This time we are looking at the bard and how they hold up in 5th edition dungeons and dragons. Bards could very well be the least used class at our table. I suspect that may begin to change though. The bard in 5e is far different than any iteration of the game to date. It feels like it's own thing like never before. They are full on spell casters and the best skill monkeys in the game far exceeding what the rogue can do. They also spells that are unique to them while at the same time they are able to dip into everyone elses spell list. Nerdarchy the News Letter- http://nerdarchynewsletter.gr8.com/ 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons Classes| Wild shaping with Druids in 5e It's time to revisit D&D 5e character classes Nerdarchy is discussing each class one by one from the Barbarian to the Wizard and this week we are doing the Druid. Druids in D&D 5E are really looking to be a fun a class to play. The druid archetypes seem to split the druid's abilities in half from the previous editions of dungeons and dragons. You are either going to be really good at wild shaping or more of a spell caster type. One of the key things about the D&D druid of 5th is their innate ability to be tanky after they get wild shape at 2nd level. Even the druid archetype that focuses on more spell casting and getting along in nature is far more tanky then in earlier editions of Dungeons and Dragons. Nerdarchy the News Letter- http://nerdarchynewsletter.gr8.com/ Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Getting Proficient with Proficiencies In D&D 5E The Nerdarchy crew sits down to discuss some of the new rules in up coming 5th edition dungeons and dragons. In this case we are delving into proficiencies and how they work in this version of D&D. Proficiencies aren't new to the game but they evolve quite a bit of the years from edition edition of dungeons and dragons. This approach harkens back to AD&D when proficiencies were added on to the game in a supplement and were referred to as non-weapon proficiencies. 3.0 D&D, 3.5 D&D, and Pathfinder really made non-weapon proficiencies a main stay of the game under the name of skills. When 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons was released the skill system was still there, but simplified. Even Pathfinder took some ques from this and combined some of the skills to stream line them. That is where D&D 4E and Pathfinder part ways. 4E went with this idea you were either trained in a skill or you weren't. You no longer put skill points in a skill it just advanced as you did went up in level. Dungeon and Dragons 5th edition kind of moves in this direction as well. I like it.
