Why We Remember
If you wish to read this at your school, or your remembrance day ceremony, please go ahead. If you could pop me a note to let me know, that would be appreciated. Why we remember To remember not only the fallen, but the sacrifices made by the living who have experienced horrors which are simply beyond the comprehension of the unindoctrinated. To acknowledge the sacrifice made by the families of the fallen, and of all those who have served and who are still serving. Because nobody ever truly comes home from War. Only a version of yourself returns. A haunted version, whose very soul has been irreversibly stained by the realization that Satan is in fact real, and he does indeed cajole decent people into doing awful things. It’s the understanding of how unspeakably horrible one person can be to another. War forever taints’ you. Witnessing a flagrant disregard for the sanctity of life is not something you can unsee. It is this stain which affects every aspect of your civilian life, often for the rest of your life. We remember our soldiers because they bear a terrible burden, so that others will never have to carry the painful weight of freedom. To acknowledge the privilege we enjoy, of living in a peaceful country where our children can safely walk to school without the fear of their school being bombed. We remember, because we acknowledge that we can’t ever fully appreciate the sacrifices, so we remember in lieu of understanding. We remember, because it’s the best we can do, and the least we should do to honor our Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen both past and present. We remember, because they likely know the unforgettable smell of burning human flesh, and the sound of the screams of the burning. We remember them, because they can not forget. We remember, because the survivors often struggle from debilitating depression, relentless nightmares, and uncontrollable anger. We remember because Veterans are at a much higher risk of suicide. We remember them, because many of them can never find peace. We remember them, because we don’t carry the burden of becoming them. On November the 11th, we will remove our hats, stand for our two minutes of silence, and we will remember them.

Ep# 320. General Wayne Eyre, Chief of Defense Staff
The Commander of the entire Canadian Military joined me for a crucial discussion about Mental Health, and culture in the CAF. General Wayne Eyre has committed to clean up the culture in the CAF. We had a heartfelt conversation about how things were, how they are, and how they need to be. Please share your thoughts on our conversation, and PLEASE help to save lives by sharing this episode. Wayne Eyre - Wikipedia Eyre was commissioned into the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 1988.[3] In 1993 Eyre, who was a captain at the time, was deployed to Croatia as part of the United Nations Protection Force. He took part in Operation Medak Pocket in which he commanded a reconnaissance platoon, which witnessed the aftermath of ethnic cleansing in the village of Lički Čitluk.[9] He became commanding officer of the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 2004.[10] He went on to become commander of 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in 2009 and,[3] after that, Deputy Commanding General of Operations for the United States Army's XVIII Airborne Corps in 2012, in which role he was deployed to Afghanistan.[10] He was appointed General Officer Commanding 3rd Canadian Division and Joint Task Force West in 2014.[10] In May 2018,[11] Eyre became the first non-American to serve as deputy commander of the United Nations Command in South Korea.[11][3][12][13] He was succeeded by Vice Admiral Stuart Mayer of the Royal Australian Navy in June 2019, and returned to Canada as Commander Military Personnel Command.[14] On July 12, 2019, it was announced Eyre would be appointed the commander of the Canadian Army, effective from August 20.[14][15] Eyre was appointed acting chief of the Defence Staff on February 24, 2021, following the stepping aside of Admiral Art McDonald pending an investigation by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service.[16][17][18] He was promoted to full general on August 13, 2021[19] and appointed as the official Chief of Defence Staff on November 25, 2021.[20] Eyre was made a Commander of the United States' Legion of Merit on April 24, 2021.[4] He had previously been appointed as an officer of the American order while a brigadier-general in 2015 and,[21] in 2020, was awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster (second award) to the Legion of Merit.[22] On March 15, 2022, Eyre, along with 313 other Canadians, was banned from entering Russia, in protest of the Government of Canada's opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[23]

Ep. #317. Harmonic Egg, Kathleen, Harmonic Wellness Centre
Don't quit. Keep trying. You have NOT "tried it all". I have not found every healing modality with promise, so I doubt you have tried more than I have found so far. OTR is all about finding a better mouse trap. If Theo Fleury is a fan of the Harmonic Egg, that's good enough for me. He's spent over 1M on different therapies, so he knows what works and what does not.

ABOUT THIS SHOW
Become a Paid Subscriber: https://anchor.fm/tango-romeo/subscribeThe Trauma Recovery Podcast for #Military, #Veterans, #First Responders, and their families. #PTSD Recovery is a tough road, and it can not be travelled alone. Here is how OTR helps. 1. Listening to the show is a form of peer support. Hearing stories from people who have been there, done that...just like you , is a POWERFUL thing. Knowing you are not alone IS healing. 2. There are a LOT of resources out there. I find the resources, and bring them to the show.3. Know that you are NOT alone
