Neurogether - The Journey

Jon and Carter were lucky to have connected with Claudia Pallucca at a recent Building Bridges in Medical Sciences conference. When we asked if she would do a podcast with us, we had no clue how broad her experience was! In this podcast episode we discuss how important flexbility in experiencing new things and how family tradition can stay a tradition without a set of rules. Malak is a Post graduate researcher (and PhD Candidate) at Cambridge University and is a part of a multi-disciplinary team of Neuroscientists, Biologists and Engineers, who are on the forefront of Neural Implants. This exciting podcast discusses Malak's life leading up to her exciting research and the amazing resilience it takes to be part of an intellectually diverse team. On top of all the exciting research, Malak is also the founder of Tech-hop.com. This original website allows researchers to freelance their specific skills to institutions. Malak Kawan is truly a name to keep in mind as she is changing the research meta in more ways than one.     

When strangers become friends......  This unexpected episode introduces not one but two guest speakers who are neuropsychology postdocs at University of Zurich, Switzerland. Utkarsh becomes friends with Marieke and Gianluca during his 2 month of research internship in Zurich and this brewed the perfect opportunity to talk about friendship, fun, neuroscience, challenges and success in the life of neuroscientists. 

Jon Cooke and Carter Smith of Neurogether were ecstatic when Ryan Laughton a new PhD student at Anglia Ruskin agreed to speak with them on a Podcast. Ryan Laughton, once a high up in the advertising market is now diverting his interest into the perception of pain in athletes. Like most researchers, his topic hits close to home as Ryan needed to stop playing competitive after a surgery which caused him pain. Listen to more on the Neurogether journey podcast.

Candace not only has an incredible back story to here journey but also supports Dyslexia awareness and support. We at Neurogether are proud to release this podcast in Dyslexia Awareness month and are glad that we could sit down and learn more about the research being done to support those with Dyslexia. This conversation with Candace blew our minds!!

Jon Cooke and Carter Smith sit down with Asma Arshad, a psychology student with business aspirations and a keen affinity for understanding people. In this podcast the three discuss Asma's drive towards studying psychology/ criminology and her experiences of being an international student in the UK. They also discuss penguins knees... I don't know how they got onto that topic but - its in there... 

Two Co-founders of Neurogether sit down with Emily McKendrick, a fellow PhD student that is researching the Psychology of green spaces and the outdoors. We discuss her expedition as a PhD student during the pandemic and her research. We also have a good chuckle at the mishaps that surround each journey. 

Carter Smith and Utkarsh Gupta sit down and talk with Shanna, a psychology student with a keen interest in Neuroscience. We discuss life as a mature student, being a single mom and the courage it takes to dive into the world of Neuroscience.
