SLY & the Family Stone TRIPLE PLAY
Three segments of music by the sometimes brilliant, sometimes tragic, always interesting, SLY STONE (and THE FAMILY STONE).Our first segment is an album from 2011: SLY STONE: I'M BACK! FAMILY & FRIENDS (Cleopatra Records). It's an interesting mix of brand new versions of Sly's classics - some featuring rock giants collaborating with Sly:Dance to the Music (featuring RAY MANZAREK of THE DOORS)Everyday People (featuring ANN WILSON of HEART)Family AffairStand! It was Sly's record label, EPIC RECORDS, hoping to cash in on the (by 1979) already dwindling first wave of disco. They remixed some of Sly & the Family Stone's biggest hits, in the hope that it would appeal to the disco/dance crowd: 1. Dance to the Music 2. Sing A Simple Song 3. I Get High On You 4. Robert Altman's 1980 film, POPEYE, featuring the music of Grammy winner Harry Nilsson, starred Robin Williams & Shelley Duvall. Harry Nilsson's demos are wonderful; he wrote and sings them all. FLO & EDDIE & THE TURTLES LIVE at The Bottom Line, NYC '79-'94
Here's a 2-hour, 15-minute LIVE compilation of FLO & EDDIE ~ aka THE TURTLES ~ shows from the legendary, but unfortunately, now-defunct New York City nightclub, The Bottom Line, from the years 1979-1994. The compilation is comprised from two main sources: "The Turtles Featuring Flo & Eddie Captured Live" and "New York 'Times' Live at The Bottom Line featuring Flo & Eddie." The "New York 'Times'" performances were recorded, with microphones literally hanging from the ceiling of The Bottom Line. Thus, the audio is not always 100%, but certainly worth hearing because it's a tremendous example of Flo & Eddie's fun, chaotic insanity ever-present during their live shows. (Quite a back-up band, as well!).Flo & Eddie are actually Mark Volman & Howard Kaylan. We sadly lost Mark Volman on September 5, 2025, so we respectfully dedicate this recording to Mark's memory.Flo & Eddie Theme SongHappy TogetherYou BabyElvis Medley a) Girls Girls Girls b) Rock-A Hula c) Harum HolidayNikki HoiGirls Girls Girls RepriseNikki Hoi RepriseThe Doors9. Beatles Hour 83 (Laurie Kaye, guest) with Steve Ludwig [Audio edition]
On this episode (#83) of The Beatles Hour with Steve Ludwig, we are joined by the brilliant author/rock journalist, LAURIE KAYE. She interviewed John Lennon & Yoko Ono on the afternoon that John was brutally taken from us later that evening. It's a surreal story of a somewhat surreal (& exciting) life in the music & radio scenes. We'll also hear of Laurie's interviews with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Mick Jagger, & so much more. PLUS, we'll hear of the horrifying encounter Laurie had with the scum who, shortly after the encounter, shot John Lennon. Her brilliant book is entitled, CONFESSIONS OF A ROCK 'N' ROLL NAME-DROPPER - My Life Leading Up to John Lennon's Last Interview.

LOU REED - METAL MACHINE MUSIC (1975)
Arguably, this is LOU REED's weirdest album release. METAL MACHINE MUSIC was released in 1975, but was taken off the market three weeks later. Some critics said it cost Reed his reputation in the music business. There are no songs or structured composition on the album; instead it consists of modulated feedback & noise music guitar effects.UGLY MUSIC Magazine write: "Get beyond those first few unnerving seconds, listen closely, and it can be interpreted in a multitude of ways." Decide for yourself...

JOHN & YOKO TWO VIRGINS (16-min. Walls & Abridged version)
Here is a shortened ("Walls & Abridged") 16-minute version of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's avant-garde, experimental album from 1968, Unfinished Music No. 1 - TWO VIRGINS. I've taken 16 minutes' worth of the 30-minute album to give the uninitiated listeners an idea of what can be expected if one chooses to listen to the full album.I've also included the bonus track, written by Yoko, that was included on the TWO VIRGINS re-release from 1997, "Remember Love." It features only Yoko on vocals and John on acoustic guitar. One may identify bits from The Beatles songs, "Julia," "Sun King," & "Dear Prudence" from John, as he strums on "Remember Love."Enjoy!Remember Love - Yoko & JohnTWO VIRGINS Sides 1 & 2 - experimental music consisting of only John & Yoko. Some of the tape loops which appear on TWO VIRGINS are from the collection of John's old Liverpool mate, Pete Shotten (who had recorded these tape loops with John).
