Resistance Education 7.2.26
One of the things I believe elected officials should do is educate voters, not just repeat consultant-tested talking points.A Facebook comment claiming that only “illegals” lost Medicaid benefits gave me an opportunity to explain something many Americans don’t know: millions of retirees rely on Medicaid to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums. When that assistance disappears, the consequences are very real. This piece isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about making sure we’re arguing from the same set of facts. As always, I welcome thoughtful disagreement.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Future 6.17.26
We’ve built governments. We’ve written laws. We’ve created institutions. So why does it feel like things are falling apart? This isn’t a call for less government. It’s a question:Who makes the rules?Who do they apply to?And what happens when the people writing them stop following them?If there’s a way forward, I think it starts with us.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Beef 6.5.26
If we want a stronger republic then we need stronger states. The discovery of the New World Screw Worm in Texas, combined with the fact that 80% of our beef market is controlled by 4 companies, tells us that we need to make drastic changes in how we do beef in America.Regional plants would give flexibility and protection to our supply chain. It would also build jobs and regional economic security. This make communities stronger.Stronger communities make stronger states make a stronger republic.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resisting Grift 6.1.26
Is your state trying to do what Colorado is trying to do? Should states be paying the wealthiest people on Earth to make life harder for their citizens. In this video I explore this question with respect to data centers. I also point out the relationship they have to our growing mass surveillance state.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 5.31.26
Congress wants a raise.Congress wants to keep its stock trading privileges.Congress left Washington early rather than take difficult votes. At the same time, older Americans are being told they must work or volunteer for food assistance. This video examines the growing gap between what Congress expects from ordinary Americans and what many members of Congress expect from themselves.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 5.29.26
I’ve been thinking about a simple contradiction. If government is evil, corrupt, and illegitimate, why would someone want to serve in it?This video examines Colorado legislators with ties to anti-government activism, the political money that supports them, and the growing disconnect between the oath of office and the people taking it.Maybe the most important question isn’t who they are.Maybe it’s why they wanted the job in the first place.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Hope 5.28.26
Thinking about America lately can put a person in a funk. This video started there. But after thinking about the similarities between modern America and the early 1930s, I found a silver lining that I didn’t expect.History has warnings in it.It also has patterns. That’s what this video is about. Resistor Endorsed 5.20.26
I’m expecting another endorsement announcement in the coming days. But 3.14 Action Fund is my first! 3.14 Action Fund exists to help Democrats with math and science backgrounds get elected at all levels of government. I have a Mathematics degree with a minor in physics. I’m very concerned, for my grandchildren’s sake, about climate change. I believe strongly in what 3.14 Action Fund stands for and I’m proud to have their endorsement.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resisting Surveys 5.19.26
Gun control has become one of the most polarized debates in America.I’m not interested in treating it like a tribal loyalty test.In this video, I explain why I won’t be filling out gun-control surveys from advocacy groups, where I actually stand on gun legislation, and why I believe we should spend more time addressing the causes of violence instead of endlessly dividing Americans into camps.I own firearms. I support some gun laws. Some recent laws don’t make much sense to me. But after forty years of this debate, the violence continues while the division gets worse. If we want less violence, we need stronger communities.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Liberty v Safety Pt 3: Resolve
In Part 3 of my Liberty vs. Safety series, I stop talking about the problem and start talking about solutions. For decades, lawmakers have known surveillance powers could be abused. The Church Committee warned about it. Congress reacted to it. Then over time, many leaders stopped treating liberty as something that needed protecting and started treating it like an inconvenience.I explain why I believe states must remove themselves from complicity with federal surveillance systems, what kind of legislation I would introduce in Colorado, and why the normal political strategy for passing legislation no longer works. We can keep doing what we’ve always done.Or we can do something different.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Liberty v Safety Part 1
Most Americans have never read the Church Committee report.Maybe they should. In the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, the federal government used surveillance powers against Americans exercising constitutional rights. Congress investigated those abuses and concluded that senior officials believed national security placed them above the law. That investigation eventually led to FISA.In this video, I explore the warning signs from that era, and why they still matter today.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Difference 5.7.26
People constantly tell me that both parties are the same. In this video, I explain why I think that belief has become a political trap — one that benefits the people steadily dismantling democratic institutions while encouraging the public to disengage in cynicism. Using Mary Howitt’s “The Spider and the Fly” as a metaphor, I compare the very real differences between the modern Republican Party and the Democratic Party on public education, criminal justice, accountability, January 6th, and authoritarianism.Vic Meyers for Democracy This is a public episode. Resistance Brief 5.1.26
Corporations are already using AI to analyze our data and decide how much we’ll pay and how little they can offer in wages. That’s not innovation. That’s exploitation.Even if it sounds far-fetched, imagine turning that logic around and using AI to determine what corporations should pay in taxes, based on profits, buybacks, layoffs, and subsidies. In Colorado, House Bill 26-1210 would stop companies from using AI to set personalized prices and wages. My opponent has already voted against it multiple times, and even if it passes, it could still face a veto.We are one seat away from being able to override vetoes and pass laws that protect people instead of corporations. With your help, we can get there.Go to VIC4HD47.com and help me fight fire with fire. This is a public episode. Resitance Brief 4.30.26
Jim Crow wasn’t just a set of laws — it was a system built to silence voters, segregate communities, and deny representation. After the Civil War, Black Americans began to gain political power during Reconstruction, and the response was swift: poll taxes, literacy tests, gerrymandering, and legalized segregation. That system lasted for decades, reinforced by Supreme Court decisions like Plessy v. Ferguson and only partially dismantled by rulings like Brown v. Board of Education and legislation like the Voting Rights Act of 1965.Today, parts of those protections have been weakened, and the question isn’t just what Jim Crow was — it’s whether we would recognize it if it started to return.
