Phillies Weekly Week 11 Now Available
Week 11 of the Phillies Weekly podcast covering September 9-15 is now available by clicking here It was a great week for the Phils both on and off the field. Here is what we discussed in week 11 of the podcast:Phillies and Phans come together to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims. As donations at the gates reached over $80,000.00, the Phils front office also contributed and the club donated a total of $160,000.00 to the Red Cross this week. A big thanks to the Phans for donating and props to David Montgomery and Bill Giles for also chipping in.New email address for Phillies Weekly. Keep sending us your emails at [email protected] stay right in the NL wild card hunt. We'll review the Florida Marlins and Atlanta Braves series from this past week. After being swept by the Astros, the Phils go on to win 5 out of 7Jimmy Rollins has really come around as leadoff hitter recently. In the midst of a 22 game hitting streak, Jimmy has helped to spark the club during the recent homestand. We'll look into J-Roll's numbers over the past few week.J-Roll and Kenny Lofton 1-2 punch. A few games this week we saw Rolllins and Lofton combine to score runs on a 1-2 punch. Lofton and Rollins got it done with aggressive baserunning and small ball, something that these 1 and 2 hole hitters must continue to do in the month of September. Danny Sandoval has won the International League batting title for the 2005 season.The Phils go down hill this week losing two against the Nationals and get swept by the Astros. Week 9 of Phillies Weekly covering August 26 to September 1st is now available by clicking here This is what we dicussed on the 9th week of Phillies Weekly:Shane Victorino of the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Red Barons was named MVP of the International League for the 2005 season. We'll look into some of Shane's accomplishments this season.Micheal Tucker was acquired from the San Francisco Giants earlier this week. Tucker brings a vetern presence and a left handed bat to the Phils bench. We'll take a look at what Tucker can provide to the Phils down the stretch.The major league roster was expanded to 30 players this week. The Phils called up many players from AAA Scranton/Wilkes Barre including Shane Victorino, Geoff Geary, and Gavin Floyd among others. We'll take a look at what these players can provide for the PhilsThe Phils got to Pedro Martinez and took 2 out of 3 from the Mets. We'll recap the Arizona D-Backs and the New York Mets series from this past week.The Phils round out a 12 game, 4 city road trip this weekend with 3 game set against the Nationals at RFK stadium. Phillies Weekly Week 6 Now Available
Week 6 of Phillies Weekly covering August 5-10 is now available by clicking here Here is what we discussed this week:Jim Thome is out for the year. Thome spent the majority of the season on the DL. He has decided to have season ending elbow surgery next week. Pitching prospect Cole Hamels is also out for the season. Hamels had been experiencing back problems over the past few weeks. Cole will sit out the rest of the year and look to continue his career next season starting in AAA Wilkes Barre/Scranton. Rumours around Philly say Ed Wade will fill the GM spot for the club untill 2007. We'll offer our comments regarding this situation. We'll also have more on this rumour next week as more information becomes available.The Phils bats came alive in Los Angeles this week. Wagner is rumoured to be looking for a 3 year, $24 Million deal with a no-trade clause.
