Students from this year's CU Boulder Pre-Collegiate Development Program took over Radio 1190's airwaves on July 1, 2026 to share their sports media creations.

Learn more at https://isaacschankler.com and https://mediaarchaeologylab.com. Isaac Io Schankler is a composer, accordionist, and electronic musician living in Los Angeles. Their music has been described as “powerful” (Sequenza21), “delightful” (I Care If You Listen), “ingenious” (The Artificialist), “masterfully composed” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), and “the antidote to sentimentality” (LA Times). Schankler’s performances and commissions include works for the Nouveau Classical Project, the Ray-Kallay Duo, Friction Quartet, gnarwhallaby, the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, Lorelei Ensemble, Juventas New Music Ensemble, flutist Meerenai Shim, and bass-baritone Nicholas Isherwood. Recent honors include awards and grants from Meet the Composer, the National Opera Association, the American Composers Forum, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and the American Prize. Schankler is a past winner of the USC Sadye J. Moss Composition Prize and the ASCAP/Lotte Lehmann Foundation Art Song Competition. As a composer for video games, Schankler has written music for critically acclaimed and award-winning independent games, including Ladykiller in a Bind, Analogue: A Hate Story, Hate Plus, Redshirt, and Depression Quest. As a writer and researcher, Schankler has written numerous articles for NewMusicBox, the multimedia publication of New Music USA, and in 2013 was a winner of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for excellence in music journalism. Their writing has also appeared in the International Journal of Arts and Technology, Computer Music Journal, and the proceedings of various international conferences. Schankler is the artistic director of the concert series People Inside Electronics, and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in composition from the University of Southern California, as well as Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in composition from the University of Michigan. Schankler is currently Associate Professor of Music at Cal Poly Pomona, where they teach composition, music technology, and music theory.

DJ Mel Z hosts a special live appearance at KVCU Radio 1190's Carlson studios with Jacob T. Simons in advance of his performance with Palamara at eTown Hall! Jacob T. Simons is a songwriter with a gift for fearlessness. He is not afraid to make himself vulnerable as he reaches into his soul and puts to the page whatever he might find there: beauty, ugliness, truth, untruth. Whether drawing on folk, blues or experimental music, his understated guitar work and plainspoken candor strip the compositions down to their raw essentials and leave nothing hidden. He is the former leader and impresario of the Michigan-based collective Moon Orchids, with whom he released a pair of acclaimed records prior to their dissolution in 2025.

Kamari Carter is a New York-based artist primarily working with sound, video, installation, and performance. His practice critically engages with materiality through a variety of recording and amplification techniques to investigate notions such as space, systems of identity, oppression, control, and surveillance. Carter’s work has been exhibited at such venues as Automata Arts, MoMA, Mana Contemporary, RISD Museum, Flux Factory, Lenfest Center for the Arts, WaveHill and has been featured in a range of major publications including ArtNet, Precog Magazine, LevelGround and WhiteWall. Kamari Carter is represented by Microscope Gallery in New York City. Gladstone Deluxe is a New York based artist working with percussion and electronics. As a percussionist, Gladstone is interested in how conceptions and politics of time are embodied, and can bleed into the social topography of a culture through rhythmic performance. As a technologist, they develop systems for the augmentation and amplification of percussive messages. Their experimental approach towards composition and interface design is a collision of the spiritual and the cybernetic. They've appeared in galleries like The Warhol Museum, Rubin Foundation, Chashama, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and clubs all over the country.
