I had an inspiring conversation about creating and recording a DJ set at home with my DJ buddy @after.now . Recording a set at home in my own space was always a unique challenge for me because I lacked the vibe I get from the dancefloor. DJing in front of a crowd is more about taking them on a journey, and it highly depends on the journey the crowd wants to have. In contrast to recording a set at home, it’s just about my own journey. I decide the direction, I decide the energy, and I decide the story behind the set. With these inspiring words from Simon, I created this set, just going on a journey where I wanted to go

This was one of my really first demo tape and created many many years ago. During that time I used DJ Aran as my pseudonym. The early rave sound still has a huge impact on my current music preferences.

I had many discussions with promoters who complained about DJs who put too much energy in an intro set. An "energy flow" in a club or party is essential for a good mood through the whole night. Especially an intro set should prepare for the headliner and not exhaust people in the first hour. I am used to play peak time sets as well. Here this is an attempt how I would play an intro set. Keep in mind I usually play at parties with a high energy level overall and therefore you might consider this set as already to energized. Let me know in the comments
