Off Scott-Free: The Podcast

We swore we’d never start a podcast… so naturally, we did. Off Scott-Free is a weekly conversation between Atlas and Olivia Scott about marriage, faith, creativity, and the everyday moments worth remembering. Think of it as a video diary, not a platform: honest, reflective, and made to last.

Episode 16 - Not a Perfect World, Just a Better Routine

In this episode, we recap a thought-provoking church message on why a “perfect” society doesn’t quite work in the real world, and share the personal rules we’re building our lives around right now to grow in discipline, health, and faith. We also catch up on meaningful time with friends, talk through a very real (and very expensive) life update, and let you in on what we’re learning about money, priorities, and long-term goals. Plus: grocery dates, current watchlist reviews, a surprisingly productive audiobook streak, and a big update: our movie script is officially in the works!Oh, and somewhere in there… an 18.5 mile walk.Chapters:0:00:00 Intro0:05:24 Why Utopia Doesn't Survive Reality0:31:01 Liv's Reset Blueprint0:36:48 Baptisms & Catch-Ups0:39:29 $4,500 Worth of Character Development0:47:00 Errands, But Make It Romantic0:51:46 Morally Grey Lawyers & Magical Lions1:01:00 Turning Time Into Growth1:03:41 We're Actually Doing This1:11:32 Just a Light Stroll...1:15:46 Outro

Episode 15 - Your Mom Needs to Come Pick Y’all Up

From Easter Sunday at Six Flags to a chaotic weekend in Little Rock, this week had a little bit of everything. We start by recapping the beginning of the week with a fun trip to Six Flags with the Murtha sisters that quickly sets the tone for what becomes a very eventful stretch of days filled with small disasters and car issues that refuse to resolve themselves.By Friday, we make our way to Little Rock where the boys spend time at Oaklawn watching horse races while Liv gets some intentional one-on-one time with Atlas’ grandparents. We have late-night hangouts, unexpectedly amazing tacos, and conversations that somehow drift from current life updates into full-blown childhood nostalgia spirals. We also talk through the more unexpected moments of the trip, including Jake performing in a salsa band as a very committed white boy on trombone. The weekend wraps with meaningful time spent with family, a lot of laughs, and some genuinely sweet conversations that balance out the chaos. And to close it all out, we share a big podcast update: we’ve officially upgraded our setup with new microphones and are stepping into a new era where we’ll start bringing guests onto the show soon! Chapters:0:00:00 Intro0:02:21 Easter, Rollercoasters, and Public Enemy #1 (Teenage Boys)0:21:08 $0 Parking, $$$ Consequences0:27:05 Check Engine Light: A Love Story0:31:58 We Finally Called Saul0:34:42 She Said She'd 'Shoot the Families'???0:47:00 Lucky Number 4 Strikes Again0:52:48 Couple Goals, Honestly0:56:10 Forgetful Jake, Unforgettable Tacos1:02:21 A White Boy Played Salsa and Somehow We Ended Up at Floam?1:08:10 Southern Tail Talks & Podcast Upgrade1:14:57 Outro

Episode 14 - Annex B-roll, Brake Lights, and Bad Timing

This week had a little bit of everything. We spent most of our time working on visuals for Annex B. Late nights, parking garage shots, and racing the weather to pull everything off. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we took our cat on an office field trip, Liv “accidentally” walked a half marathon, and we had some unexpectedly deep conversations with family that stuck with us.Also… Liv’s car broke. Or maybe it didn’t? We’re still not entirely sure. What started as a “simple fix” quickly turned into a glowing dashboard and a lot of second-guessing.Throw in a rainy shoot, some emotional moments, and a strong opinion or two about reality TV, and you’ve got this week’s episode.Chapters:0:00:00 Intro0:04:07 When Your Parents Become Your People0:10:14 Hugo's Big Night Out0:14:40 A Lens on Letting Go0:23:29 Dashboard Christmas Came Early0:33:40 Timbre & Taillights0:37:20 Cinemark Membership Evangelists0:44:40 I Just Went to UPS… Anyway I Walked 13 Miles0:49:50 Rain, Lights, Action0:59:10 This Show Tests Our Patience1:09:35 Outro

Episode 13 - Balancing Today and Tomorrow feat. Hugo & Willow

“This week, we reflect on a meaningful Sunday church service and discuss how we’re trying to bring more structure, like prayer, Sabbath, and community, into our daily lives. We share our journey finding a church home and building friendships as young married couples, and Atlas talks business with my dad, which leads into a conversation about our own financial goals as a couple. We also chat about the media we’ve been enjoying. From Breaking Bad and Love Is Blind to Project Hail Mary and Narnia and how it’s inspiring our creative projects. We wrap up by catching up with friends we haven’t seen in a while, all while our cats keep reminding us that interruptions are part of life.0:00:00 Intro0:01:19 From Sunday Service to Monday Motivation0:29:45 Young, Married, and Socially Clueless0:40:38 Atlas' Next Steps: Father-Son Insights0:46:48 Saving, Spending, and Not Ruining Our Fun1:05:21 Entertainment That Actually Entertains1:17:36 Audiobooks & the Art of Not Boring Yourself at Work1:19:43 Evenings Well Spent with the People Who Matter1:21:09 Outro

Episode 12 - Before We Have Kids

Somewhere between Lewisville and Midland, on the way to celebrate Atlas’ birthday and shoot content for Annex B at the Monahans dunes, the conversation unfolds into a deep dive on kids, parenting, and the direction society seems to be heading. We talk honestly about our own childhoods, what worked, what didn’t, and the patterns we’ve carried with us into adulthood. That leads into a bigger conversation about what we’re seeing now in Gen A: shorter attention spans, constant stimulation, and a noticeable struggle with self-soothing in a world dominated by screens. We unpack the idea of “brain rot,” not just in younger generations, but in ourselves, and how easy it is to become dependent on distraction. From there, we shift into the future. What we’d want to do differently, what values matter most to us, and how we hope to raise grounded, present, and emotionally aware kids in a culture that often pulls in the opposite direction. It’s thoughtful, honest, and a little all over the place in the best way.0:00:00 Intro0:01:34 Is Gen Alpha the most screwed generation?0:04:15 Georgie Boys and the Gen Alpha face0:09:36 Gen Z vs Gen Alpha: social anxiety isn't the same0:29:42 The greenhouse tree analogy: struggle builds roots0:35:27 iPad kids, boredom & the pacifier problem0:40:24 Raising our future kids in a tech-saturated world0:53:30 Strict vs gentle parenting0:56:58 Divorce and the collapse of the family unit1:01:10 Leading by example: on set and at home1:04:03 Parents owning their mistakes1:13:40 Generational timeline: Gen X through Gen Beta1:16:10 Outro

Episode 11 - Six Flags Let Us Down… but Conan Gray Didn’t

This week’s episode is a bit of a rollercoaster. Olivia kicks things off while feeling under the weather and recaps our disappointing trip to Six Flags Over Texas, where limited rides and long waits made even Flash Passes feel pointless. We also talk about some creative changes behind the scenes and why we’re putting Atlas Drums on pause for now to focus on other projects.Next, we dive into our Enneagram types and what they reveal about our compatibility. Atlas also shares stories from his time on set working with Paramount on a project connected to the Yellowstone universe.Later, we talk about scoring last-second tickets to see Conan Gray on the Wishbone Tour dressed as Steve and Robin from Stranger Things. We wrap things up with Olivia’s outing with the Murtha Girls to the Fort Worth Stockyards, thoughts on the new movie Hoppers, and starting the Breaking Bad series.0:00 - Intro2:15 - Sick Day at Six Flags27:23 - Putting Down the Drumsticks (For Now)39:12 - Painting by Enneagram Numbers43:48 - Lights, Camera, Dutton Ranch50:53 - Steve & Robin Hit the Pit at the Wishbone World Tour69:16 - Murtha Girls, Movies, and Meth Labs72:11 - Outro

We talk about our current era of going to the movies almost weekly thanks to our Cinemark membership (and why The Moment didn’t quite live up to expectations). We also recap filming a music video with our friends in MKN Coffee, balancing creative projects with work and marriage, and Olivia’s showroom grand opening. The conversation continues through his gap year and the creation of his first feature-length film Black Box, his autobiographical book Sunglasses, and his years posting drum covers on his YouTube channel, Atlas Drums. We also dive into his collegiate film projects at the University of North Texas, what it was like stepping onto professional sets including work with Paramount Pictures, and how music eventually became a major creative outlet. If you’ve ever wondered how a creative career actually unfolds. Olivia shares a vulnerable moment about processing old feelings from a past relationship and why withholding jealousy and choosing grace instead changes everything. We also talk about what we’re building creatively right now: breakthroughs in our movie outline, renaming Atlas’ album, and how feeling secure at home gives you the freedom to take bigger risks in your art.Safe love.
