    JoJo & Jaren Goodine

Join us on 7/29/2025 as we have a conversation with JoJo & Jaren Goodine. This Father & Son duo knows how to run the football. It must be in the blood.JoJo Goodine- His statistics as a freshman were those of a better-than-average veteran — a bushel of rushing yards and five trips to the end zone, including two in a victory over Thanksgiving Day rival Durfee. His sophomore season was even more impressive as he tied for the team lead in touchdowns (with Sharik Mendes) with nine and led the Whalers in rushing, including a 215-yard effort (and a touchdown) in a 29-24 loss to powerful Xaverian. But, for the 5-foot-9 169-pounder, the best was yet to come. As a junior in 1993, he helped lead the Whalers to the first of back-to-back Div. 1 Super Bowl titles by rushing for for well over 1,000 yards and a school-record 27 regular-season touchdowns. Seven times he scored multiple touchdowns, including a school single-season record six in a 55-22 rout of Xavier High of Connecticut. A year late JoJo capped his high school career with a carbon-copy effort. He tied his regular-season record for touchdowns with 27 and, for the second straight postseason game, scored a touchdown that helped the Whalers win a Super Bowl. He ended his career by finding the end zone in 18 of his last 20 regular-season games, scoring a school-record 68 regular-season touchdowns and becoming the school’s all-time rushing leader. When opponents had the ball, JoJo remained on the field as a cornerback in the Whalers’ secondary and was rewarded for his outstanding play by being named winner of the Otto Graham Achievement Award as the area’s outstanding senior football player. JoJo accepted a football scholarship from the University of New Hampshire, but later transferred to UMass Dartmouth.(SouthcoastToday.com)Jaren Goodine- Jaren Goodine, New Bedford, JuniorGoodine had a knack for making big plays on offense for New Bedford and led the Whalers with nine touchdowns. The Southeast Conference All-Star carried the ball 106 times for 786 yards and scored six rushing TDs. He also split out at wide receiver and had 23 catches for 289 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Goodine returned a kickoff for another score. “He was smooth and explosive,” said New Bedford head coach Mark DeBrito. “He could cut and take off. He was a home run hitter.”

Courts of Reflection By Michael Semiao

Michael K. Semiao’s Courts of Reflection is a deeply moving exploration of the interplay between external success and internal struggle. In this candid memoir, Semiao invites readers into the complex duality of his life as a high school basketball star—a young athlete celebrated for his discipline and determination, yet quietly burdened by insecurities, mistrust, and the yearning for genuine connection. What sets this memoir apart is its willingness to delve beyond the surface of athletic triumphs. Semiao masterfully intertwines the adrenaline-fueled highs of competitive sports with the quieter, more introspective moments of self-doubt and emotional growth. His vivid storytelling brings the reader courtside for thrilling games while simultaneously pulling back the curtain on the personal battles that often went unnoticed. The memoir resonates deeply as it tackles universal themes: the pressure to perform, the struggle to belong, and the courage it takes to confront one’s flaws. Particularly poignant are Semiao’s reflections on the weight of racial stereotypes he encounters and the isolation that comes with being seen as a symbol rather than an individual. These moments of vulnerability transform Courts of Reflection from a sports memoir into a powerful narrative of identity and resilience.Semiao’s voice is both authentic and inspiring, offering hard-won wisdom without veering into sentimentality. His journey from self-protective detachment to emotional connection is as relatable as it is inspiring, making this book a must-read not just for athletes but for anyone who has ever struggled with self-acceptance and the courage to grow.In Courts of Reflection, Semiao achieves what many memoirists aspire to: a balance of personal vulnerability and universal truth. This is more than a story about basketball—it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of self-discovery.Highly recommended for readers seeking an honest, heartfelt memoir that transcends the court and speaks to the heart.

    Deals Danger Destiny

About the author of "DEALS DANGER DESTINY"So, if you thought a Renaissance Man was a thing of the past, think again. That opening quote was made by Dr. John LaCasse, who has ricocheted through life with ups and downs - ultimate highs and dismal lows. This high ridge walker from Montana became a wizard of wealth in Seattle as a successful yacht broker for 25 years. It brought him into relationships with business magnates such as Boeing, and Weyerhaeuser, political figures such as Secretary of State George Shultz, actor Gene Hackman, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, Adriana Salinas de Gortari, and organized crime bosses Meyer Lansky and Johnny Carbone.Fast and Furious with Penthouse style, fast cars, and outlaw bikers…Being handed checks in the millions, drinking and smoking to excess—it was all real until one day it hit him: “Why am I living this life? Why am I letting this happen?”Even though marriage and fatherhood provided new sources of happiness and responsibility, the loss of two sons brought unimaginable grief. The piles of money meant nothing. Curiosity and education meant everything. John returned to school in middle age, but his attitude got him kicked out of three universities as he became reacquainted with "Who has the power." John ultimately prevailed with three terminal degrees including a Ph.D., in Education eLearning.Fearless John has waded into more than one situation with some interesting results. On a large transaction involving a meeting with the Chairman of Native Northwest Tribes, he realized he had no experience with Native Americans. When he showed up for the meeting, the tribal chairman motioned for John to take his seat across from him. John sat. The Chairman sat. They stared at each other. John raised his right hand and said, “How.” The Chairman leaned in and in a soft voice replied, “I have a master's degree, and I’m writing my Ph.D. dissertation on Biomass at the University of Washington, and I speak English.” That became a friendship that lasts to this day, and John carries a Chief Honor Blanket from The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. ******************John LaCasse is the founding principal of Silvertip Research. A team organization connected through companion disciplines in Factor Analysis for Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, eLearning, and Education. He is a private pilot on land and sea. Really Charlie Podcast "On the Wall"

On The Wall...Take a seat or just lean against a part of me that is strong. The only way you understand the wall of people is being right there with the people. Gathering amongst family & friends from the walls beginning to end. It takes a village to raise a child and on the wall we did smile. Make no mistake we do understand the fate of good, bad & ugly. As fate was determined we have a better understanding from being on the wall. There was hard knocks and some thought with rocks in their heads and others used the experience to get ahead. Leading the streets or leading the classroom. On the wall we don't think we are doomed in our destiny we just know we can make it through alot of things in life by just being on the wall or against the wall. Some may never see the value in a wall, but on this wall many of us were able to answer the call. I'll hug every part of this wall, because the history on the wall goes beyond today, tomorrow or yesterday. We see the on the wall experiences differently, but on the wall has made alot of us who we are today. Charles Perry, Jr. A Poetic Pulse

Sometimes You Have to Lose Yourself Podcast

Hosted by Charlie Perry & Marvin Speller-Coach M100 "Sometimes You Have to Lose Yourself" & Coach has written a book. We are going to discuss his book. He explains why? Why This Book Was WrittenThis book was written because something happened that didn’t just break me—it shattered everything. It ripped away the woman I loved. It pulled the floor out from under my life. It destroyed what I thought I knew about love, faith, strength—even myself. This isn’t a story about healing that came easy. This is about the kind of grief that destroys you completely—then hands you the pieces and dares you to start over.I wish I had been fully self-aware of what I was going through early on. I wasn’t. But I’m here now. I’m writing this at my most vulnerable point ever. I considered myself a proud, shy man—never again. I’m pouring my heart out with the hope that it helps you through your most challenging time ever.If you’ve ever lost someone, or something, so deeply that you no longer recognize the person in the mirror, this book is for you.If you’ve been cracked open by death, heartbreak, trauma, or life itself—this is your permission to feel it, face it, and rise anyway.Because grief will break you. But if you let it… It will also rebuild you.Join us every Wednesday on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn & Spotify at ^ pm Eastern time.

Deals Danger Destiny By John Lacasse

CAPT United States Merchant Marines.
