Between Episodes--Politics & Cake Smoothies
Did you know that politics and cake smoothies go hand-in-hand? Well, they don't really. I just don't have a way to connect the two in this description. But both are discussed to some degree in this episode. Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram: @parentalguidancepodcast Email: [email protected]
-
Medical Police
If you enjoyed movies like Airplane or Naked Gun or Scary Movie, then you enjoy spoofs. That's what this is. A spoof that gets really good ratings from us. We break it down with relatively good control over our laughter. Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram: @parentalguidancepodcast Email:...

Night on Earth
Netflix has jumped into world of nature shows with some pretty cool tech. The big question is whether they can measure up to the gold standard of nature shows: BBC & Sir David Attenborough. That's a massive ask for Netflix. We let you know if it's worth the time for you and your kids to sit down...
-
Between Episodes--Cruising Thunderdome
Cruises. To mutiny and take control or not? That is the question. So we discuss it. It's also why there was a week with no episodes. Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram: @parentalguidancepodcast Email: [email protected]

The Expanse
Night Shift Edition: You know, the shows and movies for the grownups. And those without kids that just enjoy reviews. This is an Amazon Prime original series that we had been hearing about for a bit so decided to see if it would be worth getting into. Jason loves him the sci-fi so this was an…

Kipo & the Age of Wonderbeasts
Netflix & Dreamworks are at it again! (Do they let their people sleep??) Most of the time, Dreamworks hits it well. Is this another hit or a rare bomb? I mean, obviously we give our thoughts. Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram: @parentalguidancepodcast Email: [email protected]

Between Episodes--Some Actual Sports Talk!
We don't usually do sports talk, as that's not what this podcast is ultimately about. But, since it's Between Episodes, we feel a bit more freedom to chat up other stuff. Hope you enjoy! (And for those who hate sports talk...sorry and we'll see Wednesday.) Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram:...

Messiah
Night Shift Edition! Netflix has a show whose trailer has one wondering if the Jesus-looking character is really a messiah or just a con man. Jeremy and Jason do agree about one thing with the show but not much else. Does Netflix have a hit on it's hands or is it a bust? *shrug emoji* Opinions...
-
Fast & Furious--Spy Racers
With such a short supply of Fast & Furious material out there, Netflix and Dreamworks have dipped their toe into the waters of fast cars and crazy heists. But is it really geared for kids or adults? Hmmm...we give our thoughts and share a rather enjoyable synopsis from a "helpful" IMDb review.…

Between Episodes--C's get Degrees
This week we talk about some really random stuff. Sweet potatoes get involved. Jeremy confesses his love for reality TV and Jason judges him in his mind. Jason talks about a new podcast he started listening to. Also, Jason's son Caleb makes a silent cameo this week. Nothing like a silent cameo…

The Witcher
Friday = Night Shift edition! Shows or movies for the grownups. Generally, no kids allowed. As for The Witcher...definitely NO KIDS ALLOWED! A somewhat mixed-bag affair, this Netflix series has some good, some bad (Jason has a slight rant) and some confusing (wait...is this taking place now or...

John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch
Comedian John Mulaney has a new Netflix special aimed at kids. The big question is whether you should allow him to aim this special at your kid or ask him to aim elsewhere. Short answer: Point that thing away from my kid! We break it down a bit more--without spoilers--in today's podcast. Twitter:...

Between Episodes--2020
The holidays are over and we're back to recording! So, what did we watch and listen to over the past couple of weeks? From The Witcher on Netflix, to Hulu's Catch-22, to books on tape and Jason's band-of-the-decade choice Chvrches, there was lots going on. Also, some small independent film called...
-
Between Episodes--Marvelous Mrs Maisel Meets Messi
Jason has been hitting YouTube to watch a bunch of highlight videos of soccer player Lionel Messi. Jeremy has been watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. It's really a win-win. Also, we start off with a bit more on what should be done with Michael Bay and his directorial efforts…

6 Underground
It's a Michael Bay film with Ryan Reynolds! And it is everything you'd expect a Michael Bay film to be. In other words, if you're in the mood for rich character development, then run away. But if you're in the mood for over-the-top action sequences that are lots of fun, then saddle up! Basically,...
-
Noelle
Noelle, a Disney+ original for the holiday season! Turns out to be a surprisingly fun and at-times-touching little Christmas story. Worth a watch, especially if you're a fan of Anna Kendrick. She is the best thing about the movie, which is good since she's the main character. Our overall ratings...
-
Between Episodes--Roasting Jason's Christmas Tree
Christmas trees are fun and lovely when decorated well. Or even mildly competently. Jason has high standards for his tree and this year's product is...lacking. We end up spending a good bit of time ripping into it. No one ends up in tears, as the harshest words came from the creator of the tree...
-
The Feed
It's Friday. Eventually, the kids (if you have them) will be in bed and you'll be looking for something to watch. How about The Feed on Amazon Prime? It's a dystopian future drama that wonders what it would be like to have all of our social media, the internet and other bits and pieces of...

You vs Wild
Some may remember the Discover Channel show Man vs Wild with Bear Grylls. Well, he's back with an interactive show for kids to play along with. You get to choose if Bear eats the termites or the giant grub; swings across the ravine on a vine or uses the log; eats nuts from bear poo or moves on…

Between Episodes--Frozen 2, Mister Rogers & More
It seems Jeremy lived in a movie theater over Thanksgiving weekend so he's coming with the reviews. Jason has nothing to offer. Seems about normal...although, it would appear that the movies someone does or doesn't like may decide who he'll be friends with. What a jerk! Twitter: @The_PGPod...
-
Mike Birbiglia--The New One
One of Jason's favorite comedians, he was super psyched to see a new special coming out on Netflix. Excitement lead to some disappointment, however, as it didn't quite measure up to what he'd hoped. But, did Jeremy agree? (Well, yes...and you'll get our ratings within the first five minutes, as…

Miraculous: A Christmas Special
Oof! Just spare yourself and go watch Klaus if you haven't already. Unless your kid enjoys the show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, just don't bother. If they do like the show, they might enjoy this Christmas special but you most likely won't. It was just painful. Although, if you enjoy...
-
To Be Of Service
If you're listening to this on Black Friday...good luck out there! Otherwise, here's a Netflix documentary revolving around service dogs for military veterans who are suffering from PTSD. It's great conversation starter on the benefits (there are a LOT) of service dogs and the criminal lack of...
-
Klaus
Is it possible that Netflix has created a new Christmas classic? I guess it depends on your definition of "classic," but we certainly think they did really well with this movie. Good fun with some heart and soul to it. Winner, winner...(finish however you like)
-
Between Episodes--Thanksgiving & Christmas Stuff(ing)
I mean, pretty self-explanatory. We take some time to dig into Thanksgiving meals, what we enjoy and what we don't Also, what about those Christmas traditions and then some random Bill Murray and Will Ferrel love as we get sidetracked on some of their best work.
-
Between Episodes--Star Wars Nerdom
Disney + launches The Mandalorian...the last in the Skywalker saga arrives on December 20th...so much Star Wars, so little time. But Jason decided to watch The Phantom Menace for the first time in many, many years to see if it's as bad as he remembers. If you enjoy anything Star Wars related,...
-
The Devil Next Door
Friday means the Night Shift edition! Hooray! Although, this documentary revolves around the prosecution and trial of alleged Nazi war criminal Ivan the Terrible, so not exactly your cheeriest subject. But if you love documentaries and are a WW II buff like Jason, then this will be right up your...

Green Eggs and Ham go Dancing with the Birds
So today is a sort of 2-for-1 special. Our miscommunication with each other gets you a review of both Green Eggs & Ham and Dancing with the Birds on Netflix. Ah, miscommunication... But, hey, extra reviews! Hooray! Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram: @parentalguidancepodcast

The World According to Jeff Goldblum
If you enjoy the singularly unique, bizarre and entertaining personality that is Jeff Goldblum then you will enjoy this show. Episode #1 has him diving into and exploring sneaker culture. Just think: Jeff Goldblum doing a deep-dive on sneakers. Not surprisingly, it gets interesting and...

Disney Shorts
There are a number of shorts that Disney has produced for their new streaming service. We look at several of them and let you know which ones make you laugh, which ones go for the feels, and which ones we are looking forward to seeing more of. (We're looking at you Forky & Pixar in Real Life!) We...

High School Musical, The Musical, The Series
Many of you grew up on the original High School Musical. Does a series sound like a good idea to you? Excited for it? Jeremy was...underwhelmed with it. Jason, who has never seen the original, was slightly more forgiving. At least when he was able to watch the ridiculously shaky camera work.…

Marvel Hero Project
Our Disney + original #2! This sweet & inspiring show will encourage and challenge your kids and you. Well worth a watch on any level. At least, so far...you can only watch episode #1 right now as Disney has opted not to go the route of feeding the binging community. Oh, well...the anticipation…

The Mandalorian
Star Wars universe! And episode 1 totally lives up to the original heart of this beloved franchise: A western in space. Gritty, dusty locations; a silent, mysterious bounty hunter...and just the beginning of interesting, bizarre creatures. Oh, we also recorded this while simultaneously recording...

Jack Ryan
Amazon prime is on season 2 of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. We look at the show's two seasons and give you an idea what you're in for and whether it's worth the time to sit and enjoy. (Basically, it's flawed in parts but enjoyable enough to partake in.) Twitter: @The_PGPod Instagram:...

Daybreak
We reviewed the Netflix series Daybreak. It's TV-MA. It has earned that rating. It's not for under 17-18 years of age. So why did we review this for the pod? Because kids are going to learn about it and want to watch it. Which means they may look for ways to sneak-watch it. This will let you know...

GIVEAWAY!
Okay, Disney+ comes out next week and we are going to go stupid crazy. On November 12th, we will be live streaming our instant reactions to episodes of The Mandolorian. But that's not all! We are going to be doing a...*drumroll*...GIVEAWAY! Oh, you got that from the title already? Fair enough.…

Between Episodes--The Lost Track
Ok, so normally these don't go quite this long but we got a little distracted by taco thieves, Christopher Columbus and of course we also still shared the other stuff we are watching, listening to and generally doing. So apologies for the excess. Unless you enjoy random excess, in which case...we...

Living With Yourself
Paul Rudd & Paul Rudd come to Netflix with a sci-fi series centered around cloning. So, if you like Paul Rudd, you can have two of him! And if you like Irish comedians taking on more dramatic roles you will also get Aisling Bea. To say there are some unexpected moments in this series is a good…

Between Episodes--Laughter is the Best Medicine
Another quick hit about what we're listening to, watching, blah, blah. Also, one of us gets to laughing and just can't quite stop. The blame rests on carbon monoxide and "DAN".

Life Itself--Night Shift Edition
With names like Oscar Isaac, Olivia Wilde, Annette Being, Mandy Patinkin, Olivia Cook, Antonio Banderas, Jean Smart and even Samuel L. Jackson you'd think that Dan Fogelman (of "This Is Us" fame) and Amazon could put out something that engages you for the hour and fifty-seven minute run...

Carmen Sandiego
It's not the first time that a video game is turned into a show or movie. Usually they are more of the action, "shoot 'em up" variety, though, not the educational type as is the case for the "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" franchise. Does Netflix hit or miss with their attempt? Well, of...
