💛 When Mother's Day Is Complicated: Hope for Women Who Had a Hard Mom

Mother's Day is beautiful for many women. But for some of you — it's complicated.Maybe you grew up with a mom who was harsh. Critical. Absent. Selfish. Or just simply not what you needed her to be. And every Mother's Day, while the world celebrates with flowers and brunch and sentimental cards — something inside you quietly aches. This episode is for you.Rhonda Stoppe takes us straight to one of the most disturbing mother-daughter stories in all of Scripture.Herodias.You may know her as the woman who demanded John the Baptist's head on a platter. But what you may not have considered is this —She didn't carry that platter herself. She sent her daughter to do it.Herodias was so consumed by her own bitterness, her own need for revenge, her own undealt-with sin — that she used her daughter Salome as a weapon. And in doing so, she robbed that girl of half a kingdom — and trained her to become just as vile as she was.It is one of the saddest mom stories in the entire Bible. And Rhonda refuses to leave you there.Because here is the truth that this episode builds to — the truth that Rhonda has watched transform women across decades of ministry:Having a bad mom does not mean you have to become one.In Christ — you can be the thread that changes everything in your family line. The one who says, the cycle ends with me.The one who chooses forgiveness — not because the pain wasn't real, not because what happened to you was okay — but because forgiveness is the first step to freedom. And freedom, friend, is exactly what God has for you.In this powerful episode you will discover:The shocking story of Herodias and what her revenge truly cost her daughterWhy confronting sin in love is one of the most caring things you can do — and how to do it wellThe truth about sexual immorality that every mom needs to speak boldly into her children's livesWhy walking in purity positions your children to make the most important decisions of their lives led by the Spirit of GodHow to forgive a mother who was harsh, abusive, or negligent — and why your freedom depends on itThe liberating truth that in Christ you are a new creation — fully equipped to break free from whatever you were raised withWhether you had a wonderful mom or a heartbreaking one — whether you are carrying wounds you have never spoken out loud or patterns you are terrified of repeating — this episode will meet you with grace, truth, and the hope that only comes from Jesus.Because in Him — your story does not have to look like hers.📚 Featured Book: Moms of the Bible: Life-Changing Lessons from the Fearless, Flawed and Faithful by Rhonda Stoppe🎙️ Find all Moms of the Bible chapter teachings FREE on Rhonda's YouTube Channel📩 Connect with Rhonda Thank you for joining us. 📖 People Over Possessions: Lot's Wife Teaches Us About What Really Matters

What would you grab if you had sixty seconds to leave your home forever? It's a question most of us have never had to answer. We did during the California Wildfires. And Lot's wife did too. And her answer — told not in words but in one devastating backward glance — cost her everything.Lot's wife had a home. A life. Possessions. A community she had built in Sodom. And when God said go — she couldn't resist one last look at everything she was leaving behind. And in that one moment of looking back, she was gone. Now before we shake our heads at Lot's wife — Rhonda wants us to look in the mirror first.Because if we're honest? We do it too.We look back at the comfort we've lost. The life we planned. Things we thought we deserved. Stuff we accumulated can quietly become more important than our obedience to God.And Rhonda's phrase for this episode will stay with you long after it's over —"People over possessions."IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL DISCOVER:The sobering story of Lot's wife and the one backward glance that changed everythingWhy God's command to not look back was about so much more than direction — it was about the condition of her heartThe powerful phrase Rhonda returns to again and again: "People over possessions"How our attachment to comfort, stuff, and security quietly competes with our obedience to GodThe liberating truth that when we choose people over possessions — we gain something no stuff could ever give usKEY SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:Genesis 19 — The story of Lot's wifeLuke 17:32 — "Remember Lot's wife" Matthew 6:19-21 — "Store up treasures in heaven"Luke 12:15 — "Life does not consist in an abundance of possessions"RHONDA'S KEY PHRASE FOR THIS EPISODE: "People over possessions."Write it on a sticky note. Eve's Perfect Life Wasn't Enough: Why "Just a Little Bit More" Will Destroy You

She had everything. A perfect marriage. A perfect body. Daily walks with God in paradise. Zero conflict, zero shame, zero struggle. So why did Eve reach for the one thing God said "no" to?In this raw and convicting episode, Rhonda Stoppe unpacks the devastating moment when the perfect woman made the not-so-perfect choice—and every mom since has been fighting the same battle. Because here's the uncomfortable truth: Satan's strategy with Eve is the exact same strategy he's using on you today.Rhonda reveals the five fatal steps that led to Eve's fall: she trusted herself, investigated the forbidden, questioned God's goodness, compromised truth, and isolated herself from protection. Sound familiar? Whether you're scrolling Instagram wondering why your life doesn't measure up, questioning whether God really has your best interests at heart, or thinking "just a little bit more" will finally make you happy—you're walking Eve's dangerous path. But this episode isn't just about Eve's failure. It's about Parenting 101 straight from God Himself. Discover how God approached Adam and Eve after their sin (hint: He didn't bark "Go to your room!") and learn how to shepherd your child's heart toward genuine repentance instead of just regret-because-they-got-caught.Rhonda vulnerably shares the story of a young man whose "harmless" root beer theft at age 5 became a life of crime by adulthood, and challenges moms to recognize their children's "bent" before sinful patterns become second nature. From lying to meanness to emotional manipulation, the habits you ignore today will define who your children become tomorrow.Plus: Why that mean woman at church didn't just become mean yesterday (and what you need to teach your daughters about hormones, blame, and marriage). The J.D. Rockefeller quote that explains why "just a little bit more" never satisfies. And the daily practice that will keep you from falling for Satan's half-truths when life gets hard.Godliness with contentment is great gain. Untriggered - For Moms Who Struggle with Anger_with Amber Lia

In this incredibly uplifting and informative conversation, UnTriggered author Amber Lia shares encouragement for every mom longing for freedom from anger and the self-condemnation that often accompanies it. This sixty-day devotional touches on heart issues like releasing comparison with other moms, becoming a results-free mom, resisting comparison of children, gaining confidence in listening to the Holy Spirit, embracing the gift of motherhood, and more. Packed with spiritual encouragement, UnTriggered also includes easy "put it into practice" steps.Quote: There is so much opportunity for hope to move forward. I mean, my kids, they I don't think they remember those early days at all when I was so triggered. You know, they don't remember who that mom even is. And I know that for some of us, our kids are older, but but first we have to allow God to forgive us. He is so gracious. He says in Psalm one zero three, he talks about how he remembers that we are but dust. And he looks he looks at us with compassion as a loving father, that our sins are as far as the east is from the west, he says. And so receiving that grace from the Lord and then being so full of that that it overflows for ourselves. The enemy's gonna want you to replay all of that. And that's when we just have to take those thoughts captive and say, nope. I'm clean. I'm forgiven. And all I can do now is the next right thing with my kids. I can make progress with them.I can bring healing, and I can pray through that and trust the Lord. But don't give up on it. It's never too late. There's never too much damage. There's nothing beyond God's healing hand. So do not despair.Find Untriggered Book and all of Find Untriggered and all of Amber Lia's resources mentioned in this episode at:AmberLia.comDON'T MISS THIS SPECIAL SALE PRICE: $1.99 EBOOK: MOMS RAISING SONS TO BE MEN Order and Please share this link with your friends.Thank you for joining us. Practical Ways to Bless Your Pastor with Rhonda Stoppe

Rhonda Stoppe has been a pastor's wife for more than 30 years. She's learned a few things along the way. With October being "Pastor Appreciation Month" it is tempting to think signing a card, adding a little money to donate toward the annual appreciation gift, but really that's not what your pastor wants from you. The sweetest way to encourage your pastor's shepherd heart is to live out your faith in a way that brings glory to Christ. To love him genuinely, consider how you might help support his family's financial needs, but more importantly, grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. With the sorrowful news of the moral failure of headline pastors, remember how much Satan wants to destroy the ministry of your minister. You can support him by diligently praying for him, for his marriage and for his children. Ask God to protect your pastor from Satan's schemes, and to guard his heart, mind and life. And finally, SHOW UP! Go to church. Take notes. Listen. Learn. Adjust your life to what your pastor is teaching you. Join small groups. Serve others - don't expect the pastor to do all the work. Use your gifts in your local church to support your church family. And walk in the joy of the Lord. Because the Joy of the Lord is your strength! You can buy a copy of Rhonda's ebook for Pastor's Wives and gift it to your pastor's wife as a devotional resource to help her in her unique ministry as Minister to the Minister. 10 Steps to Enjoy the Holidays Without Regrets

10 Steps to Enjoying the Holidays without RegretsRhonda Stoppe [00:00:00]:Today, we're gonna talk about an article that I wrote called 10 Steps to Enjoy the Holidays Without Regrets. Wow. How is it that the holidays are upon us? And they are. And not only the holidays, but I have 15 grandkids. Most of their birthdays are in the months of October, November, December. So we have so much fun over the next few months. Lots of family gatherings, lots of time together. Maybe you can relate.Rhonda Stoppe [00:00:29]:But sometimes, we can make decisions. We can interact in ways that When the family all goes home, we have some regrets. So today, we're gonna visit that topic, 10 steps to enjoy the holidays without regrets. Holidays with family can stir up all kinds of emotions. For some, it's a time of gift giving and thankful reflection. For others, It means stressful family gatherings or a grievous reminder that a loved one you have lost is no longer with you. As holidays approach, we can look at 10 steps that you can practice to help prepare to celebrate in ways that you will not have regrets. Number 1, realize the value of remembering God's faithfulness.Rhonda Stoppe [00:01:13]:In Joshua chapter 4, the Israelites were able to cross over the Jordan Because God stopped the waters. As they crossed, Joshua instructed leaders to pick up stones to build a monument to God's faithfulness. Although Israel had witnessed miracles, God knew their propensity to forget and yours and mine too. Right? So he instructed Joshua to pick up Stones from the very river that he'd stopped as a memorial to their children of his faithfulness. Not only was this monument To remind Israel of their descendants that they should fear the Lord forever, it would also serve as a Testimony to all the people of all the earth that he is the mighty one true god. Joshua 4:1 through 24 is where you'll find that story. God's works We're not only for Israel, they were also a way of making his name known to all the nations. Remember when the spies entered Jericho and Rahab the harlot hid them? She said this.Rhonda Stoppe [00:02:16]:I love this. I know the Lord has given you the land, That the terror of you has fallen on us and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you, For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you. That's Joshua 29. I'm sorry. 29 through 11. When God shows up in mighty ways, it builds our faith. Right? We should learn from God's instructions to remind Selves, our children, our grandchildren, and the watching world that god is the one true god. This holiday season, do not forget the miraculous way that God intervened into the affairs of men to establish our great nation.Rhonda Stoppe [00:03:01]:This Christmas, remember how he gave his son to save us from our sins. Let's move on. Number 2, Expect something will not go as planned. For 1 holiday meal, I made the sweet potatoes that I make every year. And after I placed the marshmallows on the top of them and I popped them into the oven, I forgot. I got distracted, and, of course, the marshmallows burned to a crispThank you for joining us.
