Episode 15 of Pelham Perspectives is live!! In this episode, we will recap the July 6th Pelham City Council Work Session and the July 9th Pelham City Council Meeting. Topics discussed were the 4-0 approval of the new housing development on State Park Road, the approval of the new Quiktrip going in at the corner of Hwy 52 and Racquet Club Parkway that was previously denied by those of us on the prior city council, due to traffic concerns and the lack of a need for a 4th gas station there. All of these issues still exist and will still create more traffic issues especially with the 300 plus homes already being developed on Hwy 11. Other issues discussed were the approval of a new contract with the city for lawn equipment leased with 3m Carts (Councilman Harris') company, PVC pipe replacement as part of the Hwy 261 Widening, Reamp project at the old Oak Mountain Amphitheater site, and much more!! On Episode 11 of Pelham Perspectives, we will recap the April 20th Pelham City Council Work Session and the April 23rd Pelham City Council Meeting. Highlights of our discussion include the decision by the council to reduce the city reserves (the savings account) from approximately 31 million dollars (3 Million to phase 2 of the ballpark renovations, 2 million to the flyover project, and the remainder to other pending capital projects) to 24 million dollars. This remaining reserves balance was reported by the city manager to be just over 4 months of expenses left in reserves. They also discussed the new process on how they are going to interview and decide on the next school board member, the BEAT painting a new America's 250 Mural on the Civic Complex and much more.
