Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 350: A Multiple of 50…
Usually, a multiple of 50 would be cause to celebrate. Just not feeling it this time around. See you at 400; FYI, it will also be our 20th anniversary…Slick Watch Video on YouTube Subscribe on YouTube Subscribe on Spotify Subscribe to the RSS Subscribe through Apple Podcasts Subscribe through...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 349: I Think This Might Be the Shortest Show in Years …
I’ll keep this one short like the show. Here are my favorites. Finally, Two Bad, but unfortunately, it’s too bad. A new size comparison shot of the Thunder Machine makes it much more appealing. I haven’t seen the short yet, but an evil Bumblebee with a fusion cannon? Yes please. And Star Wars...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 348: The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same…
I’m watching the 1962 Cape Fear as I write this. It’s crazy how much is the same. Especially compared to the latest series made almost 65 years later. I’ve been watching a ton of documentaries and period piece shows. A lot of 70s and 90s stuff. Major themes, story lines, and most importantly,...
-
Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 347: It’s Friday, Friday…
It’s a rare Friday with some time off before a long weekend, so I said what the heck. If it’s good enough for Rebecca Black, it’s good enough for me. Watching the documentary about George Romero’s Resident Evil. Never heard of it? Me neither, but that’s the great thing about having a curator. In...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 345: SDCC 2026…
Holy moly. That was a whole lot of SDCC. Even down two regular hosts, but with one very special guest host, we barely got through the four franchises. The Other category had some great stuff we’ll get to in the next show. But, man, SDCC never ceases to impress. Of course, that’s the whole point,...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 344: Inundated with SDCC…
The news has been coming fast and furious. For the first time, I find myself glad that I’m not there. I think I have relegated myself to our nice small (80k people) local con. It is making me appreciate people like Pixel Dan even more. The fact that they’re still at it, doing walkthroughs and […]...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 343: Accomplishments, I’ve Had a Few…
I can finally do something I haven’t been able to do in 15 years, touch all 4 walls of my Site B. I’ve been seriously hitting it hard for 6 months. It now contains over 30 cataloged 27-gallon black and yellows, almost 30 “sell” tubs that have been refilled for a second time, and a […] The post…

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 340: Let Con Season, Begin…
Our biggest local con starts today, Fan Expo Denver. Over the past 10+ years, it has become a juggernaut. Some highlights this year, for me at least, include a pretty comprehensive Scream and Goonies reunion, most of the cast of The Boys, all the Hobbits, and a huge amount of voice actors,...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 339: Deals vs Low Ballers…
I’ve really come to love eBay, even more than I did when all I mostly did was buy stuff. It’s so transactional. Here’s my price, pay it or move on. I do entertain offers, especially for multiple purchases. However, most of the time, I just tell people to kick rocks until I lower the price. […]…

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 338: Happy Revenge of the 5th…
I completely Star Warsed myself out yesterday. If you’re in the group or follow me, you probably got a lot of spam about what I was watching all day. However, as I write this, I’m watching the third Family Guy Star Wars special, It’s a Trap. Why? I have mild OCD and must finish a […] The post…

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks at Slick McFavorite Toys. I sold at my favorite toy show this weekend. As always, I had a great time. Got to see guys I’ve seen, bought from, and sold to for almost 20 years. I had great neighbors this year. He and his wife were amazing to […] The post Open Your...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 336: Slick McSpiller…
We got a crazy late start on this show. This was due to a small spill of vodka on the corner of my laptop, no big deal. I’ve had spills before. Did all the right stuff, shut down, tent to drain, wait at least 24 hours. Powered up the next day, huge display issue, freak […] The post Open Your Toys...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 334: Toy Fair 2026…
It’s that time of year again. While we’re not back to the golden age of New York Toy Fair, this year’s was pretty impressive. The big two represented relatively well, even if the four greatest franchises ranged from amazing to mediocre. As always, the Others had some great reveals. I gotta say…

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 332: Dedication…
If you haven’t noticed yet, I get pretty “dedicated” to things. I think that’s evident in doing this show for almost 18 years now. The show’s tagline even begins with dedicated. Most people would call it obsessive. However, I’ve never really appreciated the negative connotation of that word. This...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 331: So, So…
How are your resolutions going? For me? See the title of this post. Making progress in some regards, but stuck in ruts with others. I think that’s why I don’t necessarily make “resolutions”. I know what I need to fix in my life, and I try to make changes with the new year. I’ve stopped […] The…

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 329: In a Blink of an Eye…

It’s crazy out there right now. After the amazing Target Days sale on toys, now Ross Con has kicked into high gear. NYCC and Walmart Collector Con just dropped. People are finding amazing things out there left and right. We’ve been saying this for quite a while, but there’s too much stuff coming...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 324: Too Much Stuff…
I finally got through all the stuff in my garage to sell. I should be really excited, but unfortunately, it was actually anxiety-inducing. For the first time, I got a full understanding of the extent of my collection. In two words? It’s ridiculous. I still have a shed to go through, which I hope...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 323: The Ebb and Flow…
It seems that most things in life, including life itself, are cyclical. At almost 50 years old, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness some of the longer cycles, such as politics, finance, and fashion. You would think shorter cycles would be easier to recognize. However, even some of those have...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 322: Dead Podcasters Society…
While we don’t meet in a cave or have expectations of legacy to uphold, the struggle is real. We have bills to pay, people we love, and something that unifies us. That thing can be exhilarating, discouraging, and even debilitating at times. What great hobby doesn’t have at least some of these...

I’m not talking for work or even pleasure. What do you do when you don’t want to do something? You know, how do you procrastinate? I’ve talked about what I do ad nauseam. I do it primarily because I procrastinate a lot. Things get done, life moves on. I’m just curious if this is normal? […] The...

As soon as I start really doing well, I always seem to fall back into bad habits. It’s tough to have positive and negative triggers. Have a tough day, trigger. Have a great day, trigger. Have a blah day, trigger. I can say that at least I have begun to recognize my triggers. Unfortunately…

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 315: Collecting for Over 25 Years…
My favorite team in my favorite sport has made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. That’s something they haven’t done since 2000. Man, looks like con season has already started. During the last show, we talked Toy Fair, Collector Con, Zolocon, Revealed, and more. This time around, we have new Hasbro Fanstreams, TFCon, Haulathon, and SDCC reveals. I guess it’s officially con season. Since I don’t go to any national cons...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 311: Toy Fair 2025…
I am so happy that Toy Fair is back. Not a virtual or later-in-the-year one, but an actual Toy Fair! There were tons of new toys to get excited about from all four franchises. However, there was nothing I couldn’t live without. Is it progress on my addiction or simply burnout? Stuff will still go...

Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 307: New Year, New Me, Maybe…
How many times have I said it? Is it real this time? I don’t really have an option anymore. It’s either going to be real or there’s going to be a big problem. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not the holidays, the sales. Oh my god, there have been so many sales. And, they have been amazing this year. Open Your Toys Cast – Episode 305: Better Call a Wambulance…
Lil Ms. McFavorite is in a phase where she whines constantly. She whines when we ask her to do something, when we tell her we’re going somewhere, basically anytime we bring something up, that doesn’t make her 100% happy. It’s almost comical at this point. It drives both Mrs. McFavorite and me a...
