The St. John’s University Libraries inaugurated their Academic Podcasting Initiative in 2005, with the aim of capturing podcasts of those University programs and events which offer unique, mission-oriented content. We hope that these podcasts enliven academic and student-life engagement, and help enrich the community's academic resources. In capturing podcasts, the libraries are also taking a proactive role in forming our digital “information commons" to include audio technology in the univerisity's quest to promote information-, computer- and technology-fluency in the current student population as well as life-long learning among our alumni.
