    Not Faulty Just Blank DOES....Adverts

Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! Rejoice dear Blankers for the boys are back!!Jim, Del & Phil return with their 4th series and....a brand new format! Having previously examined and analysed every year from 1980 through to 2009 they're changing tack and this time around each episode will be dedicated and focused on a single subject. The boys will still look at films & music but they'll all be linked back to the main topic in question (however tenuously). The subject to kick off this new series is Adverts which allows Jim, Del & Phil to meander off down nostalgia avenue as they recall lots of their favourite ads from their younger days growing up as well as having a bit of a sing song whilst chatting about some of the catchy jingles that accompanied them. All the talk of adverts makes Del remember a story from when he auditioned to star in one when he was younger and the ensuing horror that came with the casting session. The boys will also be selecting a single film linked (again, incredibly tenuously) back to the topic to put forward for debate and then the 3 of them select the best one. After film, the boys then move on to tackle music linked to Adverts. The goal is to create a Top 10 tracks linked to each episode topic which will then be used to create another beautifully curated Spotify playlist for all you lovely Blankers to have a listen to here.....https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6FkfVEebhyYCHzZlJNlKMC?si=2079e873a4714442&pt=50823928ce749c7593dab21b12941218Although the format is different in some ways, they'd never tinker with your 'Letters & Emails' section and this episode sees the mail bag ripped open once again as the 3 amigos answer your increasingly disturbing questions.Hope you enjoy it!! 1987! Introducing the 3Gees (Part 2)

Hola Blankers! Welcome to Part 2 of our extended 1987 episode and, as usual, we jump with both feet straight in at the deep end with Jim, Del and Phil's top 3 film choices from the year in question. It is, as ever, a fairly diverse selection from the 3 chums. After the films are put to bed, the lads move on and discuss the top 3 albums of 1987 where, this time at least, they are all in agreement that this was one of the better years in the decade for music. However, Phil has a difficult decision to make with his top 3....Erm, Mer, REM! The top 10 best selling singles are then counted down and we are delighted to hear the boys' vocal talents really shine through as they introduce the world to the newest male harmony trio - the 3Gees!!No episode would be complete without a dip into the Letters & Emails where, once again, you lot have excelled yourselves with some very interesting questions.Stay safe Blankers and enjoy the show.Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. We learn about him posting cheese to his mum and a local man undertaking an odd activity in the street. The news from 1987 is then dissected followed by another classic game of Jim vs Phil vs Del.The first half of the episode is then rounded off with a thorough look back at the TV of the year - once again we were spoilt for choice with some absolute classic shows and some wonderful theme tunes to boot!Enjoy it Blankers...Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. Part 2 of the 1986 episode is here and it starts with Jim, Del & Phil diving straight in with a look at the top films from that year. Their discussion of their individual Top 3s highlights some interesting crossovers - who knew they were so cinematically similar!Their musical choices from 1986 were very disparate though as the albums ranked 3, 2 & 1 all differ slightly as the music of the decade continues to divide the boys opinions. As usual, the episode finishes off with some listener 'Letters & Emails' where a question from a Blanker starts an intriguing conversation involving the one and only, Mr Noel Edmonds....Enjoy Blankers!!Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. 1986! Rejected by the Homeless (Part 1)

Like a lovely evening up the pub, the boys settle back in to proceedings reminiscing with tales of their summer adventures before they begin the 'serious' business at hand - a deep dive into the goings on from 1986. The news from 1986 was pretty hefty this time around (although some enormous international stories were almost forgotten - luckily our ace scoop reporter, Phil 'In The Blanks' Reynolds, was there to rectify the situation). In sports news, it seems that the infamous 'Hand of God' moment from the Mexico World Cup still seems to badly affect the boys - even 37 years on! In a surprise twist to the show that no-one saw coming, Del goes a bit rogue and segues into a story from his past of when he propositioned a homeless person...only to be flat out rejected!! Part 1 is then neatly wrapped up with a chat about the belting TV of 1986 and there's some cracking theme tunes to boot.Enjoy Blankers!Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. There are several HUGE films that are unlucky to miss out on the podium and get a deserved honourable mention instead. Heartbreaking...As usual, they then get into the music from the year in question and chat through their favourite albums as well as going through the top 10 biggest selling singles of 1985 too.The fellas round off the episode with the part you all wait patiently for...it's your Letters & Emails where Jim, Del & Phil have to answer some of the toughest (and oddest) questions imaginable.Enjoy Blankers!!!Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. This is followed by an in depth look at what was big in TV that year - with some funny stories to run alongside them.Heads up - it’s another episode that gets split into 2 parts due to the running length so we’ll be back next week with Part 2 featuring films, music and your 'Letters & Emails'.Cheers Blankers!!Email - [email protected]://open.spotify.com/playlist/15nb9xa6aY1taSA3QVENZR?si=0fb75a323df64a11 Hosted on Acast. 1983! Tanned Airline Pilots (Part 1)

The boys return to the studio with clearly too much time on their hands and plenty to say as they waffle on - hence why this is a two parter! In what's quickly becoming a regular section, the podcast opens up with Del's Dog Walking Question which splits the boys opinions on airline pilots. Then it's business as usual as they get down to it and tackle the news of 1983 along with Jim vs Phil in the Weird Records segment. They take a deep dive into the TV of the year but Phil's motored ahead by accident and gives us a sneeky peak at some from 1984 having researched the wrong year!! The boys finish this first half of the pod by highlighting the majestic movies of 1983 and realise there are some cracking ones to choose from. The 2nd part will follow next week....Email - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

He talks about his solo projects (youtube.com/@Bedroom2Stage) as well as his collaboration with the band Kismet (featuring friend of the pod...Kate West).Chappie also takes the time to answer our all important questions when he's deeply probed on the '80s Mystery Road Trip' before treating us all to an 80s inspired medley of hits.ENJOY!!!https://www.instagram.com/chappie_music/[email protected] Hosted on Acast. Special Guest - Sheila Lord

Our first special guest of the new series and what a cracker! It’s a huge warm welcome to Sheila Lord - a singer/songwriter from Southend - who joined the boys in the studio to talk about her upbringing, her early career aspirations as well as her current and upcoming projects which include an appearance at the Leigh Folk Festival on 25th June, reaching the final of the Battlelines competition and working on a new record. She also jumped headlong into the full Not Faulty oddness as she became the first person to take our new 80s Mystery Road Trip. As if that wasn’t enough, Sheila also performed 3 outstanding songs for us including a fantastic acoustic cover of Whitney Houston's 1987 smash hit, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, along with 2 of her own wonderful songs hoping to make it onto her new EP.You can find the videos of all 3 songs on our YouTube or TikTok channels. 1981! Theme Tunes 'R' Us

Jim, Del & Phil continue with their journey back through the 80s, stopping this time at 1981. Their extensive research has uncovered the fact that almost every TV show had a banging theme tune which the lads try to perform and, rather spectacularly, fail to do justice!Phil & Del once again go head-to-head for another round of 'Uncle Faulty's Naughty Box' and, of course, the lads round up everything from 1981 as they go over the news events, films & music of the year. It's another splendid episode!Don't forget to check out the 80s Spotify playlist to see what tunes have been added from the boys' musical choices...https://open.spotify.com/playlist/15nb9xa6aY1taSA3QVENZR?si=3a8ee8dfbf8c4fcbEmail - [email protected] Hosted on Acast. 2009! Done with Another Decade

So, another decade is completed and Jim, Del & Phil round it off in style by taking a nosey at 2009. Worryingly, the personal memories this episode focus heavily on vomit (careful now) which amuses the lads immensely whilst Del recalls his stag do and Jim has great pleasure in telling a story about Del getting electrocuted....twice!! Meanwhile, Phil is maturing as he expects another baby to join his brood but rather blows that theory out of the water with the story that follows - guess what? More vomit!Personal Memories of 2009News & Sport of 2009TV of 2009Films of 2009Music of 2009Letters & EmailsEmail: [email protected] Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

As we approach the final year or two of the decade, the boys discuss everything to do with 2008...and what a year it was! Del talks about our infamous trip to Las Vegas where Jim (possibly foolishly) stands up to aggressive and armed security guards, as well as a very funny Stag Do over to Barcelona with 'Party Boy'. Then we've the usual chat about the year before we round off with some listener 'Letters & Emails' in which we suggest and debate the merits of a new & improved version of Dragon's Den.Episode includes....Personal Memories of 2008News & Sport of 2008TV of 2008Films of 2008Music of 2008Letters & EmailsEmail: [email protected] Hosted on Acast. Kate discusses the many varied things that currently occupy her time - from her solo work and her band through to her passion project "The Nightingale Sessions". We maroon Kate on ‘Desert Island Dicks’ and during her answers she reveals such diversity as a meeting with Shed Seven as well as a previously unrealised love for films starring long haired lead actors on horseback!Kate also plays not two, but three songs for us. ABOUT THIS SHOW

Being born in the late 70s, they believe that the 80s and 90s were the last truly great decades but, can you remember what was popular in music, film and TV? Do you recall your first love, bunking off school, music festivals and more? Join James, Phil & Rich - friends of more than 30 years - as, every episode, they discuss and reminisce about a single year. Was growing up in the 80s & 90s really as good as they remember it? Did it improve with age in the 00s? Take a hilarious trip down memory lane with 3 Essex Boys, several beers, lots of wine gums and just a few scribbled notes to guide them. Now they're taking on a host of single topics and casting their obscure minds over them all. Their minds are willing but are they able? They're Not Faulty, Just Blank. Hosted on Acast.
