Sometimes Making Art Is Just Fixing Disasters pt. 1 | S2E4 | Nonsense.Podcast
Brian from Velocity Recording Studio joins us for what was supposed to be a normal conversation, which is always a brave assumption. We talk about the only job he ever got fired from, recording sessions that lasted until unreasonable o’clock, missing gear, forgotten memory cards, broken audio, accidental silent films, and the sacred nightmare known only as The God Cable. There’s also some actual sincerity in here about creativity, community, limitations, and why the best production stories usually start with, “So everything was fine until…” This is Part 1 because Brian had too many stories and we had no responsible adult present. The Weirdest Rules Everyone Secretly Follows | S2E3 | Nonsense.Podcast
Have you ever gotten into an elevator and suddenly understood that everyone is supposed to face the same direction, not talk, and pretend this tiny moving room full of strangers is completely normal? Well, we noticed that too, and unfortunately, we decided to talk about it. Dan and Tom join Rob in this episode as the guys discuss the strange, unspoken rules of everyday life, including elevator etiquette, birthday cake candles, urinal spacing, group text behavior, double texting, airplane armrests, holding the door for people, and why some people think the rest of us want to hear their speakerphone conversations in public. This episode also takes a few deeply unnecessary turns into bowling alley handwashing, Android and iPhone group chat chaos, watching TV shows without your spouse, getting stuck in the back of a police car, and the important marital truth that she’s allowed and he’s not. We Tried to Fix the World | S2E2 | Nonsense.Podcast
After deciding that the world’s problems clearly weren’t being solved fast enough, we took matters into our own hands. Using a bowl full of real problems written on torn scraps of paper, we attempt to fix things like traffic, dating, work schedules, loneliness, social media, grocery stores, and modern society in general. Naturally, this leads to discussions about hamster tube systems, mandatory play dates for adults, replacing money with bartering, and whether lawns should even exist anymore. Some of the ideas are surprisingly thoughtful. Most of them are absolutely terrible. Somewhere in the middle of all this, we accidentally stumble into real conversations about isolation, consumerism, work culture, and why everything feels unnecessarily complicated now. Then we immediately ruin it again by over-engineering humanity. The answer is apparently always tubes. Follow us: https://linktr.ee/justplainnonsense

Villain Origin Stories and Other Bad Ideas | S2E1 | Nonsense.Podcast
After a year and a half of “we’ll get back to it eventually,” we’re finally back… and somehow worse (but also better?). Season 2 kicks off with a production disaster that turned into a full-blown animated episode. Yeah… we forgot to focus two of the cameras. So instead of scrapping it, Rob spent the next month and a half turning everyone into cartoons. Totally normal behavior. This episode is basically a reset. New season, new structure, and a new crew. Dan and Tom officially join the chaos, and we start things off by figuring out how everyone knows each other, why they decided to jump into this, and whether bringing them on was a terrible decision. From there… it spirals. We get into hypothetical nonsense like villain origin stories, irrational beliefs, untrustworthy vegetables, and which animal we’re way too confident we could fight. There’s also a concerning amount of discussion about veal, Coke Zero, and replacing body parts with household appliances. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we actually talk about what’s next for Just Plain Nonsense. New sketches, new ideas, and a bigger push into creating the kind of content we’ve been wanting to make for a long time. It’s messy. It’s dumb. It’s exactly what it’s supposed to be. Welcome to Season 2. Follow us: https://linktr.ee/justplainnonsense

Epic On-Set Fails and Fun with an Emmy-Winning Director | Episode 56
In this wild ride of an episode, Rob and Mykah welcome 5-time Emmy Award-winner Jason Van Sickel to the chaos. Expect plenty of laughs as they swap stories about everything that could (and did) go wrong on set. They dive into the headaches of pricing film services, the stark contrast between boring setups and dazzling final products, and how AI is shaking up the industry. Oh, and did we mention Rob and Jason are making a film together in Texas? Tune in for advice, mishaps, and a whole lot of nonsense! Follow us: linktr.ee/justplainnonsense

Most of This Episode is About Food | Episode 55
Before they started recording this episode, they were discussing ordering food, to be delivered during the podcast. They ultimately decided against it and, instead just talked about food for 35 minutes. Then, Rob tries to convince Amanda that her baby is operating her from inside as if she were a mech suit and, if she were to go swimming, she is basically a submarine for the baby. After a while, they get back on the topic of food, but this time, Mykah wants to swim in a tub of ice cream and drink it from her hair. What can the government do? Speaking of hair, Shane does his best to convince Mykah to shave her hair off, but to no avail. Follow us: https://linktr.ee/justplainnonsense

Conversations With Our Parents: Rob's Dad Bob | Episode 54
They have been talking about bringing their parents on the podcast for a while. Today, it finally happened. Rob's dad, Bob shows up to spill the tea about Rob's childhood. They begin by learning about Rob's dad and the fact that he went from being an athiest to an ordained minister, he was a security guard and a bounty hunter, all at the same time. And, in typical Nonsense.Podcast fashion, the conversation takes a misguided turn and they end up debating the practicality of why pirates wore eye patches in the early 1700s. When they get back on track, we learn all kinds of interesting things about Rob's past and we hear Bob's side of several of the stories told by Rob on previous episodes. The new crew already know each other but want to give you, the viewer, the opportunity to get to know them as well; and what other way to do that than to tell embarrassing, self-incriminating stories from their lives.
