Raising the Future (ICCSD)
by Coalition for Healthy Learning
Raising the Future is produced by the Coalition for Healthy Learning, based in Iowa City. We are a group of parents, educators, and mental health professionals in the Iowa City Community School District who are advocating for healthier learning environments for our kids and students by limiting screens and phones in schools and promoting interpersonal, embodied and experiential learning methods. Research shows that overuse of technology is harmful for kids’ development (emotional, social, neuro, physical). When schools implement bell-to-bell phone bans, school environments are safer and students feel more connected and less stressed. Research shows that one-to-one devices and overuse of education technology decreases learning outcomes. Education technology is expensive! If EdTech doesn’t work for learning
