RR 6 Months Cancer Free & Never Better! 8 Life Lessons You Must Know | RR Wellness Unfiltered Podcast
August 12th 2025 my life changed forever. If you look back at that show in September I detail my event being paralyzed on life support in the ICU and coming out virtually unscathed. However at the time I taped that show I was still yet unaware of one key major component of this whole event. I had Cancer. The Cancer was found in my appendix during the appendectomy procedure. To quote my Doc: "You had Cancer in the best way possible. Because you didn't even know it and we got it out 100%. You're free and clear." So, not one but now two rare conditions are mine; the Hypopituitarism which I'll be treated for; for life. And appendiceal Cancer which happens 1-2 people out of 1 million. And today I feel better physically mentally than I have in at least 15 years; Divine Intervention no doubt. And just like my Endocrinologist said I would feel. Here's the story. And here are 8 Key Life Lessons that I've always known; but now I REALLY know them. I'm sharing them with you now. So that you can embrace them in your life without having to go through what I've been through. It may sound off beat to you. But I'm actually SO grateful for this past year. It's elevated my life and perspective to a whole new level. Enjoy this episode and ALL of my RR Live! Wellness Unfiltered podcast shows. What can I say? This episode comes as the result of my roots from Elkhart, Indiana. Shafer Suggs one of the very top and most decorated athletes to ever come out of my home town, Ball State University (my alma mater) and the state of Indiana. Growing up he and his era of athletes; these guys were my heroes. I was inspired by them to then do my ultimate best in athletics which continues to fuel my career today. This is an in depth interview. What I've come to know is all that was going on along the way at the foundation of Shafer's life growing up. What you see on the outside? The glory, the admiration the validation the championships, the accolades, the amazing sports career all the way through to the big time? Well, as we come to learn with Shafer today; it's not always what you think. Then; the lights don't just dim; They can turn out completely. Then what? These amazing professional athletes that we watch and admire all have lives and experience much of the same that we all do. I talk so much about body image self image and thus self esteem. We take that snapshot everyday as you've heard me say so many times and it guides our ship and runs our show; our foundation perspective the eyes we see from. "Lead with your gifts" as you've heard me speak of so much. Shafer has done that overall. He shares all the success which he then eventually had to acknowledge the darkness underneath. His work, his willingness to face the fear and darkness head on and his faith as an amazing father of two incredible children All pulled him through. Now inspired; he passes this on with all the work he continues to do today.
