The Darnell Nurse trade, Freddie Andersen, and chef Stan Bowman

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed NHL free agency, the Darnell Nurse trade, Freddie Andersen, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about what was the most surprising move in the early days of free agency. Whether it was the Darnell Nurse trade to San Jose, or Freddie Andersen signing in Edmonton for a scratch ticket, or Ryan Shea coming to town as a potential Nurse replacement, the Oilers got a lot of work done on day one without necessarily breaking the bank. As you'll hear, the boys all had different ideas about what went well and what might have been the best move of all.Shifting gears, the guys continued with the breaking news that dropped before the podcast after the Philadelphia Flyers put a massive offer sheet down on Leo Carlsson from the Anaheim Ducks. If the offer sheet is accepted or not, Carlsson will instantly become the highest paid player in the NHL despite not even hitting a point-per-game last season. The offer sheet also Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed Canada's matchup against Morocco at the World Cup, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. Oilers draft history, Darnell Nurse rumours, and the World Cup

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the NHL Draft, the latest Darnell Nurse rumours, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the NHL Draft and which takes we've had over the years that aged the best and worst. Whether it's thinking certain picks were going to be slam dunks, or believing that the Oilers ruined guys who were never going to make it, the boys discussed some of their favourite draft stories either good or bad. As you'll hear, expecting the boys on the podcast to correctly predict the draft or how these players will work out is basically impossible. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a recap of the latest in the Darnell Nurse rumours, and whether the long-time defenceman will still be with the Oilers through the weekend. While many Oilers fans thought the draft would be a reasonable time to move Nurse, the reality is that this move might take a while to get something done. The guys also discussed whether or not there is a chance that he doesn't get traded at all? They also discussed the Oilers' situation between the crease, and whether it's acceptable or not if the tandem is a Ingram/Jarry tandem again. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed Canada's matchup against South Africa at the World Cup, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. The Mike Babcock era begins, and the Oilers get some free agency work done

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Mike Babcock press conference, Jason Dickinson's new deal, Connor Murphy re-signing, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Mike Babcock press conference, and what everyone thought about our first look at the team's newest coach. While everyone was curious how today was going to go, what wasn't overly surprising was that Mike Babcock didn't really answer those questions with any honesty. Whether it was his refusing to admit faults in Columbus or tap-dancing some of the tougher questions, there are still plenty of unanswered questions that will only be solved in time. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with Babcock conversation by wondering what they think is most likely to come next now that the press conference is done. We got some free agents signed this week in Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy, but with free agency kicking off in just over a week, we're about to find out if having Babcock behind the bench will impact the calibre of player the Oilers might attract. While it was great that Dickinson and Murphy believed in the team enough to extend, that doesn't necessarily mean the same will be true for players who Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, the first edition of Reece's Game, which ended up being tennable, and a quick chat on what to expect from Canada's matchup against Switzerland at the World Cup. If Canada draws or wins, they will punch their ticket through to the round of 32. If they win, they will begin the round at home instead of having to travel abroad. NHL opens the door to the Oilers entering the Babcock era

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Darnell Nurse trade rumours, where he might end up, the incoming Mike Babcock press conference, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Mike Babcock becoming the Oilers' next head coach, and whether there's anything he can do to win over the Oilers fans who are not at all happy about the decision. Given the Oilers are making this decision not caring about the fanbase's opinion, there's little doubt that the noise surrounding this decision will be incredibly loud. That led the boys to wonder what kinds of questions the media will be asking about the situation and what to expect going forward. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with another round of Darnell Nurse trade talk. The boys had David Pagnotta on Oilersnation Everyday on Friday afternoon, and he pitched a couple of ideas on what a Nurse deal might look like. The options seem to be that the Oilers either hold some salary for a better return, or accept a lesser trade to clear out every dollar. Is there a scenario where Edmonton can actually make a hockey trade? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Ask the Idiots questions, and Hot and Cold Performers to wrap up the week. The guys also discussed the Stanley Cup Final, the Hurricanes winning it all, and how the entire office is bought in on the World Cup. While the Nation HQ staff may not know what's going on very often, that hasn't stopped the squad from getting excited anyway. 🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/🎙️ Subscribe to Oilersnation for daily Oilers coverage, live shows, and exclusive player interviews → https://www.youtube.com/@oilersnation Hosted on Acast. World Cup fever, and can the Oilers actually win a Darnell Nurse trade?

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Darnell Nurse's trade request, where he might end up, the Mike Babcock situation, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not Darnell Nurse carries more risk than some fans are acknowledging. Given the minutes he plays and his constant availability, it's worth having a discussion about whether or not moving on from the player will create a bigger hole than some people think. While there's no debate that the contract has become an issue, there is still a strong hockey player there that the team will likely be without when the next season rolls around.Shifting gears, the guys continued with the Darnell Nurse conversation with a look at what trading him might even look like. His contract is obviously a massive part of the story when it comes to moving him, but that shouldn't suggest that Nurse carries zero value on the trade market. But what kind of trade should Oilers fans even expect? From there, the boys spoke about the never-ending coaching drama that's raging on after news broke earlier in the week that the team is interested in Mike Babcock. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Ask the Idiots questions, and Hot and Colder Performers to wrap up the week. The guys also discussed the Stanley Cup Final and how the Carolina Hurricanes have a chance to close things out in Game 6 on Sunday night. They also discussed the NBA Finals and how the Knicks' comeback wins have been wild to watch. Speaking of wild to watch, seeing Knicks fans beating up Spurs fans just for wearing team merch ranks right up there for being nuts. 🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Reacting to Mike Babcock becoming the new Oilers head coach

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Mike Babcock coaching hire, the public's reaction to the move, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday emergency episode of ONR with a look at the Oilers' decision to bring in Mike Babcock as their new head coach. After weeks of hearing Bruce Cassidy's name as the main target for the job, it was a stunning development to see Mike Babcock's name attached to the team, given all of the recent history and baggage associated with this specific candidate. While there's zero doubt about the resume, the reality is that not much has gone well for Babcock since winning with Detroit nearly 20 years ago. Needless to say, the fanbase's reaction was as spicy as expected, and that's why we gathered for an emergency episode of ONR to break things down.Sticking with the Babcock conversation, we looked back at some of his coaching controversies and wondered whether the Oilers will be asking for him to change, or if the franchise is expecting that same guy to show up and turn things around. Given the franchise's messaging that they wanted a firmer approach behind the bench, it always seemed like it would be a short list of candidates, but the boys certainly didn't think there was a world where Babcock was the solution. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a quick update on some of the drama that's kicked up at Nation HQ over the last week, including the growing Duck Mystery and the fallout from the office World Cup draft.🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Will the Oilers really trade Darnell Nurse?

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Darnell Nurse rumours, free agency, the Stanley Cup Final, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Darnell Nurse rumours that kicked up this week after Mark Spector wrote an article at Sportsnet, citing that the player and team are heading for a split. And while the rumours certainly got Oilers fans talking, there is no guarantee that Stan Bowman will be able to find a suitor for a contract this big. There's also the angle that removing Darnell Nurse creates a 20-minute hole on the back end that will need to be filled.Shifting gears, the boys looked at a burgeoning scandal that's happening at Nation HQ after a bunch of tiny plastic duckshades had been appearing around the office. As you'll hear, the appearance of the Ducks around the office has prompted an offseason investigation that is taking up everyone's bandwidth until the mystery is solved. Getting back to hockey, the boys spent some time looking at the Stanley Cup Final, and how both teams are showing reasons why either could win. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. He also dives deep into Edmonton’s ongoing goaltending questions heading into next season and explains why he’d seriously consider calling Minnesota about Filip Gustavsson.Dubey also gives an awesome behind-the-scenes look at how goaltending has evolved over the years — from the rise of RVH/VH techniques to why NHL save percentages are dropping league-wide. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' coaching situation, Evan Bouchard's injury at Worlds, the Conference Finals, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not the boys have a problem with the Oilers allowing their players to participate in the World Championships, given what happened to Evan Bouchard yesterday against the USA. While it's definitely unfortunate to see that Bouchard got injured, the boys made a good case for why he should have gone to this tournament, given his hopes of playing for the Canadian Olympic team. Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest news on the Oilers' coaching search, including quotes from Kelly McCrimmon and Bruce Cassidy after they were asked about the situation. Despite Kelly McCrimmon saying the Oilers leaked the story and that they don't want to talk about this any further, Vegas' GM keeps booking himself for radio appearances where he invariably gets asked about it. Whether it's talk about the goaltending, Connor McDavid's contract, or the Oilers' Cup window closing, there is so much noise around the team that the boys are tired of listening to. But with the summer just getting started, the chances of any of this noise going away are next to zero.Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest rumblings in the Oilers' coaching search, even though literally nothing has happened. With Vegas still refusing to permit Edmonton to speak to Bruce Cassidy, the boys discussed if any other names would be suitable Plan Bs if Cassidy doesn't work out. Kris Knoblauch is gone, so what do the Oilers do now?

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Morgan Reilly rumour that came out of the DFO Rundown: Insider Edition, suggesting that Toronto might be ready to move on from their long-term d-man. Given that there have been plenty of rumours about Darnell Nurse getting traded, would it make sense to do a one-for-one swap of the two defencemen? Is that a move the Oilers should even consider?Shifting gears, the boys looked at the Kris Knoblauch timeline, which seems to suggest the Oilers were trying to have their cake and eat it too. It was almost as if they wanted to see their options before deciding on Kris Knoblauch, but with the news leaking, that option was likely taken off the table. It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about who out of Stan Bowman, Darnell Nurse, Tristan Jarry, and Kris Knoblauch will be around next year. Given that there will be plenty of changes over the summer, the guys looked at the four most talked-about names and took a few swings at who they think will be around when October rolls around. That led to a debate about which of those guys are likely to be around, not because they're necessarily wanted, but rather because contracts make it likely. Shifting gears, the boys looked at Evan Bouchard being snubbed from being a Norris Trophy finalist. As you'll hear, Rick was very passionate about No. 2 not getting a nod for the award, and how it seems unfathomable that the year he had wasn't worth being named as one of the NHL's three best defencemen. The Oilers' off-season begins

It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' post-season pressers, the Dynamic Duo's scathing comments, free agency, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how concerned everyone was about the post-season press conferences, given that the Dynamic Duo didn't exactly pull punches with their answers. From the team not being good enough to even taking steps backward, the messaging from the Oilers' best players was as blunt as you could get. Needless to say, when Draisaitl and McDavid speak as honestly as they do, Edmonton's management desperately needs to take notice. Shifting gears, the boys called David Quadrelli from Canucksarmy to see if they could pitch him a trade proposal live on the podcast, with the Oilers sending Tristan Jarry or Darnell Nurse to Vancouver to clear cap space. As you'll hear, some of the boys' ideas were well received by Quads, while others were shot down almost immediately. They also discussed the Oilers' coaching situation after news came out of Tampa Bay that Jon Cooper isn't going anywhere, ruining the dreams the guys started on Friday's episode. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of the podcast with another round of betting talk for our friends at bet365, and a round of Tenable about the World Championships to add a little levity after a very annoying week. With the playoff run wrapped up and cut short, the boys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the playoffs, some not, but that’s the way things go during the off-season on ONR.📺 Subscribe for Edmonton Oilers coverage, NHL news, playoff analysis, and hockey podcasts🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/(Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Breakding down the Oilers' Game 6 loss and looking ahead at a busy summer

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' first-round exit, what changes to expect in Edmonton, line combinations, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether the boys were more frustrated or sad after the Oilers got kicked out of the playoffs in the first round. After making it to the Stanley Cup Final the past two seasons, it's hard to make sense of what went wrong for a team that had much higher expectations for itself. As a second delicious debate, the boys discussed whether Kris Knoblauch will be behind the bench when the 2026-27 season kicks off.Shifting gears, the boys looked at some of the decisions the Oilers made throughout the year, and how some of the moves turned out okay, while others have been complete disasters. Starting with the coaching, the boys wondered whether Kris Knoblauch will be behind the bench when the next season kicks off. Given that there are some quality coaches currently available, would the Oilers want to pull the trigger on that move early to leave their options open? Or will they bring back for another tour, given that his contract extension just kicks in this year? Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. With the playoffs firmly underway, the guys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the Oilers' off-season, some not, but that’s the way things go on the Friday episode of ONR.📺 Subscribe for Edmonton Oilers coverage, NHL news, playoff analysis, and hockey podcasts🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by Bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Oilers Pushed To The Brink Of Elimination

Oilersnation Radio is back with another episode as the guys break down a massive moment for the Edmonton Oilers and try to make sense of where things have gone wrong. It starts with a delicious debate before diving into the blame board — who deserves the most heat right now? From injuries to inconsistent goaltending and coaching decisions, nothing is off the table. The conversation also touches on the emotional side behind the bench (because what coach doesn’t get upset with the refs?), while giving credit where it’s due — you can’t disrespect the Ducks and the way they’ve been playing.Despite the situation, there’s still some belief. The Oilers haven’t quit, and this is a team that’s battled back before. The challenge now? Finding the right angle, picking the right starter, and managing ice time properly. They also go around the league, get into some betting talk, and wrap things up with score predictions.📺 Subscribe for Edmonton Oilers content, NHL news, playoff coverage, and hockey podcasts.🤝 SPONSORS🙌 Powered by bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/(Use code: NATION)🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Oilers injury woes and a #NationVacation recap

Another week is set to wrap, we're all back from Vegas, and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is here and set to lead you into the weekend. This week, we look at all of the Oilers' injuries that have come down recently, preview tomorrow night's game against the Jets, and recap the #NationVacation to Las Vegas.   To kick off this week's podcast, we started with a look at the Oilers' recent run of injuries that are plaguing the lineup right now and whether or not this is the kind of adversity that will bring the boys together. Though, looking at Twitter today, it seems like some of the fallen will be returning to the lineup soon which will be an obvious boost. We also looked at the three news guys and offered our opinions on who we thought made the best first impression. Changing gears entirely, we spent the last half of the podcast recapping this week's #NationVacation, including all of the shenanigans we got up to along the way. More importantly, we spent a few minutes at the end of the show being thankful for the amazing people that made this trip possible. Without all of you, none of these trips could ever happen and we're incredibly thankful for the wonderful community that allows us to throw these events. Hosted on Acast. BOA Breakdown, Player Safety, and Cheating in Hockey

Another Friday is upon us and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is here and set to lead you into the weekend. This week, we look back at last weekend's BOA, a big win over the Predators on Tuesday night, and what to expect as the Oilers head into their bye week.   To kick off this week's podcast, we got started with a look back at the #NationRoadTrip to Calgary that happened last weekend along with all the shenanigans that went with it. From the Zack Kassian suspension to the charitable initiatives that spawned from that game, there was plenty to talk about as we tried to make sense of what went down. From there, we looked at Caleb Jones' new contract, what everyone thought about it, and what it means for the state of the defence moving forward. Does having Jones locked in for two years mean that a move on defence is coming? From there, we moved onto the NHL's Player Department of Safety and how inconsistent they've been when dolling out justice to cheaters around the league. As an example, Zack Kassian spoke about targetted hits being legal and how he will remember that moving forward, so we wondered if the league is doing enough when it comes to keeping its players safe. To close out this week's podcast, we finished up with the hot and cold performers of the week which looked at the best and worst performances from the past seven days. As always, it was a jam-packed episode of Oilersnation Radio and one that you'll definitely want to give a listen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"I don't want to cheer for the wave and shit"

Can you believe you've already waited a whole week for a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio? You can’t, can you? I can only imagine what the struggle must have been like. Fortunately, the agonizing is over and we’ve got a fresh podcast that’s ready for your earholes just in time for the weekend.   To start off today's podcast, we looked at the week that was for the Edmonton Oilers, including the injury sustained by Riley Sheahan in Wednesday's game against Columbus. As insurance, the team recalled Colby Cave from Bakersfield and I asked the boys whether or not he'd play, and where he'd fit in the lineup. Sticking with the line combinations, I offered up an apology to Dave Tippett for putting Jujhar Khaira, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Sam Gagner together since I had very low expectations for the trio and they've been solid over the past two games. Next up, we all took a few minutes to gush over the incredible month of October Leon Draisaitl and whether or not he'll be able to keep this heater rolling into November. We also looked at the Oilers upcoming schedule and took a few bets on what kind of month we think they'll have. Lastly, we finished up this week's podcast with a look at the Hot and Cold Performers of the Week, and as usual, what was expected to be a straight-forward conversation turned into one hell of an argument. McDavid's best career goal? Fan appreciation night, and an interview with Larvinen

Hello friends, welcome back to episode 30 of Oilersnation Radio! 30 episodes, can you believe it? This week we're joined by our very special friend who travelled all the way from Finland to visit the city and watch the Oilers play this week. Larvinen came with 24 other Finnish hockey fans, and let me tell you, they know how to have a good time. Larvinen sits down with us at the end of the episode to update us on how his trip is going, and to give us his perspective of how he took control of Rogers Place during the game last night. Other topics discussed include the best places to sit in Rogers Place, Ken Hitchcock's three-year contract with the Oilers, and we address all of the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins trade rumours. Connor McDavid also scored ANOTHER highlight-reel goal in last nights game against the Stars. The boys seem to think that last nights goal was better than his goal against the Blue Jackets two years ago, but I disagree. We get into this stupid argument about how McDavid's goal last night could have been better, and you're going to want to listen to it! This weeks Intro/Outro song is 'One Step From Magic' from Carter & The Capitals. You can check them out and get their Western Canadian Tour Dates on Instagram and on their Website. Hosted on Acast.
