MOSES: The friend of God. The Bible makes this remarkable statement about Moses, "The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend." (Exodus 33:11) Moses' story is the continuation of the story began by Jacob and Joseph. Joseph started out as a shepherd and ended up in the palace of Egypt. Moses started out in the palace of Egypt and ended up as a shepherd. First, he shepherded dumb sheep in an obscure region from age 40 to 80. Then from age 80 until he died at age 120, he shepherded another flock of dumb sheep—the Israelites. This is the story of the man God used to deliver a nation from bondage to the Promised Land. It is also our story of how God takes us from the bondage of sin (Egypt) and brings us into the Spirit -filled life, a land flowing with spiritual milk and honey.
