Or will we both share the moment in silence Holding each other Welcome me home Home to your heart You’ve’ kept the candle alight in the wind now Since we’ve been apart Time may have past Nothing has changed Baby we’ll soon be together again Holding onto forever The look in your eyes The day that I left Has been haunting me with every single breath Well it won’t be long Cause I’m on my way Baby this time in your arms I’m gonna stay But I just can’t conceal All the love that I feel Or when I think of the times that we spent Without each other Welcome me home Home to your heart You’ve’ kept the candle alight in the wind now Since we’ve been apart Time may have past Nothing has changed Baby we’ll soon be together again Holding onto forever Time may have past Nothing has changed Baby we’ll soon be together again Holding onto forever Notes from Jeff / About Nick Trevesick: Nick and I first met when he was an Island writer in LA. How Did You Slip Away
Time is precious. Moments come... and slip away. Love. Life. People. Dreams. We lose them to time, war, pollution... disease. Some things we can’t control. But we can choose to *feel*, to *remember*, and to *care*. This is not just a love song. It’s a reminder... of everything we’re trying to hold on to. HOW DID YOU SLIP AWAY Words and Music by: Jeff Silverman So Look It Music (ASCAP) ©1985 Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards, Bass, Drums - Produced, Engineered, Mixed and Re-Mastered by: Jeff Silverman Palette Music • Studio • Productions, Nashville / Mt. Innocence Of Love - Jeff Silverman - Average Joe (2024)
INNOCENCE OF LOVE is one of my never-released artist songs, originally written and recorded in the early 80’s, now remastered and recently placed in the movie AVERAGE JOE (The Unwavering True Story), courtesy of GPS Songs. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie, this song plays a pivotal role, accompanying a tender scene portraying “love at first sight” between Joe (Eric Close) and Denise (Amy Acker) as children. The heartfelt track captures the innocence and excitement of their early bond, laying the foundation for a lifelong relationship tested by Joe’s unwavering stand for his beliefs. While the film centers around Joe’s fight for religious expression, it delivers a broader message that supports the rights of all religions, not just Christianity, making Average Joe a powerful exploration of faith, love, and the freedoms we all cherish. I wrote the lyrics and co-wrote the music for this track with the renowned Mitchell Froom, whom I first met in the late ’70s at Sound City Studios. At the time, Mitchell was playing keyboards on David LaFlamme’s solo albums, while I was working on my own solo project with Bill Drescher. Over the years, Mitchell went on to produce the first three Crowded House albums and has worked with a stellar lineup of artists, including The Bangles, Los Lobos, The Corrs, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Suzanne Vega, and Paul McCartney. This track is part of my upcoming collection, From The Vault II (A Collection of Works by Jeff Silverman), featuring more unreleased music from the same era. The first collection, From The Vault (A Collection of Works by Rick Springfield and Jeff Silverman), was released during 2010-2015 on Frontiers Records. INNOCENCE OF LOVE Verse 1: Where is the child inside this wall (inside these walls) Where are the tears that never seem to fall It’s easy to be hard without love at all (without you here at all) Until you came back to me Until you just made me see Chorus: We have the Innocence of love We hold the Innocence of love The simple words from the heart The honesty that love starts Lets not let the innocence ever part From our love Verse 2: So lets get back to the basics tonight (tonight, tonight) I feel it’s time for the time to be right, to show you These moments together are as precious as life We’re two hearts in a burnin’ glow We’re two hearts young enough to know Chorus: We have the Innocence of love We hold the Innocence of love The simple words from the heart The honesty that love starts Lets not let the innocence ever part Bridge: It’s back to living with simplicity Back to touchin’ each other so tenderly That’s the way things should be Chorus: We have the Innocence of love We hold the Innocence of love The simple words from the heart The honesty that love starts Lets not let the innocence ever part We have the Innocence of love We hold the Innocence of love We are the Innocence of love We give the Innocence of love We live the Innocence of love CREDITS: Lyrics by: Jeff Silverman Music by: Mitchell Froom and Jeff Silverman Performed by Jeff Silverman Keyboards by: Mitchell Froom Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Drums, Mixed, and Mastered by: Jeff Silverman Palette Music • Studio • Productions, Nashville / Mt Juliet, TN Video by: Marky Blue Productions Cover Image generated by OpenArt ai / modified by DLS Graphics Special Thanks: Debra Lyn, Alby Odum and Lance Gehl All rights reserved Jeff Silverman is a seasoned producer, engineer, songwriter, and former Motown staff writer, boasting nearly 40 years of experience in the music industry. Special Thanks to: Jeanne Boardman Nancy Stenger Lyrics: Cat's In The Cradle Harry & Sandy Chapin, Martin Ruminski My child arrived just the other day. He came to the world in the usual way, But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay - He learned to walk while I was away. And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, And as he grew, he’d say, "I'm gonna be like you, Dad. Ya know, I'm gonna be like you." And the Cat's in the Cradle, and the Silver Spoon, Little Boy Blue, and the Man In The Moon - "When ya comin’ home, Dad?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then - We're gonna have a good time then." My son turned ten just the other day. He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on, let's play. Can ya teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today I got a lot to do." He said, "That's O.K." And he walked away, But his smile never dimmed and said, "I'm gonna be like him. Ya know I'm gonna be like him.” And the Cat's in the Cradle, and the Silver Spoon, Little Boy Blue, and the Man In The Moon - "When ya comin' home, Dad?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then - We're gonna have a good time then." Well. he came from college just the other day, So much like a man, I just had to say, "Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for awhile?" He shook his head, and he said with a smile, "What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys. See ya later - can I have them, please?" And the Cat's in the Cradle, and the Silver Spoon, Little Boy Blue, and the Man In The Moon - "When ya comin' home, Son?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then, Dad We're gonna have a good time then." Well, I've long since retired, my son's moved away; I called him up just the other day. I said, “I'd like to see you, if you don't mind." He said, "I'd love to Dad, if I could find the time - Ya see, my new job's a hassle, And the kids have the flu, But it's sure nice talkin' to you, Dad. It's been sure nice talkin' to you." And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me, He'd grown up just like me . . . My boy was just like me . . . And the Cat's in the Cradle, and the Silver Spoon, Little Boy Blue, and the Man In The Moon - "When ya comin' home, Son?" "I don't know when, But we'll get together then, Dad. Ya know, we’ll have a good time then."

UNCLE CHARLIE - DOUG JAMES
FYC: Best American Roots Song & Performance ARTIST: Doug James Uncle Charlie Chip Orton & Doug James Sinjin Music, BMI / Doug James Music, BMI Produced by: Jeff Silverman, Keith Mack and Doug James Mixed and Mastered by in Stereo and Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio by: Jeff Silverman at Palette MSP, Nashville TN. Engineers: Keith Mack, Jeff Silverman & Doug James Executive Producers: Kenny and Ann Simpler & Will and Bettye James Debra Silverman, DLS Graphics- Artwork Lyrics: Used to have an uncle named Charlie. He loved his baseball and beer. The corner saloon was his favorite room, And he'd toast everyone who came near. He didn't think much of the future - He always lived for today. Didn't like dreamin', nor plannin', nor schemin’, And if you'd listen, here's what he'd say . . . Chorus “May your problems be a drop in the bucket; If the world's full of woe I don't care; Let 'em say I never did nobody no harm, And when it's last call, let me be there. Give me my corner in Heaven When I get there with nothin' to confess; Let the dice always roll number seven, And may the pretty ones always say yes. May the pretty ones always say yes.” Now, some folks said he was lazy - Didn't have what you'd call 'taste.' But when it came to boozin', or the brand he was choosin’, He never let a drop go to waste. I'm sure he would’ve liked his service; The preacherman was gentle and kind - Said, “Uncle Charlie did just what he said he would do, And he left just these few words behind . . . Repeat Chorus Bridge Now, when I find myself caught up in a world full of strife And it seems like I can't find my way, I remember Uncle Charlie - how he led his life - Sometimes I can still hear him say . . . Repeat Chorus

She said, "Daddy, can you send this to the North Pole for me? It's important that it gets there in time because… I want a dolly, a pair of skates and a trolley... But as she spoke, this awful feelin' came over me. Ya see, I was barely able to put food on our table, And I knew Christmas couldn't be what she wanted it to be… So, I told her... “Honey,… Christmas Isn't Presents, Or tinsel on a tree, Or decorations hangin' in the hall. Christmas Isn't Presents - What we really need to see, Is the love we give to one another… Well, that's the best gift of all.” When I finished speakin’, I didn't really know If she could understand what it broke my heart to say. But she asked me for her letter, and she took it from my hand, And said, "Aw, I didn't need that dolly anyway." Well, things got no better, and when that Christmas mornin' came, I braced myself for the tears I knew I'd see. But when she opened up that paper doll, that was all I could afford - I was the one who cried when my baby smiled, and said to me… She said, "Daddy,… Christmas Isn't Presents, Or tinsel on a tree, Or decorations hangin' in the hall. Christmas Isn't Presents - What we really need to see, Is the love we give to one another… Well, that's the best gift of all. Yeah, the love we give to one another… That's the best gift of all.”

Rowdy Ron interview with Jeff Silverman and Debra Lyn 8-20-22
Debra Lyn and I were honoured to be on the Rowdy Ron show tonight and had fun reminiscing along with letting everyone know about her new SOULGRASS Dolby Atmos release on Immersive Audio Album https://bit.ly/3pzzboM . The album project is featuring a dear friend of ours, the late Billy Ray Lathum. The long and short story will be on Debra's 12 page booklet. Billy played Banjo in the original Kentucky Colones, who were recently inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, including Billy Ray! We have currently submitted it in the Grammy's this year for Best Immersive, Historic and Album Notes. Fingers crossed again! :) Rowdy Ron is celebrated Rick's 73rd Birthday (on Aug 23rd). 73!!!!! And the guys rocks his sox off!! A good inspiration for us all slightly "vintage" young souls! https://bit.ly/3PAqN2F This show was also dedicated to help raise money for "Save Our Strays" There's still time to spread the love. https://bit.ly/3R1rAej
