Be Imitators of God | The Letter to the Ephesians
IN CHRIST | The Letter to the Ephesians The Apostle Paul found himself in prison and wrote a letter to the church in Ephesus. This church and this city was a launching point for Paul's ministry to the Mediterranean world, and this letter is a seminal work that provides a wonderful understanding of Paul's revolutionary theology. As a reformed Pharisee, Paul intimately knows the Hebrew Scriptures. As one who encountered the living Christ, Paul has a high Christology. And it is this dynamic combination that moves Paul to emphasize an embodied theology of being IN CHRIST. Each week we will explore a chapter - highlighting a pertinent topic. This will not be an exhaustive study of the letter to the Ephesians. It is recommended that you read along as we go. April 12 | In Christ (ringers of peace, peace singers) April 19 | A Dwelling Place (northern lights chorale) April 26 | The Power at Work in Us May 3 | Be Angry...But... (peace singers, communion) May 10 | Be Imitators of God (ringers of peace) May 17 | The Armor of God May 24 | Wrap-up Conversation (OUTDOORS) __ This podcast is from Peace, A United Methodist Community in Shoreview, MN. Our intro and outro music is Unstoppable by Ketsa. Additional music is by Three Music and Samuel F Johanns. _____ Peace | United Methodist Community OUR MISSION: reconciling and growing for everyone VISION: partnering with God to experience the flourishing of all things INCLUSION: affirming all people as a gift of God’s love through a careful use of language in our liturgy and music, while celebrating and including all people at every level of leadership and service

EASTER! Bodies | Resisting WINNING & Insisting CONNECTION
Christ is Risen | Christ is Risen Indeed! BODIES | Resisting & Insisting The word BODIES is multifaceted. Each one of us is a body. Collectively we comprise a body. Spiritually, we are to 'take eat, this is my body' and we are to be the body of Christ. A BODY is also what they call you when a name is too dignifying for their hurtful purposes. Cells and cages full of bodies. Not somebodies, just bodies. Over the course of the next 46 days, from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, we will explore what it looks like for us to resist and insist that all bodies should experience good news. We will explore what it means to become a body (both communally and spiritually) that resists systemic injustice and insists on joy and generativity. The End Is Just The Beginning | BEHOLD: I am doing a new thing
The End Is Just The Beginning | BEHOLD: I am doing a new thing Episode 7 of our Winter Series Because faith traditions go back hundreds and even thousands of years, it’s natural for us to think that when we engage our faith we are trying to go back. Back to a time when the faith was practiced well. Back to a era when more people believed. Back to a season when faith was alive. We even have phrases like, ‘We need to get back into the Bible.’ But when we explore the Scriptures there is a subtle movement happening. God is pushing things forward. Yes, God often reminders people to remember where they came from and what God has done in their past. But not so they can go back. But so that they can launch forward. God is doing a new thing. Due to the tragedies and continuing escalation of violence and terror in Minneapolis, caused by the increased presence of federal immigration and border agents, we took a detour from our series. Nouns, Adjectives, and VERBS | Imago Dei Part 8
In the poetic beginning of the Bible, humans are said to be 'made in the image of God' - the IMAGO DEI. What does that mean? Why is that significant? How does that impact what it means to be human? Maybe...If we understand how God has shown up in the world, we will have a better understanding of how we are to show up in the world. It's also about Job's relationship with God. Is God transactional - do good and good things happen, do evil and bad things happen? Or, is God something more? And if God is something more, what does that mean for us - as image bearers of the Divine? If you want to dive into this story more, check-out the podcast, The Bible for Normal People. I Don't Like This Sermon | The Parable of the Rich Fool
MONEY. WEALTH. RICHES. Whether we want to believe it or not, our place in history, our place in the world, puts us in the category of the wealthy. We can always look to someone with more...but Jesus gave this parable to poor, subjugated peasants in first century Palestine...so we don't have an excuse not to engage the hard realities of what Jesus is saying. But what if Jesus isn't simply against wealth?! Could this parable be more nuanced than that? ____ Jesus spent most of his time teaching people about God’s Kingdom (or Kin-dom), and used this unique teaching tool – parables – to engage people. Trajectories | How do we move towards grace?
On Saturday, June 14th, we woke in Minnesota to the devastating news that Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark had been murdered, and that Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were in critical condition after being shot. The question that lingered on my mind was, 'How do we move towards grace?' There isn't an easy or simple answer, and this might not be the time for one. But as followers of Jesus and as those who believe in the ever-present reality of grace, we struggle to move in the direction of love and justice even when we might not want to. Naming truth. Modeling love. Witnesses to grace. _____ This podcast is from Peace, A United Methodist Community in Shoreview, MN. Our intro and outro music is Unstoppable by Ketsa. 7 Miles | Easter @ Peace
Easter @ Peace | 7 Miles The road between Jerusalem and Emmaus was 7 miles. Two of Jesus' disciples didn't remain in town long enough to see if the rumors of resurrection were true. Instead, they started making their way back to Emmaus. And suddenly an incognito Jesus was among them and acted like he didn't know what had happened in the city that weekend. Shocked and sarcastic, the two disciples share their sadness. But Jesus calls them out for not trusting the scriptures and proceeds to explain how suffering and hardship were necessary for the Christ by unpacking the entire Old Testament. These 7 miles were unforgettable and life changing. What would our 7 miles look like? What would be said to us? _____ This podcast is from Peace, A United Methodist Community in Shoreview, MN.
