What is Nonduality?Nonduality is the body of teachings pointing to a perspective beyond right and wrong, good and evil, I and the other. It exposes an interconnectedness so profound that it is more accurate to say there are not two things rather than there is one thing. Yet somehow all things are known by their individuality. Such is the apparent paradoxical nature of nonduality which hopefully you enjoy!Photo of Jerry Katz by Mandee Labelle. December 2016.

LOCH KELLY, M.Div, LCSW is an educator, consultant, and recognized leader in the field of meditation and psychotherapy who was asked to teach meditation by Mingyur Rinpoche and Adyashanti. The founder of the Open-Hearted Awareness Institute, he is an emerging voice in modernizing meditation, social outreach, and collaborating with neuroscientists to study how awareness training can enhance well-being. He lives in New York City with his wife Paige and their cat, Duffy. For more, visit www.lochkelly.org. Tracks: 00:00 - 06:06 Opening music by Prosad www.prosadmusic.com. Introduction to Loch Kelly and his book Shift Into Freedom: The Science and Practice of Open Hearted Awareness, published by Sounds True. The nature of "glimpse practices" contained in his book. A glimpse compared to an experience. Non-conceptual intelligence that knows being. 06:06 - 09:55 Gray area between glimpse and experience and the nature of its bearing on preliminary practice. 09:55 - 11:54 The glimpse practices as the core of the book, Shift Into Freedom. Nature of Loch's psychotherapy practice. The next stage of human awakening. 11:54 - 14:33 Loch's reactions and arisings in response to Donald Trump's rhetoric. Someone could get stuck in a quality of apparent freedom that transcends worldly and bodily events, and this is a denial of the human. 14:33 - 16:44 Movement of awareness out of experience to have awareness realize itself directly. Form and formlessness and living from the heart. 16:44 - 23:20 Ego identification, ego personality. The two sides to defining nonduality or the nondual. Ultimate and relative reality. Thought looping on thought and connecting to ego function and becoming so identified with this thought struture that we don't see it for what it is. Almost anyone "off the street" can engage a glimpse practice and this ego indentification and relax it such that awareness is revealed. The experiential quality of that relaxing. 23:20 - 29:08 Neuroscientific perspectives. Awakeness as an interactive field beyond our apparent selves. The daydream state featuring a "me" character that is dissatisfied and thinks it is an entity that has to do something to protect itself, yet is a quality of pattern. Qualities associated with living from awareness rather than from the me-character. These are real qualities and not just beliefs in nonduality. 29:08 - 35:02 Elaborating on neuroscientific development as further insight into the undermining of the me-character. Donald Trump revisited. A developmental awareness that relaxes psychological contractions almost as they happen. This response can become the new normal so that we're feeling our feelings but not living from them in a fearful way, rather a loving way. 35:02 - 41:06 Can awakening become too technological? What is the nature of technology as a contributor to awakening? Awareness has intentionality regarding unhooking from the mind. Glimpse practices becoming integrated such that one functions from a new dimension of being. 41:06 - 51:51 Loch Kelly takes the listener through a glimpse practice. Discussion of glimpse practice. Qualities experienced and described by practitioners. 51:51 - The inquiry, What's here? Are you aware of the experienced freedom or are you the awareness itself? Preliminary practices revisited regarding getting short glimpses to stay. Unhook, drop, open, include. Conclusion. Closing music by Prosad. Loch Kelly www.lochkelly.org
