuss the new price tag for the war, the new price tag for Trump’s ballroom, the Callais decision, redistricting, and the sheer racism underpinning it all and this week's 2026 election results.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    May Day! May Day!

The regime got a huge boost this week from the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in Callais v Landry, which put the final nail in the coffin of the Voting Rights Act. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also discuss the Democrats’ win over DHS funding, King Charles' visit, Pete Hegseth’s testimony to Congress, the White House Correspondence Dinner, Trump’s obsession with putting his name and face on everything - and the May 1 economic action (No Work, No School, No Shopping).Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    We Gotta "Budapest" This Election

Hungary's election on Sunday was a political earthquake felt around the world.“Everybody should really pay attention to this because it’s huge,” Karoli says in this week’s podcast. “But also it is a lesson in how one disgruntled guy who used to be a member of the party that Orban was in, decided to start his own party and go all over the country and to all the farmhouses and all the rural areas and everything else and just get people lit up. He got them protesting in the streets. I mean, it wasn’t just him, but he organized, right? And he got them to the people that were in the streets and the people that were voting in the rural areas. And he literally everywhere, basically, Orban lost, right? Like it was an undisputable loss.” Some of the other topics covered by MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills this week:The blockade of the blockade (of the blockade?) in the Strait of HormuzEric Swalwell and the California Governor’s RaceThe Department of Justice’s decision to try to erase the seditious conspiracy convictions of some January 6 organizersThat weird White House DoorDash stuntFollow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    He Must Be Removed

MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills all needed to talk out their feelings of fear, disgust, and absolute rage over Donald Trump’s and Pete Hegseth’s war crimes (and yes, a credible threat to commit genocide - as the ones Trump issued this week - is a violation of both US and international law). There are things we can do. And - aside from the threat of Armageddon - there are bright spots among the clouds. The MOMocrats talked about those, too.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

The DOJ Loses Its Very Own Regina George

The occasion of Pam Bondi's firing gave MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills the fodder for a discussion that was a little more light-hearted than usual - even though they are bracing themselves for a replacement at DOJ who will be even worse (because after 10 years of this nightmare, they know that is how the Trump administration rolls). Also on this week's agenda: Trump's Wednesday night address to the nation, the Supreme Court's birthright citizenship case, the blatantly unconstitutional executive order that would allow DHS to pick and choose who gets to vote, and the Artemis II launch.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Who Benefits From This War? It Ain't Us.

Trump’s poll numbers are plummeting further as his war of choice in Iran supercharges oil prices into the stratosphere. The global economy will soon be suffering from higher food prices, scarcer pharmaceuticals, and more expensive manufactured products like semi-conductors.And yet, there are some who are winning in this scenario: The mysterious traders who seem to know exactly when a Trump announcement is going to make the markets riseMohammed bin Salman, who is apparently whispering in Trump’s ear to stay the courseBibi Netanyahu, who surely believes the war will boost his standing with Israeli voters (which may backfire on him)And Iran, which now finds itself able to sell its own oil on the world market because Trump lifted sanctions in an attempt to tamp down those oil prices. While we are bombing them. Oh, and Russia too.You really can’t make this stuff up.MOMocrats Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills also talked about the SAVE Act, ICE in the airports, how the Senate Democrats are holding fast against funding Homeland Security, and the latest news from the House about the Epstein files.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

He Was Unfit Then. And He's Unfit Now.

MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about Trump's war in Iran, and his absolute unfitness for office (the war will be over when he feels it in his bones???). They talked about the MAGA split over the war, and counterterrorism chief Joe Kent’s resignation. There was a lot of activity in the Senate on Wednesday, and so the trio had quite a bit to say about Rand Paul’s face-off with DHS nominee Markwayne Mullin. During a hearing on Worldwide Threats, Tulsi Gabbard said it’s not her job to analyze the intelligence for the president (she is the Director of National Intelligence and that is exactly what her job is supposed to be!)And of course, they discuss  the SAVE Act, which is the Trumpists’ “Great White Hope” for suppressing enough of the vote to stave off a big blue tsunami in November. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    War is Hell.

Note that the MOMocrats dropped this week's first F-bomb in the intro to this week's podcast. That's just how frustrated Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills are feeling with Donald Trump's burgeoning Middle East quagmire - which he started without a purpose, a goal, or any kind of exit plan.As for the Democrats in Congress: they are mostly holding fast on refusing any new funds for the Department of Homeland Security. This fight has been at a standstill for weeks, and the MOMocrats agree that this is exactly the kind of leverage the minority party should be using. But will they also be willing to hold up funding for this war, too? What about the nomination of Markwayne Mullin to succeed Kristi Noem at DHS? Or the SAVE Act, a voter suppression scheme that Trump wants enacted so he can steal some more elections? Right now, it does. not appear that it can get even all the Republicans on board to pass it - but the mere fact of its existence is upsetting. There was good news this week on the electoral front as Democratic candidates continue to perform well. And some under-the-radar developments over the Epstein files. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Good and Cooked

So now the United States is at war with Iran, for reasons (which keep on changing). A war that seems to have been slapped together at the last minute, because there appears to have been no coordination with DHS (which is still focused on waging war here on our own people) or the State Department (which got gutted by DOGE last year). A war that is spilling out into the entire region, raising Trump’s precious gas prices, and shocking the Dow back below 50,000 (NOW will Pam Bondi acknowledge those Epstein victims?)Oh, and those expert FBI counterterrorism teams with years of expertise on dealing with blowback from our Middle East adventurism? They’ve either been reassigned to work with ICE - or fired by Kash Patel for being good at their jobs. If we are indeed frogs being slowly boiled, surely we’ve reached the moment where we’re good and cooked? We also managed to touch upon Kristi Noem’s performance before Congress this week, and Tuesday’s primaries (especially the big one in Texas). Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    We're ALL a Little ADHD

It feels to the MOMocrats as if the news cycle itself has been weaponized against us. Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills were prepared this week to talk about DHS/ICE funding, more Epstein bombshells, Pam Bondi's appearance before the House Judiciary Committee, tariffs, voting rights, and the economy. Any ONE of those topics would deserve an hour of discussion. This week's podcast touched on most of them. The MOMocrats want to point out that they misidentified someone: The Boris Nikolic who died in his 30's was a fashion designer and is NOT in the Epstein files. The Boris Nikolic who was an associate of Bill Gates is very much alive. We regret the error.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

The State of Things is Chaos

The Trump administration is like an arsonist in a 100-mph Santa Ana wind, starting fires and spreading them in every direction. This makes focusing on any one disaster for more than a day very difficult - which is, of course, the point. This week, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills try to get a handle on CE and CPB, and would they be coming for Haitians in Springfield, and DHS funding, and the SAVE Act, and threats to the 2026 election, and Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, and the Epstein Files (which turns out to be the only story that has the staying power to hold everyone’s attention for more than a few days). They also had some nice words for Bad Bunny's triumph at the Grammys and his upcoming Super Bowl half-time show (does anyone think he'll lose a significant amount of viewers to that thing TPUSA is holding with Kid Rock?)Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Have We Reached a Tipping Point?

The last time Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills chatted, they criticized the seven House Democrats who helped pass the budget bill (when we should have held out for concessions that would claw back ICE funding). That was one week ago. It feels like a month. The MOMocrats spent the hour talking about ICE’s execution of Alex Pretti, the heroism of Minneapolis, and how it is shaping the Senate’s budget negotiations. Not to mention the “eeeew” moment when someone brought up the gruesome twosome of Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Madness in Davos, Lawlessness in Minneapolis

Dear Leader pulled a TACO in Davos, putting an end to speculation over the US invading Greenland - at least, for now. And Karoli today introduced us all to her daughter’s adorable dog, Tako - who isn’t scary at all.Trump’s speech before world leaders yesterday was bonkers - even for him. And as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made clear this weekend, the predictable Western world order that centered US power (and benefited American peace and prosperity) is now over. Other topics this week include:Brendan Carr’s new imposition of equal time rules for politicians booked on late night and daytime talk shows (which sounds a little like the old Fairness Doctrine, if one did not suspect that it would be enforced less than equally)ICE’s continuing siege of Minneapolis (and now Maine) - and how each time they hit another region, their tactics become even more fascist (i.e., claiming they have the right to enter any home without a judicial warrant - in blatant violation of our Fourth Amendment rights)Jack Smith’s testimony today before the House Judiciary Committee.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Cosplaying Would-Be Revolutionaries

The MOMocrats are still angry over what happened to Renee Good and the occupation of Minneapolis. And Gilmar Abrego Garcia. And every US resident who was sent to CECOT. And Venezuela. And no healthcare subsidies… Inflation… threats to Greenland… kowtowing to Putin… the Pentagon committing war crimes… Election denial and maneuvers to rig the next one. And the administration’s cover-up of 99% of what’s in the Epstein files. And that’s not all.The truth is, Aliza, Karoli, and Donna are overwhelmed with reasons to be angry. (And would have expressed even more of it had they known at the time that the Senate Republicans caved on passing the War Powers resolution over Venezuela.)Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Murder in Minnesota

The vampires behind Project 2025 kept on going during the holidays: releasing Jack Smith’s testimony on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve, “finding” at least one million more Epstein documents (that they have not released), and kidnapping arresting the leader of Venezuela.MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills already planned to have their first live chat of the year today, and the show notes already ran about eight pages. But then an ICE officer in Minneapolis killed an unarmed American in her vehicle. So 2026 is starting out as an acceleration of all the crazy of 2025 (which was an acceleration of what was endured during Trump 1.0). Other topics on today’s chat included the fifth anniversary of January 6 and one year since the LA fires, Tim Walz’s decision to drop out of the Minnesota governor’s race (and subsequent freedom to speak his mind), and whether Democrats in Congress are up to the job of fighting this regime.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    MOMocrats Make Merry

This week, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills mourned the loss of actor/filmmaker/activist Rob Reiner and his wife, Michelle. The circumstances of their deaths - and the reaction of our narcissist-in-chief - are still shocking. Speaking of Trump, it was an easy segue to whatever-the-eff that address of his was last night. The MOMocrats also talked about the discharge petition on healthcare that got passed in the House yesterday (and what happens after they get to vote on it in January), Jack Smith’s closed door testimony before the Judiciary Committee… …and what they want for Christmas this year. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Darkest Before the Dawn

The news this week was DARK. But points of light remain. Just before the MOMocrats went live on Wednesday, we learned that the United States had seized a Venezuelan oil tanker, which - as Karoli points out - is either piracy… or an act of war.Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also discussed  last week’s National Security Statement (that reads like a Stephen Miller/Vladimir Putin fever dream), the Supreme Court’s apparent willingness to dismantle the Federal government and (maybe?) toppling the protections of the Fourteenth Amendment. As for the points of light: You just have to look at yesterday’s special election results in Florida and Georgia where Democrats continued to outperform expectations. Dawn may be imminent, after all.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    The Fog of War Crimes

MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the extrajudicial killings of people on boats in the Caribbean and the new details make it very clear that the US -under the leadership of Trump and Hegseth - is committing war crimes. Is this what prompted those Democratic lawmakers to make that “Don’t Give Up the Ship” video? The bipartisan disgust at this story is just the latest thorn in the side of the Trump administration, as the economy falters, inflation rises, and their approval ratings plummet… while Democrats continue to overperform in special elections - even in the reddest of districts. The MOMocrats also talked about Aftyn Behn’s over-performance in TN-17 (and her defiant NOT A CONCESSION speech), Trump’s under-performance at another one of those Dear Leader Cabinet meetings yesterday (i.e., he kept falling asleep!), and what is motivating all those billionaires.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Lame Duck Hunting Season

Karoli, Aliza, and Donna talked about yesterday’s stunning passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act - and the very bad, terrible, no good week experienced by the President. Also on today’s agenda were the agony of buying healthcare insurance without expanded subsidies, “the affordability,” Lindsey Halligan’s absolute bungling of the Comey indictment, and more.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

What a Year This Week Has Been

Last week's post election celebration is a faded memory. Among the MOMocrats topics today were the end of the shutdown, the future of ACA subsidies, those Epstein files released this morning… and that awful Ross Douthat piece in the NYT and Vanity Fair response. And we learned a new word for those new maps in Texas: Dummymandering. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    The New Blacklist Era

It was a dire week (which is something the MOMocrats have been saying a lot). Donna, Karoli, and Aliza talked about the fallout from the murder of Charlie Kirk (and Jimmy Kimmel is just the latest high profile victim of the new McCarthyism). They also touched upon the regime’s attack on the University of California and crazy $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times, the raucous welcome the President received when he arrived in the UK last night, and how Congressional Democrats have performed this week in hearings with Kash Patel and former CDC head Susan Monarez. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

  27. 446

    It's the Guns. Again.

The MOMocrats prepared a long list of political news to talk about today, which did not include any mention of Charlie Kirk. But once again, everything changed in an instant, thanks to a person with a firearm - and the discussion on gun violence in the US continues.Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also touched upon the Epstein birthday book and the New York Times expose on his business relationship with JP Morgan, that terrible SCOTUS ruling that allows ICE to ignore the 4th Amendment in Los Angeles, Trump's problems dining out in public, and upcoming protests. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Shut It Down

If we were living through normal times, the month of August would have been relatively quiet. Instead, we got ICE raids and economic jolts, amid National Guard deployments to American cities and mid-cycle gerrymandering. Not to mention the Epstein saga. And now that Congress is back in session, the chaos is about to go into high gear.Right now, everyone's eyes are on the saga of the Epstein files (for very good reasons). But Congress has a looming deadline of September 30 to fund the government, and that sparked a lively discussion on Democratic strategy between MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Happy Labor Day. Now, Get Back to Work.

The MOMocrats ask: Has there ever been a summer that's gone by so quickly? (And now that it's ending, does that mean that the pace of crazy is just going to accelerate FASTER?)Among the topics covered by Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills this week are: the latest mass school shooting in Minnesota (which literally occurred while the victims were attending mass), the current chaos at the CDC, the upcoming budget battle, , as well as Labor Day demonstration opportunities. They also offer congratulations to new Iowa State Senator Catelin Drey and newly engaged Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

The Ministry of Truth Has Entered the Room

The regime has sent the military into the nation's capital, proving that this summer's occupation of Los Angeles was only a dress rehearsal for the regime's plans to invade other American cities (in Blue states). But even more disheartening has been the acceleration of Project 2025's efforts to erase our history and change our culture: a new head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics who doesn't seem to understand statistics... an overhaul of all the exhibits at the Smithsonian, to ensure that they reflect the President's "interpretation of history"... and a 4th of July cage match on the White House lawn. Thank goodness for the Texas Democrats whose visible fight against the regime's quest to rig the next election has spread to the Blue states... and California Governor Gavin Newsom's epic trolling of Dear Leader - who MOMocrat Aliza Worthington points out is very, very weak (for myriad reasons besides what's likely in the Epstein files). Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills join in. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Who's Gonna Stop Him?

This week, Trump ordered a new census based on 2024 numbers - and excluding non-citizens.“Why is it that newspapers cannot say it’s unconstitutional?,: grouses MOMocrat Karoli. And when she pointed out on social media that this latest EO was unconstitutional, someone came back at her with “Who’s going to stop him?”Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about why this kind of fatalistic thinking needs to stop - and in the course of that discussion, they cover how Democrats are fighting the Texas gerrymander,  GOP stonewalling on Epstein, tariffs, ill-advised additions to the White House, and the rest of the spaghetti getting thrown to the wall so we might not notice how unpopular this regime is.Just don't ever ask us "Who's gonna stop him?"Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

  32. 441

The Epstein Questions Keep On Coming

Will Trump pardon convicted child abuser and known perjurer Ghislaine Maxwell in return for her “exonerating” him? Where’s the missing footage from that “raw” recording Bondi released? And will the Wall Street Journal continue to release bombshells from the Epstein files, which Trump claims would be devastating to Democrats? ( but if that was true, he would have released them without hesitation).MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills welcomed back Aliza Worthington this week to talk about the latest Epstein developments, as well as the newest judge on the Court of Appeals, the outrageous new Texas gerrymander (and how blue states like New York and Illinois will respond), the Big Ugly Bill's backdoor ploy to privatize Social Security, and Kamala's announcement she will not run for California governor. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

  33. 440

    Epsteinpalooza

TThe regime is flailing in its attempts to keep Donald Trump's real history with Jeffrey Epstein - and MOMocrats are all in. Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills also talked about that Hunter Biden interview, that brutal South Park episode (on the heels of the Skydance-Paramount merger), and how the Supreme Court continues to allow Trump to usurp the powers of the other two branches. But the talk kept coming back to Epstein, what the DOJ might be cooking up with his convicted accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, and how recessing the House for the next six weeks isn't likely to make it stop. Can the crack this has put in the GOP's MAGA/QAnon base benefit Democratic prospects in 2026? At the moment - with their approval ratings in the toilet - that looks likely."My message to Democrats is, if you get back in power, if you have the trifecta, you damned well better expand the Court," says Karoli.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

  34. 439

    Pass the Popcorn

We're not gonna lie: The last six months have been grim, and the regime’s rapid theft and consolidation of power from the other branches of government continues apace. We did not like waking up to the news that the Senate passed the rescission package (giving Trump legal authority to defund $8 billion in previously appropriated funds for foreign aid - and public broadcasting). So yes: MOMocrats Karoli and Donna Schwartz Mills are eager to sit back and enjoy watching Trump lose control of the narrative over Jeffrey Epstein. And for once, we agree with MAGA: release the client list, and if there’s a case to prosecute some sexual predators, let ‘er rip - no matter who. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Tragedy and Travesty

One week after the floods that killed over 100 people in Texas, the tragedy in ongoing. People are wondering how much DOGE’s cuts to the National Weather Service and NOAA factored into it. Journalist Marisa Kabas has reported that as of Monday, only 86 FEMA employees were on the ground in Texas (they usually deploy hundreds of people to disaster zones like this). In the meantime, $450 million from FEMA’s budget has been allocated to that concentration camp in the swamps of Florida. And Trump’s big, ugly budget bill allocates billions to expand ICE and build more “detention centers” throughout the country. ICE continues to terrorize immigrant communities, kidnapping law-abiding parents, gardeners, day laborers, and others who just happen to have brown skin (including US citizens). MOMocrats Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss in this week’s podcast.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Saturday Night War Porn

Saturday night was interrupted by the Trump regime announcing that the United States had answered Israel's pleas by sending American pilots to drop 14 "bunker buster" bombs on Iranian targets. If you're getting flashbacks of Iraq in 2003, you're not alone. After all, this is yet another unconstitutional, undeclared war based on - as independent journalist Judd Legum puts it - "manipulated events." And the legacy media is lapping it up. Karoli calls it "war porn," and that's pretty much all we're getting from cable news - while troops are still stationed in Los Angeles, DHS is sending armies of masked secret police around the country to abduct and imprison hard-working, tax-paying residents for the crime of being brown, we're still under threat of losing Medicaid, SNAP, and any semblance of a strong economy... and Trump is setting up one of his most craven cronies to be in line for a nomination to the Supreme Court. It's a lot. SCOTUS Delivers Another Turd of a Decision

Amid the military occupation of the nation's second largest city (and threats to take over others), the jubilation of the largest US protests since the civil rights era, a flop of a parade in DC, ICE goons wreaking havoc throughout the country, bogus arrests of Democratic lawmakers, the political assassination of a respected lawmaker in Minnesota, and the threat of causing World War III......it's easy to forget that this is the time of year when the "conservatives" on the Supreme Court decide to make American lives even worse. And that's exactly what they did yesterday with their ruling in United States vs. Skrmetti, upholding Tennessee's law that denies gender-affirming care for minors (hey, this is NOT just gonna harm trans kids, although that seems to be the point.) MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills have a few things to say about that and much of the other turmoil this week. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    LA Don't Play

In violation of Federal law and without justification, Trump has ordered Federal troops into Los Angeles... to quell a conflict that was started by HIS OWN Department of Homeland Security. And it gets worse by the minute. At Kristi Noem's press conference today, her goons forcibly removed and handcuffed a sitting US Senator who merely wanted to ask her a couple of questions. And the Republicans are blaming Senator Padilla for the incident. .MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about the attempted fascist takeover of the nation's second largest city. We're All Gonna Die

Every week since the start of Trump 2.0 has been dreadful - but MOMocrats Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills found this one to be truly bonkers. In fact, there were SO many issues that begged discussion that this week's podcast could easily go three times its usual hour period. So Donna and Aliza decided to try and have a little fun with it: They assigned numbers to the top 10 and brought out the old spinner wheel to pick the ones they would talk about this week. So they covered Gun Prevention Month AND Pride Month (and the way the regime chooses to "honor" those), our new surveillance state, and how we just learned from Senator Joni Ernst that we're all gonna die.Along the way, they also discussed the terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, the regime's dangerous choice of people to pardon, and Pete Hegseth's crusade to make the military white and male. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    TACO Thursday

"Trump has a new nickname," laughed Karoli during this week's podcast. "And it’s disgraceful to tacos, but it’s TACO, which is “Trump Always Chickens Out.” So it’s TACO - all caps - do not do lower case. Because that’s good stuff. Good tacos."The ruling from the U.S. Court of International Trade on the illegality of the tariffs came down while the MOMocrats were recording this episode, so Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills did NOT address Trump's latest very "yuge" legal defeat. They still had much to talk about, simply focusing on the way this president in his second term is brazenly enriching himself while supposedly serving the American people. ("It's the corruption, stupid.")As Aliza points out, "We just skipped right over the fact that he’s president and still operating a business. We skipped right over that! Like, is that a norm now? Like, we just accept that - with Trump - the thing that no other president has ever done, and the thing that we’ve demanded of every single other president, which is to divest yourself of your personal business holdings  - we just skipped right over that, and we don’t make Trump do that."Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Trumped Up: A MOMocrats Interview with Spike Dolomite

Spike Dolomite is an artist, an advocate, and a fierce and funny writer. We’ve known her since the Obama years, when she was a contributor to the MOMocrats 1.0 group blog. And when she told us she had written a book, we knew we wanted to interview her.We intended to drop this interview into the second half-hour of last week's podcast. But the pace at which the new regime is authoritarianizing America is so fast and furious, we spent the entire hour yakking about it. So decided to send this one out as a standalone bonus episode.Donna Schwartz Mills described Spike's book - which summarizes this president's first administration - as a "depressing read." This lively interview is anything but that. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

The Summer of Stupid Begins in the Stupidest Way Possible

Karoli nailed it this week when she proclaimed the coming season as the Summer of Stupid. The antics coming out of the White House on Wednesday proved it, with the president holding one of his embarrassing head of state ambushes on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa... and the US government officially accepting that ridiculous Qatari plane. There was a lot more stupid to discuss, and Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills joined in with Karoli to talk about it.Alas, the stupidest thing of all occurred in the middle of the night, after the MOMocrats recorded this week's podcast: the House approved its Big Ugly Bill by one vote, which will cut over one billion dollars from Medicaid, SNAP, and Medicare (yes, $500 million from Medicare! Explained in the podcast). Action now moves to the Senate. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Republicans Want to Take Away Your Healthcare to Fund Tax Breaks for Billionaires

This week, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills wanted to vent over that $400-million flying palace which the Qatari royal family is offering as a personal "gift" to Dear Leader. And vent they did. The blatant corruption of Trump 2.0 would be comical if this was fiction. And this deal with Qatar smells so bad that it has crossed a line some MAGA supporters - and even Chuck Schumer, who is finally putting a hold on DOJ nominees (like - what took him so long?). But the issue that is most important right now is the "big, beautiful bill" that Speaker Mike Johnson is attempting to pass before Memorial Day. This bill would:* Cut $715 billion from Medicaid and*Take away health coverage from at least 8 million Americans,* All to pay for billionaire tax cuts that will cost $5 trillion. The MOMocrats had some choice words on Johnson's claim that "able-bodied young men with jobs" don't need Medicaid. Other topics this week include the arrest of NJ Mayor Ras Baraka at ICE facility protest and more Gestapo tactics from DHS, and what Ed Martin is going to be doing for the government now that Judge BoxOWine is the new interim DC US Attorney.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once - For the Next 195 Weeks

The good news is that the Ed Martin nomination for DC US Attorney appears to be dead. The bad news is that Donny Two Dolls is only a tad over 100 days into his four-year term and has already done irreparable damage to the nation's economy and world standing... and continues to attack our very democracy. MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills talk about how wearisome it is to follow a regime that is destroying everything, everywhere, all at once... and how we need to fight it the same way. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    The Last 30 Days

Everyone and his brother has been opining on Trump’s first 100 days and the general consensus is… they have not been good. (DUH!)And yes, MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills also weighed in on this week’s podcast. A little bit. Because they felt it was more important to remind folks (including themselves!) of how OUR calls, and letters, and town halls, and protests have led the people who we think of as our leaders to grow a spine and actually start to lead.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Signalgate 2.0

"We should never stop talking about Signalgate," says Karoli of the MOMocrats. And we likely never will, because the insecure chat between Trump administration national security (!) officials that inadvertently included a journalist was not a one-off. And the Fox News Defense Secretary is so incompetent and his "management" is so chaotic that the Pentagon is leaking like the Titanic. Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills note that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is STILL languishing in a Salvadoran prison (albeit a different one after his meeting with Senator Chris Van Hollen). The good news is that Americans are fighting back against the regime's assault on our fundamental rights - and we are winning some battles. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Free Kilmar Abrego Garcia

There is no issue more important than the regime's "administrative error" resulting in an innocent man's forced rendition to a foreign gulag - except the mass expulsion of all 250 immigrants without due process. And Trump's wish to do the same for "homegrowns" - US citizens who displease our "dictator from Day 1." "Kilmar Abrego Garcia is all of us," say MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills. MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts. Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Feels Like a Turning Point

Donald Trump declared April 2 his “liberation day,” when he chose to announce how extensive across-the-board tariffs would be to the world. But it’s Democrats and other anti-MAGA people who are felt liberated on Wednesday, thanks to this week’s events:1. Cory Booker’s history-making speech on the Senate floor, which demonstrated some of the leadership and fight that people have been clamoring for…2. Justice Susan Crawford’s landslide victory over a candidate backed by Elon Musk in the nation’s most expensive state Supreme Court election ever. Are we feeling “liberated” today?3. There have been twice as many anti-autocracy protests across the country than there were at this point during Trump's first term. And over 400,000 people have indicated they will be attending the nationwide Hands Off events this weekend.MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss.Part of the Demcast family of podcasts.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

    Mixed Signal

Political news moves at the speed of light these days - so the fact that Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg’s account of that Signal chat is still dominating the discussion is an indication of exactly how damaging it is. And the fact that - as of this writing - none of those involved have resigned is yet another reminder of this Administration’s willful incompetence and disregard for the safety of the American people.MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills spent a lively hour discussing the most outrageous security breach in the nation’s history - as well as the organized opposition that is finally stirring among the leaders of the Democrats.MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the DemCast family of podcasts.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]

Schumer Must Do Better. Or Go.

Yes, last week's vote on the Continuing Resolution feels like it was a decade ago - but we will be living with the fallout from it for the next six months. At least. And the anger over how the vote went down is fueling the grassroots at Democratic town halls as well as the ones in red districts.MOMocrat Karoli says that at the very least, we need to continue speaking out to pressure Congress to "do better. So Chuck Schumer has an option. If we’re all yelling at him, he can do better. And then we won’t want new leadership, right? But if he doesn’t do better, then we need somebody who will." Aliza Worthington and Donna Schwartz Mills join in on the discussion.MOMocrats MOMochat is part of the Demcast family of podcasts.Follow us on [email protected]@[email protected]
