We want to create a church that unchurched and dechurched people loved to attend. A place where people can ask questions about faith and take a second look at God. We believe that just like Jesus, the local church should be irresistible. We want to see our friends and neighbors connect or reconnect with God.

Week #2: Intimacy with God
BIG IDEA: For most people, their relationship with God feels weird and awkward. But God wants a relationship with them that is close, inspiring, and transformative. We all have relationships that feel weird. Awkward. Uncomfortable. We don’t necessarily want them to be that way, but they are. You struggle to communicate and gain the cooperation of your child. You’ve never felt close to your parents, but you wish they would express interest in you. You’ve drifted away from a close relationship with a friend. And for a lot of people, this same distance characterizes their relationship with God.

Move Towards the Mess
Jesus told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. But that’s easier said than done. Which people qualify as neighbors, and which don’t? How far does our responsibility to others extend? If we make the effort to move toward the messes in other people’s lives, how inconvenient is too inconvenient? How unsafe is too unsafe? How dangerous is too dangerous? What are the limits to loving others as we love ourselves?

Keep Climbing
There is something about a mountain that exposes what is really inside of us. At the bottom, everything feels possible. The energy is high, the goal is clear, and the excitement is real. But somewhere in the middle of the climb, when your legs burn, your lungs scream, and there is still more mountain ahead, the real test begins.Life works the same way. Faith feels easier when everything is going well, but what happens when life gets steep? What happens when the marriage is hard, anxiety will not leave, prayers seem unanswered, grief lingers, or obedience does not make life easier?
-

Before You Climb
Life is filled with uphill climbs. Some are physical, but most are spiritual, emotional, relational, or financial. We all start the race with excitement, but what happens when the climb gets steep? What do we do when we're tired, discouraged, tempted to quit, or wondering if all our effort is worth it? The book of Hebrews was written to believers facing those same questions. They were tempted to stop running. Stop believing. Stop following. Hebrews reminds us that God isn't looking for people who start strong; He's looking for people who finish well.THE BIG IDEA: To finish the race, run by faith.

Cancel
We all know what it is like to subscribe to something without fully using it. We pay for memberships, apps, plans, and services that quietly stay connected to our lives even when we barely engage with them. But this message pushes that idea deeper. Sometimes the most expensive subscriptions are not the ones on our bank accounts; they are the ones on our hearts.Comfort, control, approval, success, money, fear, and security can quietly shape the way we think, live, give, serve, and follow Jesus. In Matthew 19, Jesus meets a young man who had done a lot right, but still had one thing holding first place in his heart. Jesus did not expose it to shame him. He exposed it to free him. The same invitation is offered to us: “Come, follow Me.”THE BIG IDEA: Some subscriptions are costing you more than money.

The One Who Is Enough
Most of us spend our lives trying to prove we are enough—working harder, doing more, comparing constantly, and exhausting ourselves in the process. We think if we can just achieve a little more, fix a little more, or become a little more, then we’ll finally feel secure. But the harder we try, the more we realize something is still missing. What if the problem isn’t that you’re not trying hard enough—but that you were never meant to be enough on your own? What if freedom doesn’t come from improving yourself, but from surrendering to the One who already is enough?THE BIG IDEA: The truth is we will never be ENOUGH, so we must run to the ONE who is our ENOUGH.
-
684
Enough of Me
Most of us don’t just think we’re not enough—we live like it. We push harder, stay busier, compare more, and numb out just to cope with the pressure of trying to measure up. On the outside, it can look like success, strength, or control. But underneath, it’s often exhaustion, insecurity, and fear of falling short. What if the problem isn’t your effort—but your belief? What if the way you live is directly connected to what you believe about yourself, God, and what it means to be “enough”? This message exposes how the lies we believe don’t just stay in our heads—they shape our habits, our relationships, and our entire way of life. And until we change what we believe, we’ll keep living the same patterns.THE BIG IDEA: Our behavior follows our beliefs.
-
683
Enough of the Lies
Many of us live with a quiet, persistent voice in our heads: “You’re not enough.” Not good enough. Not smart enough. Not attractive enough. Not successful enough. These thoughts don’t just pass through—they shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and even how we relate to God.The problem is, those thoughts feel true. But what if they’re not? What if the voice you’ve been listening to isn’t telling the truth at all? Scripture reveals that there is a real enemy whose goal is to distort your identity, steal your confidence, and separate you from God’s truth.THE BIG IDEA: In order to fight the lies, you have to know the truth!

Jesus Went Out Of His Way For Someone Like You
She came to the well hiding from everyone—she left running toward everyone. What happens when Jesus meets someone drowning in regret and shame and offers her a second chance instead of a second judgment.THE BIG IDEA: Jesus doesn’t condemn you, but he reveals your shame to redeem you.
-
681
You Are Not Too Far Gone For God
Have you ever wondered if your past—what you’ve done or what’s been done to you—disqualifies you from being truly known and loved? Jesus sees you fully and deeply and still calls you to follow him. Like Matthew, you’re invited to leave behind what’s broken and step into a life filled with love, purpose, and belonging. Jesus is someone worth losing everything for—because in him, you gain what truly matters.THE BIG IDEA: God doesn’t love you because you change. You change because God loves you.
-

When Jesus Doesn't Make Sense
Have you ever had someone try to tell you how to live your life when they didn’t really know you? Maybe it was advice about your work, your family, or even your relationships—and your first thought was, “Who are you to tell me that?” Now imagine if the person giving that advice was Jesus. What would you do if he stepped into your everyday life and asked you to trust him in ways that didn’t make sense?THE BIG IDEA: Trust opens the door to encounter.

Why Trying Harder Won’t Save You
Most people assume following Jesus is about being good enough, trying harder, or checking the right spiritual boxes. But what if the real invitation of Jesus isn’t about improvement—it’s about rebirth? In a late-night conversation with a religious leader, Jesus introduces a concept that still confuses and transforms people today: being born again. This is an invitation to stop striving and experience the fresh start and new heart only the Holy Spirit can give.THE BIG IDEA: You need a Savior to save you, not a system to heal you.

The Resurrection--It's Essential
There are a lot of things Christians argue about—creation, the Bible, heaven and hell, politics, morality—but what if most of those aren’t the main thing? What if we’ve made secondary issues primary and missed the one thing everything hinges on?The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just another belief—it’s the foundation. If it didn’t happen, Christianity collapses. But if it did, then it demands a response from every one of us. This message forces us to wrestle with the most important question of our lives: Did Jesus really rise from the dead—and what does that mean for me?
-
677
Politics and the Church
It feels like everything today is louder, faster, and more divided than ever. Opinions aren’t just ideas anymore—they’ve become identities. Conversations turn into conflicts. Disagreement feels like rejection. And as followers of Jesus, we feel the tension: What hill am I actually standing on? Because it’s possible to be right about something… and completely wrong in spirit. And if we’re not careful, we’ll spend our lives fighting on hills… that Jesus never climbed.
-
676
Who Needs the Church?
It’s one of the most common statements in our culture today: “I believe in Jesus… I just don’t need the church.” It sounds reasonable. You can pray anywhere. You can read your Bible at home. You can stream sermons anytime. So why bother with messy people, busy schedules, and imperfect communities? But what if following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey? Scripture consistently paints a different picture: a body, a family, a team. The question isn’t, “Can you follow Jesus alone?” The question is, “Did Jesus ever intend for you to try?”THE BIG IDEA: Salvation comes through Christ alone, but He never meant for you to walk alone.

The Art of Staying in Love
Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is not. Most marriages don’t collapse overnight—they slowly drift. Couples begin revolving around careers, kids, and responsibilities instead of each other. Somewhere along the way, two people who once couldn’t wait to be together begin simply sharing space. One of the biggest lies we believe is this: If I fall in love, then I will stay in love. But love doesn’t sustain itself. It must be nurtured, protected, and pursued. So are you coasting—or are you cultivating?THE BIG IDEA: You can fall in love overnight, but it takes a lifetime to stay in love.
-
674
The Art of Conflict
Most couples believe conflict is the problem—when in reality, avoiding conflict is far more dangerous. Every relationship fights. The real question isn’t if you will fight, but how. Unresolved conflict, unmet expectations, and self-centered reactions slowly erode intimacy and trust. Left unchecked, small issues become deep wounds.Conflict is not a sign of a bad marriage—but mishandled conflict can destroy a good one. Learning to fight God’s way can actually deepen love, build trust, and restore intimacy rather than damage it.THE BIG IDEA: We all fight, but how we fight determines the strength of our marriage.
-
673
The Art of Intimacy
In our culture, sex sells everything from cars to carbonated drinks, from bran flakes to boats. Our society promotes sexuality as more fantasy than reality. Few areas in our marriage lug as much baggage as sex. Expectations are at an all-time high. Husbands expect their wives to be a Victoria's Secret models. Wives expect Casanova to sweep her off her feet. With such great expectations, both could end up being disappointed. At the same time, any meaningful conversation on the subject generally gets pushed aside by dirty dishes, kids, work, and responsibilities. It's easier just to pull the covers over the exasperation. While the world creates expectations based on fantasy, God created great expectations based on reality. The Author of sex knows exactly how it should be enjoyed - and He never meant for us to be in the dark. He desires for us to be fulfilled with our deepest sexual needs, not frustrated.THE BIG IDEA: The best sex is with the right person at the right time.

672
The Art of Dating
Most relationships don’t fall apart overnight—they fade slowly. Passion cools, routines replace romance, and pursuit turns into autopilot. Many couples assume attraction should be automatic and lasting, while singles often confuse intensity with intimacy. God’s Word tackles both assumptions. The reality is that pursuit doesn’t end at marriage, and chemistry alone can’t sustain love. Are we still intentionally pursuing the person we say we love—or have we stopped doing what once made the relationship come alive?THE BIG IDEA: Pursue your spouse every single day, because what is won can be lost.
-
671
The Art of Attraction
Our culture tells us attraction is mostly physical, instant, and driven by chemistry. When attraction fades, people assume something is wrong and move on. But Scripture paints a much deeper picture. But maybe we should rethink what really draws people together—and what actually keeps love alive. Attraction isn’t something you chase, but something you cultivate. Attraction is about becoming the person God wants you to be and allowing God to bring to you the kind of person He knows is best for you.THE BIG IDEA: Marriage is not about finding the right person as it is becoming the right person.

Endure
Most of us think endurance means pushing harder, staying quiet, and carrying our struggles alone. We admirestrength, independence, and self-sufficiency—but over time, that mindset quietly drains us. Isolation feelsnoble at first, but it eventually leaves us exhausted, discouraged, and overwhelmed. One of the most dangerousis, “I should be strong enough to handle this on my own.” But endurance was never meant to be built inisolation. God designed the race of faith to be run together—supported by community, strengthened byencouragement, and sustained by shared hope. If you’ve been trying to endure silently? Stop running alone.THE BIG IDEA: Endurance isn’t a solo act—it’s something we grow in and sustain together.
-
669
Refined
Most of us assume that when life gets uncomfortable, something has gone wrong. We interpret pressure and pain as signs of failure—or even God’s absence. But Scripture tells a different story. What if the heat you’re experiencing isn’t punishment or neglect, but intentional refinement? Let’s reconsider our suffering—not as something to escape, but as something God may be using to shape us. If you’ve ever asked, “Why is this happening to me?”, then this message is for you.THE BIG IDEA: God refines what He intends to reflect.
-
668
Meditate
Many of us say we want to hear God’s voice and live with purpose—but we rarely slow down long enough to listen. Our lives are filled with noise, distractions, productivity, and pressure to perform. We read Scripture quickly (if at all), check a box, and move on—then wonder why God feels distant. But knowing God’s Word is not about more knowledge, but a deeper, slower practice that helps move God’s Word from the page into our hearts. If you’ve ever said, “I don’t get much out of the Bible,” then maybe you should meditate.THE BIG IDEA: When we meditate, we hear the Word of God speak.
-
667
My One Word
Every life tells a story—and one day, someone else will tell yours. The uncomfortable truth is that legacies aren’t built at the end of life; they’re formed by the daily choices we make right now. Most of us want to be remembered as loving, faithful, generous, or godly—but few of us are intentionally living that way today.THE BIG IDEA: Start living today how you want to be remembered tomorrow.

Made For More
There’s something about the week between Christmas and the New Year. Life slows down just enough for us to notice what we usually avoid: regret, disappointment, unfinished goals, and quiet fears about the future. Many of us look back on the past year and see what didn’t happen, where we failed, or where we settled. But what if God sees something very different? What if this season isn’t about reviewing what went wrong—but about remembering who you are and what God is still doing? The powerful truth is, you were made for more, and God is still at work in your life.THE BIG IDEA: You were made for more—because God is not finished with you.

A Charlie Brown Christmas
Christmas is supposed to be joyful—but for many people, it quietly magnifies feelings of rejection, inadequacy, and brokenness. While the world celebrates what’s shiny, successful, and put-together, many of us feel more like the Charlie Brown tree: overlooked, criticized, or not enough. We wonder if God only works through the impressive and the polished—or if He still has room for the weak, the worn, and the unwanted.

It’s a Wonderful Life: Searching for Hope
In the movie It’s A Wonderful Life, George Bailey has given up on his dreams and is ready to end his life untilan angel named Clarence shows up and tries to give hope to George by showing him all the lives that he hastouched along the way, and shows George how different his community would be if George had not been born. What if Jesus had never been born? How different would our world, our culture, and our history be if Jesus hadnever existed? Let’s look at Jesus’ impact on human history.THE BIG IDEA: Jesus didn’t just come to change history. He came to change your history.

Die Hard: Searching for Reconciliation
For many people, Christmas feels less like “peace on earth” and more like an attack on the Nakatomi building. Emotional chaos, stress, broken relationships, anxiety, grief, financial pressure, and hidden struggles can make this season overwhelming. We assume God only shows up when life is calm and put together—but the Christmas story reminds us that God steps into the mess, the fear, and the broken places to rescue us.THE BIG IDEA: Christmas is the story of God entering our chaos to rescue us.
-
662
Christmas Vacation: Searching for a Family
Jesus had some knots and nuts on His family tree, just like you and me. Could the Savior of the world be descended from liars, adulterers, criminals, prostitutes, and murderers? Absolutely. And that’s what makes God’s promise of grace even more amazing.THE BIG IDEA: Jesus came from messed up people for messed up people.

You Get What You Deserve
We live in a world that thrives on fairness—“You get what you deserve.” If you do good, you should be rewarded. If you mess up, you should pay the price. But when it comes to our relationship with God, that idea breaks down. Because if we truly got what we deserve, none of us could stand before Him. The message of Jesus turns this whole system upside down: the innocent died for the guilty so that the guilty could be declared innocent. Grace is not about fairness--it’s about freedom. It’s not earned; it’s given. And when guilt says, “You get what you deserve,” Jesus says, “Today, you’re Mine.”THE BIG IDEA: Guilt says, “You get what you deserve.” Jesus says, “Today you’re mine.”

Everyday Will Be a Good Day
Have you ever felt like following Jesus should make life easier—but it hasn’t? Maybe you’ve done everything right, yet things still fall apart: you lose your job, your health fails, a relationship breaks down. It’s easy to think, “I tried Jesus, and it didn’t work.” The problem isn’t that Jesus failed us—it’s that we sometimes expect Him to promise things He never did. Jesus never said life would be comfortable. He never promised health, wealth, or hassle-free living. Instead, He told us that in this world we will have trouble—but that we can still have peace, because He has overcome the world.BIG IDEA: A faith that has been tested is a faith that can be trusted.

God Wants You Happy
Everyone wants to be happy. It’s built into us. But the problem comes when our pursuit of happiness leads us away from holiness. Culture tells us, “Do what makes you happy,” but Jesus never said that. He didn’t die on the cross to make us comfortable—He came to make us holy, whole, and free. When we chase happiness at all costs, we settle for momentary pleasure instead of eternal purpose. This week, we’ll look at one of the most powerful stories in Scripture—when Jesus meets a woman caught in adultery—and discover that the path to true joy is not through self-gratification but through surrender and grace.THE BIG IDEA: Holiness is the pathway to true happiness and joy.

658
You Don’t Need to Forgive Them
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult commands Jesus ever gave—and one of the most freeing. Yet, many of us carry deep pain caused by others’ betrayal, lies, or abuse. Forgiveness sounds great until it’s our wound that needs healing. Jesus challenges our assumptions and excuses about forgiveness. He never said, “You don’t need to forgive them.” In fact, He taught that forgiveness is not optional—it’s essential for our own freedom. So how do we forgive the unforgivable? And why would God ask us to?THE BIG IDEA: Forgiveness for those who hurt you may not change them, but it always changes you.

Sun Stand Still Prayers
We often pray small, safe prayers—but what if God is inviting us to pray bold, audacious ones? In Joshua 10, Joshua faces an impossible battle, yet he prays one of the boldest prayers in all of Scripture: “Sun, stand still.” It’s a prayer so big that, if God didn’t answer, Joshua would look foolish. But that’s exactly the kind of faith that honors God—faith that believes He can do what only He can do.THE BIG IDEA: God takes full responsibility for the life wholly devoted to Him.

The Victory March
We all face problems in life—walls that feel too big to climb and battles that seem impossible to win. Today, we find God giving His people one of the strangest battle plans in history: march, stay silent, blow horns, and shout. No swords. No siege. Just obedience and faith. Before the walls of Jericho ever fell, the victory was already secured—because God had declared it. This story reminds us that when we follow God’s plan, even when it doesn’t make sense, the victory is won before the battle begins.THE BIG IDEA: When we follow God’s plan, the victory is won before the battle has begun.

655
Get Your Feet Wet
We want God to do it all. We want God to do it all so that we won’t have to do nothing. But God will only move inharmony with how we obey. God doesn’t speak until we start moving to obey. God doesn’t show us our next step to take until we step out and obey. We want God to show up and move for us. We want Him to obey for us. But that would alleviate our part in this process, because God only hits a moving target.THE BIG IDEA: God won’t move to save until you move to obey.

Replace Yourself
Everything—even good things—have to come to an end. The death of Moses left a huge hole in the hearts of God’s people. Yet even though Moses is dead and gone, Moses did some very intentional things to make sure that his leadership left a legacy, long after he was pushing up daises. Moses replaced himself long before he ever died, so that God’s work never missed a beat.THE BIG IDEA: Leaving a legacy involves replacing ourselves with Faithful, available, & teachable people.

Grasshopper Thinking
Have you ever been so close to something amazing, only to walk away because you were too scared? Israel was just eleven days away from the land God had promised them—but they spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness. Why? Because fear, excuses, and small thinking kept them from stepping into God’s best. Many of us settle for “good enough” instead of risking for “God’s best.” Are we content living on the edge of God’s promises rather than trusting Him fully to enter in?BIG IDEA: Grasshopper Thinking is when we allow attitudes and problems to cause us to doubt what God can do.

Approaching God with Awe
Has God ever felt distant, as if something is blocking your connection with Him? Or maybe God feels distant even when you’re trying to do all the right things. You’re not alone. A truth that we sometimes overlook: What’s often missing isn’t more effort, but a reverent awe and worship of God.THE BIG IDEA: A shallow view of God produces a shallow life. Awe of God is the key to meeting with God.

Proud Owner of a Hard Heart
We often think of a “hard heart” as something only villains in the Bible had—like Pharaoh. But the truth is, a hardened heart can happen to any of us. Every time we know what God wants us to do but refuse to do it, our hearts grow a little harder. Pharaoh’s story in Exodus reveals a dangerous progression: stubbornness, pride, and resistance to God lead to devastating consequences. The good news is that God longs to soften our hearts and give us a new spirit. The question is—are we willing to let Him?THE BIG IDEA: Our heart becomes hardened when we know what to do but don’t do it.

Desert Training
Have you ever wondered why life feels so dry, empty, or stalled—as if God hit the pause button on yourpurpose? Desert seasons are confusing and lonely, and they often make us question if God has forgotten us. But what if the desert isn’t punishment, but preparation? What if the emptiness you feel is the very place where God is trying to speak the loudest?Moses spent 40 years in obscurity before he ever heard God's voice from a burning bush. Sometimes the desert feels like wasted time, but it’s actually where God is shaping you for what’s next.THE BIG IDEA: Don’t shortcut the desert, because that’s the place where God speaks.
-
648
Puffed Up Somebodies
Have you ever felt like you needed to make things happen—because if you didn’t, nothing would? Sometimeswhen we see an opportunity or feel a calling, we push forward in our own strength, on our own timeline, and byour own methods. That’s exactly what Moses did in the first half of his life. He was highly educated, powerful, and destined for leadership—yet when he rushed God's plan, he ended up running for his life and hiding in thedesert. We all have that temptation to take a “God idea” and carry it out with “me-driven” timing. But when we do, we often leave behind wreckage, regrets, and covered-up consequences. So, how do we avoid getting ahead of God? And what can we learn from Moses’ failure and God’s grace?THE BIG IDEA: When you’re full of self, there’s no room for God to move.

Behind the Scenes God
God is involved in the events of our lives–both the big and the small. Hard times don’t remove God’s promises, harsh treatment doesn’t escape God’s attention, and heavy tests don’t overshadow God’s concern.THE BIG IDEA: God is involved in the events of our lives– both big and small.

Not Learning
If the student doesn't learn, you can always expect the teacher to repeat the lesson. That's what God's doing when He repeats Himself to Jonah. Why? Because Jonah still isn’t learning.THE BIG IDEA: Legalism whispers, “They don’t deserve a turnaround.” Grace shouts, “Neither did you.”
-
645
Stop
Have you ever got turned around and started going the wrong way? All of us have sometime in life. It takes someone to get us to stop and have a turnaround for us to quit going in a downward spiral.THE BIG IDEA: God’s correction isn’t rejection it’s redirection.
-

Wrong Way
We've all experienced situations where things weren't going well and we needed a turnaround. From one of the most infamous stories in the Bible, we'll discover the key to navigating a successful turnaround, regardless of what we’re facing.THE BIG IDEA: God allows turnarounds for everyone going the wrong way.

The Lord is My Shepherd
Life can often feel chaotic, uncertain, and exhausting. In a world that constantly pushes us to strive harder, perform better, and control everything, the image of a Shepherd quietly and faithfully leading His sheep is easy to overlook. Yet, Psalm 23 presents a radically different picture of God—not as a distant ruler, but as an intimate Shepherd who provides, protects, and personally cares for us. When was the last time you allowed God to shepherd you—not just to believe in Him, but to let Him lead you, guide you, protect you, and provide rest? If you’re tired, anxious, or wondering if God sees you? Then this Psalm is for you.THE BIG IDEA: You can trust the Shepherd.

Amazing Grace
What if someone really knew the real you? Not the polished version you show the world—but your deepest flaws, struggles, mistakes, and shame. Would they still love you? Now take that question even deeper: If God knew the real me, would He still want me? Many of us live under the weight of guilt and the fear of being "found out." But what if the very things you think disqualify you are the places where God wants to meet you with grace?THE BIG IDEA: God knows absolutely everything about you—and still wants everything to do with you.
