Queer liberation and the labor movement share a deeply intertwined history.The Stonewall uprising of 1969 marked a watershed moment in both LGBTQ+ and labor history, igniting a wave of activism and solidarity that reverberated across the nation. Led by trans women of color, drag queens, homeless youth, and other marginalized individuals, the rebellion against police harassment at the Stonewall Inn sparked the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement and inspired a new generation of queer labor activists.Moving forward, labor unions must continue to prioritize LGBTQ+ inclusion and representation, ensuring that queer workers have a seat at the table and a voice in decision-making processes. By embracing diversity and fostering a culture of solidarity, the labor movement can build a more equitable and inclusive future for all workers, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.In the words of LGBTQ+ labor activist Bayard Rustin, "We need, in every community, a group of angelic troublemakers... Our power is in our ability to make things unworkable. The only weapon we have is our bodies, and we need to tuck them in places so the wheels don’t turn." As we celebrate Pride Month and honor the legacy of queer labor activism, let us recommit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for justice, equity, and liberation for all.

Since 2023, Walsh has been the executive director of the NHLPA (the union representing professional ice hockey players in the NHL). On February 29, 2024, President Biden nominated Walsh to serve as a governor of the USPS, for a term that would have expired on December 8, 2029. On November 14 (as a lame-duck president following the 2024 election), Biden withdrew the nomination from Senate consideration without providing an immediate explanation. The 29th United States secretary of labor from 2021 to 2023, Walsh was the first former union leader to serve in that position in roughly 45 years. Was also the first-ever Cabinet member to openly be in a twelve-step program for recovery from addiction. The 53rd mayor of Boston from 2014 to 2021. In late-2010, Walsh was elected to serve as both the secretary-treasurer and general agent of the Boston Building Trades Council from 2011 until 2013, representing 35,000 union construction workers in the Boston area. Walsh joined Laborers' Union Local 223, at the age of 21 in 1988. In 2001 he became its secretary, and in 2005 he became President of Laborers' Union Local 223.

Controversial episode / Listener discretion advised 10.31.25 -  Ring doorbell camera captured an immigration arrest in Arlington Heights. Federal agents got out of a van and placed landscaper Miriel Medina into custody. He did not resist the arrest. Class Struggle Union written by Joe Burns   Buy The Book   Class struggle unionism is the belief that our union struggle exists within a larger struggle between an exploiting billionaire class and the working class which actually produces the goods and services in society. Class struggle unionism looks at the employment transaction as inherently exploitative. While workers create all wealth in society, the outcome of the wage employment transaction is to separate workers from that wealth and create the billionaire class. From that simple proposition flows a powerful and radical form of unionism. Historically, class struggle unionists placed their workplace fights squarely within this larger fight between workers and the owning class. Viewing unionism in this way produces a particular type of unionism which both fights for broader class issues but is also rooted in workplace-based militancy.
