Seeing Jesus in our ordinary lives

The Bible frequently shows Jesus (or God) present and active in the ordinary, everyday moments of life—walking on a road, sharing a meal, fishing, working, or simply abiding with His people. He doesn't only appear in dramatic miracles or temple settings; He meets people in routine activities, conversations, disappointments, and daily tasks. Luke 24:13-35

    Live As Children of Light

In the old and new testaments, instances of being in the presence of God, tells of his illuminating light. For Moses, it was again a confirmation to the people of Israel that God was real. A living God who was speaking to Moses and giving him specific directions on how to guide his people. For Jesus, it was to show the disciples that he was the true Son of God. In both cases, illumination was necessary in order to get the point across. And we as God's people are children of light. Music bonus: Open My EyesMarch 15, 2026Denver Community ChurchDenver, Mo

    The God Who Sees Us

The dominant message this week is God's initiative in seeking us out (even when we are distant or sinful), offering living water (the Holy Spirit, grace, eternal life) that ends spiritual dryness. It calls for repentance, openness to encounter Christ, and sharing that living faith with others. Lent invites us to recognize our thirst, stop "testing" God through grumbling or sin, and accept his mercy.God is patient and merciful, not eager to condemn, but we must respond by bearing fruit in our lives.Music bonus: His Eye Is On the SparrowMarch 8, 2026Denver Community ChurchDenver, Mo

    Make Love Your Aim

One Biblical scholar (David Powlison) says God’s love for us is contra-conditional; because it is contrary to what we deserve. The cultural definition of love is limited to our perceptions, ability to forgive, and how far we are willing to forgive and tolerate. We are not justified by accurate doctrinal formulation. You can have some ideas wrong about love and still love the God who first loved you. But it sure helps to get it right when it’s the most important commandment.

    A Little Faith

The question today is: Is belief the same as Faith? I KNOW I believe. I KNOW God is able. But faith is sometimes shaky. The world is very confusing. Our human experience is constantly challenging whatever FAITH we have. Here are some practical, biblical ways to strengthen our faith. February 1, 2026Denver Community Church

    A Time to Pray

Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. A couple of weeks ago, we talked about God’s will for our lives. This is the WILL of God for YOU.RejoicePrayBe ThankfulJanuary 18, 2026Denver Community Church

    The Baptism of Jesus

Jesus' baptism serves as the prototype for Christian baptism. While John's baptism was for repentance, Christian baptism (in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) unites believers with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection — cleansing from sin and incorporating us into God's family as adopted children.

  10. 24

    Trusting God's Plan

Epiphany is the day that God stepped into the world and announced that he was going to make all sad things untrue. God hadn’t abandoned his people. He isn’t silent or distant.Instead, God has announced to the whole world that King Jesus is intimately interested in you. It’s another reminder of the gospel, one that shouts about our King and his unending love for humanity and this world. In other words, the Epiphany leads to other epiphanies, or revelations, where you continue to realize how much God loves you.

    A Little Faith

Is belief the same as faith?Matthew 17:20: "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will beimpossible for you." This verse beautifully bridges belief and faith, showing how even a tiny spark of trust can grow into something powerful.March 30, 2025Denver Community Church

    Work Out Your Salvation

Philippians2:12-13Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now,not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your ownsalvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to willand to work for his good pleasure.Today we’re going to look into scripture to explore the topic of works and faith. There can be confusion around the topic of good works among Christians. Jesus’ salvation is a gift of grace that He doesn’t expect us to earn through our performance. That said, what we do still matters.March 23, 2025Denver Community Church

    Salvation - A Destination

Matthew22:1-14The Invitation You’re Invited! We’ve probably all received an invitation to something at one time oranother; a birthday, graduation, wedding. Usually we’re asked to RSVP as a key component to throwing a great partyis knowing who will be coming. The parable in Matthew illustrates the invitation we have been given. An invitation to Heaven. God has extended thisinvitation to us through his son Jesus. We respond to this invitation by believing, and being ready by dressing appropriately, preparing for our ultimate destination.March 9, 2025Denver Community Church

    I Love You

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful. It is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way. It is not irritable or resentful. It does not rejoice in the wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all thing, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.Denver Community ChurchFebruary 9, 2025

    Forgive - Empty Your Backpack

Despite its prevalence in our lives, it seems that many of us have a mistaken view of forgiveness and its impact, not only spiritually and emotionally, but also physically. In fact, according to John Hopkins Medicine, forgiveness has a huge impact on your health: “Whether it’s a simple spat with your spouse or long-held resentment toward a family member or friend, unresolved conflict can go deeper than you may realize—it may be affecting your physical health. The good news: Studies have found that the act of forgiveness can reap huge rewards for your health, lowering the risk of heart attack; improving cholesterol levels and sleep; and reducing pain, blood pressure, and levels of anxiety, depression and stress. And research points to an increase in the forgiveness-health connection as you age.” Denver Community Church February 2, 2025

I Know the Plans I Have for You

Do you know that God has a plan for you? Jeremiah 29:11 says: "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." As we look into the new year; setting goals, and making resolutions, consider what possibilities God may have in store for you! 1/12/2025 Denver Community Church Denver, MO

    Joseph the Peacemaker

Our second Sunday of Advent 2025 is Peace. Peace is not only a state of being, or absence of conflict. Peace is an obligation. Joseph led by example as a peacemaker.

    Believe and Be Ready

Our first Sunday of Advent December 2024 is Hope. The story of Christmas is usually soft, quiet, and peaceful. The true story of the coming of Christ was none of those things. It was shocking, hard, perilous, and culturally disruptive. They were waiting for a Messiah then because they believed the prophets. What most people don't know is there are even more prophecies of Christ coming again. Believe and Be Ready.
